Hi Cathy, it's nice to know somebody is keeping me company at 530AM when I exercise too....Since January 2, I've been doing my rebounder, and interval training......I'm not ready to jump on the scale....(TOM), but the tape-measure says I've lost an inch on my waist and .5 on my left thigh....I'll take it. My HR is UP, I'm sweating through my tee-shirt and I thought i caught a glimpse of my WAIST in the mirror.
I haven't exercised regularly since last May...(family member illness and its getting worse not better), but I felt like a physical sloppy mess, out of control in my head and really missed it....It was hard at first, but now I'm getting in about 20-25 mins. of hard cardio and wts. sets every day. even 15 mins. helps my mood.
If I don't exercise first thing in the morning, the day gets away from me, at night I'm too tired.
I usually work out around 9 or so in the morning. It gives me enough time to get the kids fed and my joints warmed up so I don't injure myself, LOL. I woke up earlier than usual today, (so I thought, hey, why not a change of pace), sooo... I got up so early this morning and went to the Y to work out before the family woke up. I was there about 15 minutes or so before they opened so I, along with about ten other cars, sat there and waiting. It was so weird.. all these cars sitting in the parking lot waiting for the Y to open at 5:30 am on the dot..and when the clock hit that magic number...all these car doors opened and it was like Black Friday, LOL..j/k. I was a little tired though..and I ended up forgeting my key that I needed to log my fitness info..I did the workout anyway. I didn't enjoy it as much because I had to manually set everything. I am going to hold off weighing in again until next week. I am getting a little obsessed feeling with weighing every day..now I want to weigh several times a day and that is just nuts. Once a week will hopefully do the trick from keeping me thinking about it too much, likely Monday or Tuesday
Yesterday I did water aerobics and then tried to do Zumba. This was late afternoon/early evening. The water aerobics were great but I just felt exausted for Zumba. I left 45 minutes into the class. I don't know if I was just wore out because it was so late in the day, (around 7 or so).. I may have to tweak my schedule a bit. I feel like if I wait until later in the day I get a bit more out of my work out. Who knows. I am willing to experiment. In any case, I feel better when I am exercising, even a little bit, each day.
hey gang! y'all are doing great! so glad we are exercising together!
Snoopy - I haven't heard of Zumba before you mentioned it so I just did a search on it. Man I love the music ... so it's like dancing to latin music? how long is a class? you said you left 45 minutes into it? how long does it run? and do you take this class at the Y too?
Marbles - I also have to get in my exercise first thing in the morning. That's what works for me. and I also feel "out of control in my head" when I'm not exercising. I find that when I start my day off with exercise then I tend to make much better choices all throughout the day. I think part of it is that I don't want to waste my good efforts in exercise....know what I mean? Or maybe it's like Leslie Sansone says...."one good choice leads to another". Glad you are back to exercising. I hope things get better.
I got up early and did 2 fast miles from the 5 mile dvd.
I did 28 mins. of interval training (wts. & cardio) at 6AM....I turned on the "dancy" music station on my IO cable.....(one of the 950 stations I have and never use), it works REALLY well with the rebounder routine and the time flew by.
so pat me on the back....I've exercised 10 days in a row. (last month it was only 8 days before I threw in the towel)
thanks cathy and snoopy, I don't know what a techno gym is either, I thought it was something you bought for home use........
I bought the Zumba DVDs from Collage....I gave them to one of the Latino sec'ys at work (she was getting annoyed by Denise Austin's voice)...I thoguht she might prefer Baeto, he was easier on the eyes.
I just couldn't get the hang of it to get my HR up high enough to have a good workout session.....the rebounder is better for me, I'm unbalanced (in more ways than one) so i keep the stability bar on to help me stay upright when I'm moving fast. I could NEVER do those moves on hard ground, my joints/back would probably shatter into tiny pieces. but now I can keep my HR elevated to the 140s, when I get winded i move to wt. sets, step-ups, side squats, taebo arm movements....(the cats do not care what I look like and I keep the curtains closed)....I also dry my clothes on the stability bar while I'm at work.
