Morning Ladies. I was supposed to go to curves yesterday but I just did'nt want to so instead of beating myself up about not going there I did 3 mile WATP. So I feel good that I exercised but I need to get back into curves.
iwmonn - You sound just like me. When I first started this journey I was trying to eat 5 healthy meals a day. Well after a few months I started eating more and more "healthy" stuff. That's why I started SB to get all of the sugars out of my system. Valerie - Congratulations on the loss and the inches. :carrot: Keep up the awesome job!! The flowers are a PIC thing. TLB - Welcome back!!! Curly - You are going to be posting that 3 any day now!! Petra - I don't want to do this again either!! I have been down this road way to many times to fall back this time. |
Hi everyone!
I'm having a good day here. I woke up and did my WATP 2 mile workout. Mom.. how long have you been a member at curves? I just love it there except I threw my back out on the squat machine. Does someone actually sit and watch you exercise there? At my curves they pretty much stay up front. Dee.. I've cut out carbs like potatoes. It was really hard at first because I LOVE mashed potatoes. My breakfast use to be a bagle and cream cheese and I miss it! Just try to keep to good carbs you'll feel much better for it! Curly how are you doing? Bet you can't wait to see a 3 as the second number on your scale! We're so close in weight! Petra I enjoy reading your information. Thats why I'm here to learn! I hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon! |
i go to Ladies Workout express.. and i love it, I have heard many people say its so much better than curves.. and the girls stand right in the center of the machines and watch you.. plus they will let u go around as many times as u want.. they have 24 stations
how tall are u val? i am 5 foot 5 |
I read my last article on the NWCR today. There are other articles but I didn't read them because they didn't interest me for one reason or another--at least not at this time. This one is from 1999 and is titled "What Predicts Weight Regain in a Group of Successful Weight Losers?" There's a lot of statistics in this one. They assessed registry members at entry and then 1 year later for a whole bunch of variables and this is what they found.
People who lose >30% of their body weight are at increased risk for regain Having less than 2 years of maintenance under your belt is a risk factor for regain People who reported higher levels of dietary disinhibition (having trouble sticking to their plan), and binge eating were at higher risk of regain People with depression were at higher risk of regain. They classified regain as more than 5 lbs in 1 year but the average was actually 15 lbs. Both the maintainers and gainers reported a decrease in exercise but it was more dramatic in the gainers (unclear if this was related to being depressed). They also talked about the % of calories from fat and stuff but this registry is heavily biased toward low fat dieters because they advertised at WW and Jenny Craig and places like that so I kind of ignore that information. It doesn't matter what plan you are on--as long as you stick to it like glue. Hope that is some food for thought (no pun intended) for everyone. |
Hey Girls,
So It's another day and the sun is shining (between the clouds heheh). I'm over the pity party I was at last night. Being diabetic, I do know glycimic, carb etc info... When I committed to weight loss a couple months ago I was eating low carb and losing... then I thought maybe it was too high in fat and calories so I started changing things. I thought less calories means I can have more.... Come on, I know better. Where at the beginning I was doing 1-2 tablespoons of mashed potatoes- the other nite it was probably over a cup. I KNOW BETTER! I thank you all for helping me keep my head on straight.... OMG Curley & Petra- the whole thing about feeding my sugar habit is so true!!! I didn't think about the potato = sugar the way you said it.... altho I know that same potato = huge carbs = glucose = huge spikes in my blood sugar = bad news lol.... Curley, your explanation was a lot simpler  I really am a sugar addict. heheh it's so clear now. Today I go back to the good stuff. B'fast was a bacon/egg/cheese bagel - without the bagel hehehehe... After I went to town and voted, I walked to the beach to watch the surfers. Maybe someday I'll try it. It was a tough walk, lots of uphill coming back to the car. Today I'll also work on water again... i've been slipping there too. I need to hit the Dr. office and see if I actually did any damage to my weight last week. If I did, I'll deal. If I didn't, I'll be thankful..... either way I'll continue on with my journey :) Confessional over :D ... & now the Biggest :grouphug: ever |
Valerie - I have been going to curves since the end of April. At my curves there is always someone in the middle of the circle unless they have to answer the phone or something like that. As a matter of fact in the afternoon there are usually 2 women in there. We are also allowed to go around as many times as we want.

