  • Bonnie - You're really going to need water with all that working out you do. I don't want you to start getting charlie horses. Try to drink one or two very cold glasses of water first thing in the morning. Every morning. For some reason, that I don't really understand, it makes you crave water for the rest of the day. I read that someone once and decided to try it. It really does work.
Man! 100 minutes a day! You go girl!!!

Aqua - I forgot to congratulate you on the two and a half miles. Way to go chicky!
  • hi everyone lost track of what i ate but i have been drinking my water and i mowed the lawn today for 35 minutes
    how is everyone
  • Amanda, I totally forgot to give you a big woo hoo on your pants! You're doing such a marvelous job, I really think those new pants (great buy BTW) will fit well before! Such little things to most make for such great motivators for us, huh? I love it! I'm sorry you're feeling sleepy today. Maybe I spread it around? LOL I know I'm feeling it as I write this! You're doing great with the workouts, but what a great way to spend some fun time with dh tonight!

Bonnie, 100 minutes! Girl, you're smokin! That is truly amazing! I remember that I thought I was the big cheese when I could get in 60 min a day. LOL Keep on truckin lady, you're gonna see huge results!

Yanno, I'm sitting here in my car (using my Blackberry) and I'm seeing some pretty darn chubby women walking around. Waiting for my kids to get out of school gives me some people watching time. I have always had it in my head that the thin & the beautiful ran fast out here, but obviously by the amount of "chubbs" that is clearly not the case! LOL I am also amazed how many kids with weight issues are running around! This breaks my heart. So not fair to go thru those teenage years overweight-- especially in the heat we've got here! Makes me all the more motivated to keep teaching my kids about good health and exercise!

Ok, the bell is gonna ring, so best close here for now. Its good to see everyone doing so well!
  • its weird how obsessed kids can be about weight also my 12yr old son asked how many calories was in the dinner i pepared and im thinking why are you worried about it your only like 98lbs!! but then he told me he wants to build muscle also my 11yr old daughter who has an older but beautiful shape is talking about going on a diet! i keep telling her to drink lots of water but dont diet she only like 110lbs it makes me sad though that she thinks she is fat i dont let them watch mtv or any videos because i that may influence them
i remember when i was 120lbs i thought i was fat and last year when i was 200lbs i hated my weight but now that im in the 220 i realized i had it good then

    sorry for rambling
  • Good Afternoon Lovelies!! Hows everything going for you? I spent much of the day shopping with my girls for dh's birthday and ended up buying a bunch of clothes for them! I just love buying stuff for them! LOL! Flying right along with my water today and looking forward to a walk this evening!

Danielle.....OH I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!! You got and that bike and did it!!! Way to go lady!! Now that first time is the hardest time, you got it done and overwith and each time from now on will be that much easier!! Its amazing how out of shape we can get in such a short time isnt it? I know I get so out of breath on my walks its amazing! keep up the good work!! did I say how proud I am! LOL!!

Amanda...your body is telling you, you need a little rest! I hope you take tonight and get some! And that amazing energy will be back tomorrow!! Way to go on your workout!!! Excellent job!!! Keep it up!

Bonnie...definetly work hard on getting your water when you are exercising that much!!! That is incredible!!! Way to go! Those extra pounds are gonna fly off you at that rate!! For me water just has to be something that becomes a habit, I always have a bottle of water near me. So I'm always sipping away. Plus when you do it that way rather than chug you dont run to the potty so much! Cheers!

Hi Mia!!....I love your money challenge!! I might have to steal that idea! LOL!

The weight with the kids is so scary to me having 2 girls. My youngest dd is nothing but muscle. She is ripped already has a 6pack. Just naturally athletic that way. But she talks about staying healthy, not skinny, she says healthy. My oldest dd never talks much about it, the girl can eat anything and everything and has a beautiful figure already. She never had that gawky stage. We were shopping for jeans today and the 14s were almost tight, and the ones she wanted so bad didnt come in a 16 and I casually told her that if she just stopped drinking soda the 14s would be just fine. And then I'm kicking myself for saying it, as if shes gotta worry about her weight. Dumb dumb dumb on my part, but I think she knew what I meant by saying that.

