ooo that is a great reading Tea! thanks for sharing it!!

its gonna be a great day today . cuz when i did my scale hop this morning i was down...:cheer:

Dee .. that is great that u passed on the taters!! one step at a time!! but ummm carrots are as high as the potatoes..
the peas=39 so peas are good :cheer: corn is moderate..

The glycemic index (GI) is a numerical system of measuring how much of a rise in circulating blood sugar a carbohydrate triggers—the higher the number, the greater the blood sugar response. So a low GI food will cause a small rise, while a high GI food will trigger a dramatic spike. GI is 70 or more is high, a GI of 56 to 69 inclusive is medium, and a GI of 55 or less is low.

just google glycemic index

HAHA if we like it ,,, it must be high sugar! Amazing isnt it? and it explains a lot.. (well for me anyways) seems like if its full of natural sugars its something i love...

Yikes think i am in trouble cuz i was eating turnips all weekend and i cant find them on the list but seems like all root veggies are high sugar..

is a parsnip a turnip???

Valerie: I GOT a flower !!!!! its been so long since i got one!!!

Petra: Protein "rocks"

petra65 11-16-2005 07:57 AM

Curly-I'm glad to see you are doing well with protein power. have you visited the board yet? They have all kinds of recipe there. Turnips are usually okay. I don't like them but a lot of people use them in recipes in place of potatoes. Parsnips are related to carrots and I think they are pretty high in sugar. I think Turnips and rutabagas are similar. Maybe someone can clarify.

I'm feeling really run down today. I think too many long days and too much stress catching up to me. This usually happens when I work the weekend. Just have a few more days to go and fortuanately next week is a short week.

jennie934 11-16-2005 09:03 AM

Hey Ladies,
Off to a good day today. I've been very strict with my food this week since not much time for excersise. I havn't located my scale since the move so I can't take a peek at what it says. I hope its OK. I've never really had a week with out much excersising, I kind of count on that to get these pounds off. Today I'll get some in and tomorow, I'll do kickboxing, so I'll probably get in 3 or 4 days but not my ussual. I'm thinking about geting some weights to do the Jillian circuits at home. Not sure what to do for the ones that use machines though...?hmmm...
Keep up the good work everyone, got to run.
Jennie

curlylocks 11-16-2005 10:23 AM

Examples of free foods are: (1) vegetables--asparagus, beans, cabbage, broccoli, cucumber, eggplant, lettuce, okra, mushroom, tomato, radish, spinach, turnip and pepper; (2) fruits--avocado, raspberry, strawberry; (3) eggs and dairy--cheese, milk, eggs, yogurt plain, and; (4) beverages--coffee, diet soda, tea, and water.

Good Morning Ladies,

Curly, I've checked out the glycimic index. Got a copy of The Glycimic Revolution, but it confuxed me so much. It was like everything in it was opposit of what I've been taught re eating diabetic..... I have to figure out that ONE plan to stick with, and use it- not try to incorporate all the different plans into one. Make sense? btw- congrats on the new flower!!

Petra~ I sure hope you're up and back to yourself soon! Long weekends suck lol.

Val~ COngrats to you too GF!!! **Huggggs**

TLB~ howdy backatchya my fellow WestCoaster... I sure hope you're having as nice weather as we are. It was close to 80 yesterday in SF!!!

AngelEyes~ Maybe kickbox ON the teacher for making you feel guilty?? lol... I'm only jk ya know. heheh... hmmmmmmm.

Jennie~ Yayyy for finally getting to move! It's gotta be nice having your own space again. Keep up the good work.

LisaWY~ How you feeling these days? I miss your posts.

Zoey?!?!?! You still having computer problems????

Mom & Turtle?? How are you doing too???

I think the only one I'm missing on my mental list of PICs is L2L and I have a seperate post for you......

Up Up and away Ladies. Everyone have a super day! :grouphug:

iwmonn 11-16-2005 01:12 PM

L2L~ Hey, I was surfing the net and found something to share with you. I thought of you immediately... I hope you are doing well. Be strong. As they say (whoever THEY are, This (or that) too shall pass
http://tinypic.com/fths7s.jpg
Dragonfly is a magical totem, signifying our ability to transform ourselves as we travel our path of self knowing toward enlightenment.
Its iridescence and shifting colors lift us into dreamtime, where we understand that "reality" is the illusion.
Our visions are channeled through our unconscious mind, ever connected to The Great Mystery that is Life.
Dragonfly reminds us to celebrate Spirit in all living beings.

