  • Mornin' PICs

L2L & TLB you are on fire good to see your posts!

Val that rum dumb at Ballys had a lot of nerve. Bummer. I agree with Curly, you should let his supervisor and the discovery challenge people know about his nasty behavior. You deserve *so* much better!

  • Just checking in before my Algebra class. Does anyone want to go in my place?

I worked out as soon as I got on campus this morning. My muscles are coming alive, alive I tell you.

Val - that butt crack at Bally's needs to be reprimanded. I am highly disappointed that they didn't at least offer you an orientation time to get a tour of the facility and an demo of the equipment, but I'm even angrier at his dismissive attitude.

    Off to class.
  • Hi PIC's!

I did a little research on Bally's and I guess the employees are really trained to do a hard sell on people. They even go so far as to make people feel bad about being overweight to join. I've also read they make a lot of mistakes with their automatic billing. I like curves because I can just give them a check and they don't need my credit card info.

I'm probably going to keep using the free Bally's pass but I'm doubtful about joining now.

It's interesting about the whole people looking at me issue. I use to feel like I was invisible when I was at my highest weight. It was like most people didn't look at me at all & I kind of got use to that. Now I'm visable to people again it's weird. Like guys are holding doors for me. Handing me things at the market. I suppose I'm goning to have to adjust to this but I liked being ignored and invisible.
  • Val-I know what you mean about the attention you start to get and you wonder where is this coming from? You haven't noticed me for the past 5 years so you may as well keep right on moving buster!

The bigger issue for me has actually been patients coming in and oohing and aahing over my weight loss and wanting to know exactly what I am doing which I really don't want to go into. First of all, it is their time to talk about themselves and second, just because I have found something that works for me doesn't mean it would work for them. In fact, I recognize that the plan I am on would work for a small minority of people.

I may have to check out the Q bars. I'm always looking for portable snack food because I usually end up eating peanuts at the hospital and that quickly gets out of hand.
  • Hi everyone,

I went back to Bally's after dinner today. It's nice that they have a lot better hours then curves.

I had a bit of trouble getting in because the jerkoff who tried to sign me up yesterday wrote expired over my coupon which is supposed to be good into march! I did get in and did an eliptical for 15 mintues and a cardio bike for 15 mintues. It was a good workout!

  • Hey, we fell off the first page. Where is everyone?
  • this morning i thought i would give the "egg Beaters" a try cuz i have been hitting the eggs hard .. they arent half bad! atcually i think i like them better than real eggs...
  • Mornin' Ladies

I am down one more pound. I just might get there yet! I would never make it without all of you PICs though.

Val.....Why would that idiot write expired on your coupon? He sounds like a naughty little boy having a tantrum.

Petra.....What do you think of Aspartame? It is in the flavored coffee that I like to have in the AM, [along with some unhealthy fat]. I have just one cup a day, but it dooesn't exactly fit in the Sonoma plan.

Have we lost the turtle for good? I miss her posts.

  • Hi girls. I've been having a hard time since Monday's dentist appt. Turns out I was there much longer (3 hours) and barely made it home to crawl into bed. I did make the boys mac 'n cheese and some soft eggs for me as thats about all I could eat. Dh took care of them the rest of the night while I was in bed. Holy cow!!....2 days later, my jaw is still very tender....teeth are all right, and I get my perm. crowns in 2 weeks. Yesterday was a complete write off and I ate all the wrong foods.(one big giant carb fest) I was clearly turning to comfort foods since I was feeling so out of whack. Hopefully today will be a much better day, I had a balanced breakfast and just a quick pop in here before heading to the gym. I have to get motivated to 'just do it' and feel better about myself. I think I need my own pep talk!!! lol Oh yeah,,,, I was also up 2 lbs on Monday.
  • grrr sounds like me down 3... back up 1 body is just fighting it all the way... seems like if i am not exercising 2 hrs a day i dont lose..

hope u feel better soon Angel!
  • Hi Everyone!

I just got back from a workout at curves.

Curly I do love eggbeaters! at only 60 calories for a half cup it's great!

Zoey congrats on the pound! I dont' like Aspartame (neutrasweet). I like splenda better, or even better yet I love Stevia in my tea!

Angel I hope your jaw feels better soon. It sounds really painful!

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Zoey-as with all the artificial sweeteners before aspartame, when the FDA approves them, they didn't take into account that some people were going to consume huge quantities of them. If you are talking about the equivalent of a packet or two a day, that is probably not a problem but there is mounting evidence that consumption of large quantities is toxic to parts of your brain (like drinking a case of diet pepsi a day). So far, splenda still appears safe but every other artificial sweetener has turned out to have some problem after it has been on the market for some time so I would be cautious with it as well. You might want to try the stevia. It is not an artificial product and it is quite good. There should be no surprises with it.
  • Thanks, Val and Petra. I think that I am going to have to change my coffee habit and come up with a new plan. The coffee that I really like is French Vanilla Cafe' [instant mix] with sugar. When I started with Sonoma I moved to the sugar free, but I don't really like that as well. I prefer Splenda too, Val, when I have a choice.

Petra, I have yet to try Stevia. Two books I ordered came today. The Thin Commandments, and The Perfect Fit Diet.

    zoey

ps I don't need any more holes in my brain!
  • Happy reading Zoey. I think you are in for a treat on both counts.

For those of you who think my suggestion about abstinence from trigger foods is harsh, I have to give you this quote from the Thin Commandments which just about had me howling with laughter. He is talking about strategies for handling snack foods in the house for other family members that are a problem for you.

"If nothing else works, lock all snacks in a cash box with a combination lock, and make sure only those who eat the snacks enclosed have the combination."