Alright I'm getting kicked off the computer again! I'll check on everyone again later on! Have a fabulous evening!

    ~melissa
  • Just wanted to say good night. I'll get to all the personals in the morning. Everyone is doing such a fantastic job! Keep it up everyone!
  • Melissa, so I'm really not the only one who ends up shopping for their kids even when its not supposed to be for them? Phew! LOL glad you got dh taken care of, now he's gotta make yours a good one come Sept! I'm pretty proud of myslef for getting the exercise in if I don't say so myself! It sure has kept me wanting to wat right all day long!
  • I am going to try to get 100 oz of water tomorrow I will let you know how I do. Me and My DH jest went for a 2 mile walk He told me he didnt know it was that long I did Done it several times. Well Got to go get in the pool with My Dh and Rest. Check in tomorrow.
  • Just on my way to bed, had to check in that I didnt bet my walk in. It was raining most of the night and pretty good lightening. I suppose I could have done my elliptical on a very slow speed, kinda like pretending to walk. Well, I'm not hopping on it now! LOL!!

LOL..Danielle...I'm not too worried about my birthday, I plan on buying myself this bike come next week. $200 its so sweet! Has a basket on the front and everything. That is if someone doesnt come buy it first.

Have a great night everyone, I'll 'see' you in the morning!

    ~melissa
  • Good morning Lovelies!! Oh what a difference a good night's rest makes!
I was sooo tired. I fell asleep before 9 I think. I set two alarms in the morning. One is set for 4:45. If I get up then, I give my muscles 20 - 30 minutes to wake up before I exercise. I set the other alarm for 6 am. If I wake up then, I have a little time to make coffee and watch the news for a bit before I get ready for work. But it means that I'll have to get the exercise in after work. I never even heard the first alarm! When the second went off, I felt like I could have slept another 4 hours.
My back was killing me from the exercises my husband showed me last night. He showed my some jabs to tone the backs of my upper arms. We did those for 10 minutes. Then he showed me some other exercises he used to do to strengthen his abs and back when he used to box. I never exercise my back muscles, so it was good to learn those. Plus I think I impressed him too. He didn't think I'd be able to keep up. He was proud of me.

Mia - I'll be so happy for you when you husband gets home!! Will he be home for good then? Should we expect not to hear from you for the first couple of weeks?
You raise a good point about kids being obsessed with weight. My 13 year old niece has been emailing me about exercises all summer long. At first I thought it was just because she wanted to take better care of herself. Not a bad thing. But earlier this week she emailed me that she was stressed about only having lost an inch from her waist. The girl is not even fat! She was chubby (not fat) when she was younger, but she slimmed down about 2 years ago.

Danielle - Thanks so much for all the encouragement. How do you feel now, the day after the workout? It's a good pain. That's what I'm saying about my back right now. "It's a good pain.".
It is alarming how many kids are overweight. My younger brother once made a point that pretty soon diabetes and bp medication will become as normal as taking vitamins. Scary huh?
Have you noticed that kids don't really play outside anymore? Do you remember when we were growing up and kids were outside all day every summer. I remember being very serious about my play. I was outside and dressed by 9 in the morning and I didn't make it back in until about 9 that night. Now, the sidewalks and streets are bare in the summer. No one is riding bikes, playing tag, hide and seek or running relay races. They're all inside with the video games.

Melissa - Don't worry about yesterday's workout. There was a tricycle at Kmart that I wanted. My husband was laughing at me, but I was so serious. I told him that next spring and summer I'd ride it to work for 8 miles. He laughed even harder then and told me that my tricycle might not fit in the taxi I'd have to hail to carry me the rest of the way to work. During rush hour traffic no less. Ok, so maybe I won't ride it to work, but I will ride it around my neighborhood.

