:cheer: Mom :cheer: THAT IS FANTASTIC NEWS!!! What a great way to start the weekend, bet you don't go off plan!!!! :carrot: WOOHOOOOO
Yes, you are right Curly...Petra is just a smidge off from it also. :cheer: GO PETRA GO :cheer: Must have been all those nuts!!! hehe  Curly.....thanks for the recipie link. Its always nice to get some new ones. So?? did you end up going into work? good job on the 1lb loss Hey PIC's.....I have my bestfriend (from highschool....from a long waaaayyys back) flying in tommorow morning, so I don't know just how easy it will be to pop in. She is here until Wednesday so I may be pretty scarse. Keep OP and drinking all that water.....I'll be thinking of you! tc  |
Congrats Mom!!!!! :bravo: what great progress you've made! :cp:
I really look forward to the day that I can see that 1 at the beginning of my scale! |
OMGosh! Mom, I am so proud of you! :carrot: :carrot: The first one officially to ONE-derland.
Curly-I'm glad you liked Protein Power so much. My two new books arrived today. I'll let you know what I think of them when I get a chance to read them. I'm still working on Dr. Phil. I think you might see what I mean about Four Corners being easier for the general public to read though? Protein Power is pretty dense. The other things about Four Corners is there is nothing "controversial" about their dietary recommendations: limited saturated fat, lots of fiber, probiotics, etc. You can't quite say that about protein power either even if I am a believer personally. I'm with you on the sugar addiction all the way. In fact, I'm making up a questionnaire for patients on sugar addiction. I'm having some articles pulled on the National Weight Control Registry (NWCR). I hope you guys all know what that is and are planning to join someday. Briefly, it is a database started in the late 1990's of individuals who have lost at least 30 lbs and kept it off for at least 1 year. There are currently about 4500 people in the database. It is the largest database of it's kind in the world and almost everything we know about success at longterm weight loss comes from this group of people. Men and low carbers are under represented so I'm on a crusade to get low carbers to register. I'm reading the first article published about the data base in 1997. I'll let you know what it says when I finish. I had a couple others pulled too but they had to order them for me. |
Howdy Ladies,
First I just have to say YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MOM!!! Congratulations! I'm so excited for you. I think that magic number is a real mental block to most of us, and I, for one, am not going to let it stop me this time! Every one of you who get there first will be an inspiration :encore: :encore: :encore: Curley and L2L~ I hope you're both feeling better. Take your time and get better before you work toooo hard. You don't want a relapse :) Val~ I"m keepin my fingers crossed the Airborne will work for you. I'm jealous you guys going to see Bela.... Man it's been soooo long since I've been to see anyone. Since before I left Seattle! **sigh** YOu guys have fun and tell Bing hi ;) AngelEyes~ Thanks for the lil pep talk :) **hugs** Have a great weekend with your friend! Petra~ You're getting the feeling maybe the poster isn't really who she says she is??? I've wondered, but her info seems good, and she is motivating people. I dunno..... That study sounds really interesting, lol but I have a while before I can sign up on it for sure. Not that I'm trying to pry, but what kind of practice do you do, and are you thinking of getting into a specialty dealing with weight issues? I worked for a clinic doing clinical trials in women's health care. It's really interesting stuff. Turtle~ get on the......... (dare I say it?) ........ BALL hehehee... Sounds like your head is going in the right direstion. It won't be long and you'll be totally back in the swing of things again. I can see positiveity in your posts :dancer: I'm missin' ya -- Lisa_WY, jiquira, Zoey, TEB, Jennie. Sorry if I'm missing anyone. I'm not organized enuf to actually have a list of PIC Chicks, but just old enuf to have a tendency to forget things lmao.... |
Dee-I'm board certified in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry but I mostly practice Psychiatry. A lot of patients come in complaining to me about their weight which I find mystifying. I'm not sure what that is about. I don't know if it is because they see that I am losing weight, or they think I have some magic pill I can give them to make them lose weight or they think I have some magic words to say that will suddenly make a lightbulb come on for them and they will stop all their bad habits. That's why I've decided to try to develop some handouts for patients on some topics about weight loss that I think are important. God knows I have enough personal experience with it and I've read enough. However, my opinion, in general is that most patients are looking for an "easy" answer and they aren't going to like what I am going to have to say which is what all of us know. This is not quick or easy. However, the ones who are really motivated will keep coming back for more information, so we'll see.
