Good morning all. Happy Friday/Saturday.

Shad - What a relief to hear the family is okay.

Annie - Yup, a beautiful day here. Lucky you to have your hands on those two hotties. Never been tubing - looks like big fun!! Enjoy the Joel Osteen event tonight. The training is over - just a 1-day seminar. Getting Things Done. As usual, I walked away with an overload of ideas, the implementation of which seems overwhelming. But very worthwhile, so I'll definitely be implementing some.

Ceejay - Enjoy that 4-day weekend!! Have a good safe trip to see the uncles.

Mel - Aaargh. What's wrong with those office people getting you your check so late?! Hope you have a quiet weekend.

Hellos to Happy & Michelle, probably sneaking in at this very moment.

Not much to report. Last night I walked doggy and did one BE workout and a short stretch workout on a Tamilee dvd I have from the library. Woke up around 5 am this morning with a headache, but I took some ibuprofen and it's gone. Glad TOM week is almost over - all that goes with it was a real hassle. Wed. night I got up probably 4 times to use the bathroom - body letting go of all the water being retained. At least the scale was nice to me the following morning. .

Today is a half day for me, then the eye doc and foot doc this afternoon. Nothing going this weekend - yay.

Gotta run and GET THINGS DONE.

I know we had one power blink last night before I went to bed but not sure about another one. I heard the fans come on again. I don't think it stormed but could have. The big thunder storm cell that was in the Paragould, Jonesboro area fizzled out to nearly nothing but I think it must of had some punch left in it. We had some good rain. We were under a tornado watch until 11 p.m. last night. It's a beautiful day.

Shad
They are still having after shocks. Wow that would be hard to deal with I'm sure.

Laura
Are you still in meetings today? You have been doing well in the exercise department.

Mel
I'm sorry that you are having to fight this money thing again.

Annie
I watch Joel Osteen when i have to work on Sunday's. Glad you are getting to go see him in person.

Michelle
how is Doppler this morning?

Happy
How's your new hair do?

Ceejay...this will be the second time seeing Joel. I went to see him about 4-5 years ago when he was in Indy. He is such an awesome speaker and so motivationally touching.

Laura...yup, two hotties, however they are a couple and married. ;^( Isn't that the way it always is?

Hi ladies -

Happy Friday! TGIF!! Doppler's surgery went PERFECTLY according to the vet. He couldn't be more pleased. John took him for a follow up visit today and the vet said he is healing normally and all things look good. I didn't sleep well last night...too worried about Doppler. He was a little uncomfortable when we first brought him home yesterday...but he finally got comfy and slept well - better than me, I think.

I just had Doppler outside on the leash. I know he would rather not have the cone (Elizabethan collar) and not be on a leash...but he walked all over the yard checking things out and enjoying fresh air. He even did some happy strutting/prancing and lots of tail wagging of course.

Ceejay - So nice of you to work for your co-worker next weekend. Glad your sister wasn't affected by the floods, and that you got good rain and no tornadoes. I think our tornado season will be over soon...unless it warms up for an Indian Summer.

Happy - I hate it when I lose posts....so I usually create the post in Notepad and paste it in when I'm done. Doppler had a cataract in one eye. He has been blind in his other eye since he was about 1 or 2 years old due to an accident while he was at doggie day care that caused his retina to detach. Since he only had one good eye left...and his vision was getting worse and worse due to the cataract, we decided that we had to get it taken care of so he could really enjoy life again.

Laura - Glad to hear your training class was enjoyable and productive. That's often not the case. Good luck at the eye and foot docs. I hope all goes well.

Shad - I'm REALLY, REALLY happy and relieved as I'm sure you are that all the family members are okay. Aftershocks after a big quake are enough to make anyone tense. I hope things quiet down for them soon. Hopefully the new script will do the trick for you and your blood test comes out okay. As for my back, I'm really not doing much. When I have to lift, I lift properly. And I'm doing my PT exercises. It's not even that bad yet today. Maybe a 3 on the pain scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being unbearable (which is where I was just a week or two ago). It occasionally goes back up to 7 or 8...but the pain isn't as bad or nearly as frequent/constant as it was.

Mel - It sucks that your work checks didn't clear and you had to miss out on Trader Joe's. I hope all the financial gets squared away and SOON!

