Hi Girls,
Not a lot to say here these days... I'm going thru something, but I'm not sure what lol. Probably just the winter doldrums. Winter here is wind and rain. We had beautiful weather up til a couple days ago. Now it's just plain nasty. I think S-N-O-W would even be better than this lol. Anyways, I just don't seem to have the drive to follow any plan. I did well at the parties (I'm proud of myself for that), but then the leftovers were brought to the store and I just couldn't make myself stay away :( My friends even tried to help with gentle comments, (They weren't hurtful or mean comments- and I didn't feel insulted by them) but I joked them off. I don't think I've had a gain this week tho... I am thankful for many GOOD eating habits (errrrrr should I say NOT eating habits heheh) that have already worked their way into my lifestyle. I'm seriously thinking of working with the 4 corners now. I think I can get away with it cuz they never ask at the WW meetings to see my diary lol... I really like the comaraderie there and I don't want to stop going but I just don't think it's the right plan for me. (I'm sounding sooo wishy washy but it's how I'm feeling now). ..........Ramble Ramble Ramble......... I will concentrate on my emotional eating. I will concentrate on eating my recommended fruits and veggies. I will concentrate on my water. I will concentrate on ME. Val~ Congratulations Hon!!!! You are doing sooooo well! Keep it up. Soon you'r gonna have a whole bouqet :encore: ...hmmmm does anyone else see the McDonalds arches when the lil encore guy bows? hehehehe Petra~ How's the writing going? Hey, if you need someone to read it over for you, I bet you could find some volunteers here ;) You are going to be SO prepared for maintenance! You are one focused woman and I don't see you ever falling back again :) AngelEyes and Curly~ :goodvibes :cheer: :goodluck: Stick with it PIC's! You are ALL inspiration to me. And when my head gets back in it's right place I'm gonna remember every one of your posts. Your struggles. Your victories. And I'm gonna use them to motivate me further! YOU GO GIRLS!!!!!!! Love to you all!!! :grouphug: D~ |
well on the bright side... :) this is the last of the "eating" holidays! and they soon will be over!! its so much easier to stay focused when everyone isnt bringing goodies and all the extra parties are going on........
stay tuff .... it will soon be over and everyone can get back at it full swing! |
Thanks for all the encouragement ladies. I had a couple patients bring me food gifts today. One brought me a box of chocolates which I gave to the office staff who snarfed it down. I can still imagine how good it tastes which kind of disturbs me. I guess all addicts are like that. The other one works in a bakery and brought me a sugar free raspberry cheesecake. How sweet was that? It does have a real graham cracker crust. I'm going to have to tell them how to make a low carb crust for their hard core low carb customers but the cheesecake is very good.
The writing is coming along pretty well. I think I probably sound like a woman possessed but I think in general weight loss programs are not hard core enough which is why people don't stick with them. In fact, I think they may make them lenient on purpose so that people are more likely to fail and keep coming back so they can keep making money off of them. This will not be a program for people who are unsure about whether or not they are committed. So far it is 25 pages long so I'm not sure any of you really want to do that much reading and I'm not done yet. I still have some sizable chunks to add. |
Thanks Curly. You're right. The Holidays will be over soon and things will be back to normal again. I will stop beating myself up and getting all depressed. Heh, I can't believe I actually thought I could make it thru the holidays without a problem lol.. WOW was that ever a booboo ;)
Petra~ I think you're onto something in the Program being lenient theory. THat's what I think my issue with WW is. What I really need, is a strict what, when, where and how, I can and cannot have! Hmmmmm A personal chef wouldn't hurt either ;) ;) Everyone have another great day!! |
(((Dee))) I feel the same way. I always get the winter blues. This is just my opinion but I think you should stop focusing on so many different diets. They seem to be just fustrating and confusing you. Do you think you would just do simple calorie counting? Fitday has helped me so much! It's a little hard at the beginning putting all the food in but once you have your list it's easy! I really think cutting calories is the MOST important thing in losing weight. Well that and exercising!
|
YOur opinion is probably right on Val.... Trying to fit to many rules from the 'diets', each suiting my various medical and physical needs has totally confused me. That's kinda why I decided on WW. Mostly calorieish counting without a lot of food limitations but since I started that, I've really been having problems. I did best cutting down carbs, and just generally being aware what I was eating.... cutting down on cals in general. I'm really interested in 4 corners from a weight loss aspect plus it's got specifics for diabetics in it. Heck, all of them focus on less calories in/more out.... anyways, I'm not giving up!!! And yes, FitDay was eye opening for me but I haven't kept up on it. I need to.
