  • Hey ladies!

Well... I passed the test!!! I was so happy. There were 24 questions and I answered 1 wrong. After I passed the test I went and tagged my Rebel, too. Now I am legal! YAY!!!

On a sucky note, I have been kinda sick all week, but I went to the doctor and they said I have strep throat. So, I'm on antibiotics for it. Yuck.

There's a 50% chance of rain tomorrow. My plan is to get up kind of early, go out for a tiny cruise around town, and maybe put some gas and wash the dust off my bike. We'll see how the weather is, though. I want to take side streets, though, because I sometimes kill the bike when I take off...sooo embarrassing...

Holly- I really hope that snow doesn't stick around and that you can get a few more nice rides in before winter weather.

Gina- We have some decisions to make with our bikes, but I doubt we'll do much until next year. We plan on fixing up the Rebel, but my hubby wants to wait on doing much cosmetic-wise until I've rode for a year. I need to find some good paint ideas...

HarleyMom- Congrats on your weight loss! You have done fabulous!!

Jill- Hope you enjoyed your day to yourself! Sounds fun!

    Hi Fru and Star!

I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not, but in February ( I know, long way away) I will turn...gulp...30 ...So, to ease my fears of that number I am planning on having a major kick-*** party. Dj, dance, cake, beer, and food. We're going to rent this little cabin like place. It's a long way away but I'm in the pre-planning phase of it. I've never had a big birthday party before, so I'm really stoked about this. I may do a theme party. I'm not sure yet.

Well, chicks, I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!
  • Well, I woke up a little before 8am this morning to see how the weather was. It's raining. It's almost noon and STILL raining! Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for riding.

Oh, by the way I'm so close to my Halloween goal of 10 pounds! I may pull it off or at least come close.

    Have a great one!
  • good morning! Rebel, CONGRATS!! on aceing the permit test!

Your upcoming b-day party sounds so fun. It's alot of fun to plan for these things too, isn't it!

good morning to Gina, Jill, HarleyMom, Trina and 2frus!

the snow is almost all gone, but it is so dark and gray today. and cold (low 40;s) It's so hard to think of putting the bike away! I keep telling myself there WILL be at least one more day that is mid 50's with sun.

I'm very glad that I've exercised each day for seven days....but not so happy that while at work I've succomed to at least one big cookie and worse! I don't know how to combat that. This is only my first week back there, I can't start out this badly! maybe I just need to try the things there and say to myself 'there, I've had that, it was OK, but not worth messing up my goal of being trimmer!"
  • Andrea - WOO HOO!! on passing the permit exam. Hope your strep throat is getting better. 30? February isn't so far away...

Holly - Snow...so pretty for staring out the window at....so not fun if you are itching to ride. That's so cool you've been getting back in the habit of exercising...burn those cookies off.

DH has really been getting into riding - which is cool because it gives us more time together. We went on a ride up to the foothills this weekend. We got a little lost...but it was fun. Blew my front brake cable out on the way home. I ended up taking the freeway home - too much starting and stopping the other way. My scoot did pretty well if ya don't count going up big hills..

  • I'm a bit bummed, I've had a migraine on Friday and been feeling a bit poorly all weekend, I don't feel too bad now, but I busted up my finger MORE (previous camping injury!!!) last night punching someone! I can't grip much with my right hand (including the throttle ) I just about managed the ride home and I'm doing ok with just a couple of fingers on the throttle!

I'm back to the gym today after a two week hiatus! One week was pre-half-mara tapering, one week was post-half-mara recovery! This week I have to whip my butt into shape since I have less than two weeks to go and there's a little problem of some accumulated lardy bits from eating too much last week! I'm vowing no chocolate/cake/etc till the wedding, apart from my Hen Night (chocolate fountain!) and LOTS of gym work and excessive energy in kickboxing classes. I'd add in a morning sesh at the gym but it's so hard to get up when it's DARK!

Reb - well done with your test

I'm a good exerciser and a b!tch with the healthy eating, although most days I manage it, I can't cope if I haven't planned or it's a weekend!
  • Hi chicks!

Holly- You are doing so great with the exercise! I wish that I could get my butt in gear with that. I hope the weather will hold out for you to take one more ride. I totally understand about the goodies calling your name. Dh made homemade mashed potatoes last night for dinner and I kid you not I nearly ate my weight in potatoes...they were sooo good! LOL

Gina- Your weekend sounds like a lot of fun. What does your husband ride again?

2fru- I hope you get to feeling better. Sorry to hear about re-injuring your finger.

On Sunday the weather held out and we were able to cruise town a little on our bikes. It was the first time I've ever been out on busy main streets. It was cold!! I did pretty well, killed it a few times and I did take this corner pretty wide (thank goodness no cars were coming!), but all in all for a newbie I did ok. It was alot of fun. It's still so chilly here, but I may ask Dh to layer some clothes on and just take a short trip around town again today. Practice makes perfect, right?

Hope that you're all having a great day!
  • Reb Congrats on the premit!

DH is doing great and his eye is healing just like it should.

Warm today but expecting more snow this week!

    2 Frus feel better!

Gina great to get DH out with you. It is a lot of fun.

Holly doing great on the excersise. Keep it up!

Jill where you at? Proably enjoying some wonderful riding weather.

Star hope your doing well and taking care of yourself.

Anyone else take care and keep on keep'n on all!
  • good morning biking chicks!!

Reb, absolutely, practice practice practice!! It is the time in the saddle that makes us all better riders. Even little jaunts around town on quiet streets help. When you say 'i killed it' do you mean stalling out?

    Hello to everyone else!

thanks for the encouragement on my exercising - you'd think that after exerting so much effort in my daily workout, I'd not want to sabotage myself by eating junk in the afternoon...??

