now this is funny.. my mom had gone out and bought me a bunch of those healthy choice dinners.. ya the ones full of white rice and white pasta.. so i look up in the freezer and dont feel like cooking... and pull one out with meat, veggie and rice.. i cook it and i swear....
the smell of the white rice just turned my stomach... i couldnt even think about putting it in my mouth..... but chai enjoyed it!! i just had the meat and the veggie!
Petra I'm sorry about your sprain. That really stinks for your vacation. I hope you feel better soon!
Dee your gym sounds wonderful! Imagine looking over the ocean while working out! All I can look at when I'm at Bally's is a muted TV! Sounds like you had a really long workout today! I hope you're not sore tomorrow!
Curly you really have yourself trained about the rice. I won't eat it at home but if it comes with a meal I might have a little bit. I did have a couple of spoonfulls of fried rice on saturday.
I had another chiro appointment today and he said I can go back to curves now *yay*

Exercise 45 mintues cardio at Bally's
Val~ it's cool to have that view. Only get that from the cardio tho so I'll be working on my stamina there for sure. LOL... It was a long workout but we spent time talking about and working on form. I'm thinking only my shoulders may be sore cuz they already are a little bit now. One of the stations meant to work my chest was hurting my shoulders. We stopped that one until she could get one of the more experienced trainers to help me with that one. It's a tiny gym- very busy cuz it's the only one for 1 1/2 hours in any direction. It's well equipped, and everyone is really nice, and best of all..... no cutsie gym bunnies in thongs I'm so happy you are feeling better Val!!!! Have fun at Curves!
Curly~ Isn't it funny how those meals are marketed as being so healthy for you when we know now that they really aren't so great? Kudos to your mom for trying to help tho. I think that's really sweet.
I didn't eat well today. Not that I binged or anything, or ate really bad stuff- I jsut didn't follow good habits. I didn't eat any breakfast before I went to the gym and was famished when I finally got home. I had a Ham & cheese sandwich on ww bread. Then Later I had a piece of ww bread with 1T PB on it. For Dinner I ate 1 cup spinach pasta with sauteed cabbage- (btw I measured it and got a lot more than I would have had I eyeballed it), 1 cup fresh green beans, 8oz skirt steak . And I'm gonna have to estimat another 1/2cup pasta/cabbage stuff while cooking and cleaning up- ().I'll have to figure out points but I think I may be way under again. Tomorrow I'll get back on a good meal plan again.
Oh yeah, TOM finally reared it's ugly head this morning.. grrrrrrrrrr. But I didn't let it stop me from my intended plans! YaYYYYYY for me
Well i had an awesome workout last night I had a pair of those Kathy Smith weights that u wear on your hands like gloves and added those to my workout by the time i was done my hair was soaked.. doesnt seem like a 1/2 lb on each hand would make a lot of difference but it sure does!
i'm sitting here procrastinating cuz work is insane this week by 4 yesterday i was ready to rip my hair out.. you would think when u are dealing with people calling about thier health insurance benefits that the members would be the ones that are harder to deal with ... NOPE its the providers offices... they are so unprofessional and just plain nasty and mean... that it just wears me out.. i spend a good 5 min arguing with them about who they need to call for status of claims... then they want my supervisor cuz they think she is gonna tell them something different.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!
ITS gonna be a ruff one today .. the other secretary is off, that means i get all the incomming calls today.. sometimes 5 at a time... I am so glad i am off friday!!!!!!!!!
anyways Petra u take care of that injury and get some rest...
LOL Curly~ I used to be one of the physician offices who lost patience with the insurance companies. OH, and the reason the patients aren't as bad as you'ld think they should be is cuz they harassed US to take care of the insurance issues FOR them lol. With the Dr's and Office mgrs on our butts for answers they want yesterday, it was never personal. Just frustration and self preservation Let me just say sorry we lose patience wif ya's and I hope you had a better day today
~~~I just saw on the news ya'll got some nasty traffic issues with the beltway. Hope it doesn't affect you GF!