Thank you sooooo much for your support. (((((Val)))))) |
Dee-I don't know if this will help, but here are my 5 commandments
1. The best diet for you is the one you can stick to for life--doesn't matter if that is low calorie/low fat, low glycemic, low carb, or portion control, provided it is based on good nutritional principles. Pick something and stick to it. 2. Cheating is the enemy of successful weight loss--whatever your plan. You need to commit yourself to it, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (well maybe 363 days a year, but you get my point). 3. Journal! Journal! Journal! Almost everyone who is successful at this has to keep a food journal at least at the beginning. It is the only way to be sure you are being consistent with your food plan. Also if you need to get help from someone else, it is the only way they will know what exactly you have been eating. And yes, you need to weigh and measure. Eventually you get used to portion sizes and you don't need to do this as much but in the beginning you do. 4. Be honest with yourself about your "addictions." Many of us have some food or foods we can't eat in moderation and have to seriously consider whether or not we can eat them at all. If you find that they are repeatedly leading you to fall off the wagon or into a binge, than maybe it is time to consider abstinence. 5. Exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle. Everyone should include a regular exercise program. Doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. Can be a walking program or fitness videos. Some people get over focused on this aspect which is why I put it last. Unless you have very little weight to lose, exercise alone will not do the trick but it is part of the package. |
Well said Petra and Val !!! What a wealth of knowledge we have. Isn't it good to get so many valuable ideas and tips from this site? Thats why I love coming here, there's also something to be said about the friendships too!!!
Honestly Iwmonn.....this time of year is so much fun with all the parties and gift giving, but it is also the most pressured time. Everyone trying to put food in our mouths, throwing parties, and can I say .....wine and alcohol? Just do your best and feel confident that once this season is over, you can put another serious effort towards better health. (whatever that means to you; dieting, excercises, losing inches, feeling better, motivation to do more) Today is my rest day, so ds and I are going to take in a movie. I love just going on a 'date' with him as his older brother is still in school. We don't get to do much twosome stuff as the other one feels left out, dh and I are trying to give both of them some 'one on one' time. We are going to see the "Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe", I've heard some pretty good reviews about it. Other than some wrapping and ironing....(grrrr) thats pretty much my day. Hope everyone has a good day, its almost Christmas....hang in there!!!! |
Hiya PIC's,
first thanks again to all of you for your continued support. You are all Awesome! I feel like I can't concentrate on anything, like I shouldn't even be here, but I'm refusing to give up. Partly cuz you all seem to really care :) I realize I really haven't given WW a fair shake at all. I am the one who hasn't followed thru with the plan soooo I'm going to keep pluggin' along at it. I can do this. It may be another couple weeks before I truely get back on track, but I will continue to make the wisest choices I can until then. I'm really getting nervous for the trip to Denver!! Meeting all those new people- Lee's entire family! He and his youngest brother haven't spoken since the 70's! And all his dad wants is to see all his boys together again :) it's gonna be a real test. Petra~ Thank you for posting Your 5 commandments. Every single one of those are sooo common sensical, but sometimes seeing them in print helps to remind me of them. To stop pretending they really don't exist. (sort of like the chips nobody saw me eat won't add any calories ;))If it's ok with you, I'm gonna print them out. Maybe make an attractive little poster to put on the fridge. I really value your input! AngelEyes~ Thank you too... You always have good sense, no nonsense input! I will concentrate on getting thru the rest of the month. I will continue to go to my meetings and then I will get my big butt back on track with my exercise ;) I hope your date went well. I used to love doing that with my nephew (as I have no little ones). Can you believe he made me leave the theater when we went to Toy Story lmao!!!! He'd already seen it and knew Sid was coming. He thought Sid was scary. Ya know, after I watched the whole movie, I kinda thought Sid was scary too hehehehehe. (((((val, curly, mom, LIsa, turtle, and all the PIC's)))))) |
Iwmonn.....yw!! you know....I wouldn't expect any less of a pep talk when I'm down and out. I'M COUNTING ON IT!!! Believe me, we all have those days.
