Danielle, still giggling about your chair rant. too funny. State inspection hmmm kind of like having your teeth pulled because youknow there might be a cavity. JK anyways, I am usually fine with this but I do have to say management gets a bit stressed. I work in a rehab center for recent surgical patients and other problems though there are 2 sections of long term care also. I have been there quite awhile and love it. Oh here is a good one for your chair story. my mother recently bought a new one that is made for the hip challenged and she is so protective of this chair. believe me i have been trying to find one now. oh so comfortable for sitting outside. lawn chair, she carries it in her trunk where ever she goes.
I am having a hard time sleepng today knowing i am going back to work tonight. sheesh like the night before going back to school, anyone relate?
I just realized that this is the first time in forever i have absolutely no chocolate in my house and survived TOM without the favored box of little debbie snacks or one of my favs, peanut butter reeses cups . everytime i get a craving i have a large bowl of cucumbers mixed with a bit of ranch dressing that i start snacking on.
My neighbor lady bless her soul thinned out some of her garden and brought over a dozen or so cucumbers. yummy and here my friend at work was jokingly mad at me for not sharing. okay I know she likes them too but hey she weighs seriously 130 pounds at 5'9" hmm i think i need them. I can;t be mad at my friend for weighing that though she works hard for it I know.
okay I am starting to ramble here. So ladies in my fit of sleeplessness I was having an idea. Maybe Elycia you can help with it. Since this group is taking off so well any one up for our own little challenges. could be different every week. simple things like water, or accountability for exercise, taking our vitamin, see how many push ups or whatever we can so in a week, whatever. just wondering if anyone else is interested. Okay I have seriously cracked I know . Okay will let you ladies be for awhile.
Anna
Anna...where in Wisconsin are you? My family lives in Wisconsin. I'm hoping that next summer we are gonna get to go out there for a visit!
Speaking of those one size fits most white plastic lawn chairs.... we went out to dinner at our favorite spot once. This place you can eat outside and overlooks the river so of course we love to sit there. Well one night we got sat at a table with those awful chairs, I was so uncomfortable, my chair kept rocking around in circles like the legs were gonna give out at any moment. I was scared to death! Luckily someone left a table and we moved under the guise that we wanted the shade...I'm not sure when I'll be able to sit in one of those chairs again! LOL!
Well I got my breads baked, I think I should be able to stay out of it for the most part as i didnt substitute the butter and the banana bread has 2 cups of sour creme in it....VERY fatty! But my family loves it!
I'm planning on making myself a nice big salad for dinner. I had a slice of banana bread w/ choc chips and I feel absolutely stuffed. One of my tomatoes on my bush is all red and ready to eat so salad it is!!
I LOVE challenges!! Back in the day that Danielle and I lost tons of weight we used to do them all the time...points challenges, quarter challenges, all kinds of them. They really make it fun and help when you may feel like giving up!
Guess I should get dinner going! Have a lovely evening everyone!
Melissa that bread sounds so good. I mean really yummy. guess I am glad I don't cook often since I have no self restraint for baked goods. Glad to hear about the tomato. enjoy your salad. BTW if you throw a dart at the center of WI there I am waving back at you. I am in the middle of stevens point waupaca . where are your parents? okay i really need to get off of here and sleep
Anna
Anna, girl, you better go get some sleep. You are too funny!
Yes! I love your idea of a challenge and your suggestions are great! Challenges to encourage us to make healthy changes, no matter how small. Genius! Okay, lets see, what would be an easier one to start with for the first time? I am thinking the multivitamin or water. Probably the water. Hey, it's free and something that can help us so much. Is water challenge okay with everyone?
So how much water should you drink?
Quote:
The minimum for a healthy person is eight to ten eight-ounce glasses a day," says Dr. Flaks. "You need more if you exercise a lot or live in a hot climate. And overweight people should drink in an extra glass for every 25 pounds they exceed their ideal weight. Consult your own physician for their recommendations.
In the past when I lost weight, the best way for me to get my water in was to fill a liter water bottle full of water and sip on it all day. Sometimes I got more than 1 liter down. Just kind of depended. I practically eliminated all pop and it is a good thing because pop is a diuretic and dries you out.
So, hopefully the water challenge is okay with everyone. I will wait to hear from you guys.
Ihave an article somewhere on my computer, darned if i can find it now about water. something to the effect that if you take your weight, say 150 pounds and divide by 2, to make 75 well then turn that into ounces of water to drink every day. okay this is pretty daunting for someone who weighs what I do that would be 137 ounces a day . I will look a whiel longer and try and find that one for you Elycia. though that may be a bit much to start with
Anna
I thought I had figured out how to take the dates off the thread. I hadn't. I PM'd a moderator. She said she can do it for us, or have someone else do it. I'm sorry for not addressing everyone tonight, but I'm just soooo tired.
To add to my already troublesome week, my starter went out on the way home. I called AAA and it took the tow over 2 hours to come. We didn't get home until 45 minutes ago. I needed to go grocery shopping, but it was too late. So guess what? We had pizza. Oh well. I'm not going to have a fit over it. I'll just get back on the wagon tomorrow. Life will go on.
Oh, the weekend just can't come soon enough! Have a great evening Ma'Ladies. I'll check in with you in the morning.
Danielle--I totally agree with your maternity clothes rant! Seriously, aren't fat women supposed to have babies?!?! Yeah, sure, Motherhood Maternity has a Plus size section...of 4 ugly shirts and pants that run so small you have to get them 2 sizes bigger than normal. Yep, that's what I need when I'm already feeling huge...bigger sizes I had pretty good luck at JCPenny...but I could only order from their catalog as the store didn't carry it...I'm STILL angry and my DD is 16mos...
