Suffering Succatosh the Worldies are Slimming in September

It's already September in Shad's part of the world so I'm posting up the new month's thread.

Let's spend this month remembering how we got to this point in the first place and getting back to basics (or whatever it takes) to get us back on track again. Someone can be the bullet train and pull us along and others can catch anyone who MIGHT be thinking about falling off the wagon.

I love September myself. Weather is great, bugs are down and it's time (for most of us) to enjoy the last vestiges of summer. Shad on the other hand is getting ready for springtime - also a good time.

Here's to a great month  (water toast of course) :D

happy2bme 08-31-2010 06:01 PM

Ack! I just noticed that someone (who shall remain nameless ;) ) does not know how to spell succotash

Wish I'd proofed before posting. :write:

Shad 08-31-2010 06:22 PM

Of course I will do your doco for you Michelle. After all, I'm sure you will appreciate it more than the lot I for whom I am working.
Sorry to hear the back is playing up again. I always find when sciatica rears its ugly head in my back, I have to sit straight instead of the slumping over the desk and computer that is normal for me. I also notice that if I carry my computer bag - complete with computer over the shoulder then the back seems to lock up to the left in compensation. So balance the loads or wear a back pack. It's habit that I carry the strap on the left shoulder.

Laura - the years come and so do the pounds. The years go and the pounds stay. *sigh*. It's a cruel world out there. Some seem to have it so easy.
Enjoy your long weekend.

Annie - you too. Enjoy your weekend away from all offices of work. And have a wee dram for me - or a big one for that matter. Say hi to the ladies. One day, one day, we may all be having a drink at Champps

Happy - Our monarchs live on swan plant. Now I don't know if that is the same thing as you have. They are called swan plants because they bear seed pods in a fat elongated oval with a pointy bit at the end and hang from a long sometimes curved stalk. And as Laura says if you don't do something about them, they spread. Still there are worse things than monarch butterflies around the joint. Nothing seems to eat my parsley - including the DS2!

Ceejay - your BP will rise with exercise. Exercise lifts the heartrate and sends the blood pumping through the body. Lowering BP is not the result of a single bout of kickboxing at the gym or a walk along the pier. It is the result on continual, constant, invigorating exercise done over a period of time. It will not happen overnight but it will happen. Thank you Rachel Hunter for incorporating that saying into everyday life

I miss Mel. Hey - if you are reading this, it is time to talk again. NOW! Do not wallow in misery. How can I help if I can't get to you.

Work sucks - even more than usual. Things are changing on the project again and the person who signed my timesheets is moving on to other things. As yet there is no replacement. I also apparently have a new manager. His name is Andy. I have no idea who he is or where he hangs out. I am presuming it is the Andy who chaired a meeting I went to last week. So far, few people have contacted me regarding anything to be done during this last month of my extended contract. I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing, but hey, who am I. If they are happy, leaving me here in an office without any direction and without instruction and are happy to pay me $60ph for doing it, then who am I to whinge and whine. I know what I am - bored that's what. I have nearly done updating all the doco. It will never be great doco, but they are happy with it. I mean - yesterday I just finished a document which details how to find materials in the store. Well actually it doesn't, because every single one of the demonstrations and exercises presumes you know what the bloody catalogue number is! There is nowhere on how to search for the waukesha gasket with the gold teeth and 5/8 encrusting of diamonds. Well that is a bit of an exageration but you get the message. I always thought documentation was supposed to inform, not presume.
Listen buddy if I knew what it was and I knew the %$#^*^& number, why would I be &$*%&#$% looking for it???? I'd just tell the storeman to get me one of those!!!!!! Perhaps it is me! *sigh*

Gotta go. Staring out of the window to be done. Trying to figure out when and where the poltergeist will strike next to be done. Waiting for lunch/ home time to be done. Meantime, I will just drink the coffee and get on with the doco.

Okay before I blow something like a phoo phoo valve. I am off.

While I was blowing off steam, Happy was making us a new house. Thanks Happy. I've copied my post over to here.

Happy - when Ruth gets back from her meandering in Cape Breton, ask her to fix the spelling - if it matters by then.

Some people have all the luck. Wish I was meandering someplace other than here.

happy2bme 08-31-2010 06:34 PM

Thanks for reposting Shad. I am bound and determined to work the phrase "phoo phoo valve" into one of our upcoming threads.

I'm off to see what delicacies the DH has cooked up for his princess tonight :queen: :D

Good morning all,

Happy September to yahs. 8 months flown by already. Only a couple of weeks until vacation :yay:

Brain is dead this morning so I'll have to come back later when I wake up and post more.

Till then - happy hump day and trash day for some of us. Have a good one!

happy2bme 09-01-2010 08:33 AM

Oh and bummer on the job there Shad. But at least it's only a month - hope someone shows up to sign your time sheets and pay you! The contracts don't seem to be as interesting as they once were or is it just me thinking that way?

diyana 09-01-2010 08:47 AM

Happy Hump Day ladies -

And Happy "Thursday" for Annie and Happy "Friday" for Laura!! Happy September to all! I'm leaving work early today to take Doppler to the eye doctor.

I had a good PT session yesterday. We went over my exercises and I got some clarification on exercises that I wasn't sure of and alternates for exercises that I was having trouble doing due to lack of proper equipment at home. And she added some new exercises. I made a list of all the exercises since I seem to have "CRS" (Can't Remember S*it"). Then the PT put me in traction, which as we're fine tuning the specific way I lay down on the machine and how I get up off from the table, I managed to have NO PAIN. Yay! My back still felt a little twingey on the drive home, but not too bad. The PT and I also discussed that after I get my shot tomorrow afternoon, I should NOT do any PT exercises or any other exercise for that matter at least until Monday or Tuesday to give the steroid time to work it's way through the disc area to reduce the inflammation. I said we may go fishing this weekend, but it will be bobber fishing...no casting involved. She wants me to make sure my back is properly supported all weekend...and when it's not, I should wear the lightweight brace she gave me.