Just back from the movie.....it was fantastic!!! I hadn't read any of C.S. Lewis' books but if my ds lets me, I'll read his copy. I was surprized at the computer graphics,...out of this world!! Without telling too much about the movie, some parts were quite violent(graphic) and the movie was only a PG rating. I know that there were even little kids in the movie theatre (3-5yo) and how they will go to bed tonight without nightmares is beyond me!! Overall we had a great time and reccommend it. Proud to say that I also didn't have any popcorn!!! WOOHOOO __________________ |
Yes, you can print them out for yourself. Just don't hand them out at your WW meeting or anything.
|
Dee dont u dare give up girl!!! I have been stuck so long and i am gonna keep on plugging away at it... and thats what u need to do... once all the craziness with christmas is over ...
this journey does have its ups and downs (emotionally) and ya gotta just ride with the tide... be tuff and dig your heels in and keep at it.. Yo gotta have your mindset that NOTHING is gonna defeat you... if u are hungry eat! but just make sure its something that is gonna do something for you... (if that makes sense) My problem was if there were goodies i thought i had to eat them... well i have learned No i don't need to eat them they will make plenty more.. and i proably would rather have something else anyways..... Its all a mind game........ you just have to teach yourself that things that are good for you really can taste better than things that arent... an apple can be as good as cake.. if you make yourself believe that.. Hehehe boy am i rambling.... but take today for exsample>> we had our christmas party and i am soooo proud of myself... yep there were lots high calorie foods and lots of things that are not in my eating plan.. but i just looked for the things that were... i had a nice slice of turkey, a slice of ham, some steamed shrimp, green beans.. and i had a diet pepsi which i have not had since october... lol i was so happy with my diet pepsi... i couldnt have cared less about the cake table! lol anyways after all that rambling... I don't want u to leave either!!! cuz next year at this time WE will be posting about how thin and sexy we are at our goal weights!!!! woo hoo! |
Way to go Petra for giving the chocolates away! :cheer:
|
I like to keep a journal of what I eat. Would anyone be interested in posting their diet & exercise here? I know theres another topic for that. Heres my daily food

If that would help people who are struggling I would be willing to do it. BTW, did we decide if we are starting a new thread with the new year?
|
Well Girls,
After all my strife and agony, I just got back from my meeting..... 5.2 lbs lost!!!! Ok, so I didn't actually follow the plan, but something worked. I'm not gonna test it every week tho lol. I was so close to skipping the meeting tonight. I'm glad I didn't :) Val~ I'd post my food Diary here. It would definately help my accountability, I'm sure. btw... did ya see I finally got a new flower? *G* Curly~ Thank you! I have no intention of quitting GF. I've done that tooooo many times before. I'm in it for the long haul. Sounds like you did great with all the goodies. :cp: Keep it up! Petra~ Thanks for letting me reprint your stuff. I only want it for my fridge.... and also for offering to post your food journal too. I'm kinda thinkin you may be offering for my benefit, and as I seem to be the one in trouble lately. I just want you to know if you are to busy you don't have to.... blah blah lol.... AngelEyes~ :) Glad you had a good time on your date! WTG skipping the movie popcorn!!! :grouphug: B 2 eggs w/sm slice ham, tomato, green beans on a lowfat ww tortilla S 6 triscuits, 1/4 large apple L 2 slices flax bread, 1 sl cheddar, tomato, tiny bit of mayo, diet rite D 6 oz meatloaf, 1/3C mashed pot (no gravy), huge plate of broccoli S Eskimo Pie SF ice cream bar btw, if I haven't mentiond this bread, it's Alvarado St. sprouted 100% whole grain flax bread. 2 slices has only 100 cals, 1.5g fat, 12 net carbs. ;) Exercise~none:rollpin: |

Hi *waves* I'm new to 3FC, and I'm grossly (to myself atleast) over weight. I'm 19, and have always been over weight , except for when I was a toddler/young kid. I'm looking for a support group that will give me a bit of a responsiblity (sp) for having to stay on track, and keep records of my weight loss. Currently I have a nutri-diary (which I haven't used in over a month), and a blds (same story), along with a lj (also been over a month). I'm a bit obsessive with my weight, because my last serious boyfriend I feel broke up with me because of it. So since then it's been a mainstream thing for me. I've given up soda for a month at a time, same with meats, and it was going great until last Christmas when I went to see my dad. He's huge to me, and its because he doesn't do anything but play videogames and drive truck (and nothing against truck drivers). He doesn't eat right, and would give me trouble for spending my food money on salads, and water. So slowly I resorted back to my previous habits, of eatting at all hours, not taking notice... Now its just hard to get back into eatting right, and keeping track and weighing myself.