Annie - Have a great time at Joel Osteen! What a great way to start the weekend, with all the positivity! Sorry to hear about your garage door. That was me a few weeks ago. Hopefully no trees or cataracts come your way. Good for James and Tyler to get married!! At the risk of getting political here...I don't have a problem with gay couples marrying. It doesn't lessen the sanctity of my marriage any. I'm thrilled when two people who are in love commit to each other.

Anyway, I should be working, so I'd better get back to it.

Lots of love and hugs,

Chelle...great news about Doppler...once his eye heals, he will be looking at everything thinking that is not how he remembers it looking before...lol How old is Doppler again?

Annie - Even right now that his vision is better than it was...though not as good as it will be once the healing is done....Doppler is looking around and seems to occasionally get overwhelmed by suddenly being able to see things better/clearer. Doppler is 10, which for a Miniature Schnauzer is just past middle age. The Mini Schnauzer we had before Doppler (whose name was Radar - Doppler was named in honor of Radar) lived until almost 18 and acted like a puppy up until the last couple months of his life.

It's late and I am on my way to bed after roaring 'encouragement' at the All Blacks playing Australia. I had to read the riot act a couple of times and the ref came in for some flack as well, but they came through in the end. My mantra here is that "I support 2 teams, New Zealand and anyone playing against Australia". It doesn't win me any kudos around here I can tell you.

Went off to the gym this morning and put myself through the torture for near enough an hour. I'll be back tomorrow to do it all over again. I figure if I keep going, I may get to like it again.

Mel - I'm glad that I persuaded you to keep the cash on hand. In these days of hard line banks and creditors getting stroppy, it pays to have a back up.

Annie - a friend of mine in Christchurch who has a strange sense of humour and who is drinking her way through the earth tremors said and I quote:

"I'm making a mango martini in honour of the kiwi in Aus. I put the ripe mango on the bench, an earthquake came and two pots fell on top of it - mashed it to puree. Scooped up the pulp, put it in with the vodka - gin bottle broke on Saturday - and plonked it all in the remaining martini glass - another earth tremor and I guess you could say it's been shaken and not stirred. No bloody olives - guess they are in the cupboard we can't open, and no ice on account of the power being out again. Best I don't have too many of these since the only working loo is out on the street 2 houses away. I think it's two houses, looks like two houses..........maybe only one. I've had the odd one or two."
I thought of you Annie when that one came through.

Michelle - so happy to hear that the dog is seeing better already. Give him a hug from me.

Laura - don't you just love it when the scale is kind. Mind you all that garbage we have to go through just because of the time of the month - something has to be nice to us as a reward for not killing anyone.

Ceejay - stay safe in all those thunder storms and tornado watches.

Happy - new hair do huh? Hope you are ready for the weekend.

Better go and put myself into bed. Otherwise I will be useless - or more so than today.

See ya tomorrow

Just a brief one since I'm getting ready to drive to paragould. Rain is in the forecast for today but tomorrow will be better.
Watched a little of the cancer thing on tv. not sure if it was a telethon or not but something similar. Neil Diamond was there and sang so was Chris Christopherson. Both have aged well but their vocies have not.

My bil likes Neil Diamond and afterwards called my sister and talked to her for a bit. Told her of my plans to come for a visit. She's not going to get to graduate in December as she had planned due to completing her thesis. She's okay with it since this will be an easy semester.

had a bit of a stomach upset yesterday afternoon. Don't really know if it was a stomach virus or nerves. I pick the later since it didn't last long and because of the bad week at work. Good thing I hadn't eaten that much yesterday. Stomach is still a little sore. I really don't need to eat much lunch.

Shad
Good for you in getting to the gym.

Mel
You deserve a quiet weekend and thanks for the belated birthday wish.

Every one else have a good week end.

Howdie Ladies......

Joel was so awesome last night. Sure did boost my positive energy!!! CVS was busier than heck today. It just flew by. Here I am posting for a change on a Saturday. Going to a party tonight. Good friend, Tami, her x-hubby is having it at his house. They have remained good friends and I was friends with them, so we are going to his party. Will be kind of strange at first but I am sure to adapt.

Fixed stuffed jalapeno peppers for dinner tonight. I had so many of them outof the garden. Also made pica de gallo. Mouth is on fire. It will cool off in no time.

