The weekend was great - I love going to our up north place. The sons and DH really did good on the ceiling and it is 80% complete.
The nights and days are getting cooler here, where did the summer go?
I think a chick is gonna buy my bike, she and hubby are coming to look at it Friday after work. her DH has a Sportster - so she'll have a bigger bike than him....lol

Yes, my motivation is back, and I was gonna go back to LAWL center today but my Steel sales girl is in from Ohio and we always go out to lunch. She is a health nut and so we both had salad and gabbed. She only comes in about every three months, so that means tomorrow I will go to LA at lunch time......I'm very excited to get back POP becuz I still want to get to 150 and I know I can do it.

hello, it's me - would you accept me back, dear ladies?

I'll forego the excuses and just try to be here more often

I'm satisfied that this summer has been quite active with us doing bike related events and get-togethers. Our MRO people have really embraced us and invited us to pig roasts and parties, fun!

This week the Killington Classic Rally opened on Wednesday (Killington is a small skiing area in southern vermont) After husband is done work (4:30) this afternoon, we're riding down there (about 2 hours) have a hotel reservation; then on Saturday bright n early hooking up with about 5 others from that area; then we're leaving for the Laconia area to eat at a BBQ place (JT's - right near the Broken Spoke) and meet up with 2 New Hampshire guys- then riding that Kancamagus Highway together.

NEXT week - leaving early Thursday and meeting in St. Johnsbury (upper right corner of state) with two other couples from our MRO group - riding to Maine that day, spend the night there, then on to New Brunswick Province of Canada! Coming back on Sunday.

If there is major weather problems in this whole area, then we're going to be flexible and take advantage of Dave's (president of our MRO) offer - he has a GMC 4500 that we can put 3 bikes on; then tow two more on the trailer. We could take 8 hours and ride to where ever the weather IS good - so it's so very kewl to have that option! I'd hate to think of what the cost of filling that baby up with gas would be - it has a 1000 mile range - wow!

Dave (who is a bike/snowmachine mechanic) said he has a lady customer who is looking for an entry level bike - and asked me if I was interested in selling mine so I could upgrade to match my skills - it shocked me to think of selling her! but I guess I should at least ask him to give his opinion of what she could bring me. She is in perfect shape, maybe I can find two tiny specks of rust - and maintained well - but high miles. Up to over 42,000.

I have slightly slacked on exercisng for the past few weeks - down to maybe 5 but at least four days aweek, instead of my steady 6X a week. I got on the scale yesterday, which I haven't done in months. 145, though I'm confused because - I have two pair of jeans that have both fit well for months - but one pair is way too tight - and the other is still fine - ??? it's TOM, but even before that the others were too tight.

I know I can certainly tighten up some slack eating traits.

Hello! I introduced myself on the thread you had before this! I thought I'd just drop in and say hi!

I used to ride a Honda NS125R which was a smelly old two-stroke! It was a lovely lovely little sporty bike with all the fairings and things and was quite nice to ride. It used to scare me cos it was so loud and old and I thought things might start falling off it! In the end the alternator packed in. I was riding for about a week without ANY lights or horn or anything, till I went out and bought myself a new bike!

I was browsing around online and I found a Honda Rebel (1996) which had been completely customised with screen, seat back and Harley stickers So I went down and had a ride of it, well, it's 9 years old, but it had 2740 miles on the clock! It was SPANKING new! Total bargain - and the guy in the shop gave me £100 quid off the asking price! RESULT! I'm totally loving it! It feels so reliable (although I have to give it a good clean so it won't rust to pieces) and it's just such a pleasure to ride after my smelly one! The milage is already up to 5000 with going to work and back!

I'd love to take it out on the road for weekend with my boyf, but he flatly refuses to come out on the back with me. I bought another helmet, but it's a bit big for me, so I shall get him to try it on, and we can maybe go for a gentle spin!