Anywho, I hope I'm of some help to others, and I hope that I've finally found a group to help me stay on track. Love, Lyndsey. |
((((DEE)))) WTG! 5 pounds is awsome! Great job on the new flower!:bravo:
I love to have a big plate of brocolli with dinner. It's low in calories and a low glycemic carb so it will give you energy for a long time! I had to go back and edit my food for the day. I cheated a bit today and had 2 peanut butter sandwiches. But I was only a bit over on calories. I'll be lower tomorrow! :carrot: Lyndsey welcome to our group! :welcome: I'm a bit obsessive about loosing weight also. But I do think you need to be a bit obsessed to stick to a plan! |
thursday 12-22
WOW Dee :cheer: Way to go!!!!! & you met your santa slim down goal before christmas!!!!!
Angel: We are hanging tuff! Val: You are doing a great job... One day at a time! Petra: we have almost made it thru all the holiday goodies... Lyndsey:Welcome to the group!! :) I am like u i was heavy all my life.. To all our lost PICS come back................ where are u??? |
Dee-That is fantastic. See what thinking about what you are eating just a little bit can do for you? That bread sounds interesting. What does it taste like?
Welcome to our group Lyndsey. There is a lot of great support here. Post often, it really helps. I think I may take obsessive to a whole new level. I really am trying to learn everything there is to know about the topic. I'm with Curly on the doing it while you are young thing. This definately gets harder as you get older--not impossible, but definately harder. Some of us are going to start posting our food journals to help us stay accoutable to each other. Feel free to join in. This is going to get really tough with the holiday. I'm hoping a lot of our missing PICs will return with the new year. I have off from work until next Wed. WOOHOO!! I have my personal training session this morning. I'm also getting my new water heater today and I went to power yoga last night for the first time in a couple weeks. I better get dressed soon before the plumber shows up. LOL |
Good Morning PIC's....
Petra....oh ah....a new water heater!!! :carrot: I am sooo envious. Dh and I were just talking about getting a new one also. I love to take relaxing candlelight baths, and although our shower is right beside our tub......the bath water is NEVER HOT!!!! We've got too many "to do's" on our list before we hit that I'm afraid. oh? yeah, good idea to get dressed BEFORE the plumber gets there!! haha  Great job on the workouts this week Petra. Lindsey.....:welcome3: Hi and welcome!! I may not be 'up' on all my lingo....*laughs to self*...I know a BLT and a OJ but what the heck is "bld and a lj" ?? :?: haha.... Post often, you don't want us to come looking for you!!! :D Curly.....A valentines challenge eh? Sounds good to me. Other friends of mine have thought of a St. Patricks day challenge, but Vday is a little closer. Well wonders upon wonders......I stepped on the scale and it showed a 2 lb loss!!! I tell ya...I stepped off that scale like it was a bed of hot coals!!! Didn't want to jinx it I guess. haha...SO I'LL TAKE IT!!! All of you were so right.....time, patience and perserverance!!!! THANKYOU for all your support!!!! I finished ALL my wrapping last night... but need a few sweets for the boys in their Christmas stocking. Not much mind you as they still have their halloween bag still full. Then I'm off to the gym. WOOHOOO |
:cheer: :) :cheer: :) Way to go Angel!!
|
Great job Angel! :cp: :carrot:
I'm trying to get up the motivation to do my WATP DVD. I am getting kind of bored with it. I should be getting Tae bo in the mail from netflix anyday now. |
Good job Angel. Just took a little time. My scale has been looking pretty nice this week too but tomorrow is my official weigh day.
