Morning!!

Well I survived ds's birthday yesterday with minimal damage. I can't believe he's already 8 yo!!! Had his friends over for cake...(dq icecream cake) and presents and then without too much chaos, whisked them all off to see the new "Nanny McFee" movie!!! Really really cute!! HIghly reccomend it for the young kids. When we got back, it was here's your loot party bag...THANKS FOR COMING!!! hehe, thats the way I like'em. LOL Today is day #2 of the birthday marathon.....its dh's day!!! He's not a sweet cake kinda guy, besides we still have left over icecream cake if he wants any, but we will go out for a nice bday dinner. Probably a steakhouse, since he LOVES his MEAT!!! I'll be okay today though, restaurants don't phase me anymore.....I get what I want(mostly grilled shrimp and side of veggies) almost everytime....I don't even look at what else is available. LOVE SHRIMP!!!

Charlie.....Could have been worse GF!!.....drink that water today okay?

Valerie.....Must be the weekend for fine dining out. Your meal sounds devine!!

Curly.....YOU ROCK!!! 6 miles!!....I bet Chai dog is getting leaner too.

My tricks for getting the water in are.....
1. I always ALWAYS....drink my water on the hot side. It just feels more refreshing and my body accepts it better.
2. I drink mine from a small mouthed water bottle, and it guzzles easier.
3. Try adding a slice or two of lemon/lime.
4. Make a 12 Cup pot of herbal berry tea.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Dee-I had a feeling that Lee was a friend of Bill W's from a previous post of yours. Perhaps talking to him about this from that perspective will be helpful. I'm sure at the beginning he was going to meetings all the time. The usual recommendation is 90 meetings in 90 days. You don't have 29 years under your belt yet.

You know how they say you shouldn't skip meals because you will overeat later. Well, I think they are right. I tend to get my routine messed up when I am off from work and don't eat at my regularly scheduled times. Then I find myself ravenous at night. Sometimes I can be so dense for being so smart!

Hi everyone!

Charlie it sounds like you had a real southern meal! Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've been allowing myself one cheat meal a week. Not a cheat day but just one meal. I usually watch my calories for the rest of the day and end up around 2000 give or take for my saturday total. I know not everyone agrees with me but so far I've been loosing weight this way.

Angel Eyes it sounds like your son had a fun birthday! Good job on the eating out! I still get anxious about eating out if I'm at a place that I can't get calories listings for. I've been going to mostly chains recently because I feel more in control if I can get the exact calories for what I'm having!

Dee I hope you got to exercise today w/o having a hard time! I know it's hard to get started but once you get in the routine for a few weeks you'll probably start really loving it! Your gym sounds really expensive. Too bad you can't find something for around 29 a month.

Petra you are so right about skipping meals. If I even skip a snack I get so hungry and usually end up overeating later!

I hope you all had a good day!

I did much better with regular meals today.

I made low carb hot chocolate tonight and it turned out pretty good if any of you guys want to try it. I played around with a recipe from one of the Eades books. I took a regular coffee mug (not sure how many ounces probably 12), put in 1 tbsp unsweetened baking cocoa, 1 packet stevia, 1 packet splenda, a pinch of salt, a pinch of cinnamon, then filled it 3/4 of the way up with boiling water (you know, the old fashioned way with a tea kettle, lol). Stirred it up real good. Then added about 2 tbsp of heavy cream and topped it off with a dab of whipped cream. All for about 3 grams of net carbs and even a little fiber. I'm trying to use more Stevia and less Splenda so I don't think there's anything special about the Stevia. You can use all splenda if you want.

well i normally have no problem drinking water,i usually drink a gallen or more a day but today is not a water day that is for shure.but cold water is better for your metabolism,it speeds it up and burns calories trying to warm your body back up from the coldness of the water.

hmmm, I didn't know that Charlie. I had heard that room temp or hotter water....gets assimilated into your body faster and therefore has a better flushing effect. Who knows? I like it better hot because cold water hurts my teeth!!