GDay PICS !!
Well today was the day of reckoning.. I stepped back on the scale and didn't get the shock that I was expecting :fr: It certainly wasn't a great number, but I was actually expecting higher, so that was a nice relief :) I have set myself a short term xmas goal which I believe I can meet and then I will take it from there. Mom - i use to belong to Curves but there hours of operation did not fit well with my schedule... I did enjoy the time I was going there although we didn't get much interaction from the staff... so sounds like yours is a good location. :strong: Dee - i hope your visit to scale went alright :goodscale Petra - thanks for sharing your articles with us !! I am a "regainer" and it is so hard the second time around. I definately agree with you that you have to find something that works for you and stick to it :thanks: Valerie - sounds like you are doing well and some good results at your last WI... feel the flower power :flow1: Curly - hope you are feeling better, I am glad that you are back to your circuit training.. you will be seeing that 3 any day :lucky: So where is the rest of the gang ?!?!? Lisa, L2L, Deerod, Angel, Jennie, Hotcup  to you all... hope to :listen: from you soon. Well dinner is just about ready (salmon and salad.. yum) so I best get my arse in gear and get some homework finished before I relax for the evening. Take care and TTYS ~ Teri |
Curly I'm 5'4. We're probably about the same body type.
Dee... How nice to have a walk on the beach! I'm jealous!! I just did my walk in the living room today. I suppose I could have drove to the lake but it's 35 minutes away and it seems like a hassle sometimes. Mom.. It sounds like the employees at your curves are better then mine. Our curves closes from 12:30 to 3Pm everyday which is a big hassle. I have a friend who wanted to join but couldn't go because of their hours. Teri thanks for the flower power! Good luck with your goal! Salmon for dinner sounds yummy. We had tofu & vege stir fry. |
i had bacon cheeseburger quiche
brown @ 1/2 lb of ground beef, onions, diced turkey bacon and drain well.. add the browned beef to the bottom of a casserole dish then in another bowl combine 5 eggs,1/2 C skim milk, 1/2 c lite mayo, 1 tsp baking powder - pour over beef mixture & top with FF shredded cheese.. bake at 350 for @ 30 min serves 4 |
Hey Ladies,
How is everyones day going. Yesterday I was kind of in a funk. I'm feeling like I'm just not moving maybe its because the last 2 weeks were just 1/2 pound each week or something but I just so badly want to get under 200 and I can't get there. ahhh...this is when I ussually sabatoge my self and screw things up. So half of me is saying don't screw it up while the other half is aggrivated and wants to give in the the bad behavior just because. Anyway it was my long day, I didn't get up in the morning to excersise, and couldn't find good food choices because I didn't plan, blah blah blah....So I was basically hungry most of the day, and in a bad mood. Anyway, today was better. I woke up and did my jog, then had a nice breakfast of oatmeal, and I"m in a much better mood. I just need to keep on track 4 more days then my WI. I can do it, I can do it. I have to keep saying that. I know even if I don't hit my mini goal this week I will evenentually but it so hard to move so slow. OK, so that was my pitty party, I know what I got to do and I have to keep doing it. talk to you all soon. Jennie |
DONT GIVE UP... nobody could be stalled as long as I have been so ya gotta just keep plugging along!!!
|
Hello everyone! Hope all is doing well! Thought I would drop by!