This Nature Goddess is surrounded by lotus flowers, eternal symbol of the simultaneity of cause and effect, calla lilies,
the most feminine of flowers, and has vines and flowers growing in her hair.
The golden flowers signify the divinity of her true self, as she emerges from the waters of her unconscious mind.

It is said that Dragonfly was once Dragon, covered with beautiful, shimmering scales
and wielding great inner strength. It could change form at will, and light the darkness with the fire of its breath.
Coyote tricked mighty Dragon into changing form and believing itself to be tiny Dragonfly.

Because of pride, Dragon got caught in its own illusion; just as we, because of ego, are forever accepting our facade as our true selves.
Too often we believe our failures, our shortcomings, and our limitations are real.
We have forgotten that we too can change form at will, wield great inner powers, and can light our darkness with our faith, hope, and determination.

When Dragonfly enters our lives, it is time to dig deeper,
lift the illusion of suffering and believe in our limitless divinity.

(I posted it this way instead of just linking to the site I found it cuz I'm not sure about 3fc rules for linking... it's a print for sale.... I'm definately not taking credit for this work lol)

Valerie Joy 11-16-2005 02:31 PM

Hi PIC's!

It's COLD here in chicago. Windchill of 12!! I was so cold when I went to curves and the library this morning!

Curly the zone diet is based on the Low GI foods. We eat tons of broccoli. I put it in everything from salads to stir frys! I also love strawberries. They've been my saving grace on this diet. Sometimes I eat strawberries 3 times a day! I get a few bags of frozen ones every week. I love Okra. I wish I could get my hubby to eat it. I have a yummy looking zone recipie for chicken gumbo with okra. Congrats on the new flower! I know I'm going to get one next week :carrot:

Dee sounds like you had some yummy food but get back on plan!! Good luck meeting the inlaws. Personally my fatherinlaw giving me some grief about my weight got me to go to curves. I'm not seeing them this christmas but will see the the following christmas. Can you imagine if I'm down like a 100 pounds and surprise them! Wow that would be a great feeling!

That dragonfly picture is lovely!

I hope everyone is having a good day! Keep up the good work!

curlylocks 11-16-2005 02:49 PM

thats beautiful!

petra65 11-16-2005 07:32 PM

That dragonfly picture is awesome Dee. Thanks! Hope L2L is lurking out there.

I've been eating too many carbs lately myself. All legal foods mind you but going over my limit. Fortunately it isn't affecting my weight loss much so I"m not getting too stressed yet. I have a hard time feeling guilty for eating too much salad!

I'm enjoying my Slow Burn book so far. I'm on Chapter 4 I think. It's still going through the whole scientific background about why it works and why you only have to do it once a week. They haven't gotten to the actual work out yet. It has 2 versions-an at home version and an in the gym version. Since I belong to a gym, I figure I'll learn the in the gym version. I think it is a 13 exercise circuit.

Is it Friday yet?

Louie 11-16-2005 10:04 PM

Good evening ladies ! Just finished dinner and have to get back to my books, but thought I better check in !!

I have really been sticking to my program and am hoping for some good results next week. TOM has visited this week, but hopefully it won't impact the scale too much !

I have also been watching the biggest loser and was sad to see Dr. Jeff go home last night. Valerie, I agree that it is too bad that those that are seen as a threat are kicked off, but guess that is reality TV for ya. I am looking foward to seeing everyone come back for the finale.

Congrats to those of you who have lost in the past few days. We are doing great as a group. :cp:

Love this new smilie :turkey: Guess turkey day is coming up quickly for all of you.

Well I am off to try and conquer some more of my tax questions. Hope you all have a wonderful evening and I will talk to you soon.

petra65 11-17-2005 07:30 AM

I beat Curly here this morning. That is hard to believe.

I feel like I got run over by a truck this morning. I hope it is just the effect of no days off and not that I am coming down with something. Drinking extra coffee to try to drag myself through this day. Hope it goes quickly.