As for the tree debris, DH is going to rent a large scale wood chipper so that we can turn it all into mulch for the garden as we're going to be doing A LOT of landscaping in the spring. A larger wood chipper should make fairly quick (and hopefully painless) work of clearing the yard. We're going to wait until the weekend following Doppler's eye surgery since we'll need to stay around the house anyway.

I've got my doco nearly done. I've got a couple other things to take care of this morning, but I'll finish the doco before I leave for the day.

Oh, and before I forget...I followed Annie's bariatric plan yesterday, and it wasn't bad. Protein first, veggies second, lots of water, little or no starch, no sugar (but sweeteners are allowed - thank goodness). I might just be able to do this. We'll see how I feel after the first week.

Mellie - We really miss you. Please come back. :grouphug:

Shad - Thanks for the reminder about sitting up straight and the good advice about the computer bag. I have a habit of carrying the bag AND my lunch tote on my right shoulder, but that does throw me out of whack. So I don't take my computer home unless I'm working at home the next day. :) I hope Andy turns out to be a good manager and that you get some direction/instruction soon. Otherwise enjoy getting paid for being bored (although I hate being bored and unproductive too). Do you still have a great view?

Happy - Hope you had a yummy dinner!!! Thanks for setting up the new thread. Did I miss something? When and where is your next vacation?

Better get back to my projects.

Love and hugs,

annie175 09-01-2010 09:12 AM

Howdie...

Ok Happy....that is the "Hoosier" spelling...so back off. LOL...

Chelle....resting from exercise til the shot kicks in also mean NO YARD WORK.....and I mean it.. Don't make me come up there and wap you with the rolling pin.

MELLIE...I miss you sweetums...come back, come back where ever you are.

Shaddie...go figure on the job front...sorry it sucks so bad.

Hellos to all..
Love and hugs

annie175 09-01-2010 09:13 AM

Oh and Chelle...congrats for sticking to the plan. One day at a time...I KNOW you can do this....I have faith in you...

diyana 09-01-2010 10:16 AM

Annie - No worries, my dear friend....I will NOT be doing any yard work this weekend. If I'm out in the yard, I will be laying on my lounge chair. I even told DH that I can't bring up any loads of laundry from the basement, and I may not even do laundry or grocery shopping until Monday. No exercise/exertion for this chick. I'm gonna do everything I can to help this shot work.

Laura705 09-01-2010 10:59 AM

Good morning all.

Happy - Thanks for starting the new thread. I know it's the start of the meteorlogical autumn, but your avatar makes me sad. :( How was the burger yesterday?

Shad - Hmmm, someone wanted you around for another month, but no one's giving you work to do...bet the shareholders would love to hear about that. Oh well, as long as you're getting checks, LOL. Too funny about the stock doco without any lookup for stock numbers. Well maybe not a ha ha funny, but more of a head shaking kind of funny.

Michelle - Good luck w/ Doppler's appointment. Glad to hear the PT went well and that you're all set to take it easy this weekend.

Annie - Guess we need to get a copy of the Hoosier dictionary, LOL.

Mel - Hope all is well with you - come back soon!!

Ceejay - Any special plans for the holiday weekend - do you get Monday off work??

Not much to report. Bf took doggy for the walk yesterday. I did one BE workout, after I'd started a load of towels. Then I forgot to put the towels in the dryer and had to do it this morning so I had a towel for today's workout session.

One of the reasons I took tomorrow off work was because bf's niece (lives out of state) was supposed to come visit us before she went on to her dad's place. But now we haven't heard from her, so we think she's probably been pressured to go straight to her dad's instead. Whatever... Sick of dwelling on what jerks the dad and stepmonster are. And quite frankly, they didn't seem to make such a point of trying to see the daughter until the grandson came along. Sometimes I think they just want to spend time slobbering over the baby, and they use the limited financial support they give her to force their will on her. I guess we'll just visit her in KY some other time.

Anyway, I'm still taking tomorrow off work. I think I'll take home the laptop - I like browsing the internet while sitting outside. Need to schedule my massage, and also get the dog to the vet to take care of his glands and claws.

Nothing going on tonight. Maybe bf and I will go to a movie. Or I'll do some sewing. I dunno. Obviously no firms plans.

If I'm not around much, everyone have a nice rest of the week and weekend. :)

annie175 09-01-2010 10:59 AM

Perfect Chelle...just what I wanted to hear....

annie175 09-01-2010 11:03 AM

Laura....that is what I am thinking, having a relaxing, lazy 4 days off. I am right there with you. I am going Saturday afternoon to pick Samantha up from work then we are heading down to Sweetwater lake, DDs boyfriend's parents house on the lake with dock and boat to boot. May even do some much neede fishing. Lazy lazy lazy...easier for me to be lazy elsewhere besides my house.

diyana 09-01-2010 11:08 AM

Annie - It is ALWAYS easier to be lazy away from home. I remember one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had was when DH and I went to my cousin's cabin on a lake in Northern Vermont. The area was getting hammered with rain, so we were mostly stuck indoors for a couple days except for the occasional breaks of sunshine when we'd go outside. And when the storms were bad, the power would go out...so we just layed around and read by sunlight during the day and flashlight at night. Ahhhhh. :cloud9:
