I finished reading my Slow Burn book. If anyone wants to check this out some info on this workout, the guy who wrote the book has a website about his gym www.seriousstrength.com I called the trainer at our gym to see if she will work with me on it because I would have to learn how to use a few machines I don't use now and it involves timing which might be kind of tough at the beginning. She hasn't called me back yet.
Got some Christmas shopping done and some stuff around the house done. I think soon, I'm going to have to drag the Christmas tree up from the basement. BTW, my new dog proof sofa should be here in the next week sometime. And if that weren't expensive enough, I found out on Wed. that I need a new water heater. I had the plumber here to fix what I thought were some simple problems but I found out the reason I had the problems is because my water heater is on it's last leg. Great! Isn't home ownership wonderful! |

I just finished my WATP 3 mile :carrot: I'm really starting to love these workouts! Like she says they're not for sissy's! Curly I think you did a great job with dinner! So you slipped and had a desert, it was a special occasion and you know you're back OP today! Petra what a great feeling you must have had with your family so impressed with your loss! I really wish someone in my family would have noticed. I've lost 28 pounds so far but dont' feel like it's really showing. Like someone suggested to me when you buy clothes in a smaller size people will start noticing! One thing I did notice that I put on my favorite hand made cordory skirt yesterday which use to be a tad tight in the waist. Well it fell right down when I put it on! I had to tie it up in order to keep it up! That was a great feeling! I have a big tupperware of mashed potatoes thats calling to me. I should just throw in it the garbage along with the chips and dip I threw out yesterday! I wanted to go to curves today but they were closed! How lame. You know everyone wanted to work off their thanksgiving meals! Lucky for me I have the WATP DVD! |

Well I guess I have to be a grown up and accept my one pound gain for the week. My goal is to get to 190 by the end of the calendar year. That will be 50 lbs.
I'm up early and in my work out clothes, planning to go to power yoga this morning. I havent' been in a long time. Hope I don't hurt myself. The guy is coming to take the rest of my furniture I don't want away this morning as well. Dee-I guess my dog proof sofa was before your time on this thread. I desperately needed new furniture but was determined I wasn't going to just get something that the dogs would destroy so I came across this website of a company that sells virtually indestructable furniture. It isn't cheap and it isn't the prettiest stuff in the world but they guarantee it won't be destroyed for at least 10 years. It has a solid oak frame and you get to pick the fabric for the cushions. The website is www.comfy1.com if you want to check it out. I think I'm going to try to do a little more shopping today and maybe a little decorating. BTW, Curly, that company for the nut containers is having problems with their supplier. I haven't been able to get any containers yet. I left them a message yesterday. Have a great day everyone. |

Wow what a town! lol, we just got back from the big truck parade in town. About 7 or 8 trucks and the volunteer fire dept truck all decorated up with lights and santas & stuff driving down hwy 1 thru the middle of town honkin their horns... and the traffic that got caught between them just wavin and havin fun too. I had a nice day. I was a bit over calories today at 2081 but it's ok because I have one cheat meal a week on saturday. And of course I choose pizza! We found a dog tonight. It was hanging out right in front of our house. It's theh cutest puppy. It has a collar but it only has a tag from an animal shelter on it. I'm going to try calling them tomorrow to see if I can get any info on the owners. It already peed on my rug once! I forgot what a job it is having a puppy around. Jobaby.. The guy from the furniture place emailed me and said he'll be here this afternoon with my sofa! YEAH! I'm so excited. He says they are good for cats too. In fact, I'm getting "cat covers" on mine because the dogs like to sit backwards on the sofa and you know how cats like to lay on the top of the sofa. It wears the cushions the same way. I started to do some of my Christmas decorating last night but apparently I have strange electric candles for my windows. They require high voltage light bulbs. I went out and got some of the little 3 watt replacement bulbs and they immediately fried them so I have to go looking for different bulbs today. I went to power yoga yesterday morning and just realized one of my neighbors goes to that class. She came up to me after class and asked how much weight I've lost and what I was doing. It's funny how you don't recognize people when you see them in a different context. I always see her with her husband walking their dog (in fact they bring their female yellow lab over for play dates with my boys) and without a dog attached to her arm I didn't recognize her, LOL. Their dog (Dakota) and my yellow lab are in love I think. Kobe goes crazy when we go by their house and her husband says Dakota practically drags him up to my door. I better get ready for church. And here you were talking about getting it in a couple of weeks. Hope the boys enjoy it also...:D Curly.....What a great idea about the virtual models. I've seen them before but never quite got the hang of bringing them over here. Iwmonn.....Small town parades are the best!!! We used to go to one a few years ago (before moving to the States) and they held it at 5pm and all the floats, fire trucks, flat bead trucks were all lit up with tonnes of lights!!! It was sooo awesome. ** sigh** those were the days!! Basically, anything with wheels could be in the parade.....we also had alot of farm tractors.:D Valerie.......ohhhh a little bitty puppy!!! I hope you find the owners/shelter. Ds is begging for a pet of his own. But to tell you the truth.....18 years of changing kitty litter and 10years of picking up doggy doo, I could use a bit of a rest. I've been having a good week, not great but good. :^: Evenings have been a little more snack-y but I've been trying to save a snack for later and have that instead. The boys are ready to kill each other, and I'm ready to kill them!!! :rollpin: Dh has been working like a dog and hasn't been home for any real amount of time. Often coming home late after the boys are in bed and leaving first thing. They always get this way without spending time with him, and it doesn't help that oldest ds is still GROUNDED!!! :nono: No tv, no gameboy, no xbox, no phone and no computer. So that limits it to books and working on his models. I'd say he has read about 30 books already!!! I was going to work out today at the gym thinking that dh would be home....but no, he's the manager on call this weekend. I will try to get motivated after church, to do a dvd and use dh's dusty weight machine. Weigh in is tommorow, so fingers crossed!!!:goodluck: oh yeah....got a call from my MIL and she's coming for a week at Christmas!!! :yikes: ARGH!!! |

