No scale today. I started reading then ended up eating brunch and forgot to weigh first.

Trish, I had the NG tube pulled after both surgeries. Ouch!! The second time was worse than the first, I think because I knew what was coming. I had to fast after my procedure to allow my bowel to heal before I put food thru. I got to eat a sandwich the day I went home.

DH told me we would stay home from the casino all week and I made him stick to it. He was so mad,but I told him he has to learn not to say that unless he means it. We are going today. Football is over for Pittsburgh.

I'm surprised they did not already tell you what to eat. Remember they said 5-6 small meals. I think this will help you not get blocked. I would have trouble with that. Once I take the first bite of food I want more. I don't know how to change that. I can fast for hours and hours and be fine but once I eat I want more and more. It is NOT hunger. I don't know what causes that or how to fix it. The only thing I can think of is OMAD.

Here is an article I found about how eating makes me want more.

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319605

Most articles talk about still being hungry after eating. For me, it has nothing to do with hunger. I am not still hungry. I just want more food.

Carol Sue, I heard a preacher talking this morning about how he thoght of food all the time when he weighed 100 lbs more than he does now. He said he would be preaching on Sunday morning thinking about getting Burger King on the way home. He said his problem was "food addiction".

I think at this point I'm more afraid of losing ground that I've gained. Plus my problem with low fat which to me is much easier to do than low carb, is the sugar in low fat foods. So far it hasn't hurt my bs, but I'm afraid that it will.

DH doesn't understand why I say I feel like my gut is tender in there from the biopsy and drainage. It doesn't hurt, but it feels like it isn't healed yet. I'm glad you shared about them having you fast after your surgery. Maybe that is why the surgeon had no problem with me fasting. The body has to have time to heal.

Which casino are you going too? I hope you will be able to have a good place to read.

I'm in the food court reading and I found a bunch of articles about still wanting to eat after I'm full. I bookmarked them to read later. It seems to be psychological. The bad part about sitting in the food court is they have a big billboard with pictures of the food. I ate at home so I am not hungry.

Home. I had a great night. DH not so much but we came out ahead. He was playing a machine for a couple hours while I was in the food court. I came out and sat down at a machine near him. I hit the button 3-4 times and won $600. So I was happy.

Had 1092 calories today but had 117 carbs. I have to cut those carbs back to <50. I sure do love my carbs! The G I take lowers blood sugar but raises insulin, the fat storage hormone. I know all about it but don't always do what I know I should.

Carol Sue, glad you had a good day at the casino. You kept your calories low too.

I had 1214 calories and way too many carbs. I could have eat the house tonight but tried to be careful. I need to work on getting some sort of low carb snacks. We are watching movies, but I may have to go to bed soon as I am really tired tonight.

I'm up early because I could not sleep. Now I'm really tired so I don't think I will do much today.

On Saturday I was watching a movie called Wind Chill. I watched the first hour but had to turn it off because it was so scary. Now I wish I had recorded it because I'm curious how it ended.

I am back on low carb this morning. I'm noticing certain foods cause my stomach to feel like it is on fire. I think like the oncologist said, this is where I learn what I can and can't eat. Of course, I realize that it could still be tender from having the fluid suctioned out. Coffee is something I will have to give up. I drank half a cup and boy my stomach felt like it was on fire. So I plan to continue low carb because the sodium isn't coming off very well from the IVs I've had. I think it would be healthier and easier to get it off with low carb than use Lasix.

Weight was the same today so that is good, but FBG was 130 and that is from the high carb eating yesterday. That is why I can't eat any othe way but low carb.

Breakfast is 2 eggs, 2 sl bacon and cheese. Dinner will be the veggie soup I made yesterday and a pork chop. I added enough to mak 1000 calories on MFP but probably will have 2 meals within 4 or 5 hr eating window.

Carol Sue I hope you get some rest.

I went back to bed and got an hour or so more. Hopefully I will sleep tonight.

Trish, I would talk to the doctor and ask about the continued pain. Do not assume its normal. It doesn't sound normal to me. Maybe they missed something like an ulcer. I had the NG tube twice and didn't have that. It could be from the biopsy. Did you hear anything about that?

I have been reading about my overeating issues, eating again right after I eat. I really feel like I need a good fast to get back on track. OMAD would help but I really don't want to do that. I want my eggs for brunch. They are good protein and I can't imagine giving them up. What I need is brunch and dinner in 4-6 hours and no snacking in between. I need to really be aware of sticking to just the 2 meals. I think the snacking is just the fact that the food is there. It is not hunger.

One of the things mentioned is eating what you really want and not eating things you think you should eat. I also have to get back to <50 grams of carb. My blood sugar has been running too high. One thing I've noticed is the nights I can't sleep are nights when I snacked at night and the next morning blood sugar is high. I think high blood sugar during the night disrupts my sleep.

These things are a goal for me. I'm figuring out what my issues are and how to resolve them.

I hope you start feeling better soon and figure out your new eating pattern. Don't end up back in the hospital!

Carol Sue, I actually had a call from a nurse who works within the transition from hospital to my doctor's follow up appt. She called to check on me. Besides the NG tube I had down my nose, I also had a tube that the surgeon had inserted in my right side that also drained out the liquid in my gut and allowed them to suction off as much of what didn't drain on it's own. It turns out that she said that will be sensitive for a while until it heals. She said anything that is spicy or acidy will irritate it. That is why I felt like I did after drinking the coffee. It doesn't mean I can never have it, but that I can't right now. Same with the eggs and bacon which didn't settle well. She suggested the BRAT diet. So I just decided that I need to follow the lowfat diet for not. I went on line and looked up the Heart and the Cancer diet and decided to use the cancer one. BS said the lowfat diet was what she was on when she lost so much weight so quickly. She is guiding me through the what to eat and what not to.