|
i think being overweight can create a lot of psychological issues, I know for myself it has caused me to be introverted, and makes you question your self worth, society really does look down on people that are overweight.... I can see a lot of emotional fall out from being overweight..
lol if u need a test subject on that ..i have lots of baggage.. tho i am not sure if its from the weight or from having a alcoholic- rage-aholic father.. I know a lot of people taking anti-depressants end up with weight issues from the meds.. but i think you would do an awesome job in that area petra.. |
It's finally MY "Friday"
Hello PIC Ladies. I hope you're enjoying your week end thus far. It's looking sunny as I peek out through the blinds. I guess yesterday was gorgeous, but since I don't get out of my cave until it's time to leave for work, I never know what I've been missing.
I've still not had any pop since last Sunday and I've been OP (even WITH the few hard candies I succumbed to) every day since and also have been improving my water daily. Exercise? Eek! Not yet. Petra, you asked how much time we dedicate to our weight loss? Well, physically, I'd say an hour or hour and a half for me (that's unfortunately NOT including my actual exercise that has yet to be incorporated). But mentally? It never stops, I'm consumed with it. I plan at work what I'll do when I get home (of course there's the best laid plans and all ... I never follow through). But I'll look at women's magazines at work and every other page is the newest, most ultimate, revolutionary diet to end all diets and on the next page is a chocolate covered cookie topped cake that's deep fried in batter and drizzled with more chocolate, followed by the newest, most ultimate, revolutionary diet pill to end all diet pill ad on the very next page. The only channel we're allowed to watch on TV is Fox News and there are so many diet pill and exercise gadget and video commercials that I'm guessing the target audience for Fox News is very overweight and desperate to throw their money away. Anyway, I'm bombarded by "LOSE WEIGHT NOW" at every turn and it's already consuming most every thought in my head anyway. So, why? You might ask, am I not on the BALL and losing weight? Good question. So I guess in answer to YOUR question.... Physically 1 to 1 1/2 to 2 hours (if I exercise) and mentally?.... 24/7. :?: Jay comes back up to see me tonight to start "our week end", so I'm making sure the house is AT LEAST as clean as he left it last week when we did all that work. So I've got to get back up off my bottom and end this typing/coffee break. As always, I'll check in on ya from work. I know the week ends aren't heavy thread posting days, but I'll look anyway. Have a great Saturday everyone. Take care and be good to yourself. Java Turtle |
Thanks so much ladies for the congrats!! I could not have done it without the support of all of you. So THANK YOU for being my support for the past 6 months.
