oh Dee... plz dont think its all smooth sailing for the rest of us... we go thru the exact same feelings... and the scale goes down 3 lbs and back up 2 for us as well (well for me anyways) What i have noticed in plotting my weight loss on fit day's graph is that its not a astraight line down from point A to point B..

The first chunk of weight that you lose does go woosh .. then u hit a point where your body wants to fight back and keep the weight... or perhaps lets it go more slowly.... kinda like its hoping that you will give up and give the weight back... BUT this is when its the hardest... you have to just keep at it... plodding along and show it WHO IS THE BOSS! and let your body know that you are not gonna go back to your old ways!!!

its a good idea to examine what u are eating.. see if u have been easing any extras back into your eating... but also Dee realize there comes a point in this journey.. where you can be doing everything right ... yet the scale doesnt move... and wont move till your body is ready again to "turn the weight loose"

Just hang in there .. and keep plugging away... the woosh will come back..

Val: that is great news.. i saw a thread on the exercise section that gave a link to a beginners plan at bally's (which machines to do and how long)

Angel: i havent had any luck either with the crisp bread guess we will have to order it online..

Curly~ Believe me, I know it hasn't been easy for anyone here. It's a difficult struggle and you all have won huge battles, and made huge strides.
In my case, being completely frank with myself, I have not been following my program. I felt I was in control of it and I could tweak it to suit my wants. It has nothing to do with a normal plateau. I have experienced those in the past too lol.... and next time I hit one I plan on looking at you for some inspiration!!! But for now, I have admitted I am not in control here. I am following my book. Counting my points, making healthy choices within those points and mostly, not hiding from myself. Not hiding the extra-size helpings under the lettuce and saying it's only a cup, not hiding the wrappers and thinking nobody saw me eat it- it's ok now so I don't have to write it down

Thanks so much for the nice post. lol, it almost made me cry to know that someone (whom I really don't even know) cares.
Thank you all! And once I get my head straight, I'll hope to be as much help to someone else as you have all been to me.

Gotta hit the road girls. YOu all have a WONDERFUL day!!!!

Just posting to let you know that I'm still alive. I've had a rough couple of days and have been extremely stressed. Thank God I've stayed on plan and haven't been stress eating.

I try not to ingest any artificial sweeteners they make me feel awful.

Dee- I wish my parents were paying for my college. Well they would have if I would have gone to school when I was under their roof. Now it's an extreme sacrifice on my family for me to go. They don't complain, but I feel guilty not being able to work full-time because of school. That and I just can't get motivated this semester.

Val - I hope your back is feeling better. What a pain... literally. I remember going for a physical when I was 17 and the Dr told me that I have a curvature of the spine, but it was a good thing that I was short. This was the Dr that told me I was fat at 120 pounds. (I don't like him)

Mornin' PICs

Iwmonn.....You asked about Sonoma. I do think that it is something I can stick to long term and I seem to be losing the best on it. I am just finishing phase 1, though, and I imagine that things will slow down on phase 2. I know that if you just hang in there, you will find what works best for you..

TLB.....You are one busy lady!

Valerie.....I am glad to hear that your back is better. I had surgery for spinal stenosis about 6 years ago and it helped a lot although I still have some problems.

Curly.....I second everything that you said about weight loss, except that at 68 I don't see a lot of wooshing I seem to 'woosh' the best on Sonoma.

AngelEyes.....I am so glad that the bad news session with the dentist is over for you.

Charlie.....I was wondering what you were up to.

BeatlesFan.....Good for you for hanging in there OP in spite of the stress.

Petra.....My take on exercise is that it is important to keep moving in order to lose or keep weight off, but I don't think that the average person will keep up a very strenuous program long term. My weight crept up over last winter when I quit my walking program and sat at the computer for way too long every day. [Didn't do my house a lot of good either]

I have lost 1 more pound, which makes me happy! I go to phase 2 on Sunday and will have to see what happens then. I got menus written out, the kitchen cleaned out of unhealthy stuff, and we went out to get groceries yesterday, so that I can try to work DH on the program. I have started baking bread again with what he calls "lots of sticks and twigs". I notice that he is eating more bread these days though.

This is a very long post for me. I had best quit to all.

Woohoo...Zoey!!! You may be 68 yo but you are a maaahhhhvelous one at that. WTG.

Charlie..... oh no....girl guide cookies!!! Tell me its NOT THAT time of year. BTW, what is snow cream? Obviously something made of snow but never heard of it.

Iwmonn.....Congratulations on the "eyes wide open" campaign. We've all been there believe me, good for you for taking the time to look within to see any changes.

Today's been a good day. I did a little shopping and was very surprized to see that I now fit some "Larges"....I was in shock actually!!! My dilema (if you call it that?) was whether to buy a purple top in an XL and have it a bit big, or buy the same top in a L in a pretty butter colour and have it fit perfectly. The butter colour won out for a rock bottom clearance price of $7.00 !!! Decisions, decesions!!!! Famours Barr was having a 70% off sale with another 15% off as well. How could I go wrong? hehe...so I bought 3 more tops!!! Anyone try Boca burgers? I LOVE THEM!!! Recently I have tried there Chik'n burger and their Soy Cheeseburgers. YUM YUM....I can't get enough of them. Thats my tip for the day. Have a good one.

I love boca burgers! I've tried to convince my Dad to try them, but he remembers the tvp that Mom used to buy in a can. Ewww!