So far as of today I lost 72 pds since March 25, 2005 and 3 dress sizes!!! 51 more pds to go!! I can;t wait!! HAve a great week! |
:cheer: way to go Sunshine!!!!! thats awesome!
|
Gooooood Morning PIC's Ladies, And another beautiful one it is :)
TEB~ Nice to see you back! I hope your schedule is a bit less hectic nowdays. Hey Now MOM~ hi :) Still feelin good? Yummmmmm Curley, that sounds so good. I think I'm going to cook that for dinner tonight, with a nice green salad. I tell ya gf, you seem to find the good recipes. and ya know what else? You have a great attitude. Seems anytime someone seems down, you cheer them on and (in my case), it's really helped. Hey Jennie~ Don't dispair. You WILL hit that ONE soon... Giving up would be too easy. You can, and I'm sure you will do it! Go out there and do it for YOU! Rah Rah Rah :cheer: Val~ How was Bella? I love having the beach so close... but on my days off and with gas so high I don't head to town unless I have several errands to do. 2 miles to the beach 'as the crow flies', but about 8 miles via the roads lol.... Hi Sunshine... Good Job to you also. Your weight loss is awesome. I bet you feel so good. AngelEyes~ Haven't seen you in a while.. is your friend still visiting? I'm hoping all is well with you. Lisaaaaaaa~ Missin' you too Lady. Is everything ok? L2L, jiquira, Turtle and all the rest of you P'sIC out there~ *Huggggsss* Hope we see you all soon. Here's to all of us Ladies. We matter :grouphug: |
Sunshine-good to see you again and great job.
Jennie-don't give up. That 200 lb thing can really do a number on your head. I have to keep reminding myself that my scale has no idea how much I weigh, it's just another number. You will do it. I heard from Lisa-she's been sick. She said she would try to post later this week. I think I offended Turtle. I tried to apologize but I don't think that went well either so hopefully eventually she'll find it in her heart to forgive me and come back. I get so gung ho sometimes, I guess I stick my foot in my big mouth. |
Hey Gals,
thanks for putting it in perspective. I think I do totally get hung up on a number or a goal, or an amount of time. I gave up on the setting a pound goal in however many days because I would always do worse rather than better. I should look at this as the same kind of thing. It really doesn't matter when I get under 200 because what matters is that I keep doing the right things and I'll get there and even further. I just havn't been that low since like ummm....10th grade or something. Well for a minute before college, I did Jenny Craig and was under but it didn't last long becuase I went away to school and gained it all back. urggg..not this time. Slow and steady. thanks again, jennie |
i get my receipes from a south beach yahoo group they email them everyday.. i had leftovers for dinner tonite..
how is everyone doing this evening? |
Hi Everyone! I'm having a good day. I finally got myself to curves for a 45 minutes workout. We had BBQ chicken with steamed couliflower & a broccoli salad.
Jennie you're doing a great job. I bet you'll hit that one anyday now! Sunshine congrats on your loss! :cp: Dee.. Bela was great. He played with a drummer Zakir Hussain who I remember from my dead days :) Curly I hop you're doing well today! I've been reading up more about the SBD. It seems very familar to the Zone diet. Do you count calories on SB? I hope everyone has a great day! Keep up the good work ladies! :carrot: |
GDay Partners !!
I think I have found a new routine.. eat dinner while I read the posts for the day.. makes me eat slower (which I have a real hard time with) and give me time off of studying to catch up with you all :D Tonight the chef has served grilled steak with garlic and a lovely salad. No.. I don't have a chef, just a wonderful hubby that cooks all the meals in this house  Curly - your dinner sounds yummy. I always mean to write recipes down when someone posts them, but never seem to do it :?: and then can never find them again or forget about them... i should start myself a file !! Jennie - you are sooooo close.. hang in there, you will be in onederland before you know it :cp: Dee - I wish I could say my schedule has quieted down.... but no such luck. I actually just started reading an 800 page text book on Income Tax Principles ... now how's that for living !! We have a one day tutorial on the module in a couple of weeks, so lots of work to be done this weekend :( Petra - thanks for the update on Turtle and Lisa.. I hope we see them both soon. Valerie - good job on the workout :barbell: I bet you felt great afterwards. Well I better finish my dinner and get to this reading. :dz: Hope you all have a good day tomorrow and keep on keeping on :bubbles: ~ Teri |
Curley~ that quiche was delicious! DId I do much damage tho- I didn't have nonfat mayo so I used about 1/4 C real mayo and 1/4 C lowfat cottage cheese. Oh and I added some chopped tomato and a little fresh spinach. I'm putting that recipe on my recipe page. (hehe when I get my recipe page done ;))
TEB~ Sorry hun, but that just doesn't sound like mind riveting reading material lol... I have a small program for recipes so when I see one I like I just take a sec and cut & paste it into the program. Before that, I just had a recipe text file on my desktop I pasted to until I had time to deal with it. Hiya Petra~ btw, thanks for all your great info and recipes too. I had to stop with the nuts tho lmao... they were just so good and I ate wayyyy too many. I know they were healthier than other things but still too many calories in for me. I'm looking for something to substitute for the butter. Any ideas? Val~ good for you on making it to curves! HUGSSSSSSS to ya. Hey do you know if/how I can get video converted to mp3? I I don't necessarily need the video so I'm wanting my WATP to be on my MP3 player. Then I can do the workout just about anywhere. Anyways I'm not sure I can do it.... do you or Bing know? Jennie~ *Pat on the back* Glad you're back in the drivers seat! Everyone have a great OP day! :grouphug: |
Dee: from what i have read.. its ok to have some fat in your diet... as long as you dont eat carbs with the fat at the same meal.. Researchers are finding out that all the low-fat hoopla wasnt so true!
