  • good morning ladies!!

Gina - at the food porn warning! And you got to RIDE....you lucky girl, I'm green with envy - see? -----> LOL No, I am happy for you, really!

Flasun - dayum, can I fit into your suitcase??? Grand Cayman, oh man, I need warmth SO badly right now!! guess a hot bath or the tanning booth will have to suffice I KNOW you can stick to your plan, especially with this added incentive. And don't' forget Myrtle Beach!

Harleymom - hi! man, that restaurant sounds like my kinda place. Italian food, then the awesome desserts.

Hello to everyone else!! I had a great on program day yesterday. Brough t my lunch n dinner to work, had bites throughout the day, did not TOUCH a single evil cookie. And I have added 30 minutes of aerobics each day, in addition to what I would have done anyway. Gonna blast this winter weight! Hopefully at least a little trimmer for Myrtle Beach.

Been thinkin' of my new bike...that it will just be patiently waiting for me, all new n shiny, until I can ride it home...maybe late next month...YAY! I'm now up to almost $7000 in the savings account, I love that I'll be able to pay cash for it, as I did my VLX.

well, I got up nice n early and did Gilad's Fat Burning Aerobics (30 minutes of aerobics, plus 10 min. warm up/cool down) AND Gilad's Split Routing (40 minutes of upper and lower body strength). And had my breakfast of Kashi and yogurt. Feel good!
  • Great Forum! So great to see women bikers out there!
I've been riding for years, but with my own bike for 3. Hubby bought me
a VTX 1300 so I could "keep up" with him on his VTX 1800. HA! I look forward to riding slimmer in the future!
  • Renejo

OMG Gina you are a riot. Food prone is about right. OK I had one plate of salads and then a plate with lots of vege’s but cooked with butter and other unmentionables. Drum roll ladies for the dessert was a crêpe filled with strawberry banana cream cheese topped with whip cream and strawberries. Man was it good but rich and that kind of food and I don’t see eye to eye anymore. Where was the wheel barrel to get me out of there????

Flsun I am wanting some fun in the sun. Good for you party party party! A piece of advice don’t go to Cinzetti’s between now and then! By the way your only as old as you act and I am thinking your not acting old. I often told my mother I was catching up to her, we were only 15 years apart in age.

All you that are able to ride, I am jealous. Can not wait until the weather warms up here. Ready to get out and do some serious riding on my hog.

Holly good job staying on program keep up the good work chick!

Have a GREAT weekend chicks. Keep on Keep'n on!
  • Hey ladies...

Harley- All I can say is YUMMM about those desserts! on doing well around the tempting pasta dishes.

Holly- for sticking to your plan and all the exercise.

Flsunbakd- Lucky!! That would so incredibly fun to go to Grand Cayman.

    ReneJo-

Gina- Glad you got to ride. My hubby went out for a quick ride yesterday.

I need to get a new battery in my bike, I think. My hubby took it off for the winter but thinks the battery acid spilled or something. We did buy a battery tender for it last weekend. So, hopefully we'll get that going soon.

    Diet wise I'm doing ok.

Breakfast- 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese, with some diced cucumbers
Snack- low fat, vanilla yogurt with 2 tbsp of flaxseed
lunch- salad made with spinach, green leaf lettuce, broccoli slaw, turkey, little bit of cheese, and light dressing. And a SF Jell-o cup.
    Snack- bellpeppers with hummus
Dinner- roasted chicken and some veggies...
Dessert- South Beach peanut butter cup...its to die for!!

Well, I hope that you all have great weekends! I'll try to post again before the end of the day.

    Remember...
  • Gazelle On The Way!
Just HAD to tell ya'll.....my GAZELLE has been shipped! YAYAYAYAY!!!!!! Should be here by Tuesday. God, I hope so.....I'm SO looking forward to it!

And you're right HM.....I may be the youngest 55 year old you know Our kids have learned to accept the fact that I'll never be the stay-at-home baby-sitting Gramma! HH & I are always On the Go...off on a new adventure of some sort. Can't wait to really, REALLY get my body back to looking as young as I feel. God has been good to me in the face department, not too many wrinkles (yet!).

Nope haven't forgotten my Myrtle Beach Goal, Holly....hopefully that will keep me motivated while sunning on Cayman. Your new bike sounds yummy....will you have it in time for Myrtle beach?? HM...You can bet I'll be staying away from any Cinzette's-type places...they are a no-no for me because that's food I really can't resist!

Here's a pic of us when we were thinner in July of '04. My hair is light red w/ blonde on top now, but you get the picture of how I want to look again SOON! I have this picture taped to my refrigerator

    But enough about me....ReneJo...WELCOME, Girl!

Reb...I'm taking the cue from your menu. Thanks! And keep those great ideas coming!

Hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend...I'll be checking in to see what you're up to! HH is working & I'll be busy here getting my Gazelle Room ready for Tuesday. YAY!

  • TGIF chickies!!!!!

Jill - Cayman Islands - Woo Hoo!!! What great motivation....that's the kinda pressure I'd like to have. So happy for you!

Hey Reb - what's the flaxseed for? Does it taste good? Or is it for like Omega 3 or something? You are so on plan, girl!! Go get a new battery - ya gotta be ready for spring.

Harleymom- you are killing me.....I had to go get some strawberries...they are just going on sale. I got a little outta control with the Cool Whip Free....oh well...at least it was the fat free stuff.

    renejo!!!

Holly - someone here at 3FC has as their signature "I don't take orders from a cookie"....that could be your new motto. You go, girl!! ***visions of shiny bike waiting for you *****

I've been pretty on plan, myself....I just pulled back a little on the workouts. I figure if I concentrate more on eating less - I won't have to work out so much. I don't want to get sick of it - I want to to stay fun.