Bonnie - Wasn't it great to show up your husband?! I'm glad he walked with you. Maybe he'll do it often and you two can get healthier together. Meanwhile he can kill all those snakes! Are they poisonous?
I know you'll get the water in. Once you get used to drinking it, you will begin to crave it.
  • Amanda Yes their is Poisonous ones out their. I think you hit the nail on the head with the kids now days all they have to do is sit in the house and play video games and computers . They have so much then we did when we were growing up. I can to remember when I was Younger you got up went out side nad didnt come back in till you were called for dinner. Not any more these kids now days cant stand to be out side. I know I have three of them.

I was so tired last night and I didnt get much sleep. My daughter came in and said my son was on the phone at 1am and I went in and took it from him. Then I tossed and turned and wanted to go back to sleep and then she came back in and was burning up she had a temp of 103 so my DH went and put her in bed with me and he crawled in her bed . Still didnt get much sleep I think I fell asleep about 4 and then I am up at 9.

Well Yes I did show him up he was complaning all the way back. But he says he was to start walking with me everynight cause he wants to start to fell better too. But I dont think it will last long. He will give out on me. Well Better check on the kids . Until Later.
  • Sugar-N-Spice- Alright! Good job on the workout. It will get easier with time.

Amany- OMG! I can soooooooo relate to the clothing thing!!! I have the same situation, my smaller years involved more clothes, my heavier years involve just a few basics. It's too depressing when I shop.

Hello to the rest of you ladies!!! All of you have a wonderful day!!
  • Elycia 8/17
    Morning Ladies:

Wow, away for a day and miss lots and lots. Fortunately, I was NOT selected for Jury Duty, however, it took all day to come to that decision and I had an awful headache by the time I left. Man, this is the 3rd day of headaches. I hope yesterday was the last. I was in bed by 8:15 last night and didn't really wake up until 6:00 this morning. Thank goodness the girls pretty much sleep through the night.

Anyways, Bonnie, sorry to hear that you suffer from migraines. The headaches that I have had for the pass couple of days definitely make it impossible for me not to sympathize with you. I know my grandfather use to get migraines anytime he ate anything with MSG, it was awful for him. ~~ Glad to hear that you signed up for Fitday. I really think it is awesome. I only use the free version, but I hear that the paid version is much better. ~~ Girlfriend, my sister took pics of me the other day, so I pretty much know where my starting point is. All I can say is OMG!!!! Absolutely awful. There is no way I am going to posting those pics anywhere. They will just have to just be a personal point of reference. It's a shame that the camera doesn't lie just a little.

Aqua, so glad to hear that you are liking WW. I am following points with WW and I think it is a wonderful plan. If you stick with it, you will lose weight. I am just doing it on my own as well, haven't joined any meeting. When I lost weight several years ago, I did it on my own as well and had wonderful results. I lost 50 lbs in like 6 months. So, I know you can do it and I am glad that you are trying WW. Also, glad to hear that you have been hearing positive things from your doctor. Keep us posted on your progress.

Melissa, yeah, jury duty! I wish there was some way that I could have gotten out of it before spending my whole friggin day up there. It was over 90 people, so I was pretty sure that I was not going to be selected. I expressed my concern over the childcare issue. There seemed to be plenty of people there that were willing to be a juror. I guess I wouldn't mind one day, but now is just the worse time. Plus, I would have been a Grand Juror with a term for 12 months!!!! Ugh, not the kid! So needless to say I was jumping for joy inside when I was not selected. ~~ I have heard of it before when women eat more about TOM. Let's see, where did I hear that from, oh yeah, ME!!! I always crave things around TOM, especially sweets, and that makes it rough. ~~ I saw that you weren't able to get your walk in. Have you tried Leslie's Walk Away The Pounds. The beauty of her program is that no matter what the weather is, you can get your walk in. It is totally indoors. If you haven't tried it and would like to try before you buy, check your local library, you may be able to rent. I have gotten several workouts through my library.

