Trish, it sounds like you have a good plan in place for your treatment. I pray that all goes well for you. I'm so glad you feel better today.

Have an enjoyable dinner with DH for you anniversary.

No MFP today. Today was a good day. We thoroughly enjoy time with DS & BIL. I ended up getting a ribeye steak, cold slaw and mushrooms. I ate half of everything and brought home the other half of the steak and mushrooms for dinner tomorrow. Left half the cold slaw because I could taste the sweeteness of it and didn't want to eat any more sugar. Sugar feeds cancer. I came home and drank a cup of green tea.

I asked DBIL if he remembered making bean sprouts when Mama died and we were all eating healthy and he said he seemed to remember but not sure. Then he said he had been thinking about making broccoli sprouts. I was so excited to hear him say that. I told him that I would pay him to make them for me as I had just heard that 2 of the best things to eat for cancer treatment is 1 smashed garlic and eat after it sits for 10 minutes and the 2nd was baby broccoli sprouts. He is the one who just retired and DS told him that would a good habit for him. Strange thing is I had never heard of it until yesterday and he had seen and thought of making it. I haven't found a store here that has any type of bean sprout for sale.

Starting to feel tired but it is late. Such a blessed day and time with sister and brother he is more like a brother than BIL.

Trish, I have not seen broccoli sprouts or bean sprouts in stores but I have never looked. They would be sold in an Asian store. We don't have one nearby. I have seen canned bean sprouts in the Asian section at Walmart. I'm glad you had a nice dinner out with your family.

I ate so much today! I feel terrible. Tomorrow will not be a good scale day. I don't know what's got into me. It didn't even taste that good.

Before I had Covid I rarely got headaches. I had a headaches the whole time I was sick. Now I get them often. They feel like a sinus headache so tonight I rinsed my nose and sinus with warm saline. It felt good and I hope I don't get a headache tonight. I also think DH has the heat turned up too high. We used to keep it on 68 but recently he's had it on 70. I've felt warm sleeping.

I don't know if my mother put sugar in Cole slaw but I never did. I didn't even know it was supposed to have sugar in it until recently. I don't think to make it.

I plan on making vegetable soup tomorrow. I need it to get away from all the carbs. Today at Walmart I bought some calf liver. I could have sworn it used to be $5 but it was $3.79. I eat it once in a while but DH does not. He used to eat it but after he found out that it filters the blood he won't eat it. I think if he visited a slaughter house he would not eat meat. I also bought strip steaks. They used to be $15 for 3 in a pkg but now they were $20. Some packages were more. We eat 2 for our dinner and I freeze the third one. Then when I have 2 in the freezer we have them. So 1 1/2 meals from each pack. Sometimes I cook one for him and I have liver or salmon.

I'm surprised that Bob Evans did not raise the price of breakfast because of the increased egg prices.

Off to bed now.

Scale is up to 181.2. Not as bad as I thought considering what I ate and not really knowing my weight yesterday. But not good. I have lost nothing this month and 3 days left.

I decided to cook the steak today instead of letting it sit til tomorrow. I can make the soup tomorrow. I had scrambled eggs with 1slice of toast and a half of an English muffin. I hope to just have steak and veggies for dinner.

Son in law is bringing a hoagie from the fire hall hoagie sale. We buy one as a,contribution to the fire department. I hope to not eat any or just the meat and cheese,no bread.

Scale up .6 lbs this morning and I'm sure it is probably sodium or something they used in the food. I figure that isn't bad. DBIL always orders an appetizer and he got an order of stuffed mushroom and I ate one because they were made with cheese. It looked like it was just cheese and it was delicious, but you never know if they added something else. Even with my steak I often wonder if they use MSG even though they arem't supposed. I probably could make them more keto so will look online for a recipe. I'm actually trying to keep my keto eating very simple unti I get the book from the dietician in Canada who had cancer and did keto. She shares what foods to eat and also recipes too. It must come from Canada because it seems to be one of those orders from Amazon that you can't trace to see when it ships or where it is without contacting the company itself. Not sure I want to trust just any keto cookbook because there are so many variations and I'm going stricter with it for now. FBG was 102 again today so that is very good too. I am thinking about getting me some keto sticks so I will know when I go into ketosis.

Carol Sue, I haven't bought eggs or meat since I came home so don't really know much about the prices yet. DH did notice the steakhouse had raised their prices and we noticed that DS chicken fried steak wasn't as large as it used to be plus it had less batter on it. Meat will be higher for us because Dr. Berg stresses that I need to be eatig range free/grass fed meat. Being just the 2 of us and the fact that we don't eat a lot of meat, I think we could do that. We have a couple of good local stores that sell it. I found with the ground beef that I have to add a little olive oil because it has practically no fat to it. That is because in order to have the marble in the meat, a cattleman told me that good beef is raise on grass until a month or two before butchering when they feed them grain.