Hotcup - I feel your pain from your last post. I am so sorry! I agree with you on all the ads in magazines and on tv. They really get you going and motivated for the 30 seconds and then there showing you food. WTH!!! Curly - I also have alot of issues due to my weight and I don't think they are going to all go away even after I lose the weight. They have just been with me for way to long. Petra - Amen to this not be quick or easy!! The thing that is really scaring me the most about this is the maintaining. I have lost before only to regain it all back and then some. I really need to Thank You again for convincing me to go on South Beach. I know I complain about it sometimes but it really does work well for me. iwmonn & Valerie - Your day is coming and I can't wait to congratulate both of you when it does. Keep at it!! Angel - I hope you have a blast with your friend. It's alway nice to see friends from way back and talk about old times. Hi to everyone that I have missed and I will TTYL. |
Back with more books! "the protein power lifeplan" and Joel Osteen's "your best life now"
Momx3: Ya know we have made it this far without "white" things.. you will do fine maintaining.. just dont go back to the white flour, sugars, etc.. SB is really do-able forever.. when u think about it .. I dont miss bread what so ever.. and whole wheat flour is my friend!!! U might enjoy the joel osteen book.. he is a pastor.. but he isnt all hellfire & brimstone.. he's about loving yourself and your life.. Feeling good about yourself .. He is quite an interesting speaker ... a real motivator! Turtle: :cheer: u go girl .. just think of all the money u are saving on soda!! I love the berry water that pepsi makes.. aquafina i think its called.. food lion makes some fizzy water in flavors too that is awesome! Now onto my scale... u guys think maybe its missing a "3" LMAO when i get on there and the 40's are gone i am gonna do the touch down dance!!! 240.2 this morning.... such torture.. so close but just not in the 30's yet.. I feel like i have been in the 40's for 2 months now... shoot i think i actually have been.. woo hoo i am excited got me lots of sugar free jello's at the grocery store to play with .. and sugar free cool whip..and ff cream cheese.. (some people are easily excited) Not like i have an exercise ball & a man comming over... hehehe |
Turtle-I know exactly what you mean. I'm amazed when I go to the grocery store and see all those magazines that say things like "Lose 20 lbs in 30 days" and on the same cover "Fabulous Chocolate Desserts" What kind of mixed message is that??? Seriously, have you read Dr. Phil's book? He may at least get you to spend the time you do spend thinking about your weight more productively. It sounds like you spend a lot of time spinning your wheels.
Mom-I'm with you on the freaking out over maintenance already. The good news is, in the first study on the NWCR I read, the members say that maintenance is easier than losing which is encouraging. There are not a lot of books on maintenance but the Eades wrote one called Staying Power which I just got from Amazon. They are the authors of Protein Power (my plan). I haven't read it yet but lots of people on the protein power board say it is great. I've also ordered more articles about maintenance and the NWCR so I'll certainly share what I learn. It looks like you and I will get there about the same time so hopefully we can support each other through it. BTW, I saw a 1 on the scale this morning but my next official weigh day isn't until next friday so I have to keep it up for a whole week. Wish me luck! |
Egads... in "protein power the lifeplan" they say if ya eat a potato its the same effect on your body as eating a 1/2 cup of sugar.. bad bad potato!
|
they make sugar free coolwhip? when did that happen and what does it taste like?
|
Hi Pic's!
I'm doing ok today. I'm feeling a bit fustrated since I was OP yesterday and had a Reuben Sandwich covered with cheese. All I've eaten today was a zone bar and Green Curry Chicken at at Thai resturaunt. I'm not really sure how healthy that is but it has a lot of veges, beans, green pepper, bamboo shoot & Zuchini. I wanted so bad to work out today but couldn't walk outside since it was raining. I can't order a Gazelle till next month. I went to borders to get a WATP DVD but you could only get the 1, 2 and 3 mile together for $50 so I ended up without. |
Curly-are you turning into a protein power girl?
Valerie-sounds like it just wasn't your day today. Okay, I just read another article about the NWCR and I promised I'd share what I learned although I don't think this is going to help anyone's anxiety level. The article is titled "Recovery from relapse among successful weight maintainers". They looked at how many people in the registry regained any weight (and we are talking even small amounts here like 5 lbs) in a 2 year time frame. It turns out about 65%. However only 25% gained more than 5% of their weight back, if you can follow all those numbers (means most people keep most of their weight off). Nevertheless, once they regained, it became almost impossible to relose. only 4% got back to their baseline weight and only 13% were able to re-lose half of what they had re-gained. Depression seemed to be a contributing factor to people regaining weight so that is something to look out for and it also looks like, once you get to goal, you need to guard it with your life! |
Petra I ended up going out to target at 9pm to get the WATP video. They had the 1, 2 & 3 mile work outs for only $20!