So I finally added my points from yesterday and OMG!! I was like 10 OVER!!! Gotta watch that. Since I try not to use my activity points (which I actually did earn yesterday lol) and I don't use the flex points often, and I do try to estimate my foods and portions high, I'll be ok Tonight is weigh-in and I'm sure I'll be happy this time. Good diet and exercise has made me feel so much better about myself.
Question~ Will it make me weigh in higher if I go to weigh in directly from working out? I think I heard that somewhere..... I don't remember where or exactly why it stated that, other than at the time I read it, it seemed to make sense.......
I'm sore today too lol. mostly my neck/shoulders and my inner thighs. That is not gonna stop me from hitting the gym on my way to the meeting tonight tho! I'll do 30 min cardio.
ROFL I know that feeling of {cringe} venturing! I hate having to go off the coast and into traffic. I can't imagine the beltway lol... just a stop light is enuf to intimidate me Thanks for the info. Any ideas where I might find info. I'm really curious. However it will not stop me from my mission. I'll workout first then go grocery shopping, then to my meeting *nods*. THat'll give me a little rest between lol.
Val~ did you do Curves today??? I sure hope you're feeling much better. BTW have you been checking your sugars? Or had a recent A1c done? I bet things are looking much much better with the weight loss and all the exercise you've done! After I was diagnosed, and I was exercising 5 days week, I had my glucose into within normal limits! Off topic~ I was talking to Otter last night and we were rehashing old WBS days *sigh*.... I wonder if a reunion would be feasible? hmmmmmm...
I did go to curves today! And I just finished 45 mintues of Tae Bo! I think I'm an exercise additct now I feel bad I haven't been testing my sugar. I can't afford to buy the strips right now.
i baked some chicken thighs for dinner cuz they were cheap cheap.. and took the skin off before i baked them and cooked the skin for chai... he really seemed to enjoy it!
I had my slow burn session tonight with the trainer. We only did upper body stuff because of my leg injury. We had a nice chat about what happened to me on Sat. I found out that the woman who taught my body sculpting class is a new instructor and apparently didn't know to give modifications for the newcomers to the class. They do that in yoga and pilates--they give several options depending on how advanced you are but she didn't give any modifications on Sat. I just went until I felt like my limb was going to fall off. The other thing the trainer pointed out that I should have realized is that pain immediately after exercise is NEVER normal. You should not get sore for 24-48 hours after you exercise, so the fact that I was in pain and was barely able to make it down the steps to my car after the class was an indication that I had injured myself. She will make sure the instructor gets some feedback about how to handle newcomers to her class so that no one else gets hurt.
I have worked out every day this week!! I feel so good about that. I'm tweaking my workouts around and am gradually upping my cargo to a full 30 minutes after my workout. Currently I'm doing 10 minutes before and 20 minutes after weight training - so I'm getting there. It may just be psychological, but I've been working out for almost 2 weeks and I do feel stronger and leaner. Now if the scales would just "lean" on down some more I'll be set.
Curly - Chai is definitely spoiled! Then again my Pixie enjoyed the yolk from a hard boiled egg tonight.
Petra - I hope your getting around a lot better now. It sounds like you have an excellent trainer I am curious to hear what a slow burn session consists of.
Gwena--I guess you weren't here when I started this. I believe I do 11 machines. You lift the heaviest weight you can handle very slowly. 3 seconds for the first inch, then 7 seconds to complete the full range of motion up, 3 seconds for the first inch down, 7 seconds to complete the rest of the rep. You continue this until your muscle completely fatigues which should be in 3-6 reps. I normally do Chest Press, Knee Flexion (Hamstrings), Leg Press (Quads), Hip Adduction, Lat Pulldowns, Shoulder Side Raises, Overhead Shoulder Press, Rowing Torso, Bicep Curl, Abdominal Crunches, Lower Back Extension. We didn't do any lower body ones or back extension tonight because they require my quads for support. In case anyone wondered, my heart rate gets up to about 180 by the time I'm done.
I was doing 180 lbs on the leg press before I injured myself. It's hard to believe I could do that kind of damage to a muscle that was so strong.
Petra - I can definitely understand why they call that a slow burn! Yowza!! I love doing leg presses and squats, but I'm not sure if I'm up for the slow burn. It sounds intimidating.
