That's OK Marchmellow... you DO help, very much! And yes, I did consider that. I often feel my relationship with food is not quite normal, like I love it to the point of near obsession!!I'll have to have a think about this sort of thing.

I know, MissSMcM, for a Catholic, I'm missing a guilt complex, haha! Serious for real, before my diet I got takeaways like, 3 times a week, sometimes more, and bigger usually than that. So to me if feels like I'm doing well! I will have to see though my weight loss for this week, see if I got away with it or not! :-0

For some reason I feel better about planned blowouts. I don't know, it is more controlled and less chance of guilt. I think if guilt stops me enjoying it, no point in eating it. But as I say, scales will tell, to see if I get away with it!

Wow it's early. No idea why I am up at this time on a Saturday!

Weighed myself first thing and nearly at 1.5 stone lost now, feeling so positive about things. Plenty more to go but I never thought I'd lose weight in my life

Hope you all have a fun Saturday. I'm spending the day with family, coffee and a catch up etc.

And yep, gonna see my little 2 year old niece today. Definitely the best way to spend a Saturday

Shame the weather isn't up to much however. Typical bank holiday weather or what?!

I'm awake too, 1987! And congrats!! I lost another 1lb this morning, so I'm in a cheerful mood, hehe

What's everyone up to today? I've got a fitness instructor appointment at the gym I just joined (gulp!) and then a nice swim, bike home, and then we're going out to the park to feed some squirrels and have a picnic. Hope it doesn't rain!!

Jose, there's an old saying, that helped me when I used to overeat all the time - eat to live, don't live to eat. It just reminds you that food is simply fuel that enables you to do all the other amazing things in life. Just imagine what you could achieve if you shiifted that focus from food to something really productive, like fitness or voluntary work or making art, or starting a new college course. Just imagine the possibilities!

I know... this is a MASSIVE adjeustment for me. I need to overcome it, while i feel I am doing good things in my life, I hate thinking about the time, energy and money I have wasted on (over)eating over the years

Awwww, that sounds lovely 1987... I have nieces too, I adore spending time with them when I can. I am helping at a local festival, with the children's craft area. I am so happy for this, I love working with children, they are so sweet! Also, I love doing crafts of course. It is not that warm, but at least dry here. I hope it stays that way! Then I am going to a party at a local cafe, which sounds very lovely. The only thing is there is the promise of lots of CAKE, oh Laawd, help meee!! I am trying to decide whether I can allow myself a piece or if that will lead to several more, hahaha!!

Oh wow, nice one Marchmellow, you will do fine. I think gym people are often much nicer than you expect, I know this because my sister works in one. The next brave step on your journey... well done you!! xxxx

Hehe the thing with nieces/nephews is that you can have all the fun and then give them to the parents when it's time for a nappy change or whatever

Aw sounds like you have a lovely day planned, hope you have a fun time and the kids are well behaved!

URRRRGH!! 1lb back on... I don't quite know what to say. I've been good, and have started my exercise again... I feel really bloated this morning and nothing is helping... it's definetly not TOM coz that was last week... but as I said before I hate WI's when its here coz it doesn't seem like a true reading. I did however double check my carbs over the last few days, and they have been a little high, not ott, but, maybe thats had an effect... URRRRRGH!!

Lozz, if you've started exercising this week, bear in mind the 1lb gain may be muscle mass gained from exercise. That usually happens with me when I start exercising after a while of being sedentary. Also, are you drinking enough water? If you have a large amount of sodium in your diet (very easy to slip under the radar, that one) you may be retaining water. My advice to you - get about 6 glasses/1.5 litres of water daily (or more if you can, haha) and keep up your exercise. I bet you'll drop that 1lb and a few of its friends at your next weigh in.

Also! Carbs are fine, just remember to eat wholegrains and cut out the white carbs.

Thanks hun. You're probably right with the muscle weight, but now that I look at my ankles... Hmmm. a little swollen... I try to get thro 2 litres a day, but its very hit and miss. On the plus side I got to 46 mins on the Wii today so feeling good about that... I'll at an hour before I know it. Then when I hit my first mini goal, I'll have a look for that zumber thing for the wii.