Hey Shad...got your IM and you headed out before I could answer you back. Don't exercise too hard at the gym. Have an excellent day!!

Chelle...Doppler still doing good? Hella B is 10 yrs old also and acts like a brat all the time. lol

Ceejay....are you feeling better now. My tummy bothers me most every day at some point.

MELLIE...could you save 800 bucks in your closet for me too? That would be awesome. I will pray even harder for Richie for that perfect job.

Hey to Happy and Laura, doing the wave at cha.

GO COLTS!!!!

Love and hugs

Morning kids,

Sorry I didn't get here yesterday. We were going to work in the yard but we got a light rain. Instead I spent just about all day at the computer, making up my list for vacation - things to do before the trip, what to pack, etc - this will help me from being so frantic the day before we leave. I rarely get any sleep the night before as I am pulling everything together so we can head out early. The trip up to my cousin's is 14 hours which is too much for either of us - even if I did help with the driving. :O So we are driving halfway, stopping at Mom's and then heading up and the same with coming back. The place we originally rented, the owner decided even tho there were bookings all the way to October - she decided to close the cabin 2 weeks ago, leaving us high and dry. The agent suggested some other places but nothing was quite to our liking - especially DH who was pretty upset that she could just dismiss our guaranteed reservation - particularly when we'd have to forfeit our $200 deposit if WE cancelled out less than 6 weeks prior to our reservation. I looked at some other places at lunch on Friday and found one that DH liked. No internet and outside fire ring but otherwise it's nice and not too far from my cousin. The thing is that it's rented for the weekend vacating Monday morning so we will leave a day later than originally planned and give up a day up there. That's ok, means I won't have to rush home Friday, try and get everything together and take off all frantic. We will leave Saturday and spend the weekend at my Mom's, heading north on Monday. Will again leave on Sunday and this time have a quick overnight at my Mom's leaving Monday again. Getting in and out of the city on Monday will be a REAL PAIN with the traffic so we will probably be heading out both times at about 4am. Still I think we will have fun. I did look up some things to do while up there - my cousin said the maple trees are turning and we should hit some nice color - the weather is cooperating too. One day we will look at homes, another we will do a fall color drive, might go to the casino one day, catch their fall fair on the weekend and hopefully catch up with my other cousins who said they will make the drive north too to see us again. So something to do each day but not too rushed and leaves time to relax and read and enjoy the stars at night. The house sits on a lake and there is a nice open view off the pier which should give us a good view of the tree colors, eagles flying and stars at night. Just have to watch out for bears, deer and other smaller critters. We are looking forward to it but always so much work before a vacation!

Mel - I have an extra iron if you want it. New in the box too Hate ironing although like you said, you sometimes need it for curtains and such. I'm glad to hear some of the money is coming back to you. hope you get it all back. With the ridiculously low interest the banks give, I'd probably keep my shopping cash at home and just keep what you need to pay bills in the bank. Why does it have to be so complicated? go after the real problem people

Annie - glad you enjoyed Joel. We all need a steady stream of upbeat. Did you enjoy yourself at the party? Maybe your tummy hurts because of all that hot hot hot stuff you like so much I know it's supposed to be good for you but I'll pick the other milder good for you stuff

Ceejay - I haven't see Kris in a long time but last time I heard Neil sing on TV - I think he might have been an advisor on American Idol or something - I thought - he's kind of losing his voice for some of his songs. Kind of sad. Feeling better today?

Shad - you sure do like the footy, don't you? I know the feeling of isolation you experience - kinda like being amongst all these Green Bay Wisconsin Packer fans I loved, loved LOVED the martini story. I guess you have to find some humor in it all otherwise you'd go nuts. That Annie is a witty one!

Michelle - hope you had a nice birthday weekend and that Doppler is doing well and seeing the world with new eyes.

Laura - you out there enjoying September? It flies by fast. Enjoy the sun before the rain moves in. Has anything started to turn yet? I miss the brilliant golds in the forest preserves. I used to work in Northbrook and passed through the forest preserves - loved watching the trees turn - sure made up for the sitting in the traffic that came later in the season.

Well I have lots to do and it ain't getting done sitting here - that's for sure. Have a good Sunday all.
