Annie
I'm sure that my sinus problem is due to allergies. I noticed the golden rod and rag weed both are in bloom this past week end and with the farmers defoliating their crops is another thing for me to take into consideration. Every thing cost now a day's and it's mainly for the labor. Glad it was in reasonable price range.

Mel
I'm with you on the back to normal routine. I'm set at work with doing things in manual. The motor still hasn't arrived. I almost let the filter go dry this morning while I was down stairs monitoring the chemical rooms. I heard it gurgle and ran to push some buttons. At least we are not physically doing this. Yeah for the checks beiing in the bank. I like to pay my bills on line.

Michelle
Hope I didn't send you my stomach problem via the internet. Maybe what I had was due to direct contact with some one else. Feel better soon.

Happy
Glad you got a good night's rest. I know I did but sure didn't want to get up this morning. I like fall weather for sleeping.

Laura,

Not much going on today and I hope it stays this way. I'm happy and content. And curious where my other boss is. Haven't seen him all day.

Annie - Glad the garage door is fixed. Bummer about the expensive labor charges though. Sheesh! $99 for 15 minutes? I'd like to make $400/hour, but I think the only way to make that much per hour is to take your clothes off!

Ceejay - You said your tummy troubles might be the result of "direct contact" with someone....was the someone cute and was the contact fun?

Hi everyone. The meeting this morning was good. I left after the presentation and didn't hang around to network - hate that stuff. But I do want to ask for the powerpoint presentation so I can share it. It ended early, so I got home before 11. I got the laptop fired up, looked at e-mail and made a call.

Bf had an event to attend downtown and was going to take metra, but wouldn't you know it, the train he was taking had mechanical problems. So who knows when it or the next train will come. We drove to the CTA blue line and I dropped him off. Now I'm back home and I think I've lost my VPN connection to work. But I'll post this before I try and get back on.

Shad - Hope Mick has another assignment for you that's more to your liking! Interesting the co. closed the project but still would have had you sitting around looking at the river...

Ceejay - Yeh, I've been seeing a lot of blooming goldenrod lately, especially when I was on the bike trail the other day. I'll have to look up what it means to defoliate crops. Closest I know of is exfoliating, lol.

Michelle - Glad Doppler's on his way. Congrats on the 10,000 steps. I definitely need to wear my pedometer more often - it seems like I do a fair amount of walking, but I might just need a reality check! It's nice working a home - I'm set up at the table in the 3-season room. I have a view of the yard, and my pretty blooming geranium that's on the patio table. Doggy is loving being outside. He was stalking a squirrel earlier, lol.

Happy - I hope your new neighbors are nice & normal and the puppy will be well-trained and non-barky. Good sign that they're getting the roof taken care of right off the bat. Re the trail - I actually did go to the southern portion in Elk Grove Village - I parked by the Elk Grove (fenced in area of the forest preserve where there are actually elk) and did see some elk. It's less congested over there than the Schaumburg portion, but there were still people all over the trail - beautiful Sunday, no surprise.

Mel - Glad the finances are getting straightened out and no late payments made or fees incurred. Now you can get back to normal, focusing on yourself and being healthy. It's been cool and fall-like here, but I'm hoping for a bit of Indian Summer.

[Jeez, can all the dogs around here just stop barking already?!?! The mailman is coming around, so I know why Coal is barking...]

Annie - Glad the garage door opener repair wasn't ridiculously expensive. Sorry the guy wasn't good eye candy...no fair. For that labor rate, he should at least be easy on the eyes, no?? I was thinking it would be nice to be on the bike path during the week when no one else is on there, but then again that might not be very safe. Okay, I'll settle for sharing it w/ other cyclists, but can all the walkers, joggers, skaters, and clueless wanderers just stay away???

Nothing much else to say. Tonight's movie is "Going the Distance" w/ Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Got a decent review from a local critic who's otherwise been blasting all the other romantic comedies, so I hope it's entertaining.

Time to post. Have a good Tuesday/Wednesday ladies!

Okay, the problems caused by the vpn made this work at home day mostly unproductive. How could I forget always having to reconnect? Oh well. Start again tomorrow - in the office.

Anybody read those Janet Evanovich Stephani Plum books? I was digging through the mail and found the latest newsletter - they cast the movie. Filming, but not in Jersey, where the books are set. Hunh. See this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1598828/

Good morning chicks,

Had to get up extra early to drop the car off for servicing. Got up, fed 2 cats, opened extra cat food for my own fussy cat since she didn't like meal #1 and is approaching a bag 'o bones. Made coffee. Got the trash together for DH to take to the curb and before I know it, my 45 minutes was gone and I have 10 minutes to gulp my coffee and get in the shower. So no posts this morning.

