I don't get it....you eat the cookies in place of meals? How do you learn how to eat in the real world when you don't want to buy any more cookies? It is good that you are monitored by doctors - is it working? Do you think you are learning enough to maintain what you lose? I was really curious (cookies are a great motivator ) - I found this thread about it. Is it really that low cal? I don't want to sound unsupportive - but this kind of stuff really worries me. Just getting the weight off fast isn't the answer...maintenance is hard enough when you have lost slowly through healthy diet and exercise. I just worry you are setting yourself up to fail if you use a very low calorie diet.
Ok - Gina get off the soap box...
drmom!!! Passenger, rider...it's all good!! Enjoy the ride either way
Gina I am with you. I don't get that cookie diet. I think it could be to fast to lose the weight. And you are so right about the closer you get to goal it is harder to lose and maintain the losses. Slow and steady is a better way. I also worry about these kind of diets. Plus I don't like cookies all that much so I can't imagine eating them for a meal replacement. The web site is a little bit of a mystery. I've never even heard of it, but they don't have them in Colorado.
Another hot day in Colorado! Have a great day chicks and keep on keep'n on!
Another wonderful day here in Central Florida and I'm off to the pool as soon as the windshield replacement guy shows up. I suddenly have a crack in the windshield of the little Ranger truck that I run around in. Waaaah!
Have been cooking on plan and enjoying it after eating out so much last week. Angie....try eating moderate amounts of whole grains, nuts, lean meats, veggies and fruits while leaving out anything WHITE & starchy.....like potatoes, white breads, white rice, etc. You can still eat breads, rices and pastas...just buy the whole grain kinds like Barilla Plus, etc. Also lay off white sugar...use Splenda instead...and before you know it, you'll be losing weight without cravings!
Hope you're all planning a great weekend. Get out there and ride!
Ok, first off...Gina...LOVED the joke!! Too funny!
Welcome drtrdrmom!!
Angie- I don't know the specifics of your plan (I kinda looked at it), but I totally understand how you feel about being desperate to lose. I count calories. My calories do range from 1200-1600 during the week, but I am not losing. I usually have 1 day off where I don't count calories...so maybe thats the problem. Maybe being on a very low calorie diet isnt a bad idea as long as you do some research in advance about the maintainance part. My Dr. even suggested that I do VLCD. Good luck!
Harley-Congrats on the 1.6!
Jill- Have fun at the pool!
I got some test results back from my doctor. She diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which I suspected. She put me on Metformin for it. She also said that my prolactin level was too high which I believe has to do with pituitary glands and thyroid. She wants it re-checked in a month and possibly a MRI and other tests done too. So, we'll see. Maybe that's why weight just isnt coming off. It's so frustrating. I really do try MOST of the time. I eat low fat, whole grains, chicken, turkey, fruits and veggies and I can't get the scale to budge. I've even REALLY kicked up the exercise this week. Still no losses. Grrr...The only way I ever lose is when I've eaten so little that my stomach aches and growles all day. It's craziness, I tell ya.
Hmmm...Plans for the weekend... well, Big Dog motorcycles is having their massive block party called Tornado Rally this weekend, so we'll be there tomorrow. Today I am going to mow, clean the house, do laundry since we'll be doing fun stuff this weekend!
Raining cats and dogs here in Central Florida today, thanks to Tropical Storm Alberto. We're soooo thankful for this storm, as it's mainly rain...no wind...and we're so dry here. This will help. I hope we get as much H2O as they're predicting for tonight and tomorrow. Bet you're already soaked there in Miami....aren't you Angis!
Reb.....glad you got some of your test results back....now maybe you can find out what's causing your plateau. I hate when it happens....especially when I'm trying my *** off with staying on both my eating and exercise plans! This week I have my mammogram on Wednesday....I'm always a little nervous about it since my mom died of breast cancer when she was just a couple of years older than I am right now. I'll keep ya's posted....I go to a diagnostic imaging center, so I get the results before I leave there. I don't know I told ya or not...but I had a bone scan last week and they said I have the bones of a 25 year old. Why can't that happen with my face and arms???!!! LOL
Holly....we're talking about going to NY in mid-August to visit our riding buds, and if we do we'd be attending the bike rally there in Stowe, VT, as well as riding in the EyeCandy Run, which is a run through VT and NH, I believe. I'll let ya'll know if we decide we can do it...depends on if my HH thinks he can be away from work then.
That's about it from this neck of the woods! Hope everyone has had a fantastic weekend!
Wow what a weekend! I went white water rafting on Saturday and had sooo much fun. The rapids where 3's and 4's and it was a blast. The water was so cold from the snow melt 40 degress! It is also running very fast and strong right now. The trip we took for an all day usually ends about 10 miles shorter than what we did because the water is running so fast. They only get to run it about 10 times a year. So glad I went in early June as time goes on the water gets slower and lower.
Sounds like everyone is having a good start of summer. Got to love the nice weather and getting out on the scoots is always an added bonus!
Reb good luck with all your stuff! I have a girl friend that just found out she has something wrong with her thyroid. It can really mess you up! I had no idea it did so much.
Hope you all have a great Monday! Keep on Keep'n on Chicks. Gina keep tell'n those funny jokes to us!
Hi chickies!!
I've been slacking on the posting...but not on the riding! Except today. Today I was running late and the forecast was for possible showers. I wussed out and drove the car. Dunno if it ever rained - I haven't been outside.
Harleymom - rafting - too !!
Jill - hope you haven't washed away with those big storms in FL!! It looks pretty scary on the news.
Reb - I hope the meds get everything straightened out. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid right about the same time I started losing weight. I do think it helped.
Well - I'm looking forward to going camping with DH this weekend...it's like pulling teeth talking him into taking a Saturday off.
Jill - hope you haven't washed away with those big storms in FL!! It looks pretty scary on the news.
Yep...the news has been hypin' up NOTHING....we had 3" of rain....and everyone has had less than that. We sure did need it and were hoping for 8-10 inches for liquid sunshine!!
Tomorrow's the mammo.....will check in with the results. Today I got "new hair"......copper w/ blonde hi-lites My favorite. YAY!
HarleyMom--my son was a white water rafting guide one summer!!