You guys have been a bunch of chatty cathy's. That's a good thing. I'm officially on vacation! YEAH!!! I brought in the rest of my outside Christmas decorations this afternoon and since we were having a nice day (nearly 60), I took the boys to the dog park which was basically a big mud bath. I hadn't been to the dog park before but it was fun. The boys had a great time but we will definately be getting baths tomorrow. Then I took myself out to dinner and I splurged and had a sweetpotato with my steak. That is the first potato of any description I have had in almost a year so we will have to see what the consequences are. If I wake up swollen like a balloon and gained 5 lbs. tomorrow I'll know why and I won't be repeating this experiment. I bet I'm the only person you know who cheats on their low carb diet by eating steel cut oats and sweetpotatoes, LOL! (Not in the same day of course)

My grocery store stopped carrying the 2% Carb Countdown milk. I'm very upset about this! So now I either have to switch to Fat Free or I have to go to another store to buy milk! One of the joys of low carbing is that I can have full fat versions of things so I sort of resent that having to get the fat free stuff. In fact, the full fat versions of things usually have fewer carbs.

Charlie-I now have a patient on the herbal life diet also so she was filling me in on the details of your plan. Sounds a lot like Slim Fast actually. I worry about those because I'm not sure how people do when they make the transition back to regular food.

Dee-glad you did some soul searching there. Hope you have been keeping my commandments on your fridge. The longer I go on this journey, the more convinced I am of the similarities to substance abuse disorders. In fact, this is harder than giving up cigarettes, or alcohol, or cocaine. You can live with out those things, but you can't live without food. We have to learn to use our substance in moderation, although there may be some foods that some of us have to live without because the consequences just aren't worth it.

Angel-I seem to be getting your weather about 2 days after you. I feel a shopping trip coming on this week too.

I have become completely obsessed with the fact that I will have loose hanging skin I hit my goal weight. Does anyone else worry about this? Errrrrgghhh why do I always put the cart before the horse?

Gwena-I don't think you are going to have as much as you think. I was worried about this too and asked about it on the protein power board. We have someone there who lost about 220 lbs. I actually asked her about her loose skin. She says it doesn't really bother her. We have someone else who lost 100 lbs and he says he has very little. So far, I only have a little on my arms. I think that is one of the benefits of losing it slowly and doing some exercise along the way.

I was reading the 6th commandment in the Thin Commandments tonight and I got very excited because this is the only diet book I have read so far (and I've read almost 20) where the author advocates abstinence from trigger foods. He calls it "boxing out" problem foods. This is the only author I have read who agrees with my approach. I can't believe it! He also wrote something in here that I think is wonderful and I'm going to share. A lot of people think my approach is harsh but the truth is, it has been liberating.

"Once a food is eliminated from your diet, you will be able to live with a new sense of freedom and control--and most of all success. My clients who have made a decision to Box Out a food have discovered one of the great secrets of weight control: Far from feeling deprived without a certain food, they felt liberated--from cravings and old struggles and from years of failure with their weight--and they find it's much easier to live without it."

OMG!!! Someone else sees it the same way! He goes on to say how he thought this was harsh at first but his clients have taught him that this is the only way for some of them.

Hi Ladies,

Charliekay~ Good to see you again! Keep coming back. Are you a Troop Leader? I loved when I was a GS lol.. even if I was kind of a nerd.

Gwena~ I hope things mellow out for you. Going to school with a family to deal with at the same time must me rough sometimes. Sounds like you are lucky to have a fam that supports you Take some deep breaths, a maybe a lil walk between classes. Think nice thoughts....

Zoey~ GJ on another pound and WTG writing up menus in advance!!! Cleaning the cupboards is my next chore. Lee has given the ok to get the nasty stuff out of the house. He says He doesn't need it either. (as far as the cookies, sweets, basic junk/snack food etc). I have a habit of bringing stuff like that home when it comes in with damaged packaging or goes out of date at the store. Now, it will be donated to the Senior Center- with the rest of the stuff I don't like lol)

AngelEyes~ Thanks Sounds like a great score shopping! I get to spend a couple hundred $ on clothes when my tax refund comes back... but I'm gonna hold it until my clothes are baggy and falling off. hehehe... I can't wait!
BTW- all the Boca "meats" are really good. We carry a huge line. My favorite are the chicken patties too. ummmm or maybe the sausage links... hmmmm hard to choose. lol.

Petra~ I totally agree with your comparison of eating vs. drug-alcohol abuse. I've used that analogy for 20 years with the exact reasons you state. LOL giving up alcohol/ganj/cigarrets was a BREEZE compared to all of this! And yes lol... I forgot I told you I was going to post your commandments on the fridge and yes they are still there. I think they really helped me realize what I was doing to myself.

Val~ How ya feeling GF? Hang in there!

K, here's my journal for today. When Lee called this afternoon and suggested pizza I freaked at first. Then I realized I had enough points to actually have it, and not feel guilty for it. So, no lying about it *nods*

Coffee w/sf creamer 1
B- Small Apple 1
B- 1 oz LF String Cheese 2
S- ff popcorn (portion controlled!) 1
L- 4 oz Smoked Turkey meat 4
L- 1 oz LF Cheddar 2
L- 2 Corn Thins 1
D- 2 Slices Pizza 12
D- Bowl of Broccoli 0
D- FF yogurt 2
for a grand total of 26 points!! I have to find a way to consume 2 more points..... maybe a Corn Thin and a bit of cheese later??

Everyone Enjoy the weekend (for those of you that get weekends ), and Petra- enjoy your whole week off!!!!!! TTYL

Hi PIC's!

Gwena I do give some thought to if I'll have extra skin. I already know that a surgery to remove stomach skin is around $5000. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I was bad with my eating today. Not being able to go to curves threw me off. I did go to bally's at night and did 15 eliptical, 15 treadmill & 15 bike for a total of 45 minutes. It's that damn peanut butter gets me every week. I won't be surprised if I don't have a loss this week on Monday

Friday, January 20, 2006

B: Zone Bar (210)
L: PB & J sandwich (280)
S: No pudge sundae cone (110)

S: PB & J on rye (340)
