  • Curly-so you need to add some calories for your exercise.

Teri-how about some nuts? Just be careful, you can easily get carried away with them. They can be like the "potato chips" of low carbing. Celery with nut butters are also good. Don't know if you caught the funny conversation on the protein power board about someone always having celery in his car. I was dying laughing over that one.
  • Petra....CONGRATULATIONS on the 180's !!!! woohooo I loved the article quotes you posted. Especially...."do I like it enough to wear it?" SO TRUE!!!!

Curly....I wondered about your calorie intake also. With all the excercise you are doing, I bet your body is going into starvation mode and wondering what the heck is going on? Hang in there

Just got back from a great workout. I think I mentioned I want to go in a 5 k race come April, so I've kicked up my treadmill and workouts. HOLY MOLY...am i going to sleep well tonight. Normally I don't workout at night but I didn't get to go during the day as the dentist took me for an impromptu appt. Turns out my gum is infected all around one of my temp crowns and that would explain why my headaches are so intense as well as jaw pain.
  • Angel eyes sorry to hear about your gums being infected. I hope it heals up fast. Are you taking any antibiotics for it?

I hope everyone had a good day today! I've been pretty good

  • Good Evenin' All,

Another great day here on the coast! Sunny and warm. The kind of day where you go outside and it's warmer than inside lol. Tomorrow is supposed to be my day off and I planned an earlyish morning getting my gym orientation. I forgot I promised to work for a few hours to cover for our Deli Girl who's on vacation. grrrrrrrrrrrrr..... Hopefully I'll be done by 10 and off to the gym. I'm really excited. I weigh myself about every morning on my not-totally-reliable-home-scale, and altho I don't hold myself accountable to it- I kinda use it as a guideline for myself between official weigh-ins, it's reading some of the lowest numbers I've seen. I'm thinking last week was more water weight than anything else and maybe I'll be rewarded well for my work at staying OP this week.....

Petra~ You put out some really interesting reading there. I can really relate to a lot of the things you are quoting. Thanks, . I sure hope your body is feeling much better. Sounds like some nice hot soaks in da tub are in order. Guess the ol' "no pain-no gain" is not a myth lol.

Val~ 1/2 lb isn't a huge deal physically, and maybe even expected eventually. Mentally it's a bi*** tho. You have been doing so freakin' well and you will continue to do well! How's your back feeling these days? Is it any better after a few days of tx? & hang in there Val, you'll be back in the game in short time.

Curly~ you too. How's the feet? DId you do another treatment on them lol? I'm wondering about mixing up your calories too..... ANGELEYES???? doesn't Jillian address that in her book- something about "fooling" the body???? I hope I'm not sounding too confused lol. Good Luck Curly!!!!

Zoey~ LOL YOu are going to be as well read on all the diets as Petra & Curly. I don't think I could do without my red meat either. I went vegetarian for about a year sometime back. Quite a feat since I really don't care for veggies lol. Good Readin' to ya!

Charliekay~ Owning restaurants is tough! 3 of them even!!!!! LOL doesn't it figure you want pizza now lol. Hang in there- and re-read Petras last post a couple times

WooooHOOOOOO to losers TLB & AngelEyes!!!!!! :hugs: there too!

I found it hard to eat all my points today. They say not to eat under points...... At the same time, My main problem stems from eating when I'm not hungry......

    B- coffee/sf creamer (1), small apple (1)
S- 1 oz full fat cheddar cheese (3)
    L- 2 oz smoked turkey (2), 1 oz lf string cheese (2)
    D- Leftovers! 1 1/2Cup beef&veggie steamed stirfry (7), 1/2cup mashed pots (2), 1cup carrots (1), 1 slice ww bread (2) small amount Earth Balance (1)

Total 22 points. Do I actually eat 6 more points tonight???
  • well just to save my sainty i checked my measurements and

    since october i have lost

    2" offmy thighs
    3" off my waist
and another 2" off my hips so i am gettin smaller just not lighter lmao!
  • Well I realized last night that my problem with my legs seems to be more than soreness. It's not that I don't want to use my muscles because they hurt, I actually CAN'T use them which has me a bit concerned. So, I'm calling the doctor and going to get checked out today. I have a feeling that even if I did tear something, there isn't much they can do for it but I may be staying home for awhile.
  • Curly - great job on the inches..those NSVs are exactly what you need to keep going !!

