Carol Sue You were surprised with a loss and I was surprised by a gain. Weight wasn't as high it was a few days ago but it was back up to 188. I just knew I would get a loss or stay the same but didn't expect a gain.
I honestly think the 100% whole wheat bread is causing me to feel bloated when I eat it so will probably go back to using the 45 calorie SLMG bread when we go to Sam's or Walmart next week. As much as I don't want to do keto, I am thinking about it, but not I could do it on going, but maybe for a jump start. Not sure which way to go at this point.
Going to local store today and I need to go to $Tree and may have DH drop me off there while he goes to McDs for CB. Will try to make today another OMAD since I do better when my 2 meals are brunch and dinner.
Have great day and everybody stay warm.

Trish, this all takes time. I feel bad because I know what you are going through and I know if I did not get sick I would be where you are. God works in mysterious ways. Even if you don't eat Keto, just cutting carbs should help. You don't have to eat high fat in my opinion. I eat what fat is there but don't intentionally add.
I like 100 % whole wheat bread but the Sara Lee Delightful is what works best for me. I am through trying others.
My step daughter called and said her husband invited his whole family to their house for Christmas. She is so mad that he told her this 4 days before Christmas. I don't know if they will all come at the last minute We are not going. We already planned to stay home.

We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner to use our coupon. It was very crowded. That might be because the weekend is Christmas so people came now. I had shrimp again but ordered no seasoning and I liked it better. I brought half home for tomorrow.
I feel bad about not helping my step daughter but when she was here she had no interest in helping and learning how to make things. I don't want to get involved in this after being sick for a few weeks. I think she needs to tell her husband to never do this again without consulting her!

What a terrible thing for your step daughter's DH to pull on her. It takes so much longer to plan a special holiday meal. I don't blame you for not going. I'm sure she will figure it out. She knows you are there if she needs to call you for advice. I'm so glad we aren't going any where for the holidays. It is going to be extremely cold starting tomorrow night through Christmas and I'm so glad we can stay home where it is warm. Still haven't decided whether we are having the beef or pork roast Christmas day.
I had a cheeseburger from McDs with 1'2 order of medium fries and low carb ice cream bar. We ordered Dble cheese burger but we got home and one was a plain burger no cheese so I added cheese to it and ate it. About an hour later I had a small apple. So my eating window today was 1 hr. I could eat something else but I am afraid it would mess me up. I want to get away from eating at night so will wait and have brunch in the morning and make tomorrow a 2MD. I will probably just do 2 meals a day for a while. I don't know if I will ever become a OMAD eater or not. I haven't tracked and not sure that I will today.
I was reading what the guy writes on his permanent weight loss group on FB and he says this should never be a diet but a lifestyle. I think that is a good idea. Some people do OMAD on IF and some do 2MAD etc. He also says keep it flexible to fit whatever situation comes up at that time. So I'm thinking maybe I need to start thinking this way. Maybe woe will be more relaxed and work better. I know keto is not for me but I do think I can low carb although this guy says he eats whatever he wants and it has worked for him because of the autophaagy during fasting is working on what needs corrected in our body. So I think it is definitely worth trying. I will decide later as to whether I will continue tracking or not.

I got a red alert on the scale this morning. 179.0. It bounced lower for a second or 2. So although I'm glad I;m feeling better, I have to start watching again. Carbs have been over 50 gm, in fact they are often over 100. I know that does not work for me. I don't have to do drastic low carb but I do have to watch.
I agree with the guy that this has to be a lifestyle change, not a diet to reach a certain goal weight. It's ok to have a goal in mind, but even when you reach that goal you should continue the new WOE. This should never be something that you do until you reach your goal because you will just gain it back. It would be nice if I could continue eating like I did when I was sick but that was too low calorie to be healthy. I have to find a point between that and how I'm eating now. I can honestly say I eat what I want. I fit it into my calories for the day but I don't eat it every day. If I want something I decide if I want it bad enough to use those calories. I will never be one to say I don't eat bread, or I don't eat potatoes, but I chose to eat them when I want them. It may be a smaller portion that normal, but I eat it. I did notice that I am going back to eating small portions of snacks that DH makes, and I have to go back to saying "No thank you." That extra food here and there adds up. God gave me this opportunity, I have to use it to my advantage.
I saw 2 pairs of the jeans I buy on sale in a smaller size and I bought them. I think they are one size down from what I'm wearing now so I'm hoping by summer that I can wear them. They look like I could almost fit in them now but they might be snug around the waist and belly.
I hope my step daughter has a good talking-to with her DH. People who don't cook a big meal don't realize what it entails. I stopped doing it because it was becoming too much work for me. You can't put it together in 3-4 days, especially since she works full time. At this point, it's even too late to order things already prepared. When my sister-in-law was still here she was a big help. She was good at preparing big meals and she always pitched in and helped. Unfortunately, I just got over being sick and I'm having a hard time getting caught up on what I have to do. I can't do it.