The guy finally arrived with my sofa and he forgot a piece! He has to send it UPS so I won't get to sit on my new sofa for several days. However, the cushions look great with the fabric I picked out. It was actually the owner of the company who delivered my sofa. He was telling me that it used to be mostly cat owners who bought the furniture but recently it is dog owners. He was asking about pet stores and pet websites to advertise as this seems to be a big market for him. He also told me that he used Buddy's picture in an ad in the New Yorker a few weeks ago.

I missed everyone so much. I hope you all had a wonderful turkey day. I want to thank {{{IWMONN}}}} for the beautiful dragonfly and writing. It is incredibly beautiful, and I am at work bawling my eyes out... Today, I weighed myself... Back to 288. The highest I have been about 10 years, but its okay. I threw out all the junk food in our house on Saturday, and went grocery shopping properly. I planned out my meals for the whole week....Measured all my body parts and started a chart. Got up early and did my 20 minute RS Blast-Off video to get me back on track. (Its 7:40 in the morning and I already have 3 glasses of water in).;) ;) :grouphug: to all. WELCOME BACK L2L!!!! :wave: Sounds like a great KICK OFF to your week!!! Bet it felt good throwing out all that junk...and cleaning up your pantry also!! Today was errand day for me. I did make it to the gym for my workout and then did 45 min on the treadmill for my cardio. :tread: Tommorow marks my start of week 4 for Jillians workouts. Gosh...some of those are still killers for me!! You'd think I'd be used to them by now, but I keep up'png my weights. I spent a lovely 1 hr 45min at the dentist today getting the start to a new crown. Yes...you may call me Queen Angel-eyes from now on!!!:queen: I am soooo nervous when it comes to dentist's ...chaulk it up to a really bad experience, but she was ever so gentle. Little teeny tiny hands and really wasn't that bad. Woohoo.....Petra almost has all of her new couch!!! Hey....how's the celebrity dog, Buddy doing? hehe...very cool!! Try to track down a copy of that. Speaking of Turtle......I pm'd her to see where they heck she was hiding her shell and she replied back that she's just been VERY BUSY at work these days. I've had a couple ummmm.... challenging days. And I didn't rise to the challenge I guess. I know I'm doing so much better than I was doing several months ago. Not snacking on everything and anything that looked good to me at the moment. I feel like that, alone, is a key to the weight I've already lost. Not that the 'better' style of eating my actual meals didn't help, cuz it most certainly did ;). I just mean I'm not stuffing an additional 1000 calories into my face every day....... anyways, today I faltered and had a pastry, and yesterday I had a bag of Calabee's snap peas (which sound good for you til I tell you they are snap peas cooked in oil so they're like fluffy lil potato chips).... lot's of calories... carbs, fat. All around not good. My rationalization?.... I'm going to be going to weightwatchers starting Wed nite. Not very bright huh? *bangin my head against the wall*... I got my Four Corners Book in the mail tonight too YAYYYYY.... Petra, can it be used in conjunction with weightwatchers? I don't know anything about either program - yet. I feel like WW will be good mostely cuz I will be kind of held accountable by real-time people. Hopefully it won't be toooo much pressure for me. So tonight I'm making a renewed commitment to myself, right here in front of all of you! Good morning PICs. Today is my nursing home day so I don't have to fly out the door. My scale seems to be going the wrong direction recently which has me a little frustrated. Not sure what that is all about except maybe too many calories. I heard back from the trainer at my gym and she is willing to work with me. We have a date for the 7th to start learning Slow Burn.
Val-you are on fire. Way to go girl. Teri-I think you are going to have your 15 lbs off way before Christmas L2L-nice to see you again. Please come back and post often. We miss your humor. Angel-I can't stand going to the dentist either. I feel bad for dentists because probably most of their patients can't stand being there. Can you imagine having a job like that? Dee-Like Curly said, Core is very similar to Southbeach so you could probably incorporate a lot of Four Corners principles and even their recipes into the core plan. That would probably be the better plan for you from a health standpoint (it will actually address the insulin resistance) but you should choose the plan you think you can stick to because that is what really matters. Jobaby-check in. Helps keep you on the straight and narrow. Where is Mom and Jennie? Haven't heard from them for awhile. Wonder how the body for life is coming along? I want to know more about that program so maybe Mom could post a message telling us about it. I haven't read that book, LOL. |