Laura - I am curious as to how that movie was. It's one of the few I'd like to see but from the still shots it looks like Justin and Drew did not have very good chemistry together. It was also supposed to be rather raunchy from the reviews I read. I think they need to stop making movies only geared at people under 25 At least in the romantic comedy genre.

Gotta run - have a good one all

Good Morning Chicklets....Hump day, trash day, no workie at CVS day...yeah!!! Altho have to work all stinkin weekend.

Well between last night and this morning on the way to work I have managed to eat an entire bag-16 oz/1 lb, of roasted/salted pistachios in the shell, minus the shell, of course. That would be great protein, 48 grams. but also 1360 calories, 64 grams carbs....etc etc. Can you say MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I should not eat for at least two days, but you know I will. I am thinking I shouldn't buy any more of those, can't control myself. YIKES!

Laura....was the movie any good. I do like Drew Barrymore, I think she has come a long way and in a good place in her life. I do read Janet and will check out the website later, if this place will allow me. Some of the sites that are blocked here are redick.

Chelle...yeah for the price to fix the garage door you would think they could send something nice to look at, especially when he was up on the ladder. Um no, not me, didn't go there. Glad Dopp is doing so well. Some kids are great patients, evidently Dopp is.

Happy...yes, when we are doing something we like to do the time just flies right past us. Let us be at work and an hour can seem like a week. Hope your day goes fabby...

Hellos to all...

Love and hugs

Happy Wednesday!

Doppler's follow up appointment yesterday went really well. His eye pressure is back down to normal. Keeping in mind that he is not supposed to bark excessively, jump or get overly excited while his eye is healing, we nearly broke all those rules when we arrived at the vet. Just as I parked the car, both he and I saw someone taking their dog inside the office. He got very excited and started barking, but was good about quieting down when I told him to. I left him in the car and I went to check in with the front desk. There were 3 dogs waiting in the waiting room for their appointments. I told the receptionist that I'll need to keep Doppler in the car because if I brought him inside, there would be no way I could keep him calm and stop him from barking/jumping with so many other dogs there. So I went back to the car and we waited until it was our turn. Even then, Doppler would see dogs and their owners leave and get excited...but not nearly as bad as if he were in the lobby with all those dogs.

Doppler has also learned how to manipulate the vet. When the vet wants to check his eye, Doppler squints so the vet can't examine it. It's not until the vet gives me a dog biscuit to hold that Doppler cooperates! What a stinker! Just like his momma, I guess. I'm definitely more cooperative when treats are involved!

I got my 10K steps in yesterday. In fact, I walked to and from PT. Mind you, it's only 1/2 mile each way to our company Wellness Center where the PT is located, but a month ago...that short walk would've been impossible. My back was a bit sore when I arrived, and I was worried how I'd do walking back after traction...but I used my TENS device which helped the pain. The PT said that I should try using it and walk daily at lunch so I can get a bit more exercise. But he cautioned that I should NOT try and walk all 10K steps during lunch break.

Today is the first day in nearly a week that there are no doctor/visits after work. So I'm hoping to mow the lawn if it doesn't rain/isn't too wet. I'll use our riding lawn mower, so I should be okay.

Laura - Hope you enjoyed the movie. I also like Drew Barrymore. One of my fave movies of hers is "Major League". Of course that could be because growing up in New England one of my fave baseball teams is the Red Sox. Bummer that your work from home day wasn't too productive. I hope that doesn't lead to an overwhelming amount of playing catch up the rest of the week.

Happy - Isn't it funny how time can get away from us in the morning. I've got a set routine in the morning, and heaven help me if it gets altered in any way. I've finally managed to adjust my wake-up time and morning routine so I can get all of Doppler's medications administered (in addition to his insulin shot, he gets 5 eye drops - 10 minutes apart, 2 pills (taken with a dab of peanut butter of course so they go down), and a liquid oral medication. So are you leaving this Saturday for vacation?

Annie - Any plans for your free evening? Bummer that you have to work all weekend...but if it makes you feel better...I won't be having tons of fun this evening. Mostly I'll be laying in bed on an ice bag or using my TENS device, trying to keep Doppler from jumping off the bed. Dopper is a great patient when it comes to taking meds...but he REALLY, REALLY wants to jump on and off the furniture and run around.

to Shad, Ceejay and Mel!