Hi UK - My DH and I use to have a Honda Rebel, back in the 80's. Matter of fact I remember it becuz I burnt my calf on the pipe (dumb riding in shorts)....Enjoy the new toy!
The girl that I think is buying my bike changed the 'come see' appt to Sunday. Her DH is out of town and he has to see it too. Cross your fingers!
Holly - Sounds like you have been really busy. Hope things are going good for you and DH. Also, if you sell your bike what kind would you replace it with?

Hi, 2frustrated!!- I have an '85 Honda Rebel and I really do like it...when I ride it. I got it a year ago and had never rode one. i have steadily increased my skills from just riding in the backyard to now going around a few side streets. My Dh won't ride on the back of mine either. He will follow me on his bike when I go out practicing.

Sorry that I haven't been around lately. It's been quite a week. Work has been absoulutely horrendous. We found out that a student (7year old) is dying from a very fast growing brain tumor and will probably be gone in a few weeks. It has been a total shock to us. It's a very hard thing to understand and to not be angry at.

This weekend was pretty much a no-holds-barred weekend in terms of eating. I ended up having a few drinks which then leads me to munching on awful things. It's one of those things I'm still trying to learn how to deal with. Yesterday we did go to the State Fair and of course I sampled bites of my husband and SIL's food. So, not totally bad...but...

I am back on track (or trying) today. I had the day off, woke up super late and didn't get off to the best eating routine. No breakfast or lunch. Just a ton of green beans and some roasted chicken. I did lose 5 pounds last week, but I feel like I gained it all back this weekend. As long as I get back on track I should be ok. I may not weigh this week just in case. LOL.

chicks, I was hit by a car today while on the bike...car made a total unexpected left turn into my path; i had about 15 feet to brake from 40 mph and couldn't do it.

I hit the front right of the car (because it was already turning); then hit the ground, with the bike landing on my right ankle, me on my left side. I am EXTREMELY lucky - just a chin laceration (glued with Dermabrasion) big black mark under a fingernail; elbow skin scraped. I was wearing heavy leather jacker (even tho it was high 80's) and my heavy motorcycling boots. thank god. But some bruises are emerging by the hour.

someone (passerby? walking or driving?) came to me first. used his cell to call 911, and stayed with me almost half an hour. bless him!!! he held my hand, shaded me from the sun, comforted me when I started crying (couldn't help it) I knew my chin hurt; and it was bloody; i asked him if my teeth were okay and he said yes, I had a killer smile

you know what??? i heard a 'cycle go by. and he/she didn't stop. I know I would have, just to call out comfort or something. ???? turd-head.

my bike had the left footpeg and left mirror broken off; don't know what else, that's all I could see as I was backboarded and strapped down on the ground. and it was towed somewhere 50 miles away. tomorrow I start on the endless calls regarding insurance, repairs, etc.

we found out the driver WAS ticketed. but I don't know what for. Careless driving? was he drinking? it was 1:25 in the afternoon, but you never know.

My watch (kinda expensive, $1500, my departed dad gave it to me) is also damaged - a link is torn out of place.

I'm heartsick at not knowing the extent of damage on my bike - and our road trip to Canada is supposed to be this Thursday!

i know i'll be achy tomorrow, but those medical people who checked me over commented on my fitness.

Holly- Oh my God, Thank God you are alright! It could have been alot worse. Don't worry about your bike (oh sure) but that's what insurance is for......

You know I worry about getting hit all the time, it is a dangerous game we play out there on the road with those huge cars and trucks....Let us know how you are healing and about your baby too. Hugs to you girlfriend!

Well DH and I went for a nice mortorcycle ride on Sunday, to a nearby town for frozen yogurt. The weather here is beautiful and perfect for riding.

The girl that was gonna come and check out my bike called yesterday and her son got into some trouble and she is looking at attorney fees and has to hold off on getting a bike. She said she would call me next Spring. I'm not sure it will still be for sale then but she can call....I really enjoyed riding on Sunday.

