  • Hey HarleyMom...

I hear ya on the wedding stuff. My brother was supposed to get married March of 07, well they changed the date. They bought a house and now have moved the date to September...as in THIS September! I'm supposed to be a bridesmaid and I'm nowhere near strapless dress ready. Ugghh! I could have strangled him...LOL! No, seriously, I am happy for him. I just need to buck down, 'cuz I only have 4 months...
  • Hubby and I are on vacation next week--YEAH!!!! Got some honey do projects for us both and then a couple of local rides planned.

After a very stressful week before daughter's divorce hearing and the weekend after when I wasn't sure if she would hold it all together I am back on track with the exercise and counting calories--trying to average around 1500 a day--some days I just don't feel like eating that much and others it's like--I can't believe it's lunchtime and I have almost all my calories for the day in!!

My son works as an electrician with the company that my daughter's ex worked at and there are some guys on the jobsite (I forget what they do) that are in a band--my son's friends keep saying how cute my daughters is and how they love her and one of the band guys wants to meet her--son and his girlfriend are taking her along to one of their concerts. I told her to date--not to get serious and have fun--the ex was her first boyfriend and first love she has never really dated anyone but him.
  • Reb You will be a buetiful brides maid. Don't stress as your DB will love you and wants you in his wedding. 4 months, wow that is fast. My DS and DF were talking about 2008 at first but they can't wait 2 years. I think it is common to change the date once the decision is made to get married to get it done faster. My sons DF is going to graduate from colleage in 2008 spring so they decided that would be a bit much trying to plan a wedding and graduation all in the same month. I am happy she is including me in her plans and wants my opion, well maybe, I'll try no to be an awful MIL.

Jules the best thing you can do for you DD is make her confident and strong in who she is. Poor dear she is so young to have gone through this whole thing. What doesnt kill us makes us stronger! Good luck with her and I hope she moves forward with a changed heart.

Kathy, Jill, Gina, Greta, 2frus, star, Reb, Jules and anyone else I may have forgotten have a wonderful weekend all you hot biker babes. Keep on Keep'n on!
  • Hey where the heck is everyone??? out riding I suppose. I got to ride into work today. Gotta love it!
  • New here
Hello, My name is Angie. I am so glad I found this site. I am both a rider and am on a long journey to weightloss. I am 31 years young. I love to ride. My husband has a 2004 Yamaha Roadstar and I have a 2004 Honda Shadow 750 Aero. I took the course and got licensed in April 2005. I got my own bike in Jan. 2006. I have put 3000 miles on it already. I love it. It is so much fun and relaxing. I have 3 children, 12 (Son), 10 (Daughter), and 3 (Son). I live in Miami. Hope to meet some fellow lady riders.

Now about my weight goals. I am 5'4" and weigh 245 lbs. I have started the cookie diet and hope to lose 60 lbs. by November. Wish me luck!!
  • Cookie diet? Do tell....

    Angie!!

I'm home sick today....annoying cold. It's practically summer....isn't cold season s'posed to be over? [/whine]

I found out last week that somewhere along the line the M class part of my driver's license didn't get renewed...that's what i get for laughing at Arnold Schwartznegger for no being licensed when he had his accident with the sidecar. Anyhoo - I managed to pass the written tests...(I was a little worried because they gave me the car test too...I hadn't read the manual in years) I dug up an old license that has an M on it - they said I could skip the actual driving test if I could show I passed it before. Lordy you should see the picture on that license.... Don't know how I ever thought I was 5 7....I'm actually 5 4. But my current license says 5 7, 200 pounds....so I shrunk both ways. This might be the first time ever I didn't feel the need to lie on the form.

    Going back to bed...Happy Monday
  • Welcome Angis, I am with Gina, cookie diet?????

Sorry your feeling under the weather Gina. What a dang thing to happen with your M endorsement. My DH tells me always double check to make sure those knuckle heads at the dmv put your M endorsement on when you renew. As of course they do charge us extra for that. What is really scary is our insurance won't cover an accident if the endorsement is not current. Glad you got that one squared away. It is so funny how we lie, lie, lie on those weight, height questions. It is the first time in years my actual weight on my DL is lower than what I said it was.

Hope all your hot biker chicks our having great weeks! Keep on Keep'n on Chicks.
  • Hi Biker Chicks! Hello to all of you!

Gosh....here I was thinking "boy...things sure are quiet with my Biker Chicks", because I hadn't gotten any email notifications of posts on here. I decided to check to be sure....and sure enuf....you're all just chatting away without me!! BTW....I changed my user options to Instant Notification (AGAIN)...so hopefully I'll be here more.

Angie....we NEED TO KNOW about The Cookie Diet. Sounds like something I can do. LOL Glad you're here with us! I'm not in Miami...but I am in Florida...just about 40 miles northeast of Orlando.

Hi Greta! It's coool to have someone here from PR!

Hi Kathy! You're working waaaay toooo hard, Girl!

Hi Gina! I hope I can tell the truth on my next driver's license renewal next April. HA!

I'm sure happy you're all out there riding again. We have been on some great rides since my last post....and will be going again tomorrow, over to New Smyrna Beach and a place called Chases, where they have a pool right on the beach and a great restaurant too!