Well, the decision was made for me. I am back OP and tracking on MFP. Weight continues to go up and while I know it is sodium, I don't like seeing 189.2 lbs. My calories will be less than 1200 and total carbs 69 within 2 meals.
Have a great day.

Carol Sue We were typing at the same time.
I can't actually do low "keto" carbing because I like to be able to eat what I want even if I have to eat a smaller serving in order to stay within the calories I eat everyday. I realized today that my weight gain came when I was trying to eat more fiber. I think the fiber is what is causing me stomach problems. I am experiencing a lot of bloating right now. DS reminded me this morning that I have never been able to eat a lot of fiber. I honestly believe if I can go back to eating 2MAD most days and not worry too much about whether the carbs are high or low that I would probably do a lot better. However, I do have to be careful to keep FBG down because it was 124 today. I keep telling DH that I can never start thinking I don't have to work at keeping it low.

Trish, we learn from our experiences. When you were doing WW the fiber worked for you but it doesn't anymore. You will find your way back. I always thought the shorter eating window was when you started getting down into the 170s. But only you can make that decision.
We went to the casino tonight and now I feel like I'm getting sick again but this time my throat is bothering me. DH doesnt understand that I have to stay home until I'm better or I don't stay better. He always wants me to go places.
I dnn't eat anything at the casino but I sat up n the food court and read a whole book. It was a Christmas love story, easy to read. Before I knew it it was 8:00 and I went looking for DH. We didn't win but didn't lose all our money either. I guess he had fun. So I had eggs and sauteed mushrooms for brunch and before we left for the casino I finished my leftovers from Texas Roadhouse. I'm hungry now but I'm not going to eat anything. I'm hoping for a drop tomorrow on the scale and I'm hoping for a drop for you too.
I tried on my new jeans and I can get them on but they are too tight to wear comfortably. I hope to wear them next summer. Maybe I can get into the 160s. Its up to me to do what I know I should do. No more excuses.

After snuggling down in my nice warm bed I no longer feel sick. I was not made for cold.
Dont ask me how, but with the little I ate yesterday weight is up to 179.9. One tenth away from 180. I think my body knows its no longer sick and wants to go back to where it was. The battle begins! Who will win? It might be because I didn't sleep long or well, got on the scale early. Or its just one of those mysterous weight things that we will never understand. This badly need a whoosh.

Carol Sue, Glad you woke up feeling better and not getting sick again. I hope you don't go over the 180 mark.
I joined MFP support group on FB. It is a very active group and you don't have to use MFP to track, but I already use them any way. It is nice to read what they have to say about eating. They stress that everybody is different and you are not supposed to criticize how someone iets or eats or tell them they are eating right or wrong and should be doing something else. In the intro I read some people can't lose weight unless they eat only 800 calories a day so they don't enforce MFP site of eating at least 1000 calories. One thing they do say is that it is good to figure how many calories you should eat in a week and if you go up over one day but at least averate out to your weekly at the end of the week that is the guideline. That is a lot like WW guidelines. One lady said that she eats half the food on her plate. Someone else plans her meals the day before.
Weight was the same today as yesterday. My FBG was 138 "ouch". Not sure if it is right or not because I'm getting used to this new meter. I've decided to just count calories and not worry about micros or carbs although I don't plan to eat high carb.
Temp this morning was 47 and is now 23 degrees around noon. It is going to keep going down 13 degrees and windchill in the mornng will feel like -5 and the high tomorrow will be 2.7 So it is going to really be cold the next few days. I've got beef stew in the crockpot for dinner today.
Have a good day and stay warm everybody.