Andrea - Sounds like you had one of those "life happens' weekends. And oh my gosh isn't that fair/carnival food so yummy...Sometimes it is better to let yourself have treats and then just jump right back on after the dang thing is over.....Not always but for sure once in awhile!

I'm back on track, with diet and exercise. I realized that I had been exercising, but not hard enuf so today at the gym I kicked it up a notch and plan on doing so from now on out.....I lost 3 pounds since last week.....

Holly- I am so sorry to hear about your accident. Thank God that aside from minor bruises that you are ok and not in a hospital or worse. That is probably the one thing that really does tend to scare me about the riding. We can be super careful, but can't guarantee others on the road are as well. I will keep my fingers crossed that your bike will be repaired as quickly as possible for your trip!

Trina- CONGRATS ON THE 3 POUNDS!!! Yeah, it was indeed one of those weekends! Sorry to hear that your bike didn't sell, but it will soon. Its a sweet bike and if I lived closer, had $, and was more experienced I would want totally want to buy it!

When we went to the State Fair we saw a motorcycle parade. There were quite a few bikes. Maybe about 5 chick riders. The bike in the lead was the Dixie Chopper built by Orange County Choppers. We saw on the news last night that the bike is worth about $500 thousand!!!!

Also, I realized (at least at our fair) there is NOTHING a serious dieter can eat. You would have to tear all the breading off anything plus squeeze out the grease and then possibly eat it. Not that (at the time) I was too worried!

Yesterday I should have worked out, but didn't so I'm a day behind. I bought this system by Denise Austin and still trying to integrate it all. It's 20 minutes cardio, 20 lower toning, 20 upper toning, and then 10 min of abs. So I figure M-W-F of that. Then Tue and Thursday 25 mins on the Gazelle and then some extra inner thigh lifts and my abs on the ball. What do you think?

Reb - It sounds like a very intense exercise program - it sounds like you are gonna be getting in shape for sure chick! I'm way proud of you girl......go get em!

Yes, if you hate exercise it is way too much to take on all at once. I like exercise and even I wouldn't want to do all that......
I think you should do cardio (Gazelle) 3 times (M-W-F) a week for 45 minutes
Toning (upper and lower), abs and inner thighs (no cario) - 2 times (T-T) a week.
Still even that is alot.....
Don't want you to burn yourself out before you even have a chance to enjoy it.....

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. I go b@lls to the wall about exercise and then I can't keep it up so I just quit it all. So, even though I have loads to lose...you recommend only 3 days a week of cardio? I used to think that ALL a fat girl (like me) should do was cardio. Then once u got skinny toning. I've learned that isnt the case anymore...

To be honest- in terms of toning my biggest trouble spots are...abs, triceps (upper body in general), and inner thighs. My outer thighs...even butt aren't too bad for a big girl.

Reb - To tell you the truth when I'm focusing on losing pounds I tend to go more with cardio.....it's still the same ole rule; calories in /calories out and cardio is a great way to do that......
The advantate of toning is that if you build muscle you will burn more calories all day long. However, be sure and use light weights, you don't want big muscles. The problem with building muscles (if they are too big) is that they are still under our layer of fat, therefore making us look bigger not smaller. So I have actually cut back on doing circuit training to two days a week with light weights.......What do you think?

I think that would be good. Maybe 2 days a week tone my upper body with the Denise Austin video...it uses a resistance band instead of weights. Since I will be getting my legs toned doing the Gazelle and other cardio. Then I can do some inner thigh lifts daily, since I just want to firm that area. Also abs daily? I just honestly think that doing any kind of exercise for me has to be done in baby steps.

So maybe-
M-W-F...Gazelle or other cardio for 25 to 30 minutes for now, leg lifts, and abs with Denise Austin.

T-Thurs...upper body toning with Denise Austin, abs on the ball, and possibly a short evening walk with my husband.

Does that sound doable?

If I were you, seeing how your not loving exercise yet, I would keep cardio and toning,abs, thighs on different days.....start out slower. That way on Monday you'll know that once your done with 30 minutes of cardio - you done for the day....JMHO again....