I did the 1 mile workout and loved it. Worked up a good sweat! |
Hey Ladies,
It's late and I'm tired tonight so I'll keep it short... I can't believe I'm saying that  Val~ I'm so happy you got the video. I really enjoy it a lot, altho the chatter gets a bit repetitive after a while, it's still a fun, quick, aerobic workout! Check out how your animals look at you like you're nuts when you're doing it lmao!! At least mine do ;) Turtle~ Yaayyy and gj with the soda. That is sooo hard. Glad to hear you stayed OP! Keep it up GF! Have a wonderful weekend! Mom~ Congrats again !! hehehehehee... Can't say it enough! Curley~ I bet every one of us has those psychological issues! I know I have every one of them you listed! I believe that's partially why I've never been able to get to Onederland- the fear of what it would be like to look in the mirror and not see the Me I have always identified with..... Petra~ Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. I think it's great you're taking such a compassionate/personal approach for your patients who are truley interested in weight issues, whatever circumstance they come to you through. I hope they realize how lucky they are :) .I agree with the looking for magic. I spent many years looking for it, hoping my Dr's would tell me I don't have to lose weight, I don't have to stop smoking, I don't have to exercise or diet..... before I finally realized it's all within myself. I do have to do it, I can do it. My nutritionist (who I consider my PCP), works closley with my dr, encourages me, gives me info, listens to me, pats me on the back during good weeks, tells me when I'm wrong or self defeating/destructive... she's honest with me- to the point but not mean...... ahhh heck lol so much for the short post hehehe... anyways, thanks Thanks again all of you for being around!!!! Keep Coming Back!!! :grouphug: |
Posting For Momx3
I'm helping momx3 post her progress pics....

Windy Sunday
Morning (almost afternoon) everyone. I slept in, but it was nice, warm and sunny. Of course, we're having some really high winds and I think it's supposed to rain, but it was quite pleasant: sleeping in.
I had a minor NSV (Non-scale victory) last night. I came home from work (midnight) changed into PJ's (cuddled with Pooh Bear) and had some coffee. I was hungry and Pooh Bear was eating one of my WW frozen dinners, but I decided it was just too late at night for me to eat something. Now, I realize that NOT eating enough is just as bad as eating too much, but I was proud of myself that I DIDN'T eat. That is a victory for me. Mom! Wow! Look at you! That's awesome! And how many of us are in ONE-derland now? Kicking booty girls! I'm so very proud of you guys! Off to spend the day with Pooh. ;) PS Petra: I DO have Dr Phil's book and I've read it twice. Maybe third times' a charm. Maybe I just "don't get it." I would love to feel some relief and peace (and success). |
Mom-Those are some impressive pictures!!!
Turtle-I don't know what to say. I think he does a pretty good job of telling you how to get your head squared away. I'm really going to stick my neck out on a limb here but you know I've been looking at these articles about the NWCR. Well, they now have enough gastric bypass patients in the registry that they have been able to do at least one study on them. I didn't read the whole article but according to the abstract, the gastric bypass patients are not following the same kinds of dietary restrictions and exericse programs as the non-surgical patients. I don't know if having that surgery makes people feel they shouldn't HAVE TO do those things or not. I'm not trying to be offensive, I'm actually just grasping at straws here. I still have a 1 on my scale, only 5 more days until it is official. |
Thank you so much for helping with the pictures Curly. You Rock!!! I wanted everyone to see them because that's one of my insecurites. You know letting people see you at your worst. It's one thing to come on her and tell you guys how much I weigh and another all together to show you how much I weigh!! Anyway the first one was taken the end of April when I started my journey. The second was taken the end of July and the third was taken the end of October. I see the biggest difference between the one taken in July and October after I started SB :D .
Petra - Welcome to ONEderland my friend!!! I know you are not making it official but I am so proud of you because I know how hard you have been working. :cheer: :encore: :woo: :bravo: Hotcup - Good for you on two counts. #1 sleeping in (I am sooo jealous) and #2 not eating (although your right you probably should have had something). iwmonn - Thanks Again!! Valerie - I use the WATP tapes with the weighted balls. I had the abs dvd but somehow it got broke. I love them!! Curly - I really hope that you are right about staying away from the white stuff. I do want to be able to have a treat every once in awhile though KWIM. Thanks Again for your help!! |
Hi everyone!