Unfortunately the scale went up to 180.2 at 10 am. This is what my body wants.
I agree with most of the comments made on the MFP Facebook group. I understand the woman who can only eat 800 calories per day. And I agree that you cannot tell someone else how to eat. I hope you don't think that is what I'm doing. I only mean to remind you how you ate before, when you were losing and had blood sugar under 100. Have you recently compared your new meter to DHs?
Today we had hamburgers on the George Foreman grill with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese and I ate mine with 1 slice of SL bread. I was hungry for baby carrots so I cooked some of them. Who craves carrots?? I also cooked the rest of the asparagus from the day before. It was an odd combination but it was what,we wanted. DH already ate his fried potatoes for lunch. I had SL French toast for brunch.
Totals for the day 783 calories 42 carbs 31 net carbs.

This has been a good eating day. I had cheese toast and 1/2 grapefruit for brunch and we had the beef stew which was more like a beef and vegetable soup. We had sugar free brownie with pecans for dessert and DH had his salad before he had his stew. I ened up with 2 meals and a No sugar added hot sider within a 6 hr eating window. So my total calories for the day was 947 calories 99 g carbs net carbs 86 g. Although I'm not too worried about net carbs now. I still don't want to go too high on total carbs. Of course all this is estimated because I have no idea how many calories etc was actually in the stew.
Carol Sue I don't take what you say as you telling me what to do. I consider us just trying to help each other. I'm not ever trying to tell you what to do or even influence you either. We just kind of share what we hear or read. I don't know about you but sometimes, I'm just kind of thinking out loud.
I think being on that MFP FB group is going to really be helpful to me. I love being with a group of calorie counters who doesn't make you feel like you have to eat more calories than you are hungry for.

The scale is down 1 lb to 179.2.
We had very high winds this morning. I have a hanging basket of artificial poinsettias on my front porch and they were blowing so hard I was afraid they were going fly through the front window. In the summer I remember to take hanging baskets down in windy weather. We have a couple inches of snow with a temperature of 12 degrees. I don't know how much lower it will go. Schools are closed and some businesses. They are asking people to stay home. I am perfectly willing. I just hope the power doesn't go out.
The FB group sounds good. I don't do well with Facebook for some reason, but it's hope it is helpful for you.

Carol Sue Congratulations on the 1 lb down. I hope you don't lose power either. I'm hearing that a lot of people across the country are.
Weight hit 190 this morning and I was upset until I remembered that I drank a cup of chicken broth that I had to make from a cube because that was all I had. I need to pick up some low sodium instant. So I'm sure the up was just sodium because my calories were not high and I ate only 2 meals. I'm going to switch to 3 meals and have veggies at my 3rd meal. I want to spread my calories over a longer eating window. I had apple cinnamon oatmeal this morning and I've got chicken and dumplings in the crockpot for our main meal and we will have salads with that. I will finish my day with a snack of what I call raw finger salad with ranch dressing. Calories will be less than 1200 calories and net carbs under 100 g.
Temperature finally up to 22 but won't get much warmer and they said it feels like 8 degrees. They said we will have this freezing weather until around noon tomorrow and then things will start getting warmer again.
Hope everyone has a nice day and stays safe and warm.

Our temp is down to 0 now that the sun is going down and it is to hit -4 by midnight. So far we didn't lose power.
DH told me he wants me to cook our ham tomorrow and we can just have leftovers on Christmas day. I'm only making potato salad with it for just us. Very low key. I don't want to eat a lot. His back hurts today and I worry about him. It might just be the cold weather.
I just talked to my step son and they are coming on Wednesday at 4 pm. for DHs birthday. I will just have pizza and some cupcakes. I might cook some chicken legs in case someone wants them, too. A snack, not a meal.
One of these days I want to try making chicken and dumplings. My mother made that.