Petra.....Your hot chocolate sounds yummy!! I usually have some 'no sugar added' (half envelope) to my coffee every morning!! yum yum...I'm no coffee ****, but I do love those flavoured coffee's. Have you tried those sugar free DaVinci flavoured syrups? Just wondering about the carbs of those? I had them a few years ago, but can't remember the food values for them.

Valerie....Good food journal. I've noticed you have those zone bars. What flavour do you like the best? are they a meal replacement type? I've really enjoyed those Quaker Q-snack bars. Nice to see a higher protein to carb ratio....pbutter is my fave flavour.

Dinner out was great!! We went to Longhorn steakhouse. Never been before, and just like I said....grilled shrimp and asperagus. I did have about 1/3 C of rice pilaf....just enough for me. Dh and ds really enjoyed their ribeyes, while younger ds had the kids cheeseburger. Really nice size portions too. Dh goes back to work tommorow....gonna miss him!! but someone's gotta bring home the $$ MOULAH$$

Angel Eyes I love the Carmel Cluster, Fudge Graham, Mint Chocolate & Peanut butter! I think they taste really good and they do have the zone percentages of 40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein. We just got a whole bunch on sale at target!

Hey PIC's,

Sounds like a nice Sunday for you all. Me, I was working blahhhhhhhh. Short 2 girls today so it was hectic and of course I didn't get everything done that I needed to get done I did head out to the gym after work and got a nice lil workout though I've also decided that if we really really can't afford it, then I want a good piece of exercise equip at home. I'm really feeling like I'm getting a good workout on the eliptical thingy, or one they call The Strider. I'm gonna find out how it would compare to the Gazelle.....

Val~ I don't find it difficult to go to the gym at all. I have found I really love it and I want to go every night. I'm gonna work on gettin to the bottom of my man's issues lol. He pouted a little again tonight and I just reminded him that I've paid thru Feb. and if I don't use it I've wasted it. He perked up a bit so maybe he's coming around! How are things going at Ballys? Are the staff any nicer? And, what is the flaxseed bread you're eating? I'm interested in how it compares to the one I like so much lol.

Charlie~ Dinner is over and the can't drink water day is over.... time to get back on the horse and run with it! Good luck tomorrow gf! Maybe you can ask your dh to find a different place to have dinner next time you want to go out and you can plan what you will have ahead of time. ?

AngelEyes~ Happy Birthday to your house! lol. sounds like you are well on your way to being able to sustain a healthy lifestyle forever! Great choices! BTW I love to use the sf cocoa mix in my coffee too sometimes! It's not Starbucks, but then it's not 20000 calories either hehehehe.

Curly~ I sure hope you're not coming down with something other than just a sleepy Sunday afternoon. You can always do laundry tomorrow lol. What a pain on a workday tho. Have a great day!

Petra~ I'm finding (as a forever non-breakfast eater) that if I skip breakfast it does mess with me for the rest of the day now. I just want to munch all day long. Now I make it a habit to have an apple and a string cheese when I get to work.
Thanks for the advice re: Lee. He's a tough one to approach sometimes. LOL THe rest of the time he's a kittycat. I'm gonna keep up my workouts and bring it up when the time is right.

B- small apple (1), lf string cheese 1 oz (2), coffee w/sf creamer (1)
L- 3 servings of Calbee's Snap Peas (9) *not healthy as it sounds
D- 1/2 cup brown rice (2), 1 cup steamed/stirfried veggies w/4 oz prawns (7?)
S- NSA ice cream bar (3)

25 points (getting ready for my drop to 24 points after my next weigh in )
30 min circuit, 25 min cardio

Dee the flaxseed bread I'm eating is also by healthy life. It has only 40 calories a slice. I like their white and whole wheat breads also. They are all lower carb breads. Its the best bread I can find at my local grocery