Sending out good vibes to Star - just in case she's lurking.
  • OK Ladies....I'm rippin' apart my guest room and it's going to be our new fitness room. I need help with figuring out what kind of weights to get because we also want to do a little strength training. I'm totally ignorant about this. I'm thinking I want to get a bench and an assortment of dumbells, but want to make sure I get some that HH will want to use too. Any suggestions???
    HELP!

And...do any of you know of a DVD that will introduce both of us to weight training? Seems like everything I've found is aimed at women only. I'm thinking about the Tamilee Webb "I Want That Body" for me. Comments?
  • Hi bikechicks!

Flasun, congrats on the new fitness room, and the Gazelle! I just have free weights; 1/2 and 1 pound velcro wrist/ankle sets; 3.3 (?) pound dumbells, 5 pound dumbells, 8 pound...and husband has a set of 25 pounders! I just stub my toe on those LOL! Yes, I will have my bike in time for Myrtle Beach - I plan on picking it up the first time I can ride it back from the dealers (which is 50 miles away) - hoping for a rare warm day in late March possibly - if not, then April is fine. Still have to try to sell my VLX on my own. Nice pic of you and the huz!

Harleymom, hi! OH that dessert crepe sounded SO very yummy. I am also so very ready for riding...it'll be so sweet, won't it!!

Hi Gina - I like that sig line, "I dont take orders from a cookie" Have you been able to ride again?

Rebel - hi girl! Your menu sounded great! right on!

and now - Welcome Renejo! May I PLEASE PLEASE ask for your opinion on your VTX!!! 'cause I just bought one, but won't be able to pick it up for another month, probably...I sure hope you love yours, that's what I want to hear What kind of extra goodies do you have on yours?

I'm chillin' out from work now - it went quickly...and yet another day (so far) of staying on program - I even was able to overlook the two broken cookies at the bottom of the bin! (in the past they would have disappeared into me, without a thought!)

as Harleymom sez - keep on keepin' on, chicks!!!!
  • p.s. Flasun - like I said, nice pic of you and husband - but I think you look even younger with the reddish hair in your avatar pic - like in the 30-ish range!

and big hello and to our Star
  • Hiya!

It's almost heated vest weather here in the high desert - that means it's nearly warm enough to ride. Anyone out there have Destination Highways books? We have them for Wa & surrounding states, as well as British Columbia.

We have a goal of riding the top ten highways in all of them. While the book ranks North Cascades highway as the best motorcycle road in WA state (and it IS fun, I'll grant, but not during high tourist season. I just HATE getting behind a long back-up generated by motorhomes ), our personal fave is the Windy Ridge ride up to Mt. St. Helens. (there's a pic of me at the Windy Ridge turnaround at my picturetrail site). PERFECT twisty-turnie road with new blacktop and - if you go early in the day during the week - no traffic! Wahoooooooo!

Ok, I think I'll go polish my helmet.

Hi Holly! Thanks for the compliment I also think I look younger with the red hair. I absolutely love it. Still have to have a little blond on the top tho

A Weight Question: Do you have a DVD that shows you what to do with them?? A suggestion for one?

And...does your HH use the 25 pounders or do you just stub your toe on them?

I want to go out today and get some weights...will try Play it Again & Target.
  • Hey Jill - try stumptuous.com for lots of weight training tips. Also this 3FC post. I know I need to shut up about Jillian Michaels' book Winning by Losing....but she has a pretty down to earth way to get started. I liked it as a way to get routines worked out for me. She has 12 weeks worth of workouts, after that you should be able to go it on your own, pretty much. Just keep in mind that if you work out a specific set of muscles - you give those same muscles a rest the next day. For example, Jillian's workouts do "front" (chest, shoulders, abs, quads & triceps) one day, and then "back" (back, butt, hamstrings and biceps) the next. That way each muscle group has time to recover before the next workout. One last plug and I'll get off my Jillian soapbox...she also has DVD's - they combine weights and cardio....also good for learning moves.

Well - it started raining today - so no more riding for a little while. I did get out yesterday. It was lovely. I'm all ready for warm weather!!
  • Post from a tired frus.

Just reading about all you gals and your exercise is making me tired! Just shows how much I need my rest week! I've decided to take a week off everything, I was getting grumpy and depressed and inured. I'm going to eat proper healthy nourishing food (not like yesterday ) all week and give myself some proper TLC. I might even be in bed by 8pm tonight
  • Thanks for the tips, Holly...I will read the sites you've suggested and put together a plan. I went to Play It Again Sports yesterday and bought 5, 8and 10 pounders. Boy are their weights CHEAP compared to places like Target and Sears!!! About 1/3 or less of the price! I wanted to get a basic bench, but Sears was out of them and no one else around here seems to have stuff like that, so I guess I'll have to wait. I have a ball I can use in the meantime, but I know HH will not like to do that.

2Frus....you certainly deserve a week of "vacation"...you absolutely amaze me with all that you do! I sure am hoping I can get just a teeny bit of of your dedication and addiction as I get started with my Gazelle (arriving tomorrow) and my weights!!
  • Hi everyone! Thanks for all the well-wishes. I'm finally back to feeling better and I'm going to be getting my butt to the gym today. I took a whole week off and I feel SO guilty about it. But, need to dwell on what I should have done, I just need to concentrate on what I'm going to be doing.

I ordered one of the "I ride like a girl" shirts from Hottierockstar and got it last week. I can't wait to get on my bike...winter sucks!

Looks like everyone's been busy busy busy, I'll have to take some time to catch up on the reading.

Have a great day all, I'm off to do some work that I neglected last week.

    Kathy