I've been soooo busy at work Ahhh! plus, now I share the computer with someone so I can't be on it all the time :( So thanksgiving was OK. I wasn't fabulous but I did stick to my plan to not over eat. I had a .2 gain blames it on the small piece of pie, but then the next day I got my period so it could have just been water weight. we'll see next week what happens. I'm on week 2 of the Jillian weight training. Hard but fun. I've been getting up and doing it in the morning. But them I'm so hungry all day. its hard not to over eat but I"m trying. goood to see all of you. I can't be on to long. Jennie |

I plum forgot to weigh in yesterday amid my errand day and dentist woes....I am up .5 lb Not too worried about it, I'm in no real race. The main thing for me is the healthy eating (its all about better choices for me) and keeping the sugar sweets in check. Once I get going on the sugar...lookout!!! Took me awhile to figure that one out though. Dh has today off (first day off in 2 weeks) so I'm really going to enjoy it!!! Its also my ds bday. hehe...I had to laugh, he had a morning band practice at 7:30 am today(in preparation for the Christmas concert) and he actually thought that the teacher would let him skip the practice because it was his birthday!!...haha...god love him for trying!!! I am home again for a bit. I survived TG OK, and I learned while traveling that Wendy's serves chili for 200 or 300 cals depending on size of serving, so I had that while DH had a burger and fries. We are leaving on Fri. to go to my sister's 4th wedding. DH says that she is going to keep at it until she gets it right! At least this time I don't have to be the oldest bridesmaid in IA, like I was for her last wedding! lol. Petra.....I hope that the rest of your couch arrives soon. (bye bye TOM :wave: ) I've been reading the Four Corners book today. It does sound like a good plan so far. I've actually learned a few things I didn't know (heh, which came as no surprise to me), and some of the things I've read have me confused. I'm going to work the WW program, mainly cuz of dh.... I don't think I can get him to work Four Corners with me. Altho I'm sure I can work some of the ideas from the book into WW... We shall see........ Petra~ Glad to hear you finally got your entire couch. LOL... You're right, I don't think my cats could ruin them!!! hmmmmm only 4 years til we get the car paid off..... Thta's great your trainer will work with you like that. I hope the slow burn gets you out of the gain pattern! Zoey~ LOL my grandma was married 7 times!!!! The last one was 34 years. Yesterday I enjoyed the day with dh and had a great time for my son's 12th bday. Today however....ITS BACK TO THE GYM!!! I'm filled with more committment than ever to get some more weight off. I know I have been MIA for a while. I have been doing ok. Not really losing anything but not really gaining anything either. Every since I quit smoking I have been struggling. I haven't fallen off the wagon but haven't been pushign the wagon either. This has been a challenging month. BOth M and Dh had birthdays as well as Thanksgiving. Every since the leader made me mad at WW and told me I probably should start smoking again,I stopped going to the meeting. I have found an exercise buddy and we went to water exercise class last night. We had a blast. I promise I will check in from time to time but my schedule has been hetic and I have been swamped at work. Lisa Wyoming |