they say u cant go crazy with it.. try to stick to the good fats.. but they also say that having some fat in your diet makes u feel "fuller" and keeps the hungers away.. Val: I do not count calories on south beach- but thats becuz i have been at this since March and i just rotate the same meals.. At first I used "fit day" which is an awesome Free program to record my food... and i have only south beach "legal" foods in my house lol ok heres a healthy lil treat for ya: 1 box sugar free jello 1 box sugar free instant pudding (vanilla) @1 cup sugar free cool whip Make the jello according to the directions... let it sit for @ 10 min then sprinkle in the pudding powder mix it in well using a mixer or a whisk... add the cool whip and mix in also... then put it in the fridge till it sets up this has 1 WW point per cup |
Good morning ladies. TOM has come to my house. Oh joy! We had a thunderstorm last night too, so I had two dogs in my bed instead of just the usual one.
I read Dr. Phil's 6th key last night which was on exercise. I may have to read the chapter a few more times. I struggle with that one a bit. He makes a couple suggestions--one is making it a regular appointment in your schedule like a doctor's appointment (that one might work for me). The other is making something else contingent on it. You know how you don't let the kids watch TV or play video games until after they do their homework--that idea. Although I use this concept for other things in my life, I'm not sure I could do it with exercise. Curly-I got Sugar Buster because you said you liked it so much. Jonny didn't like this book but I tried to have an open mind. I didn't read it cover to cover but I did read enough to get the general idea. Jonny gave it 2 stars. I think I would have given it 3. I think it does not provide enough scientific information. Protein Power goes overboard in this department, this book is really lacking. What they do provide is heavily borrowed from Barry Sears who they don't credit and if I thought South Beach wasn't structured enough, this diet takes unstructed to a new level. They simply give a list of allowed an unallowed foods and say "go to it." The reason I give them an extra star is they have a chapter on obesity in kids which is a topic that is overlooked by most authors. That's my 2 cents. Dee-I weigh out my nuts and put them in individual little snack bags so I know how much I am eating. I suppose you could probably substitute canola oil for the butter but it might change the taste a little. Teri-have fun with that textbook. Well, I better get myself to work. TTYL. |
i liked the ideas they had for getting rid of the sugar... the diet plan i thought was lame also... but u can always gather bits and pieces of info and use some and pitch the rest! lol
i preferred "protein power" Can anyone post the AMR formula from Jillian's book for me .. I 4got to jot it down and i've turned my book back in? I think South Beach phase 2. is a good plan.. you are correct that it doesnt have much structure.. but I think its a good "for Life" plan .. becuz you could eat according to phase 2 forever.. I do think you have to keep an eye on your fat grams in SB to lose. But if you can take the SB concepts and borrow ideas from the other plans .. you can structure it for yourself.. Tho i have to say I have read a lot of articles about people using south beach and hitting a wall where they dont lose.. they dont gain but they also arent losing.. but i don't know if thats becuz they slack up on watching what they eat.. are eating too many SB legal foods or have just enterd a "plateau" ( lol make any sense?) |
Just wanted to pop in say hi to all. I have had the flu, and the gal that went missing from Wisconsin is my supervisors neice and godchild. There was a press conference saying they found 'remains of bone and teeth' and proof of incineration. It is absolutely horrific that someone can do that to another human being. I am so absolutely disgusted. At the same time, I am afraid. That could happen to anywhere, anywhere.