I spent the day at an adoption show but my fosters didn't find a home this week. Mom do you know where I can get the balls for the WATP dvd? How much to they add to your workout? I hope everyone is having a good day. I'm OP and even had to watch people eating Mcdonalds burgers and fries at the show but said no thanks. I was practically drooling over the fries! I'm going to do my WATP dvd now. |
Alright ladies. The nut flavors of the week are maple pecans, butter spiced almonds, and smokin chili peanuts
I managed to drag my sorry butt to the gym and did my weights and walked on the treadmill for half an hour. I even got the incline up some more. My ankle is starting to feel a little better. I think I am even more motivated now that onederland is in sight. What is up with Lisa? She hasn't been here in over a week I don't think. |
Valerie - I got mine as a box set but I think you could use any weights. The balls are 2 pounds.
Petra - Maple pecans & butter spiced almonds! Yuuummm!!! |
Good Evening Partners
Just wanted to drop in and congratulate the Woneder Twins ~ Mom and Petra :bravo: A true inspiration to us all to become Big Losers !!! Hope everyone had a good weekend and here's to a wonderful week ahead. ~ Teri :hat: |
Monday Again!
uggh back to work this week... my desk should be real scary.. I havent been there since wednesday!
Well at least it will be a short week... holiday friday!! Feeling much better.. but still a little bit of a cough.. And i am gonna head back to my circuit training tonite! the monster scale is still hanging at 240 and change Have a great day !!! |
Well I'm back up to 200 again this morning. I guess that is why it isn't official until Friday.
What does KWIM mean? Can't figure that one out. I'm sorry if I'm raining on anyone's parade here but I want you to keep it real. I am trying to get over that idea of "occasional treats" when I get to goal partly because it is part of that "dieting is temporary" mentality. The other part is a mental attitude that says "I've worked so hard, I DESERVE a treat." The truth is "I've worked so hard, I DESERVE to maintain this weight loss for the rest of my life!" And if that means I never eat refined sugar again, than so be it. Now maybe you are not the addict that I am but everytime I have convinced myself that I can have an occasional cookie, or brownie, or slice of cake, it has been the beginning of the end for me. I lost 50 lbs about 3 years ago, but once I started letting that stuff back into my life, it was all over baby! Next thing I knew, I was scarfing down boxes of cookies and stopping at the grocery store on my lunch break to buy half pound bags of M&M's. If you have more self control than that, I'm thrilled for you, but I know that I don't. I have a hard time imaging ever allowing myself sweets right now because I am afraid of what will happen to me. |
Hey Everyone,
its monday  and a rough one for me. I didn't do much this weekend but it was hard to get up. I lost another 1/2 pound ahhh.....will I ever reach onderland. At this rate, in about 2 months. j/k hopefully by thanksgiving. Petra, I hear what you are saying about the occasional treat. Though I feel like I should be able to fit things I like into my plan, if I can't control my self, its better to just skip it. I did really well all week with the halloween candy, not a single piece then friday night, I decided I had been so good, I could handel one, I could use my extra activity points, but, one led to 2 and 3, then 4, luckily they were the small ones but it did start a mini binge that I really had to reign my self in on so it didn't get out of control. If I had just not done that, I maybe would have lost more than .5 or I wouldn't have felt so upset with myself. But now I know to not even have one. Mom, your pics look great. I didn't do before pics, I have some just candid kind of ones, I'll have to dig them out and do a comparison once I hit 199!!! Curly, I found my old WW weigh in book, and the last date on it was 8/5, and it was 211 so its been 3 months and I havn't lost 10 pounds. What is with this slowness. We can do it though, hopefully we will both hit the next decade of pounds soon. hotcup, good job skiping the night time snack. that is a hardone. I almost always want a snack when i get in the house. Val, have fun with the WATP. Be careful with the green curry, its not awful for you but the coconut milk which makes it so good, is pretty high in calories. I still get it once in a while but watch my serving size. Iwmonn, how it giong? TEB, good to see ya, how are things? Lisa, Dee, L2L, everyone else I"m forgetting, Hi ;) Have a good Monday, Jennie |
if anyone is interested in trying to supplement your diet with protein powders...