Danielle, Yay! You got your workout in. Congrats! Congrats!! I know that you said that you wish you had gotten in more than 30 mins, but 30 mins is nothing to sneeze at! 30 mins is great! Alot of books I read say start with 10 mins and add on, so you are doing 30 and that is really good. Keep at it, you will doing 45-60 mins in no time. You can try adding on 5 min a week until you get to where you want to be. ~~ Girl, you always have me crackin' up!

    Quote:
Yanno, I'm sitting here in my car (using my Blackberry) and I'm seeing some pretty darn chubby women walking around.
You are so crazy. Ha Ha Ha I people watch to and don't let me with my best friend. We just crack up watching people. How they walk and how they dress. Makes you wonder sometimes, what are people thinkin? I don't really worry about the "mean factor", because I know people have been talking about me too.

Amanda, do tell about the shadow boxing. I know that boxing moves can do alot to improve your upper body. Also, as a bonus, you are working out with your husband. That is awesome. I wish I could get my husband into more activity. Maybe one day. Congrats on the smaller pants size. I am all hips, so a smaller pants size will be the last thing that I am able to buy. Smaller shirts, smaller BRAS, but not smaller pants for awhile. Good job girlie!

Mia, I hear what you are saying about the dieting for young people. I have 2 girls and I really hope to keep them educated about a proper diet. Eating healthy and clean. Personally, I want to stop using the work "diet" as it is used in our society. It's almost like a bad word, when diet actually means what you eat. Our society looks at it as a deprived way of eating. That's why I have been trying to make changes in our diet now, so that I am on the ball when it matters for the girls.

Hey, I was wondering if you guys have a store called Aldi's in your states. We do, it is kinda like a place where you can buy groceries cheaper. Anyways, they have a brand of foods called Fit & Active and it is wonderful. They have quite a few items that are lower in fat and basically geared towards people that are trying to eat healthier. Like last night we had turkey meatballs, mashed potatoes and green beans. The Turkey Meatballs were by Fit and Active and they were so much less fat and calories than the regular meatballs. They all have pizza pockets, nonfat yogurt, salad dressing and frozen fruit. It's great because typically lowfat/healthy items are more expensive and these are not. So if you have an Aldi's in your city, you might want to check them out if you have not already.

Well, I written a book for the day. I will check in later. I really think that I will have a good weight loss next Wednesday. I have been doing great with water, food and activity. If I don't, I will definitely be perplexed. Well, everyone take care and I will catch ya later.

    Ciao!

    Elycia
  • wow i thought my kids were the only ones that thought like that
Amanda my hubby came back from iraq in may after missing hte birth of his baby in march and not being able to help his family during katrina last year(he is from new orleans) he decided that he does not want to reenlist so sept 23 will be our last day in the marine corp...im excited and scared
scared because all we know is military life and excited because out of the 18 months we have been married we really havent been able to enjoy being married due to the training (right now he has been gone for a week) and being overseas and now they are getting ready to leave in march for 7months to a year again i honestly dont know how the wives who have been in this for more than 4 years deal with it

anyway i have 32oz of water in so far already maybe this will be a good day
  • Mia, I somehow missed ya yesterday, sorry about that! I have a really hard time remebering when I was young and what outside forces (if any) played into my issues with weight. I grew up constantly berrated about my weight from my mother. I've been VERY conscious not to do or say anything to my kids about weight, I figure these poor kids get it enough from outside sources & the best thing I could do for them is be here to listen with open lines of communication. I'm not so sure I would want to be a teenager in this day & age! I think I like my 80's era instead! LOL I hope today is another great day for you!

Melissa, in all the years I've known you I never thought I'd see you anxious to buy a bike! LOL Times they are a-changin!

Amanda, I'm glad you got the rest you needed. I think its wonderful that dh took some time to help you out with exercise. He is very supportive, its obvious.