People always laugh at me because I'm almost 31 and still call my mom or dad, or email them with my itinerary for the day, which buses I take around the city, call during layovers, etc. I just pray and cry, and pray and cry. I will post later them I have more time. Love & Hugs to all Love & Hugs to all. |
WOW.. quiet board today.. where are all the PICs at ?!!?!?
L2L - hope you are feeling better soon :grouphug: what a tragedy, and unfortunately one that happens much to often. Do take care of yourself !! Petra - I know what it is like to sleep with my little Kobe, I can't imagine sleeping with two the size that yours are.. they must have kept you warm !! Curly - you and Petra have a wealth of information.. glad that you are both here helping us out ! I had my first sneak peek at the scale this morning and it is looking good :carrot: I am going to have my official WI on Monday morning so I hope to be posting as a big loser !! Hubby made a nice halibut with lemon and dill and a salad for dinner.. yummy.. I think I will keep him around ;) Well that's it for me, I will be stuck at my desk studying this weekend so I will be sure to check in. Take care and TTYS TLB <------ with an L (Elle) not an E  |
Hi PiC's!
Hope everyone is well today. I woke up and did WATP 2 miles :carrot: Then I went to have an adjustment and massage. My back seems to be getting better very slowly but I'm not letting it keep me from exercising! Dee... I'm sorry I don't know how to put a DVD on to MP3. I'd like like to figure it out though! Sometime I want to put something from Sirius on to my ipod. L2L I hope that you're feeling better. So many colds going around this year. I'm fighting one off myself. I'm taking airborne and zicam. Curly, Petra and everyone else I' hope you're doing great and staying OP today! :) |
Hey All,
I hope everyone is having a great night... errr day by now for most of you lol. It's been a good one here. Busy at work, and I managed to walk right on past the fresh homemade banana bread Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy... I'm drinking my water again and recommitted to myself :) Curley~ You Rock! Yummmm again lol.. that jello recipe is good too.. You wanna move to Cali and become our chef? hehehe... I tweaked it again tho, to match what I had in the house. Using sf raspberry jello and sf chocolate pudding and ff coolwhip (I can't find it sugarfree). It's pretty tasty. I'm excited to try it with the vanilla pudding tho. Even better for my sweet tooth than the sf Klondike bar. TLB~ *giggle* I think I got it right ;) Have a great day and study hard. Petra~ I'm gonna try the canola oil... it probably won't be the same, but hopefully will quell the sweet desire. lmao, between you n Curley I'm gonna lick this thing yet! Val~ Darn... think any of the old gang may have any clue how to do the dvd to mp3 ( or know if it's possible)?? With some of the audio geeks there maybe someone would... I should visit there *nods*.. Keep up the awesome work GF. I'm so proud of you :) L2L~ Nice to see ya again... I hope you're feeling lots better. All I can offer is big hugs right now... if there is anything else, just hollar. Good Day to every single Partner In Crime out there!!! :grouphug: |
chocolate & raspberry ? now that sounds really yummy!
|
ONE-derland
This is a quick fly by to let you know it is official. I made it to onederland.