Have a good one everyone.

momX3 11-17-2005 01:18 PM

Morning All!! I am at work so I have to make this fast. I started doing Body for Life this morning. I am going to still do the South Beach diet. I am going to add more protein though. I did upper body weights this morning and I can tell you without a doubt I am going to be SORE tomorrow!! I decided I need to get out of my comfort zone a little that's why I decided on this plan. I will not however be doing the "cheat day" once a week.

I weighed myself yesterday and I am down a couple more pounds.

Petra - I see you officially made it to Onederland. :carrot: :bravo: :cb: :cp:  :encore:

I will try to post to everyone later today or tomorrow.

TTYL

curlylocks 11-17-2005 01:22 PM

Momx3: you might be interested in the portien powder from GNC .. each serving has @ 120 cals but it gives you 23 grams of protein... as i learned from Petra .. the whey Protein is much better for you than the soy protein... right now GNC has a buy one get one for half off deal

~zoey~ 11-17-2005 01:30 PM

Hello PIC Chicks,

My computer is working fine, but I have spent hours trying to figure out the best Rx insurance for us, doing quite a bit of research on line. We have some health insurance left from DHs work, plus medigap insurance and medicare so it gets complicated.

I also discovered that I had 11 years worth of pictures to get into albums. What is up with that!? I think that I wasn't paying attention. Anyway, I now have a lot of them organized.

Petra.....I hope that you are feeling better by now. On the exercise issue, I try to walk a couple of miles 5 or 6 days a week and that's it.

Curly.....Good luck on your job search.

Turtle....Where are you? You aren't having computer problems are you?

Greeting to all other PICs and congratulations on all the the pounds lost. We really are a bunch of losers. [I managed another 2 pounds].

You all have gotten me into watching The Biggest Loser too. I didn't know about it before.

zoey

momX3 11-17-2005 01:40 PM

Curly - Thanks!! I was just thinking this morning that I need to get some whey protein. I bought some of the Body for Life premade shakes and some of the bars to get me started but they are really expensive. I will find my local GNC.

curlylocks 11-17-2005 07:36 PM

hi guys..

curlylocks 11-17-2005 09:01 PM

Louie 11-17-2005 09:53 PM

Hi Ladies !

I am in a crabby mood today  not sure what's up but feel like I could scream at someone :tantrum:

Mom, good to see you. Good luck with the new program

Zoey, congratulations on your 2 lbs !!

Curly, yummy recipe. The way I feel I would probably eat the whole thing !!

Petra, hope the :coffee: got you through the day. I had 2 cups when I got home from work.. maybe it is just one of those days for the PIC gals :?:

I am so glad that it is Friday tomorrow... work has been so quiet <yawn>.. I hate trying to find work to do.. especially when I have a million other things that I could be doing. I think tomorrow I will take some school work with me, at least I will stay busy then.

Well gals, hope you have a good evening and TGIF !!

Valerie Joy 11-17-2005 10:10 PM

Hi Everyone!

Another cold day here in chicago. All my garden plants are officially dead. I'm not looking forward to a long winter.

I did a 2 mile WATP today and went for a back treatment (massage & adjustment) I talked to the doctor about getting an xray or MRI but she said to wait a while. They want to me come in more then once a week but I can't afford the co-pay on that. She said it may just be arthritis. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Curly your snack sounds really yummy! What are you going to call it?

Teri I'm sorry you're having a bad day! Hope that your evening is better!

Petra I hope you're not getting sick! Seems to be going around everywhere. I always feel like I'm coming down with something after I get a massage.

I hope everyone else is doing well! This group is doing such a great job! :carrot: :) :bravo:

iwmonn 11-17-2005 10:26 PM

Hi Everyone,

LOL, I was gonna hope you all had a good day, but after reading thru posts I'll just say :grouphug: to everyone.

Ya know, working at a 'health food store'- actually organics and natural foods- people automatically think I should be able to lose the weight easy, buying what we stock there.... but they just don't realize there are so many different ways to eat..... organic/natural absolutely doesn't mean lo cal, lo carb, lo fat.... matter of fact, lots of times it's the opposit. :dizzy: If I try to follow a diet for diabetics- I gain. If I try lo carb my cholestorel goes up, If I try lo cal my blood sugar goes up... grrrrrrr. I'm gonna find the right one. I think I'd like to try WW but can't afford their weekly fee. OK I'm done whining now. Just needed to get that off my chest. Thanks Girls.