Your gain was probably just water weight it will come back off.

I'm having salad and left over steak and I will cook chipped beef for DH.

Have a nice day everybody.

I disconnected my Fitbit from MFP. I'm having a lot of racing heart issues lately and Fitbit interprets that as exercise. They even sent me a message congratulating me for reaching my exercise goal. It is probably time for me to get my valve replaced but I'm hesitant for various reasons. I didn't get that for a long time and I wish I knew if that was something I was doing. One time several years ago I went to the ER and they said it was my thyroid. I hesitate to go because wait times are excessively long and they are short staffed. They fired anyone who did not get the vaccine and some people don't want to work there because of covid. That leaves the ones who do work there very over worked. It hurts the patients in the long run.

Eggs are $3.79 at Walmart. Aldis are $4.00+. And the regular grocery are $5.00+. Some parts of the country are higher and if you buy free range or organic its much more. Chicken that used to be $1.29 lb is now up to $2. I didn't look at the price per pound of the steaks, just the package price. If I saw the price per pound I might have changed my mind.

I just bought a laptop and printer off QVC. It was a good deal and I have 30 days to try it out. I don't NEED it but our desktop is getting very old and slow and its the only one we have that we share. I use my tablet day to day but for some things I need the computer. Like doing the banking. I will not do that from my tablet.

My steak was good. We also had mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

Today I had 817 calories and net 12 g carbs.

Carol Sue, I hope you don't have to go sit in an ER waiting room as it seems to be a long wait all over. I heard that nurses are becoming traveling nurses who don't work for the hospitals because they don't want to pay them what they were paying. That is really sad. I hope you don't have to have surgery but will be praying for you if you either way.

Hope you like your new computer and printer.

I had a good day and had a nice phone visit with DGS in SC and a good phone visit with DGD who just moved to her grandmothers (my daughters). She is the one whose mother took her off and wouldn't allow her to have anything to do with us. A good day but now I am very tired. May sleep through this movie DH has on. It doesn't look like one I will care for.

Good night.

Trish, we learned that if you go to the ER in an ambulance they take you right back to triage and you don't have to wait in the waiting room. So that's what we do. Its more expensive but if you're really sick its worth it. Also, with us its usually heart issues and the EMT will start treating you on the way. Not all hospitals are like that because our neighbor went by ambulance to another hospital and he still had to wait in the waiting room.

I think my heart palpitations are caused by dehydration. One of my meds contains a diuretic. I try to drink enough water but then I get up too much at night. If I drink something when my heart is racing it goes back to normal.

I got up very early again and I weighed 182. Then I went back to bed for a couple hours and now I'm back to 181, so no change from yesterday. I think you are going to pass me up again. I'm still eating too much and too many carbs. MFP says I'm going to lose, but they are wrong. I don't lose at these numbers.

I was having second thoughts about the computer and was going to cancel. I always do that when I buy things that are costly. But I decided to get it. The price is very good, and if our old desk top breaks down we would spend a lot more to replace it.

I'm glad you got to talk to your grandchildren. You are lucky to have such a close and loving family. Truly a blessing.

Carol Sue I agree that I am truly am blessed. I love how the Lord allows me to have the closeness I have with them even though they live in other states.

DH said many times that I should have gone in an ambulance, but the EMTs brought one little lady from a nursing home and just left her in the waiting room so not sure how they would have treated me if I had. She was alone and was very confused. I think they decide who is an emergency and who isn't. Very sad.

Weight was 182.4 this morning and FBG is still 102. These readings are a little later than I usually do them because I've been sleeping late this weekend.

I tried eating a beautiful salad yesterday and was miserable all afternoon even when I went to bed. I think I'm going to have to learn how to make smoothies with my veggies like the guy I watched who got rid of his cancer naturally with only 3 chemo treatments. He said that was the only way he could eat them. I thought since his was colon and mine is ovarian I could eat them but I can't. I'm going to research doing them as smoothies as I really don't want to do juicing unless I have to. The blessing is that I do still have my juicer machine from when I juiced years ago.

I feel like this is going to be another rest day for me. Not much energy and DH said eggs would be fine for our meal today. I am only having OMAD right now since that seems to be all I can handle right now. I am not taking any supplements today because not eating I found that by the time I cook that I almost fainted yesterday. I had to sit down and let it pass before I could fix my plate and eat. I'm sure it was my BS dipped because I've been taking berberine and blood sugar support pill whether I ate or not. Today I will only tke one of each when I eat.