I'm on call this weekend and I'm expecting it to be unpleasant. I already have to be at the hospital bright and early to see a kid (and I don't see kids) so you can see how it is starting out. |
Mornin' Chicks,
I had to install a new motherboard, but I've got my balky computer up and running again. curly.....Jillian's AMR formula is BMR x Daily Activity Score + Exercise Expenditure = Active Metabolic Rate. Is that what you needed or do you need more info? Momx.....The pictures are awesome! Jennie.....You are so close to onederland, you will soon be there. Petra.....It is great that you take the time to share all of your research with us. Congrats on reaching onederland. Greetings to all PICs. Hang in there. We are winning! zoey |
Petra congrats!!! That is so great you're now in one-derland!!! :carrot: :flow2: :balloons: :cheer:
|
thanks Zoey can u give me the formula for the BMR also?
|
Curly it is 655 + (4.3 x weight in lbs.) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years).
zoey |
Petra: wooooo hooo 198 :cheer:
Zoey: Thank u so much for the formula! Ok guys last night i guess i had a relapse or being sick & working this week finally got me.. but i laid down @ 7 and went fast asleep till today! But now I feel like myself again!! Did an hour of circuit training and went hiking today with a friend for an hour! went to GNC and got myself some PROTEIN POWDER!! some vitamin c. and cod liver oil capsules (arthritis) LOL i forgot how good it feels not to be sick!! still have a lil bit of a croopy cough but just a smidgen... thank goodness i got my energy back!! |
I had one crappy day! I got 10 consults!!! I actually didn't do one because the secretary didn't give me good information about where it was and I thought it was in a different hospital and by the time I got to it, the patient had been discharged.
I did have one neat experience. I got off the elevator on one floor, and the unit clerk there hadn't seen me for awhile and she said Wow! You must have lost 40 lbs! You look great! I said Yup. I hope tomorrow is a better day. The law of averages says it should be. |
GDay PICs !!
Hope everyone had an enjoyable Friday. The weather here was awful.. wind and rain.. although I was pretty happy about since I was stuck in side reading a tax book ! Petra ~ congratulations !! :bravo: This group is really pulling out all the stops and having some big losses.. I look forward to the day when I can do the same. Curly ~ sounds like a good nights sleep was what you needed. Hopefully you get rid of that cough soon. Zoey ~ glad that your computer is back with us ! Dee ~ well done in resisting the banana bread and getting your water in :cp: Where are all the other MIA PICs ?!?! Hope you are all doing well and sticking to it! Well I am off to have me some :hun: tonight it is a small pork chop, half a baked potato and a half a plate of veggies. TTYS :D |
weighed in this morning.. grrrr exactly 240.0 then went back to sleep for @ 2 hrs and got up and checked again and it was 239.0 :cheer:
Since i have been in the 240's since late august I am taking the 239.. if only for my sanity!! lol |
Good for you curly!!!! You really hung in there for a long time and you didn't give up.
zoey |
KNOCK KNOCK......Who's there? Well if it isn't ol' Angel-eyes!!!!
Its sooo good to be finally back! I've got a few more pages of catchingup to do but I wanted to say a quick hi, and Congratulations to Petra!!! Woohoo...Onderland !!! My friend left on Wednesday and what a time we had!!! You know some friends you don't have to talk to everyday and can go sometimes months without talking to them, and then pick right up where you left off. She's been my friend for over 30 years (gosh that sounds like I'm so old...hehe) and we had a blast. Shopping was fantastic here for her, and she left with 3 prs of pants and about a dozen new tops!!! First day of shopping, we only hit 2 stores and we were gone 8 hours!!!! She brought a belly dancing dvd and some coin shawls and we were a shaking and laughing all at the same time. Thankfully she helped me more than once with the boys as dh was out of town and I came down with the flu/bronchitis. Not pretty and I still have a wicked cough. Hopefully Monday I'll head back to the gym and start up again with my weights. Food wise I've still been OP although Gail, (my friend) was apt to have a bag of chips and a glass of wine everyday at 4:30!!! I'm not a big chip person and wine is a no no for me. |
Yeah for you Curly. It's about time. :carrot:
Good to have you back Angel. Glad you had a good time with your friend. I'm having a freakish day today. I've only had one consult all day. I even went to the office twice and checked the printer and there weren't any others. It has me scared that I am going to get slammed tomorrow so I have tried to take advantage and do groceries, laundry, pick up the drycleaning, etc. while I had the time. I have Chicken Paprikash in the slow cooker. Hope it turns out good. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Talk to you soon. |
