Hi everyone!

Curly your Easter challenge sounds fun!

Angel your dinner sounds great! And what a great compliment from your friend!

I went to try Womens Workout world today. I have a 7 day pass. Once again no one showed me around or taught me any of the equipment. I guess maybe clubs like curves only do that. Their cardio equipment was much older then ballys & didn't have heart monitors on them. I do like to do the fat burn on the eliptical which requires a heart check.

I'm thinking of joining either Bally's or Womens Work out World if my hubby lets me. I can get a Bally's membership for $24 on Tues, Thurs & Sat.. or I can get WWW for $21 a month everyday. I do want to keep up my curves membership for Mon, Wed & Fri. I like to do Cardio on the off days. It would be really great if I could get an eliptical at home.

Val, Why don't you just stay at Curves? You seem to be happy there.

Curly-I like your Easter egg challenge. I've been having problems with my calories lately for some reason. Next thing I know I've had 2000 calories!
How did that happen?

We got 14 inches of snow. I shoveled my snow and the old man next door. Kobe "helped" me. I did go to the gym today anyway. I need to get some weight lifting gloves.

Zoey-I never read that Apples and Pears book. You'll have to tell me what you think about it. What have you thought of your other reading so far?

I made some Clam Chowder today with celery root as the substitute potato. It is pretty good.

Howdy ladies !

Looking for input on the following... body typing ~ any body ever read about this ??

the reason I ask is someone brought a book into work that I had a read of and it basically says that most things I am eating I shouldn't be ?!?!

I fall into the Adrenal category (in this particular book) which says I should be limiting red meats, no orange/white cheese, limited eggs.. which of course doing low carb I am not limiting !!

Any thoughts anyone ??

ive read those type books but i don't put much faith into them.. i do however, believe if u carry your weight in your mid-section and have small hips and legs that its possible that your issues could be with carbs... becuz thats a sign of insulin resistance...

Curly-I haven't been out yet, but the weather man said it is 15 here with wind chills in the single digits so I feel your pain.

Doesn't Curves have classes like other gyms? If not, they should seriously think about expanding their offerings. You shouldn't have to join 2 gyms. That's ridiculous!

Teri- I don't know about the specific book you read. Some of them are full of hog wash and some have some validity. Those ones on blood type and diet are bologna but some of the ones on metabolic typing (Jillian's book, Schwazbein Principle) probably have some validity. We do know some people are more prone to insulin resistance than others, Dr. Schwarzbein talks about the effects of several other hormones depending on the lifestyle you have been living. I wouldn't get too freaked by the book. Clearly, what you are doing is working well for you and you feel well and that is what matters.

Talking 50 pounds!!

Hi Everyone!

I had my weekly weigh in today and I hit the big 50 mark! I'm really happy about it! Now I can have all 5 beads when I get my valentine bracelet tomorrow

Petra curves doesn't offer any classes. Just the circuit. They say to work out 3 days a week but since I'm serious about weight loss I work out every day. I just don't do the same workout everyday. At womens work out world I did see they have a lot of weight training machines. Maybe at some point I'll switch over to only WWW or Bally's. At this point I feel like I still need the curves workout and support. Curves is really expensive for the limited workout you can have at $39 a month. I may talk to the curves owner and tell her that I'm going to have to pay for two clubs now and if she could give me a discount. I know they don't want me to quit since I'm the biggest looser there now and they've been using me as an example to new joining members.

Greetings PIC's,

Val, that is super! Good for you!

Petra, For the Mediterranean lifestyle, I have read; Low Fat Lies, The Sonoma Diet and the Meditertranean Diet [by Cloutier]. I thought that each book had something to offer, and that the medical information was pretty sound. For general info and encouragement I liked The Thin Commandment book and Jenny Craig's What Have You Got To Lose. The Apples and Pears book was writen by a woman internist and it contains a lot of information re; body shape, hormones, the metabloic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, etc. She seems to know what she is talking about, and it is an interesting read. She separates women into two different groups depending on body type and I am not sure how sound that is.

Val - congrats on hitting the 50 mark! That is fantastic news, and I am so very proud of you. I've never heard of a pandora's bracelet so I'll have to look it up, but I love how the beads on it have a lot of meaning for you.

Curly - I so need to kick it up some. Count me in on the Easter Challenge it sounds like a most Eggsellent adventure. (Yes, I am a dork!)

I have seriously been slacking off on the exercise and it is making me both physical and mentally miserable. Tomorrow is a new day and I intend on starting off with a nice workout once I get on campus.

I don't know if I mentioned it but quite a while back my husbands uncle borrowed my treadmill. Let's just say I got it back and it's all but ruined. It was left in a front porch that leaked and it's definitely not in the excellent shape it was in when I loaned it to him. I can forget about him buying a new one too. I've been looking online at exercise equipment and I wish I knew for sure that I could do a gazelle. They look like a lot of fun, but I know that I'm elliptical illiterate so who knows.