I read on line that metformin is good for preventing cancer so you lurkers who read continue to take it if you can as it does protect you. I had to stop taking it years ago because of the potty issues.

Have a blessed day everybody.

We went to the casino. We,were having a terrible time and I was miserable that we were losing. Then right before we were going to come home we started winning and we won back what,we had lost. So that made me happy that although we didn't come out ahead we still have our money.

I am sorry to hear you are still not able to eat salads. And I'm sorry to hear you are weak and have no energy. I pray that all this time improves.

I'm finally going to make soup tomorrow. I am craving it. I have all my ingredients ready to go first thing. I also might make some cookie dough to bake on Tuesday. It has to be refrigerated.

When I was in Wal-Mart I was happy to see the winter coats are on clearance. They will be putting the swim suits out soon.
I'm looking forward to spring.

By the way, Trish. I am surprised that Tart cherry has a bad effect on you. It doesn't seem like it has any effect on me, good or bad. My bottle is empty and I might not buy more.

Weight is down to 180.4. I thought it would be because I didn't overeat but you never know.

It's possible that when we go to the ER in an ambulance we get taken right away because its heart related. When I had my bowel issues DH drove. They told me to wait in the waiting room but when I couldn't stand up they took me right away. When DH broke his hip he went in an ambulance and they took him right away but he obviously couldn't stand up.

I've started my soup as I want it done early.

Default Getting started, looking for support

PERSONAL INFORMATION: My name's Cate and I'm a 62 year old divorced physical therapist, recently diagnosed with Stage 0 ductile carcinoma (surgery last week) AND pre-diabetes. I love time with my grandkids, reading, walking, and have reintroduced myself to downhill skiing this winter.

DIABETES INFORMATION: Pre-diabetes (A1C 5.7) and currently not on medication. My PCP has agreed that weight loss and better food choices could change this. I'm scheduled for f/u blood work in July to check my progress...

DIET / EXERCISE REGIMEN: I'm 61" tall and 163.7 lbs (as of this morning). I was - once upon a time - a WW group leader which kept me accountable. When I focus on portion control and managing stress, I succeed with weight loss/management but struggle to stick with it for the long haul. A supportive community is a key to success, so I am here to help and be helped with my goal to lose weight and become more healthy. I have time off for my surgery recovery - getting out for walks

Hi Cate! Welcome to 3FatChicks and the Diabetes Forum. I am so happy to hear that your doctor recommended weight loss and dietary changes rather that prescribing meds right off the bat. I wish you success with that.

My soup is done, and I hope this will keep my calories and carbs low for the day. I started off with a hard cooked egg for brunch. I'm so looking forward to my vegetable soup once it cools off.

Hi Cate, Welcome to 3fs and our group. Hope all goes well with your journey and look forward to getting to know you.

Carol Sue, Your soup sounded so good that I am going to make some for my meal today. I know I need to have some protein but not sure I will eat any. I decided that since I can't seem to eat the salads because it takes so long for my body to digest it and it makes me exhausted that I will try turning them into a soup. I might have to go to juicing or smoothies with them but I guess I'm still in the old school theory that it is better to chew it. However, I know this is all temporary so will have to do what I can do.

One of the benefits of the water I drink is that it helps regulate FBG and today that proved to be true as my FBG was finally back down to 98. Weight stayed at 182.4.

We are supposed to stay in low 30s for the next few days and rain so that means icy streets. DH will go to the store today and go get more of my alkaline water from the place nearest to us. I probably should go with him, but just don't feel like getting dressed to go. BS called last night and when I told her how I feel that she reminded me that I am actually detoxing my body so this is normal.

Oh Carol Sue, glad your casino trip turned out okay.

Have a great day everybody.

This morning I looked and looked for a new bottle of Tart Cherry but didn't find it. I also noticed that I was almost out of Magnesium. I never let my supplements get that low. Later on I spotted a bag under the chair in my bedroom. Guess what was in it! Tart Cherry and Magnesium. There was also a bottle of Metformin. I often skip a metformin so I never run out. Last month I ran out and when I ordered it from Wal-Mart they said it was too soon, i knew something wasn't right. So that mystery is solved.

I ate so much soup! I made too much. I keep the jars when I buy dill pickle spears and use them for soup. I have 3 jars of soup in the refrigerator now. It is so good so that I don't want to throw it away.

Trish, I think if you make a smoothie in a blender you are getting all the nutrients from the vegetables, more so than juicing. I also prefer to chew. The vegetables in the soup aren't the healthiest. When DH was eating soup he said he found out that the dog likes carrots.

Our weather Has been exceptionally warm but that's going to change tomorrow. I think your cold rain is going to reach us. high of 27 and low of 15. Brrrr

I hope you start feeling better soon and getting your strength back.