Petra~ You are the early-bird this morning... hmmmm i guess worms are hi-protein? hehehe... ok ok  . I sure hope your day is much better. Get some rest on your day off.

Curly~ YUMMMMM! You are the dessert queen. This one sounds freakin' awesome. I'm kinda looking for something to take to a Christmas potluck... this sounds like it might work.... Dinner knives and duct tape. What place stays together without them!?! Hope that furnace stays fixed! I was in shorts and t-shirt the other day in SF lol...it was close to 80!!!!

Val~ I'd love to see you sneak up on the in-laws and they wouldn't even recognize you lmao..... I'm thinking of the pic you used to use for the WBS room (on Dan's(?) site) you were so cute! Keep up the good work GF! **Hugsssss**

Zoey~ WB! Sounds like you are another busy PIC. Glad to hear from you again. Congrats on the 2 more lbs! WooooHOOOO!

Mom~ Good luck with the new workout! Did you have a nice soak before you went to bed. I hope you're not tooo sore today.

TLB~ Just cuz. May you have a better day too.

petra65 11-18-2005 07:57 AM

Hi everyone. Just when I thought my week couldn't get any worse. I had the absolute day from **** yesterday. I think it was not pure coincidence. One of my collegues has a little too much on her plate right now, and I think she decided she was overloaded and my lap looked like a good place to unload. Unfortunately, she didn't ask my permission first so I'm still pretty angry about the whole thing. On Wednesday she had actually asked me for a favor, which I did because she was overloaded. There may be an explosion at our meeting on Monday because I think the office staff participated in this and even lied to me about what was going on. The office staff seems to be playing favorites and that has to stop. I didn't get home until 8:00 last night. I just took care of the dogs, had a couple spoonfuls of cottage cheese and went to bed. I was actually trying to rearrange my schedule to be helpful today but I'm not doing anyone any more favors right now until they start treating me a little better.

Enough of that rant. Congrats to everyone on their losses. I lost 2 more this week despite going over my carbs several days and not exercising very much. Doesn't exactly encourage me to change my ways, does it? Curly-thanks for the heads up on the sale at GNC. I may have to go check that out. I think I want to get some chocolate protein powder and try making some protein bars. I have a bunch of recipes for protein shakes (actually they are Dana Carpender's recipes). They are yummy. I drink them all the time. I do have a recipe for a fake graham cracker crust. I'll look it up for you when I get time Curly.

Dee-check out Four Corners, honestly. It is low carb, limited saturated fat. Your cholesterol should not go up. It was pretty much designed for people like you. Right Curly? Just don't get too compulsive about following the numbers exactly.

jennie934 11-18-2005 09:19 AM

Hey Ladies,
busy week. I'm so glad its friday. Yesterday I had to substitute teach kickboxing. I havn't had much time to work out this week because I've been unpacking and moving and all that so this was pretty much my first work out of the week. I'm so sore. I was nervous but it went OK.
I am really getting anxious becuase I dont' have a scale at home(its packed in a box that has yet to be unearthed). I have no idea how I"m doing. I'm staying on my foods list but since I havn't been doing my ussual excersise, it could be anything.

I hope every one has a good friday.
Jennie

angel-eyes 11-18-2005 12:41 PM

Hey my fellow PIC chicks!!!

All I can say is TGIF!!! What a week. Dh has been away all week and every night we've had something to do with the boys. Glad to see this week done and put to bed!! LOL....Since he was away for my bday on Wednesday, we are planning all the festivities for Saturday. My youngest son (now a brand spanking new Wolf in cub scouts) has hinted that he now knows how to cook scrambled eggs. hmmm, what are the chances of breakfast in bed? Dinner out is my choice, so I decided on seafood. Either way....broiled or grilled, I think it will be a good healthy choice. My MIL shipped me the new book by Dianna Galbadon.... :carrot: WOOHOO :carrot: ....can't wait, this is the latest in her series about my Scottish hero, Jamie. ** sigh** Love a man with an accent. Glad to read about some losers here, GOOD JOB!!! and I mean that in a good way!!! Have a great day,