My personal training session kicked my butt this morning!! My whole body was shaking by the time I got to my last set. Good thing you only do this work out once every 5-7 days!! The new hot water heater is nice. It is guaranteed for 10 years. Cost a nice chunk of change too. I've been writing all day but I'm making some big progress. I did the whole nutrition section today. I included all the big controversies, LOL! I'm working on the review of low glycemic diets now. I put the Mediterranean diet in this category. I'm not sure if it belongs here or in the "other" category. Anybody else got an opinion on this? Here's my food log for the day. It sort of went down hill as the day went on. Maybe I should have had some sardines with my dinner, LOL! B: Protein shake (Chocolate carb countdown milk, peanut butter, chocolate whey protein powder, and unsweetened baking cocoa), homemade low carb pumpkin muffin, cappucino with carb countdown milk. L: Chicken breast with 3/4 cup green beans. slice sugar free raspberry cheesecake. D: Paleobar Totals: 1593 Calories, 40 grams net carbs, 18 grams fiber, 134 grams of protein. Hey PICs,
It sounds like everyone has been really hanging in there and I think that to lose over the holidays is something to be PROUD of! :bravo: :wel3fc: Welcome Lindsey, you have found a good place. I agree that weight loss is easier when one is younger. At sixty plus it is tough, but not impossible, and I speak from experience!:^: I have been cleaning and decorating and today we drove to Nashville to pick up our DD who flew in from Albuquerque for Christmas. It is great to have her here.:carrot: I am still stuck, but at least I haven't gained and I should be able to really get going after Sunday . :tree: You all are great examples of what can be done!:goodvibes zoey |

thanks everyone! I feel great today. Tomorrow will test me. My Weekend Deli Lady lost her grandson in a car accident last nite, so won't be in for a while. I have to run the deli for the next 2 days....... including making all those yummy cookies... wish me luck ladies! lol. Angel~ you're right.... there's not much better motivation than seeing that scale go down! I'm still a little skeptical lol.... I just KNOW WW scale was off. But Imma take it none the less! Petra~ the flax bread is pretty good really. When I first started on my trek, I didn't have a piece of bread for like 4 weeks cuz I couldn't emotionally deal with the cals and the carbs. Then I found this. It's not huge bread, but it makes a good sandwich or toast. I bet you'd like it. :dizzy: It's made locally here, but I know it's also available (thru at least one of our distributors) as a frozen product nationally. Have fun on your days off! Curly~ I was gonna remove my Santa Slimdown yesterday too... Because it was just depressing me. I'm sooo glad I didn't. hmmm How 'bout the Sweetheart Slenderizer for Feb. (That came from My hunny). LOL. Val~ good luck wht the Tae Bo... I know the feeling about being bored with the WATP. But I have to force myself because I know I need the workout. I'd love to hear how it works for you! Zoey~ Hey there :) Sounds like your house is a great place to be. Good luck, cuz I know you'll do great thru the rest of the week. :cheer: B coffee /cream, 1 string cheese S gingerbread cookie L 1/2 RB sandwich w/1 slice cheddar. Scraped off the mayo. Sourdough bread, pear, 2x3 fruitcake thingy S Small bag baked potato chips (2 points) D Leftovers! Meatloaf, big salad, 2T ranch dressing, 1 hb egg Exercise~ 1 mile WATP :grouphug: |
"'Sweetheart Slenderizer for Feb."<<<< that is 2 cute!!!
yep i took my christmas ticker down also it just kinda suxs cuz i didnt lose any thing.. unless u count the 2x i lost and went back up 2 lbs.. :) i read somewhere yesterday that a Plateu can be a good thing. ??? grrr im not sure i am believing that one but it did kinda make sense the said its like your body is kinda at a turning point... and that eventually u will see weight loss again when it gets ready.. and the importnat thing is to keep going on plan... cuz your body is waiting to see if u fall off the plan or keep going.. so .. im not gonna obsess over the christmas challenge.. i did my best.. ate on plan i just have to have patience>> hmm do they sell that at walmart?? lol have a great day! we are off at 2pm and i will be heading to workout! |
I posted my Mediterranean question on the Mediterranean forum but so far no one has answered it. I have a feeling they would call it "other" so I may move it in my curriculum. I'm now almost done my review of low carb diets. I may have to do some editing because I think I got a bit too subjective on this stuff. Imagine that! LOL. Personally, I think my curriculum is pretty good. The other thing I'm going to need are online dieting resources so if any of you guys have some favorite sites you think I should include, let me know.
|

Their cd...Barenaked Christmas is great, if you don't have it....maybe santa will bring it for you!! tc
|
Merry Christmas Turtle! Great to see you again!
Thanks for the sites curly. I'll check them out. Yahoo has a bunch of sites I think. So does ivillage. I didn't include bodyforlife as one of the plans because I haven't read that book but I'll look at the site. I just counted, I reviewed 15 diet books!! There are also reviews of a few programs that aren't books like WW, Jenny Craig, Nutri/System, LAWL, although my knowledge of LAWL is pretty limited. |
Hey There Turtle!
Merry Chrismas Turtle, :tree: , and a:newyear: too!
Petra the nutridiary site is pretty good also.:) zoey |
Hi fellow PIC's. How is everyone today? just 2 more days!!!!
Petra, you were asking about sites......some of my bookmarked sites are: theweighwewere. (1-4 are .com) dwlz. sugarbustersforum. wwfamilyforum. and ***************.net I have another but so far haven't yet been to it.....Its the Hackers diet....(fourmilab.ch/hackdiet) Not sure if we're allowed to post actual website addresses but I think just listing them like that is okay. I didn't get to the gym today, I was on my way there and decided to call ahead and they were closing hearly!! bummer.....I'll post my food journal later, but food is OP. |