the new avon sale booklet campaigns 24/25 is offering the sugar free "slim well" protein powder for $2.99 each reduced from 12.99 i guess it wasnt a big seller for them... 2 net carbs, 4.5 g fat, 110 cal for the vanilla.... and 2 net carbs, 5g fat, for the chocolate, each container has 8 servings the protein powder is usually pretty pricey to buy anywhere... so this would be a good chance to get some and try it out it offers 10g of protein in a serving.. |
I got off my butt and worked out Friday, Saturday and Sunday!! I want to at least work out 5 days a week so that's my goal this week.
Petra - KWIM = Know What I Mean. I totally understand where your coming from about not doing treats but I don't want to never ever be able to have a piece of birthday cake. I will try it and see what it does to me. If it causes to many cravings and I can't get back on track then I will know not to do it again but I just can't imagine not being able to have a treat every once in a great while. I don't plan on going off of South Beach. Jennie - I had Halloween candy around me to so I feel your pain. I know that I CAN'T have that stuff on SB and also I wanted it but I did'nt crave it like I used to. Curly - Good luck at work. I hope you catch up fast! TLB - Thanks Girl!! |
Hi PIC's! I'm so happy today! I am down 2.5 pounds this week!!!
I had my curves monthly weigh in today which says I've lost 10.2 pounds in the last month and a total of 23 pounds! I've also lost 9 inches in the last month which brings me to a total of 33.75 inches lost! when they put my new star on the board at curves I was amazed to see I was the biggest loser there so far :) Petra...I'm the same way. As soon as I saw my report from curves today my first though was I deserve a treat for doing so well! This is so ingrained in me. Since I was a kid my family always celebrated with food. Accomplish something.. go out to a dinner. |
wahhhhhhhhhhhhh! everyones left the 40's but me!!!!!
way to go Val! :cheer: :cheer::cheer: |
Thank you curly! :) You're so close! It felt good to see that 3!
|
Valerie u have earned four blinking flowers now!!! 1 blinkin flower for each 5 lbs
Dont ask me why .. since its been @ 2 months since i had a diet soda but i bought one at work today>> at first taste it was like syrup then it reminded me of mildew (????) so i ended up dumpin it out and filling the bottle with water.. |
Valerie, That is fantastic! Look at all the success on this thread! I'm amazed! Curly, I think we will see a 3 any day now.
My other articles on the NWCR came in. I'm reading "Promoting long-term weight control: does dieting consistency matter?" This one is really about people who allow themselves "cheat days" although they didn't call it that. Here's the paragraph that explains the study "The present study utilized the NWCR to examine whether maintaining the same diet regimen across the week and year promotes weight control or if dieting more strictly on weekdays and/or nonholidays is more conducive to long-term maintenance. Conceptually, it is not clear which pattern to recommend to patients. Allowing some flexibility on weekends, holidays, and vacations might reduce boredom, a major precipitant to dieting lapses, and be more realistic froma long-term perspective. However, flexibility might also increase exposure to high-risk situations, creating more opportunity for loss of control." I don't know, this seems like a no brainer to me, but they felt compelled to do a study to look at it. "There was a linear relationship between scores on dieting consistency questions and weight change over one year with smaller changes in those who reported more consistency. Participants who reported a consistent diet across the week were 1.5 times more likely to maintain their weight within 5 lbs over the subsequent year than those who dieted more strictly on weekdays. A similar relationship emerged between dieting across the year and subsequent weight regain. Conclusion: Dieting consistency appears to be a behavioral strategy that predicts subsequent long-term weight loss maintenance." Cheating matters! And it looks like having built in "cheat days" as a strategy is probably not a good idea because it sets you up for problems over the long haul. Something to keep in mind. |
Curly I added my 4 flowers! Is that a PIC thing or a board thing?