I totally agree with the challenge idea! I think water a good one...I've been drinking pert near (like my accent ) a gallon a day recently...it used to be hard to get that much water, but I'm just so stinkin THIRSTY all the time and there's nothing like ice cold water
Uh-oh...the wee one is calling me...hopefully I'll be back soon!
Anna...sorry I mean to say my family is in Oshkosh, I was born there actually...bgosh! LOL!
I'm up for a water challenge. I say we set a goal and some kind of reward if we meet that goal. I'd like to go for 100 oz of water a day and if I can do that I think I deserve..... I dunno yet but I'll think of something by morning! LOL!
Oh Amanda...you deserve a great big ol hug for this week! My goodness! And you know what, sometimes life just calls for pizza! One night wont kill ya! I'm so sorry to hear about your car, the waiting for a tow is the worst of it I'm sure! I really really hope thats the end of it...time for some good things to come your way!
Have a wonderful night all, I'm going to go for a nice walk with the dog!
I'm too wound up to sleep. So I'm watching Celebrity Fit Club instead. Tina Yother's baby looks exactly like her. So cute! Yesterday I was thinking of buying Harvey Walden's workout. Has anyone tried it?
Melissa - You are just the sweetest. I'm so glad you joined this thread. Thankfully we have that third car I wrote about a few days ago. The station wagon I bought on Ebay. So I'll drive that while the truck is being serviced. lol It just dawned on me that all our vehicles are over ten years old. Oh well, I hate car notes!
Have fun walking the pooch.
Danielle Girl you're just too funny. I love your "rantings".
Anna - Sweetie I hope you have an easy time at work tonight. And don't share those cucumbers! Let that lil skinny thing get her own!!
Stacy - Hello there! It's good to see you. I'm glad you're still hanging around with us.
I think a water challenge is a splendid idea. I've read that you're supposed to drink half your weight in ounces. But I'll go along with what the group decides. Heck, I'm easy.
okay i am off, follow the yellow brick road.
100 ounces sounds good to me. anyone else. okay i am bouncing out the door. whoohoo. if anything i miss the constant walking i do there which i didn't get much of on vacation. and the fair doesn't count with the food i ate thoughI think i have had enough cotton candy to last me a year.
oh and oshkosh is only just over an hour away. too fun. nice town most of my mothers family is in the appleton area.
Nite ladies sleep well
Anna
Its late right now and just settling down to watch some Lost episodes, but wanted to chime in about the challenge.
How ironic that this came up (water) tonight because at dinner time I was just commenting to my kids that I had become so lax on my water intake. In the past I would easily inhale over 120 oz without even thinking about it. Nowadays I'm lucky if I get in 60. This will be a great challenge for me and I think I will challenge myself to get those vitamins in along with it. When you low carb it's so vital to get those vits! We miss out on some important nutrients, us lc'ers.
Anna, hope work goes smoothly your first night back!
Stacy! Hey Mama, so great to see you tonight. I'm so glad someone else agrees about the preggo clothes! I knew I wasn't imagining things.
Amanda, sweetie it really has been one of those weeks for you, my gosh!!! I am just glad you arrived home safe and sound. And yanno what, I hope you enjoyed every morsel of that pizza! Big hugs for ya chicky.
Ok, time for bed. Here's to a neighbor-free zone tonight!
I'm feeling okay this morning, didn't sleep so hot last night, but it's okay. I have a Dr. Appointment set up. Thanks to all of you for thinking about me.
I have missed so much on the board, so today I'm going to try to stay on top of what is going on here. I did see the chair rant, and I felt for you on that one. My mom, aunt, and sister are all overweight too and we have all had some type of unpleasant "situation" regarding our weight. Ah, you are right sweetie, a lot of people discriminate against the overweight.
hey ladies, nothing new here. i got a C in govt which i'm not very happy with but nothing i can do about it. i had a migrane when i took the first 2 and then i start getting sick right before the test so whatever. honestly i dont think i'm going to take summer classes again. you never have a chance to breath at this school i'm going to now. Oh well ill retake the class if i have to. i'm heading off to my grandmothers today till the 15th. so i wont be online until then and even then i might go back so i can stay with my lil babies (yes my dogs and cats). hope you guys are great ill talk to you when i get back
Whew! Yes, it has been quite a week for me. But I shall prevail!! It's just one of those things I suppose.
I weighed in this morning. Still 238. Oh, how I would have loved to have seen 1 or 2 more pounds more gone. But, I hovered between 235 and 240 or over a year. This weight might be a set point for me for a couple of weeks, but I know my body will start releasing the weight again. I'll just have to ride it out. VS here I come!
I ordered Fighting Fit, Fighting Fat this morning. It's Harvey Walden's (Celebrity Fit Club) workout dvd. The reviews seem to be pretty good. I'll add it to my rotation. I want to have a different aerobic workout everyday. Plus I think I'm going to start doing my Yoga for Abs after my morning aerobic work out. And then do the Pilates when I get home from work. I'm a fox in the making!
This morning my boss came by and we chatted for about 30 minutes. She seems to be in much better mood today. Mostly, she's a really great boss. I guess she just has her moments. I suppose it makes sense by her being the HR person here. So she's always in the thick of everyone's problems and complaints. We don't have an HR, personnel and payroll. It's all on her. She's all three positions. On top of that she's a pastor, which means she has even more problems to listen to, and has a teenage son. She has a lot on her plate.
100 oz a day sounds good. I've already had 48 today. I make a lot of trips to the restroom.
Morning Ladies, okay 60 ounces in butneed sleep. just popped int o say HI and take care today. am going car shopping with my So later. me thinks he finally found one Yeah. nite nite
Anna