Harley...you are da bomb when it comes to weight loss! WOW! I MUST get some of your will power dust. I just can't quite get back on the wagon. Maybe Reb and I can get sprinkled and get back on track to meeting our October goals. Wha'cha think, Reb??

Hey 2Frus...did you get new tires or are you getting a new bike???

Jules....so glad to hear that you and your daughter are making a good recovery from that romance bump in the road. At least you're on vacation this week. Yep.....I thought my kids would be on their own after they "grew up". The Fact of Life is....at 31 and 24 they still expect us to solve all their problems!! I should have eaten they when they were young and tender. LOLOLOL
  • Hey Ladies!

    Welcome Angie!!

Jules- I hope that your daughter takes dating slow and just has a good time. It's kinda fun to date...well, I meant WAS fun. I quit dating when I got married...hehe. Enjoy your vacation!

Harley-Sounds like your soon-to-be DIL is a pretty nice girl to include you in plans. My soon-to-be SIL doesn't seem to care for my mom at all...it's really too bad.

Jill- I KNOW that we can be meet our goals, I just need to buckle down! Sounds like your rides are pretty terrific. I hate to admit it, but I haven't gone riding with Dh too much.

Gina-Hope you're feeling better! Good thing your got everything straightened with your license, too!

I think that I'm starting to get my diet mojo back. LOL. I started my summer job (maintainance) and I've been getting up at 5am to get a tiny workout in...Tae Bo 8 minute workout, then at our a.m. break a group of us walk for 30minutes, then when I come home I'm trying to do either a toning or abs workout. I'm exhausted! My work hours are 6am to 3:30pm and its a lot more physical than my normal para job. I really hope to drop some weight this summer. I'm trying to be good on my diet and for the most part I'm doing ok. I talked to the nutritionist on Friday. She set some goals for me.

    1). Eat between 1200 - 1600 calories a day
    2) Exercise 30 mins 3 x a day gradually increase to 60
3). Limit alcohol beverages to 1-2 servings 1x a week
4). Remember that no food is off limits. Be more selective with "bad" food choices. Be aware of higher calorie foods and moderate them.
    5) Include a fruit and/or veggie at every meal.

I'm supposed to meet with her again in a month and see how my goals are going. She said even if I have trouble with some of them that's ok and we'll talk about it.

Well, chickies...I'm pooped and a nice long shower is calling my name...
  • I'm all better today - almost no more annoying sneezing. It was back to the gym for me - I only did 45 minutes instead of an hour...I'll get my hour in tomorrow.

Andrea - those are good goals!! Sounds like you are on your way. I swear by calorie counting - it works for me.

Jill - Is it possible the emails are getting filtered by a spam blocker?

I'm off to bed early tonight....
  • Hi there everyone!!! Is this an area just for street riders? My husband has a harley that we take on an occasional ride to dinner, out, sometimes with friends...on the street i only passenger...BUT...on dirt-i am a rider, as are my husband and both kids. i guess I am a motorcycle rider period. i also battle my weight as always and am trying to go at it again....
  • Hi drtrdrmom! Welcome!

Lots of passengers here.....(I'm one).....scroll back and you'll find that most of us are pictured on here with our bikes and of 2Frus in her up-coming wedding gown! (I'm just sitting on a Harley at Daytona Bike week in my avatar pic )

We're all about riding and battling the bulge....so jump right in and join us! I have fallen off the wagon, but have a plan for getting back on as soon as our great riding friends head back to New York for the summer....they are terrible (but FUN) influences. LOL We're all riding to New Smyrna Beach this morning...so gotta run!

Reb...I'm WITH YOU when it comes to buckling down and meeting our October goals. Let's kick each other's butts to seriously get going.

Make it a great day everyone!
  • Hey all you hot biker chicks. Welcome drmom! Happy to have you!

Down another 1.6 lbs this week. Yipee! I am working my butt off. I hope you all get on the band wagon with me!

Have a great day and Keep on Keep'n on Biker Chicks!
  • No time to post - but this joke was too hilarious to save til later
    A Horse, A Chicken, And A Harley
On the farm lived a chicken and a horse, both of whom loved to play together.
One day the two were playing, when the horse fell into a bog and began to sink.
Scared for his life, the horse whinnied for the chicken to go get the farmer for help!
Off the chicken ran, back to the farm. Arriving at the farm, he searched and searched for the farmer, but to no avail, for he had gone to town with the only tractor.
Running around, the chicken spied the farmer's new Harley.
Finding the keys in the ignition, the chicken sped off with a length of rope hoping he still had time to save his friend's life.
Back at the bog, the horse was surprised, but happy, to see the chicken arrive on the shiny Harley, and he managed to get a hold of the loop of rope the chicken tossed to him.
After tying the other end to the rear bumper of the farmer's bike, the chicken then drove slowly forward and, with the aid of the powerful bike, rescued the horse!
Happy and proud, the chicken rode the Harley back to the farmhouse, and the farmer was none the wiser when he returned.
The friendship between the two animals was cemented: Best Buddies, Best Pals.
A few weeks later, the chicken fell into a mud pit, and soon, he too, began to sink and cried out to the horse to save his life!
The horse thought a moment, walked over, and straddled the large puddle.
Looking underneath, he told the chicken to grab his hangy-down thing and he would then lift him out of the pit.
The chicken got a good grip, and the horse pulled him up and out, saving his life.
The moral of the story? (yep, you betcha, there IS a moral!)