Petra I have a cheat meal once a week. I can go out to dinner and have what I've been craving all week. It's working for me know. I sure hope it does't cause problems later. |
I dont' think i'm as addicted to the sugar as some, altho I do crave it and eat it sometimes.... junk like chips- salt, etc are my downfalls...I've managed to stay away from them mostly. My issue now is that my meal portions are creeping up, getting bigger. Potatoes, bread, bagels, crackers... I'm hoping saying it here, where others can see it will help me to be able to control it a lil better.... ya know, like I can't deny it if I see I wrote it- right here. So here goes... I am starting to fall back into old patterns. Snacking while preparing dinner. Potatoes, rice.... instead of flax bread, cottage cheese, veggies.... ~~~breathe~~~ Tomorrow is a new day, start over and succeed.... COMMIT to myself!.... OK now, the Pat Myself on the Back is cuz I still haven't fallen back to chips, cookies and pastries at work. That is under control at this time.. Portion control, and night munchies need the work. Thanks.
Sorry for ramblin PIC's ..... :grouphug: (((((Val))))) Congrats gf!!! You are doing fantastic. I SO wish there was a Curves near here... closest one is about 2 hours away, ...and so I venture along with this wonderful internet group :) Petra~ Stay optomistic about that ONEderland... it's right there in front of you. A milestone waiting to be history!!! Come weigh-in day I bet you'll be there solidly. And thanks for the excerpts you've been posting... very interesting stuff. Mom~ The pics are fantastic! LOL I took before pics too, but I don't know if they will ever make the internet... heheh... standin there in my sport bra and lycra shorts. Front shot and side shot... ummmmm nope i don't think anyone will ever see em. Curley~ Goin back to work... you must be feeling better! I hate that returning from sick days desk.. yukkk. I'll bet once you hit that circuit training again you'll get outta those '40s quick... You go Lady! Jennie~ hey there! Wow you're gonna be ONEderland really soon too! So many of you getting there together. |
Howdy Partners !!
Just a quick check in before I have to get back to my notebooks. I have really been neglecting my health over the past few months, so I am here to officially throw my hat back in the ring !! I start my new program tomorrow... with a venegance. No more excuses for being over weight, unhappy and especially unhealthy !! My schedule is crazy busy these days so I am not expecting miracles.. but something is better then the nothing I am currently doing. So here's to lighter days ahead :hat: C ya on the scales !! ~ TLB |
Dee-
Potatoes, bread, bagels, crackers, rice, pasta- have the same effect on your body as sugar they are all high glycemic.. A potato is equivilant to eating 1/2 cup of sugar.... just as bad as eating pastry... This was something i never understood before.. i told the dr "i dont overeat" which i didnt.. But everything i was eating was HIGH glycemic and full of sugars.. Many things dont have sugar in them but the body turns them into sugars.. i eat more foods in a day now then i ever did.. but your body takes the high gylcemic foods and they go straight to fat. And also make you crave more sugars.. if u want more info google "glycemic index" |
Curly and I are such bearers of bad news, LOL.
I'm posting this stuff from the NWCR because it is the best scientific information we have about long term success at weight loss and we all want to be successful, right? If there are any clues in here about behaviors I can change now, I'm trying to pay attention because I don't want to be doing this again in 2 years, or 5 years or 10 years. I plan for this to be the last time I do this! Dee-what curly is telling you about those high carb things is true, you may as well be eating straight sugar. If you want to eat potatoes, at least try to go for sweet potatoes, try to do the brown rice instead of white rice etc. You are just feeding your sugar addiction through the back door instead of the front door. Dr. Phil says salt is another addictive food type. I haven't seen any science to back this up and if you think about it, the salt usually covers some type of high carb item like potato chips or pretzels so I'm not sure what the real addiction is but it is certainly something worth thinking about. Welcome back Teri. |