ps....best bday gift was someone at the gym telling me how great I look and wanted to know how much I had lost!! woohoo...makes those killer circuit workouts all the worthwhile. :cloud9:

petra65 11-18-2005 08:25 PM

You guys won't believe this. I get to work today, and before I even get into the hospital, my pager goes off. Call the consult office, right away. One of the docs is the ER with chest pain and he was supposed to be on for this weekend! Can you believe this! Just when I said I wasn't going to help out anymore. I ended having to cancel all my cancer patients for the day to do consults. Just got home at 7:30. I think I need to find a new job. Other people are covering for the rest of the weekend, thank goodness. I may not get out of bed all day tomorrow.

Louie 11-18-2005 09:15 PM

:balloons: :gift: :hb: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGEL-EYES :hb: :gift: :balloons:

Sorry that we missed your birthday :o

My day was better today and I didn't feel the need to yell at anyone :drill:

I have school all weekend (Tax on Saturday and Human Resources on Sunday) so I think I will just take life easy tonight. DH and I just got back from picking up a few groceries, so I am going to have sushi for dinner :sumo:

Curly - love all your pictures. What program do you use to make the avatars :comp:

Petra - I hope you have a relaxing weekend, you certainly deserve it

Jennie - well done on instructing the kickboxing class, I am sure you did great :goodvibes Are you still going to WW, or are you doing things on your own these days ?

Dee - thanks for the . It helps to know that I can come on here and rant and rave and that you will all listen and support :flow2:

Okay, where are all those MIA PICs :mag: come back we miss you all !!

Well I am off to find something to do beside studying :?: Have a great evening and a restful Saturday.

iwmonn 11-18-2005 11:01 PM

Hey PIC's,

Curley~ Great photos. I especially love the animals. Chai is sweet looking and the kitties- awwwwww such cuties! Thanks for sharing.

Petra~ Wow, sounds like a rough week. Hey, they were looking for a new Doc for the clinic here. Think ya could handle living on the coast in N. Cali? hehehe. Thanks for the re-suggestion on the Four Corners... I think it's been long enuf since the new car purchase that I can ask to splurge on the cost of the book. I need some kind of guidance. As seems more and more obvious to me, I can't work it my own way. I did run into my nutritionist today and she always has a pat on the back for me to make me feel better. I wish I could afford weekley sessions with her. She's awesome.

Val~ You really seem to like the WATP videos. They are great huh... I can only do the one mile walk so far.... the 2 mile starts to just kill my hips :(... but it makes me sweat so much better lol... *hugs* to my Sister In Sweat lol.

Jennie~ A sub kickbox teacher?? How cool!!!! Don't stress over that scale GF, just keep doing the best you can do. :D

AngelEyes~ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY...... and manyyy moorrrrrre http://tinyurl.com/czkng :twirly: I hope all your birthday wishes come true :)

TEB~ NP with listening to rants... sheesh I think we all need to just scream at the top of our lungs sometimes http://tinyurl.com/e2plr and having someone listen makes it feel a lot louder (and a lot more effective)lol... Glad to hear your day was better. I hope your evening was just as nice.

So happy Saturday to everyone! Here's to us all having a good day. Relax if ya can, and if not, then just stop for a sec every once in a while and take a deep breath. Oohhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm.

Valerie Joy 11-19-2005 12:23 AM

Happy Weekend everyone! :carrot:

Angel eyes happy birthday! :balloons:
Curly great pics! I especially love the kitty ones!

Dee I do love the WATP but my heel has been hurting more since I started doing it. I probably need some orthopedic shoes or something. I must be getting old.

Petra congrats on your loss! :cp:

We watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight. It was funny! I love Johnny Deep! Has anyone seen the Corpse Bride?

petra65 11-19-2005 07:29 AM

Happy Saturday

Good morning everyone. As you can see, I did get out of bed. I had to feed the boys.

Happy Belated Birthday Angel. Hope you had a good time, whatever you did.

Great pictures Curly. I especially like the one of the kitty drinking out of the glass.