We have a challenge every month on the Protein Power board (the protein power board is having it's own issues right now because the real one got hacked in Sept-who hacks a dieting bulletin board?) Anyway, this month we are all supposed to be following our plan to the letter. For most people, it is avoiding sweets that causes them problems. I've kicked my sugar habit but I need to be more consistent with my carb restriction so I've made a committment to keep my carbs below 40 every day except Christmas for the month of December. Hopefully that will help with my little stall. |

Petra.....I'm with you. I made a re-newed committment today to stay focused on my foods and excercise. I had stayed OP but dropped off some of the healthier foods...(salads with dinner) and was starting to include here and there a few mini choc bars from Halloween. :nono: Today I feel 'back in the saddle' so to speak and will make a better effort to write my meals down to spot trouble areas. I was crushed and did try another meeting but it wasn't the same... So.. I have decided to go it alone with a buddy. I actually met her on another WW board and we live in the same town. So we are going to the Y together and doing water exercise together. We are WI on Saturday mornings. Angel: M had a wonderful birthday. If you PM me your email address I will send you M's picture in the recital. The dress was beautiful. I am now working on Christmas dresses. I was thinking back to when I was more successful this spring and summer... Here is some of the differences: *I used to take M swimming once or twice a week..just because.. it wasn't organized exercise..it was fun movement. *On Sunday's M and I would ride bikes in the afternoon..sometimes biking to choir practice.(several miles) We did this all summer long. Now that it is too cold..I have to make up that exercise so I might start taking her swimming on Sunday afternoons. *I would only count my points and not eat my flex points. *I would only exchange 1/2 my AP's. *If I didn't make it to the gym or didn't do something with M..I would use my Richard Simmons tapes. *I mixed up my exercise. I only worked out at the Y, twice a week but sometimes I did the ellipitical, sometimes the dreadmill, and sometimes the weights. Other days I biked, ran the track at the high school, walked in my e neighborhood, swam or played follow the leader with M at the park. *I went to the meetings to weigh every week. (I have decided not to go back to WW right now... I am going to WI every Saturday morning....I am still stinging over the leaders comments..I might go back when I get closer to goal..just to show off.. LOL.. I am also waiting for a coupon to join again.with free registration... if I decide to earlier) *I cut out all caffine and limited myself to one cup of coffee a day. With it being cooler out..I am struggling with this. I might start just drinking hot tea instead. I need the hotness more than the caffine. *I never struggled with water even when I was at home now it is a chore to get it in on the weekends. *I rewarded myself with a few new clothes and hair cuts. I haven't done anything for myself in 2 months. (that might because dh took my checkbook. LOL) *I was excited about the program and tried to find new foods and recipes to try. * I included my family. *I would read everything and inspiring websites to keep me motivated. http://www.wwfamilyforum.com I found it again..YEA!!!!!!!! *I would post several times a day here and several times with another group on another site. I think we all need to look at when we were successful and get back to the basics. I will almost im turtle to find out where she is. So.... Wow TBL was awesome. And yes I got to watch it. At least most of it. The Dr Phil segment DH wanted to watch wasn't really long, and I missed most of the weigh-ins for the $100,000. We did get to see from Pete on... And we were both crying lol. I feel insprired again... But I've been on some weird rollercoaster. Heh, I've felt inspired 27 times in the last couple weeks. I don't know how to trust myself. 11pm last night, i sat down to 3/4 pint of hagen daaz. Something I haven't done in a few months, and I didn't think I missed. And hating myself the entire time I was eating it. That was after the chips with velveeta salsa dip- while watching the show. I've done well but the last couple weeks have been such a struggle. Last night was the lowest I've felt. :shrug::tantrum::bomb::dunno: Tonight I'm supposed to go to my first WW. I pray that the people are nice, and the program foods are something DH and I can both agree on. He really is trying to support me, but has to have some foods around that would destroy me on a strictly low carb diet, ie:bread, potatoes, rice and pasta... I dunno, we'll work it out I'm sure. Please just bear with me til I break this funk I'm in On the up side, today has been good so far lol, i've only been out of bed for 3 hours ;) I'm going to try using FitDay and journaling. Yup, I'm going to try working my program with actual planning. And, get back into exercise, thru the pain. Oh, and I've never given up trying to push the water! That's kind of what I'm hoping for in trying the WW group.
