We're riding this evening, HarleyMom! Tonite is the annual Harley Fashion Event at our local dealership. It's a lotta fun, members of our HOG group are the "models", the dealership discounts the merchandise and they even have free Christmas gift wrapping! All this with food and cocktails. It's really a fun evening. I've really been looking forward to it and have planned my points accordingly today
It's a warm 82 this afternoon....we're waiting on the rain that will preceed our chilly front so tomorrow and Sunday will probably bring showers
Just a quick not to tell ya'll that I'm down 2 pounds of Cruise Fat today!!!! YIPPEEEEEEE!
Last night was the first piece of meat (chicken) I've had since I got home last Sunday and it's paying off. Thank goodness for veggie soup and my low-fat/high fiber/SF (homemade) pumpkin/oatmeal/fruit bars. I'll post the recipe if anyone's interested. It's pretty yummy and a piece of it followed by a big ol' glass of H2O fills you up for a loooong time!
You guys must have been busy Christmas shopping over the weekend or something!
Just want to toot my horn one more time to say that I'm back to my pre-cruise weight. YAY!
Hope you're all well and happy....the Chilly Front has arrived in Central Florida. It's a high of 60 today and cloudy. Supposed to be SUNNY and 60 tomorrow, so a-riding we will go since HH is off work.
You go Jill!!! I weigh in on Tuesday so I will find out where I am at. I am sure I am down but I doubt 4lbs.
DH went on the toy ride on Sunday it was 12 degress out. NUTS! You won't see me out riding in that. Icy roads and cold is not my idea of fun. His friend went down on the road when they stopped lucky no damage or anything like that.
Jill I would love the recipe for the pumkin bars. That sounds good.
Well all it is Monday morning, where the heck is everyone. Gina come tell us about your sucess. Would love to here from the rest of you! Take care all and keep on keep'n on!
Jill- So glad that your cruise was great and that you are back to your pre cruise weight! I would love to have that pumpkin bar recipe, too! Yum! Oh, and that Harley fashion show sounds like a blast!
HarleyMom- Your hubby is dedicated! There's no way I'll ride in ice or snow, maybe cold temps, but I'm not sure about 12 degrees! Brrr...
Well, I think that I'm finally getting myself on track. Or trying, at least. Dh said that if it motivated me, then when I reach my goal weight we would seriously look into buying me a Sportster. Yipppee! So, we joined the gym (which was a big step for me) and now to just go and exercise...
I will post more later, chicks!
Hi Gina, Holly, Star, and so sorry if I forgot anyone! More later!
harleymom - 12 degrees??? BRRRRRRRRRRRR wouldn't catch me ridin' either....
Andrea - Yay - gym membership!!! Try everything that's free first! Like classes or tours to show you how to use stuff. If they offer personal trainer time, take it! Don't be shy - in a month practically everyone in there will be a newbie, so get past it now. By the time the NewYears Resolution people are clogging up the parking lot and locker rooms you can walk around like ya own the place. (Which you do in a way - the amounts they make you pay to join )
A sportster? Nice motivation!
As for me - I can't remember if I talked about it before, but I bumped my calories up from 1400 to 1600. (I wasn't usually pulling off the 1400 anyway - and I was all annoyed with myself about it.) I think it has helped with the binginess - and I have stepped up the cardio to compensate. I've been in a pretty good groove lately. Spin classes are GREAT! Seems to me this stuff is at least 80% head game....
3 cups uncooked oatmeal (not instant)
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup Splenda
1/4 cup Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup FF skim milk
1/2 cup Eggbeaters
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 15 oz. can Libby’s pumpkin
1 tsp vanilla
handful of yellow raisins
1 apple - cored & chopped
some chopped nuts, if you want...but they do add x-tra calories & points
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray an 8" square dish with PAM.
Combine wet ingredients.
Combine dry ingredients.
Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
Pour into prepared baking dish.
Bake for exactly 40 minutes, until inserted toothpick comes out kinda clean.
Cool completely before cutting...altho’ I usually eat some right outta the pan with a spoon! When cooled, I wrap each serving individually and freeze. When ready to eat, just heat up S-L-O-W-L-Y in your microwave and enjoy! Follow with a BIG glass of H20 and you’re good to go for hours! Lots of fiber, low fat and low sugar!
YAY! Glad to see everyone checking in....I missed ya'll this weekend!
WhooHoooo Andrea! A Sportster all of your very own???? You get out there and hit that gym!! Yes....the cruise was sensational....it's just the BEST way to vacation! I love being pampered for a week!
Harley, don't worry...we can meet our New Years goal...I'm sure of it. Just stick with me, Girlfriend! Man. Your HH is a die-hard!!!
Gina...I think you're absolutely right about the head game comment. When my head is "in the zone" and I'm feelin' it.....the weight seems to come off easier. When I'm thinking nothing is happening...it just doesn't! Good for you upping the calories and the cardio, I hope it works for ya!
Jill Thanks for the recipe. They sound really good. I will make those this weekend. I weigh in tonight. We will see how I did. I'll keep you posted.
Gina, congrats on the getting it thing! Good to hear from you.
Reb good to here from you and congrats on joining the gym. The biggest thing now is to go. Once you get there the hard part is done. A sporty is a pretty good motivation to keep going.
Jill- Thanks for the recipe!! Those sound yummy and will be a nice change from Slim Fast bars.
Harley-Good luck on your weigh-in!!!
Gina- Spin classes sound like a lot of fun. Glad that bumping up your calories is working for you. It seems that we always have to tweak something!
I actually went to the gym and worked out last night AND stuck 100% to plan!! That's something I haven't been able to say for a long time now. I didn't feel quite as self concious since I had dh with me, but it is a little different going there. I was the biggest person there, but that will change someday. Just gotta hang in there!!
YAY Andrea!!!!
You will soon be in the ranks of the others at the gym.....you have so much to motivate you! I just love (external) motivation....it works!!
Just lean on us for your up's and down's, Reb.....we're your biggest fanclub!
Last night we didn't workout. We are thinking this week to aim for 3 days of working out. I would like to push that a little more, we'll see. My dh really is not motivated and it makes it hard for me to eat the right things when he suggests something "bad." I need to learn to get past that, though and make choices for myself and myself only. I'm going to try my best to get to the gym this evening, but if not I will at least take a nice heart pumping walk!
It has been a stressful two days. My DH had to have emergency eye surgery yesterday as the pressure on his eye was at 55. After surgery it was at 8 as of this morning. Whew what a scare. Talk about a headache. They put a stint in his eye and it seems to be working.
Reb good for you getting to the gym. I need to head there myself but don't see it happening until Saturday due to the current events. Keep going at least 3 times weekly and you'll start seeing changes. Remember you are your own best friend or worst enemy. Don't let DH encourage bad eatting or work out habits. Do it for you Chick! You won't regret it.
Well chicks Keep on Keep'n on and have a great Thursday!