Dee-Here's my plug for Four Corners again. It's low carb but pretty livable (50 grams a day). They actually mention in the book that they know they are being overly conservative on the saturated fat issue but they know a few people have problems with their cholesterol on low carb so that is why they did it. (50% of fat from monounsaturated sources), 25 grams of fiber every day so you definately will be eating plenty of veggies and even some fruit and won't get constipated. They also recommend 1 cup of cultured milk products daily (yogurt, buttermilk or kefir) just because they have such great nutritional benefits. I actually try to do this anyway. The book is written so someone with a high school education could understand it and at the end of every chapter they have a special page for people with diabetes. You could drive yourself crazy trying to follow the 50% monounsaturated fat thing exactly, but as long as you try to make good fat choices whenever possible I think you would do fine.

Val-keep up the good work on your exercise and diet. You are making great progress.

Teri-all work and now play makes everyone a dull person. Make sure you find some time for yourself in there. (look whose giving that advice :dizzy: )

Jennie-enjoy the new house. Maybe it is a blessing to not be able to find the scale. Sometimes I wish I couldn't find mine for a few days.

Mom-good luck with your Body for LIfe stuff. Tell us how it goes.

And here is your fake graham cracker crust recipe, courtesy of Dana Carpender, the goddess of low carb cooking.

1 1/4 cup almonds
2 tbsp wheat germ
2 tbsp wheat bran
3 tbsp splenda
1 pinch salt
6 tbsp butter, melted

Preheat oven to 325.

Put your almonds in your food processor and run it until they are ground to the texture of corn meal. Add the wheat germ, wheat bran, splenda, and salt and pulse to combine. Now, turn on the processor and pour the melted butter through the tube, running the processor until everything is well combined. You may need to stop the processor and run a knife around the edge to make sure all the dry ingredients come in contact with the butter.

Turn this mixture into an 8" springform pan you've sprayed with nonstick spray. Press firmly into place. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until just golden around the edges. Cool completely before filling.

12 servings, each with 144 calories, 14 g fat, 3 g protein, 4 g carb, 2 g fiber.

petra65 11-19-2005 09:29 AM

I'm trying out a low carb pecan pie recipe today. I got it off of the protein power board. I love pecan pie and it is one of my holiday favorites. It is my first experiment baking with sugar alcohols. I'm a little nervous about how it is going to turn out. Obviously, you can only eat this in small quantities or you will be sorry. It is also loaded with fat, so those of you who watch your fat consumption won't be interested in this recipe if it turns out well.

momX3 11-19-2005 10:13 AM

Sorry I keep disappearing on you guys but trying to plan and coordinate everything to do Body for Life seems to be taking alot of time. I can't wait until I get settled into it a little more. I started it on Thursday morning. I have to get up at 5:30 because he wants you to get your exercise in before you eat and the baby gets up at 6:30 usually. Anyways it's going good so far and I was'nt nearly as sore as I thought I was going to be. :carrot: Today I did my lower half so we will see tomorrow how sore I will be there.

Petra - I LOVE pecan pie!! I don't know if I could use your recipe on South Beach though. Congratulations on 2 more pounds. :cp:

Valerie - I have not watched Charlie yet because everyone keeps saying it was'nt any good. Maybe I will try it. I have to take ds to see Corpse Bride. He has the Nightmare Before Christmas on DVD and watches it almost everyday. How's your back feeling?

iwmonn - I did'nt know you worked at a natural food store. I hope you can find something that works for you.

TLB - I'm glad you had a better day yesterday. :D

Angel - I'm sorry I missed your Birthday. I hope you had a GREAT one!! :gift:
I am a huge Diana Gabaldan fan. I adore:love: Jamie and wish my dh was more like him! My mom has the new book and when she is done with it I will borrow it from her.

Jennie - teach kickboxing??

Curly - Those are some great pictures!! I love the water scenes. Sorry to hear about your furnace but glad you know your way around a dinnerknife ;) . It's been in the 70's here.