DH has gone to the store to get some of the foods that will be easier on my system while I heal. I will follow this plan and try to keep my eating window with 8 hrs.

I'm glad you got some rest.

Trish, I also had those drains on my side. I think they didn't drain it enough the second time and that's why I got the saromas. I don't remember it being sensitive after I went home but that was 11 years ago. I'm glad you got to discuss all this with the nurse.

We went to Bob Evans and I got a grilled chicken Cobb salad. I only ate half of it. I brought it home but I might only eat the chicken out of it. "Only eat what you want."

I'm finished eating for the day within 6 hrs and less than 900 calories. I had finished it out when I planned the meals before I had to switch to lowfat. I rounded off the calories on MFP to 1000 calories to make them happy. I will plan better tomorrow.

Athough something didn't make my stomach feel good, I still think I feel a little better. DH stopped at McDs on the way home from the store and got double cheeseburgers. Babysister told me that cheese hurts her stomach and also caused her to stall losing weight. So I scrapped as much of the cheese off and had to stop eating the burger patties when it started tasting greasy. So I ended up eating 1 1/2 patties with half the bun. Plus I had a cup of the soup from yesterday. Tomorrow we will have the pork chops I cooked for today. I will have oatmeal for breakfast.

Carol Sue, I also want to learn to eat only as much as I need to satisfy hunger and no overeating.

I went to bed and slept a few hours but woke up and can't get back to sleep, so here I am again at 4 am. Blood sugar is below 100 so high blood sugar isn't causing it.

Trish, I eat cheese by itself as a snack but I don't like it on a hamburger or in a salad. I used to like it but something changed.

I don't want to stay up like I did yesterday but I don't know if I will be able to sleep. I'm also having potty issues for the second day. Who knows why.

_________________________________________

I went back to bed and was able to get a little more sleep. I think I have too many things on my mind. I have to schedule a tax appointment. DH didn't tell me he was almost out of meds. I have to call to make his doctor appointment. I make appointments and he cancels them. His pills will probably run out before his appointment. I have to call cable because our bill went up. Really there's nothing I can do about it but complain to them. So all this stuff runs thru my mind and keeps me awake.

I got on the scale at 4 am and it said 183. I thought it would be lower with potty issues.

My long time friend who lost all the weight has a lot of medical issues going on. I am worried because she has not responded to my last 3 emails. I will call her, but she lives alone so if she doesn't answer I still won't know what's going on. I don't know anyone else to ask about her.

That's all my complaints for today!!

________________________________________

I was looking back over my weight gain since I was sick. On Dec 10 I was down to 175, my lowest in years. As of today I have a regain of 7 lbs. Up to 182.8. I expected a gain since I was barely eating while sick but not this much. I've been eating too much and things I know I should not eat. I did not take advantage of that extra, burst of weight loss. Its not too late to correct this. This is a prime example of how fast weight loss is not sustainable.

Carol Sue, Sorry you are having potty issues and also problems sleeping. I understand about the things you are worrying about. DH has some meds that he takes care of and keeps up with and some that I handle each week that I keep up with. He has so many that I actually have his on auto refill. Before I went into the hospital, I had called in 3 and because I was in the hospital I didn't realize his metformin was due too, but they did and refilled it.

I had oatmeal for breakfast and it actually didn't hurt my stomach however the applesauce did but I think it wouldn't have if I had mixed it into the oatmeal. I have my meals planned for today and I actually only have 710 calories figured so far. That would give me less than 70 net carbs within 5 hrs eating window so I might just leave it that way.

Weight is still 189 from swelling that isn't going down very quickly. I did 15 minutes on the recumbent bike and 5 min on the vibe machine. I will try to do more later. They wanted me to do 30 minutes a day and consider this 1/2 of what I normally do and will try to add more to it later.

We will have the pork chops today that I cooked yesterday. I will finish off my soup that has replaced my salads.

Have a nice day everyone.

Trish, all of our meds are on autofill but when the refills run out they have to contact the doctor. I think the doctor refused to renew this one. When I was at the doctors in December they told me that DH needs to make an appointment since he hasn't been seen for so long. As long as he keeps receiving his meds he doesn't want to go to the doctor. The doctor has to force him by stopping his meds. Actually, they should have called him about the appointment but since I am on his list of people to contact I guess they were ok to do that. If it was up to DH he would not go and wouldn't care if he runs out of meds. Until something happens, then he would freak out. I had no idea he was like this when I married him. We were in our 30s and medical issues were far from our minds. I told him long ago if he doesn't want to do what he needs to do that's his decision but don't cry to me when something goes wrong. But he does anyway.

I have my plan for today and its 877 calories, 67 carbs, 12 fiber. I should not be hungry and should not eat anything else. I passed up chocolate pudding that DH made. I only like it when its still warm. Once its refrigerated I don't like it.

__________________________

We ended up having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. I had a small portion with 2 meatballs. I wasn't hungry yet but DH was. I ate in a 4-5 hour window and I want just water the rest of the day. My step children don't eat dinner until 7pm or later. We are almost ready for bed by then.

Well, I am finished eating for the day. I actually had about 840 calories but I fudged on MFP to get it to register 1035 calories. I want to drink water the rest of the day.

I found 2 free kindle books on low fat dieting. My stomach is finally starting to feel better. There are some foods that I can eventually have that gives me heartburn right now. But the things that I can eat now are causing things to start functioning in my system and I guess that is what it is all about for now although my foods are kind of limited. By the time I can eat more normal, I will know more about the diet.