Love and hugs to all,

Chelle....So glad Doppler is doing so well. He is probably more excited about other dogs at the vet cause he can actually SEE them. Bless his heart. Going to my daughter's shop for color and cut tonight. I tell you my hair grows so dang fast. I guess it is from being on the biotin. I need color after just 3 weeks and make myself wait till the 4th week. In 3 weeks time is grows about 1/4" or maybe a little more than that.

Meeting a former Humana associate at TGIFridays for lunch today. They have a lunch soup and salad that I just love.

Tis all for now. Only 186 days till SPRING!!!

I would love to be on the trail with you. I love the wild life. I get all excited when I see the wild turkey in my uncles back yard at times. Defoliation is from a chemical that burns the leaves making it easier for the combines to do their job. It's mainly for the cotton and beans. It stinks.

Mel
Work, all I can say is ugh. I do at times get good work out's during the day. The boss doesn't know it yet but I've cut out part of going down stairs. It's non sense. Good luck at getting the levy tax lifted.

Michelle
Good idea to keep Dopplar in the car. No good looking male person to be around for me to get the tummy problem. Some times it's in the air. That's what I meant.

Hi to Shad, Happy, and Annie. Hope you day goes well.

I only have two day's off this week end. I'm working for my co-worker on Saturday. If you count my going to a district water meeting tomorrow only one day off. I may call my neighbor to see if she wants to go. I'm going to try and get the oil changed in the Rav4. I may look at cars also. I'm getting the new car "fever" again.

Good Morning all.

Mel - Good the work is available for you to earn the cash you need. Hope Jen's big check comes in. Enjoy the senior bbq - hope you don't have to listen to too many complaints. I had to adjust that from "any complaints" because there's ALWAYS complaints, right??!!

Michelle - Wow, that's quite a regimen with Doppler's meds. But it's so great he can see better. Hope you can keep him calm enough to get that eye completely mended. Another good 10k step day!! Of course I forgot my pedometer again. And I did think of bringing it - I just lost that thought before it made it into my purse. Anyhoo - take it easy and listen to the PT people!

Annie - I had a "too many nuts" episode the other day too. Aargh. Where the heck was portion control??!! Enjoy your TGIF lunch on Wednesday!!

Happy - I actually enjoyed the movie last night, Closing the Distance. I don't find Justin Long attractive and not a great actor, but he was good enough. I actually thought I heard that he and Drew B were rather close in real life. It was raunchy - a lot of profanity - but in general the movie was entertaining and better than some of the more recent lame romantic comedies. Heck, maybe I'm changing my opinion about that kind of stuff. When I think of some of the stuff in "Something About Mary" and "Knocked Up", this movie seemed much more tame and less distasteful, and they didn't spend too much time trying to milk as much as they could out of whatever comedy gag there is in a guy getting his you-know-what caught in his zipper. I hate when they don't know when to just move on.

Hellos to Shad and Ceejay!!

Okay, it's lunch time and I want to get out for some fresh air. I didn't bring any workout gear - my thought is to do Tues/Thurs workouts in the FC and one on the weekend for the time being. So tomorrow for sure. Nothing planned tonight, but we definitely need to do some grocery shopping.

TTFN!

Ceejay, you snuck in on me! I do like to see more wildlife than just squirrels - but no snakes, insects or possum!! We have a tandem bike, so come on up and we can hit the trail, LOL. Well, I don't have a car rack for the tandem, so I guess we'd have to pedal around the neighborhood. Not much wildlife in our little burb.

Thanks for the defoliation explanation.

Well, at least you get extra pay filling in for a co-worker - that's always good, especially if you've got new car fever.

I only have 15 minutes left of my lunchtime (I wish people would stop coming to talk to me) so I'll try to post as much as I can. Thank goodness they have not blocked 3FC here at work but I'm waiting for that to happen soon. It's a DIET site for cryin' out loud! Although I must admit the name sounds porno.

Laura - waiting to hear your review of the movie.

Michelle - I'm so glad that Doppler is doing well. Had a big giggle over trying to keep a puppy calm. I agree with the others that he must be sooooo happy to see. Especially if the eye pain from surgery has diminished. Maybe THAT's what he's so happy about Yay for you for walking the 10,000 steps. That's ALOT of walking. And to make it there and back to therapy. Shows great improvement. Hope it sticks. DH is going now for problems with his neck and he showed me an exercise yesterday that I think will even help me so I hope you get some goodness out of it.

got called away - back later. Sorry.