What other games would you guys suggest?

Hi all!

Marchmallow - good luck at the gym! Although I joined mine back in January and go about 5/6 times a week, I only do the classes because when I first started I had a fear of the actual gym part! I hope having your personal training session will be really helpful in setting you up with a plan, something that I could do with!

Joselo - have a great time at the craft thing. I so know that feeling of can I really just have one piece of cake? And for along time, I couldn't. My name on here has a lot to do with me battling to take control with my binging, and although I'm getting better, I still have to be very very strict and plan, plan, plan AND spend as little time alone around food as possible and then, I usually make better decisions. But boy, it's not easy!

I've also been there, when I've overeaten, but tried to kid myself it's OK, and the scales will be OK, becuase I really want to lose weight, so I will. It doesn't work! No matter how much you want it, it won't happen if we keep binging/overeating. MEH! Good luck at improving your relationship with food, it's a damn long road, but with determination and honesty, you (and I!) will hopefully get there in the end!

1987 - well done on your continued loss, have a lovely family day

Lozz - I know it's easier said than done, but please please please don't get disheartened! If you keep on plugging away, making good decisions, the scales WILL move in teh right direction, and keep on moving that way. If there's one thing my journey so far has taught me, it's that I'll never fully understand weightloss or how my body works. But I know, if I keep at it, the numbers eventually go down, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly and sometimes they get stuck..... sigh! You're doing all the right things tracking what you're eating and being very aware of how things may affect you, so you're sure to succeed in the long run!

Nothing fun on for me this weekend, BOO! Got a big exam on Weds, so I'm revising for that and working on an assignment that's in next weekend. I was also up this morning, had a 9am Pump class, and boy was it hard today! Got spinning tomorrow lunch and hoping to go for a jog as well. Highlight of my weekend is The Voice final tonight ha ha!

As for weight, saw a lovely number this AM, but I'll record my Sunday number, which will no doubt be higher thanks to the wine and M&S dine in I'm treating myself to for tea, can't wait ha ha!

4 weeks today I start my summer job, so I want to use the next four weeks to really go for this. BRING IT ON!!

Think slim team, think slim!

Lozz- starting an exercise regime will lead to water retension because of this (from Livestrong):
A new exercise program changes the chemical makeup of your muscles as an adaptive response to increased activity. The changes that take place in your muscles after exercise prepare them for more of the same by storing additional fuel for energy. Muscles replenish glycogen stores after a workout, and water retention is a natural side effect of this process.
Factors
Glycogen is hydrophilic, which means that it attracts water, says personal trainer William Sukala. For every gram of glycogen you store, 2.7 g of water is also retained in the muscle. This happens not only as a result of new exercise programs but also takes place after workouts in an established exercise regimen. Glycogen stores are needed to fuel muscles during physical activity. When exercise depletes glycogen stores, more carbohydrates get converted to glycogen, and water retention results.
Temporary Effects
Although replenished glycogen stores continue to attract water after exercise even in established routines, the process may be more noticeable in a new exercise program. You may see temporary weight gain, for example.

Thanks guys for your re-assurance I did feel pretty low about it this morning , but like you said, if I keep plugging away at it, the gain should only be temp and it is only 1lb. I don't workout on sundays, not even walk the dog, unless im feeling bloated, then I gentle walk round the field work wonders for me.

I just hope that now I know more or less what my body is up to, i can plan accordingly and be ready for it. (I'm a bit of a control freak, and I HATE anything that I can't physically control). That in itself is a long and not too happy story that I shan't bore you with.

I'm chilling out now, after doing a spot of housework, watching the tennis (I don't agree with horse racing, sorry your majesty lol) and just pottering about online... On my phone because me net book is doing my nut in!! I swear as soon as I get a job, a new computer or maybe get it refurbished is in order! Bloody tech!! Lol

Good luck everyone who's yet to WI, trying to send positive vibes