Petra - when you first started protein power did you get to a point where you thought if I eat another piece of meat I think I will die !! My hubby cooked himself bacon and eggs this morning and the smell is killing me (to the point of feeling nauseous). I have the door wide open trying to get some fresh air into the house and all I can think is give me a big bowl of fruit I hope that all turns out well with the doctor and that you haven't done any major damage to yourself !!

Well, time for me to hit the books..another long day of studying ahead.

    Take care and TTYS
  • thanks dee,yes it is very hard owning pizza places.it smells soo good now that i can't have it.
  • Morning PICs,

Curly.....Great job with the measurements. Even though the scale doesn't always move, something is happening!

Petra....For someone who doesn't think that exercise makes a great deal of difference, you are certainly pushing yourself. I hope that you feel better soon. Take care! I am about halfway through Low Fat Lies, which is another good Mediterranean Diet book. {Read about it in one of your posts and picked it up for $00.38}.

    Hugs to all. zoey
  • Curly congrats on the inches! See you are still loosing

Petra I hope you feel better soon! It sounds like your're really hurting. A doctor visit might not be a bad idea.
  • Well, went to the doctor today and I have strained both of my quadriceps. I have a referral for some physical therapy and no lower body exercises for the rest of the week. He thinks I"ll be able to return to work on Monday but we'll see how I'm doing at the end of the week. This is certainly ruining my vacation. I wanted to go shopping.
  • yikes! get some rest... i hope u are feeling better soon!
  • Petra....Gosh!! getting healthy is supposed to be good for you. Sorry to hear that your quads are strained!!! yikes. They are such a major muscle, they affect almost everything that you do. Hope the physio helps you to feel better. I agree...IT SUCKS!!!

Curly.....There ya go, GF!!! You are doing something right if you've lost THAT MUCH!!! That is excellent, btw....did you also take a before pic when you started? I charted my measurements but wish I had taken a pic.

Charlie.....The smell has got to be a killer!! Could you do your own version of a whole wheat dough for your pizza? Maybe a veggie version with rf or ff cheese on it? There has to be some perks being the owner and all??

Iwmonn.....How did your gym orientation go? Lucky you!!!
  • Hey PIC's,

Petra~ Wow I"m sorry to hear you hurt yourself! Just work on what you can, lol but I"m sure you already know that advice cuz I've seen you give it a time or two hehehh. Think of all the moolah you're saving for your next shopping trip. It'll be double the fun!

Curly~ Awesome job and Congratulations on the inches!!!!! I was sure something had to be happening for you (as hard as you work and all). Bet you feel sexier than allgetout right about now! WOOOHOOOOOOOO.

TLB~ I love meat! Sometimes I'd love a diet of just meat lol... but there are those days when fruit and veggies are so yummy too. I feel for ya GF. But You are enjoying Protein Power right? And it's working for you? Good Luck with it TLB! Think positively Ohhhhh wait- where did you manage to find a husband who will cook for himself??? hehehe

CharlieKay~ I love pizza smells too... we only have it once every couple months. Livin' out here in the sticks makes the fastfood/restaurant issue a lot easier to deal with lol. Good luck keeping it out of your mouth! Keep your eye on your goal.

AngelEyes~ I LOVED my gym orientation. I can't wait to continue! 10 min on the elliptical and I thought I was gonna die lmao... but it looks out over the ocean and is actually really relaxing. I found it amusing that there are 2 TV's in the cardio section (muted w/cc) one tuned to CNN and the other on... The Food Network So we did about an hour on circuit machines, then 20 more on the bike for more cardio. I'm tired now, but exhilerated at the same time.. thanks for asking lol.

ttyl girls... gonna go enjoy some sunshine and 70 out there today.
  • Teri-I forgot to answer your meat question. Yes, I get burned out on meat sometimes. Tuna makes a nice break for lunch. I also do those yogurt smoothies with the protein powder for breakfast a lot, or yogurt with berries and nuts for a meal. Cottage cheese is another good option. There for awhile I would hard boil eggs for breakfast. You could do that with a bran type cereal thing (did you see my post for monitor monday?) Organic Peanut butter on low carb toast is another popular option. Hope that gives you some ideas. Also, the ricotta pancakes. Browse the recipe section on the PP board.

Oh, if you like spinach, I have a spinach pie recipe from Four Corners.