My little Geo prism is getting inspected/worked on today...so far they have found that I need a starter, ignition something, rotor, spark plugs, 2 better tires...hope they don't find anything else wrong! I've been lucky, I bought it used for $1100 two years ago, and have just done oil changes for maintenance.

    Cages - yuck LOL!

I haven't been on my bike since...geez, like a week!!! it's just been rainy (or snowy, that one day) and cold. I need a fix!!

Have to exercise now, day 10 in a row! woohoo
  • Hecka windy over here....I wussed out and drove the car this morning. That cage needs a bath....it seems silly to bother washing it when I hardly ever drive it...but the windshield is pretty opaque. I guess I could drive with my head out the window

I'll post more later...work is calling me.
  • Hi Chickies!!

Haven't been getting my 3FC post notifications (again)...so I'm waaay behind on reading all your posts. Anyway....looks like lotsa good stuff going on here!

REB.....YAY on getting your permit....I just KNEW you'd have no problem! Yuck...strep throat....one of my down-falls. If I'm ever going to be sickie, it's usually strep that knocks me out. Hope you're feeling better real soon. And you're going to be THIRTY???? I have shoes (and kids) older that that! HAHAHA!!

2Frus....2 weeks to go....WOW.....can ya believe it??? Which dress did ya decide on, did I miss it? Can't wait to hear all the details!! Hope your hand heals in time for your wedding so you'll have a perfect day.

Harley....You really ROCK when it comes to this weight loss thing! So glad your DH is healing well and you're out of the "nursemaid" role. LOL

Hey Holly....SNOW??? Is it early this year? You've been really good with the exercising...I'm going to try and take your lead and see if I can get going on it. I have absolutely NO EXCUSE; I live where the weather is wonderful (Central Florida), I have time since I'm retired (EARLY!!!)...I guess I'm just lazy when it comes to that and I need to get going with it since my cruise is coming up in less than a month!

Gina....your ride to the foorhills sounds really great....did you get to see the autumn leaves or is that past now? I'm reading your exercise advice on how to get started and I'm really going to try to do it. But....I'm still wishing for that magic pill that will make me crave it immediately!! LOL

My hair came out GREAT....she's finally getting the cut down right; we decided to tweak the red color just a bit and the results were super. HH really likes it too!

Daytona BiketoberFest was last weekend, but "been there, done that" so Sunday we rode to over to the west coast to a place called Homosassa Springs. Saw some manatee and had a nice lunch on a crystal-clear river with some of our riding buddies. HH is off this weekend, but there's a chance of rain on Saturday. Figures....he gets a true weekend off about every 6 weeks!! Anyway...if the weather holds, we're gonna take our boat up through the locks into a lake that we don't visit very often, then ride on Sunday. This neck of the woods is an interesting boating area....we live on a series of 5 large lakes that are connected to each other by tropical rivers and canals, so you can go from one to the other without taking your boat out of the water. Makes boating soooo much fun and winter is our main boating (and riding) season! We have a little pontoon boat and we never get tired of watching the tropical birds and alligators. The only problem with the boat is that we usually decide to RIDE instead of boat. Our Harley always wins that coin toss!!

OK, Kids....I'm going to go get on my Gazelle or go for a long walk. Haven't decided which one. It's sunny and about 65 this morning, so a walk might be just the ticket to get me going!

    Have a great day, everyone!
  • Hi Jill!! man o man, why don't I live in florida???? (scratching head)

Here is a pic from a couple weeks ago, when husband and I rode for the afternoon - you can see from the sky it was a typical fall day - lots of dramatic light/dark sun/clouds. My bike is on the right, hubster's on the left - he has an '06 Kawasaki Anniversary Classic, a 1500 ( I can ride it )

  • Oh! how could I forget this - I got whistled at today I was wearing a pair of jeans that are really too tight - but I just love the jeans now that have Spandex, and are bootcut - they flatter just about anyone - and a cute new jacket that I got from - (whispering) Walmart - and I got whistled at by a group of guys taking a smoke break out back of a restaurant I think I was twice as old as them!!

AND a guy spoke to me when I was walking into our general store to check our mail - he said "cold morning isn't it I mean, cold night" (it WAS night) and I smiled and said yes, LOL.

*and these happened while I was tooling around in the CAGE not the bike - we all expect extra attention when we're on the bike )
  • That's 'cuz you are lookin' GOOOOOD, Girl! And your bikes are awesome too!!
  • Hey Chicks. Awful storm yesterday. Got on the highway and the darned windshield wipers just quit working. The snow was coming down like crazy and no place to pull over rode for 3 miles with no visiablity. Finally got to pull over it was nuts! Waited 2 hours to get them fixed with 3 teenagers in the car. We all went back home and watched movies the rest of the day. It was really wet snow. My feet where so wet you could have rung my socks out. It was nuts. It is almost all gone this morning. It is cold here though. UCK! So jealous of you Jill! Gina your weather should be pretty decent also.

Holly congrats on all the attention from the guys. It is fun to get noticed sometimes!

Well chicks I have a lot of catching up to do today. Take care all and Keep on Keep'n on!
  • Harley- Thank goodness you are ok! That sounds so scary. I would be terrified!!

Jill- I second the "I am so jealous of you" statement! Have a great weekend, chick! Thanks for the comment about 30. I needed that!

Gina- Ugghh...work...calling here too. Why can't they just leave us alone?!

Holly- How cool to be whistled at! Really is flattering.

Well, I gotta get back to the old grind. What are your plans this weekend, chickies? This is my dad's 50th birthday weekend and we are having a super fun chili, cookout, roasting marshmellows and hot dogs...along with adult beverages...

    I'll check back later!

    Yay!!! It's FRIDAY!!!!!