TTYL

petra65 11-19-2005 12:14 PM

Pecan pie turned out good. I give it an A-. It has a stick and a half of butter in it, 6 eggs, and 2 cups of pecans. It also has some "specialty" low carb ingredients that most people don't have around the house. I'll post it if people want it.

iwmonn 11-19-2005 09:50 PM

thanks for the info again Petra... If I hear it enough it really helps lol... ok so I was checking out the whey protein at work today. I've heard enough to know soy is not the way to go... but what about Rice Protein? I don't know enough about the way the ingredients work with each other, but the numbers on the rice looked better??? cals, carbs, etc... :dizzy: See here I go off to add another program that I don't know anything about to my mix of the low cal, low fat, low carb, low everything and high whatever's leftover kinda diet I'm working now.(unsuccesfully I may add) hehehe...

Curly~ OK Lady.. i tried the new dessert and it is freakin' wonderful.. the changes I did because of lack of items were- I didn't use any coolwhip or chocolate powder at all... just the yogurt, pudding and a full block of nufatchel crm cheese. I also added a little splenda, but I think it was actually better before I added it. Can't wait to try it with the 'crust' from petra. I gave some to my boss and she liked it. Im seriously going to take it to the Christmas Potluck.

Mom~ keep up the good work with your new program!

Val~ getting old!?!?! Bite your tongue Young Lady. hehehe... if you're getting old, what's that make me??? Eeeekkkk never mind don't answer that.. huggggssssssss to ya!

Dee-the only thing I've seen people use rice protein for is to cook/bake with. I don't think it tastes good enough to use as a regular food item but you can ask around. On the protein power board, the people who can't tolerate the whey protein for some reason seem to go to egg white protein, not rice. Some people are not big on using these powders anyway because they aren't "real" food. They certainly aren't a requirement.

Dee-I posted a question on the protein power board about rice protein. I'll let you know if anyone has any experience with it. Someone was asking about eggwhites already--they put it in their coffee. Who would have thought of that?

I am up early this morning.. got my turkey in the oven... couldnt pass it up at 25 cents per lb.. lmao dont know what i will do with a 12 lb turkey.. but I guess I can freeze the some of the meat

then i started thinking maybe it wasnt such a bargain.. I have a gas stove and propane is 3.99 a gallon here.. lol will cost me @ 10 worth of propane to cook my cheapie turkey!

oh well.. i am sure chai will help me eat it! He is going thru those itchy scratchies again so i had to bathe him in medicated shampoo last night & find creative ways to hide the benedryl so he doesnt spit it out...

Good Morning Chicks ~ just having some breakfast before I head off to school, so thought I would check in.

Looks like it was a quiet day yesterday, hope everyone was enjoying their Saturday.

Tax class wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but by 3:00 in the afternoon I quickly lost interest. Today is Human Resources, so we will see how that goes.

At least our instructor yesterday was kind enough not to bring donuts !!

Have a wonderful Sunday and TTYS :D

Hi PIC'S!!!

Thanks for all the bday wishes!!! I had an absolutely fabulous day. Let me gloat a little......ds (new wolf cub scout) cooked a divine plate of scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast. He was so proud of himself. Then after a quick coffee, we had to go and collect the donated canned food for the boy scout drive. We were gone all morning and didn't get home until 2 pm. The food pantry at the shelter was over flowing with donations that they were piling them up in the hallways!!! It does you good to know that people are so generous at this time of year!!! Dinner was fantastic. We went to this seafood place that dh surfed the city for and it didn't let us down. I had grilled New England scallops with a corn/salsa and asperagus. Nice to know that I was still OP and wasn't even tempted by the cheese biscuits that were continuously floating around our table. Dessert was a few forkfulls of a chocolate liquered (sp?) mouse cake that dh and I shared. I'm not keen on liquers, so I wasn;'t tempted past a few mouthfuls. YIPPIE!!!! I left feeling fully in control and was pleasantly full. (not my usual "I have" to have everything feeling!!) Oh....and the best news.....some little birdies were definitely listening because I got my heart rate monitor I was asking for!!! Don't know how to program it yet....but I will by tommorow!!! LOL

Hey everyone,
Guess what??? I finally did it, I am officially in onederland. I lost 3.4 today so that buts me at 198. whoo hoo. I was so stressed this week about not having a scale to peak at and see but maybe that is a good thing. Must keep it up for the holidays.
Got to get back to unpacking, good to see everyone checking in.
Jennie
