Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well.
I'm alright. There's too much snow here, and tomorrow it's supposed to get to 30 below... The high's gonna be 9 below!
And I also sliced up my ankle from running in my really old and cruddy shoes in PE today.
But other than that, I got into some pants I haven't gotten into since middle school, so I'm not totally bummed!

Erin,
Here's a website that shows all the vegan restaurants in mid-town. Unfortunately you're not in a great area for vegan choices .

However, you're in luck because you're in NYC, not Podunk. You're sure to find a deli or two near your hotel, and they will likely have bagels and hummus (and I've even seen them offer tofutti cream cheese at some). You should be able to find fruit salad as well.

Now, it looks like there's a Better Burger about 9 blocks away (#1 on the list), which isn't terrible, but I don't know what you consider "walking distance". Anyway, they do deliver, so you might want to check out their menu and make a note of their phone # in case you want them to deliver. We only discovered Better Burger on our last trip there and we ate there 3 times!

That area west of 9th Avenue has tons of ethnic restaurants, so you're sure to find something. Zen Palate (2nd to last on the list) is there too and if I remember correctly, completely vegan.

Here's a list of restaurants in the area and it looks like The Soup Spot has some choices and is close by. I also see that there's a Golden Krust bakery with some vegetarian choices. According to SuperVegan the rice and beans and plantains are vegan.

I hope that helps a little. You really shouldn't have any problems. If you get a chance to get uptown, I highly recommend Candle 79 at 154 E. 79th near Lexington. It's pricey but totally worth it. The first time I went there I took a group of non-vegans (not even vegetarians) and they all loved it.

Hey everyone

Sorry I've been gone the last few days. I just moved into my apartment and love cooking vegan for myself each day There is a Whole Foods near my apartments and although I can't afford too much there it's nice to have it nearby when I need something specific.

The only downside to my new living arrangements is that my housemate eats at least 2 or 3 animal products at each meal. I know this is her choice but seeing people eat meat has started to both me because when I see the meat I don't just see food, I see the suffering and pain behind it.

3 times a week I have to bring lunch to school, because there will be very few food options for me there. I'm thinking of packing salads or bringing dinner left-overs (so I'll need to start making larger dinners). Any other suggestions on frozen meals I could buy when I'm in a hurry?

Oh so I was looking online and found a vegan meetup group. They are having a meeting at Whole Foods on saturday and I plan on going. I have my first MCAT class on saturday too. woohoo :-p Oh plus my friends and I are going to hu-hot for dinner this week so I'll get a nice veggie stir fry!!

I had my first day of class today. I think I will have a lot of work this semester. ugh.

Its nice to see so many of you doing well Jill I can't wait to see how your new eating plan goes!

Dee

Tigger.. Welcome back Frozen meal suggestions: 'Kashi Black Bean Mango', or there is a another Kashi frozen meal that is vegan. I get confused who's vegan eating, compared to vegetarian eating, but they have a lot more stuff if you are vegetarian. There is also this 'Veggie Medley Pita Pocket' from Kashi that I'm pretty sure is Vegan, defintiely vegetarian.

Also here is a website that might help!

YAY DARBY! Thanks so much! Huge help!
And...
I DID IT! I RAN 5KM!! 3 months ago I would be completely out of breath after 1 minute. I`m hoping to do a 10km fun run in the summer, and I actually believe that I will be able to do it now...before it was just a goal/dream....I`m so proud!

I dropped to 251.8 pounds. I think that should be a 1.4 pound loss.

Morning girls just have a sec! I didn't weigh in this mornig - it wouldn't be accurate anyway as I had a few drinks last night and that always makes me dehydrated and weigh less the next morning! I'll just use my weight from Wednesday's BL challenge - 205. I'm going out for my b-day (was actually yesterday but we're old now and can't stay up late on a work night!!) with a few friends tonight, low key, just pizza and a few bars but I'm sure I'll be over calories with the booze. Saturday will be back to normal.

Have a good day all and I'll catch up later.
