.... 429cals a bar?! What sort are they?! I love the special k bars especially the mint choc ones and only like 90 odd cals a bar. But they've gone up in price lol so I'm sticking to normal cereal. Like my weetabix and shredded wheat. I would say either go with that or get some better bars, have that with a coffee or whatever drink, and some fruit for brekkie. The fruit will give you the sugar kick i know alot of us need in the morning lol and the fibre will do you some good too... If ya know what i mean
Just think of the un-natural sugar your current bars have, that sugar is what I call empty cals. They taste great, give you a sugar boost, but you'll crash before lunch and eat more, therefore more cals spent on more sugar, and so it goes on.
Like i said last night, try and get mfp on your pod and use it when you're shopping. It'll help no end!
I forget the name, they are really nice, basically because they are made of biscuit, chocolate and raisins... hmmmm. I'll switch to Special K. the thing is I am not over keen on cereal generally.
My Ipod doesn't have internet inside it, only can connect to wifi. Will that work?
xxx
WI FI is fine, then you can get used to using it at home or where ever the WiFi is. I wasn't huge on cereal or breakfast at all for that matter for years! But now... As sad as it sounds its probably my favourite meal of the day its changing habbits and getting into a routine. Once youve found that routine it'll be so much easier
That's a scary (and tasty) sounding cereal bar, Jose!
There are a lot of different types of cereal bar to try out, and most of them aren't going to have such a scary effect on your calorie count. I particularly like ones with yoghurt on, because it looks like white chocolate, and fools me until it's actually in my mouth. Do you have any cheap supermarkets, as opposed to big name ones, near you? We've a Fulton's and a Heron just round the corner, and it's a bit random what cereal bars they've actually got in stock from one week to the next, but they're always cheap, and it keeps things interesting. Just remember to check the calories before buying!
One thing to remember about the really nice 420-cal ones - they might be really nice in your mouth, but they're a bit less pleasant when you're carrying them on your stomach or your bum or wherever. Remembering that doesn't always stop the temptation, but it often helps.
Hectic here, tomorrow is my last revision day, eeekkkkk! Need to fit a run in though at some point, and keep on plan with the food........
Jose I love cereal bars too, but have them more as a treat than a healthy snack. If you like the biscut ones try the hob nob ones, they're on offer at the moment in Morrisons, and although not as healthy as the spec k/alpen light/many others they're no where near as bad as the one's you're having at the mo, and are really yummy!
I'm also another one in the non breakfast eating reformers club. Now I mainly switch on a three day cycle between poached eggs or baked beans on toast, or cereal (aldi's own spec k and museli mixed to make it a bit more interesting!) if I'm in a real rush or something I'll grab some yoghurt and a cereal bar....
Going to 'treat' myself to spinach curry for tea tomorrow, my fav!
On the TOM thing, I seem to be lucky, that it doesn't stop me losing weight, as long as I stick to plan and don't give into the TOM food urges! I think my daily water intake really helps regulate the bloating, so I don't suffer too badly with water retention, which I presume the 'increase' is....
If getting plenty of liquid in helps prevent those monthly fluctuations, then that could be what's going on with me. I recently found out that a litre of water weighs a kilo, and did a spot of arithmetic, and had a look at the pint-and-a-half mug I take my tea in... A lot of my fluctuations can be put down to the fact that I've just had an enormous cuppa (a pound a pint!), but at least I'm pretty sure my body doesn't feel much need to hang on to water. It gets enough going through it every day and then some.
Jose, on the natural yoghurt and fruits front, do you have a blender? My dad got me one last month and I've been throwing the odd thing in there. Today I tried a bit of natural yoghurt with some strawberries and blueberries. Really tasty, but pretty tart - if you like natural yoghurt that should be okay though. And it's about smoothie consistency, so pretty filling. Very low on calories too.
Soon it will be morning weigh time, and I'm going to regret what I've drunk tonight. Even though I had a stupidly low-cal day to leave room for it. At least I can try to remember that it's been fun though, I think it's been worth it. Remind me of this when I'm feeling guilty as **** tomorrow!
If you want an amazing smoothie that's like an ice cream milkshake that you'd get from McDonald's or a milkshake bar, try this. It's amazing, and about 200 calories for a big cup. Chop up a ripe banana (remove peel first ;D), put it in the freezer in a sandwich bag and freeze it for a few hours. Then when it's frozen, put the banana in the blender with a big spoonful of peanut butter and add about 100ml of milk (I use almond milk). Blend it up and serve! It's so gorgeous, and hugely healthier for you than a real milkshake.
On a side note, does 3FC automatically censor the word ****? h e l l ? Jesus. You can tell it's American, hehe.
Both those options sound delicious!! I don't have a blender but adding berries sounds lovely anyways.
I always thought those milkshake bars look so yummy but they are just SOOO expensive for what is really just a drink. This sounds like a great option to save money and calories!!
By the way, does anyone like Grapenuts? I adore them. I assume they are healthy, but I shall go check. They are delightful mixed with yoghurt. On their own they are good too, but they are so HARD they take a whole lot of chewing... this has to be a good thing, weight loss wise, I guess though
Oh wow, I got that too, I think it was the word **** (as in the opposite of Heaven, if this gets sensored!)
My breakfast these days usually centres around toast. It's the only time I let myself eat bread, because too many sandwiches is part of why I got so big in the first place. A small loaf of Warburton's wholemeal is only 58 calories a slice, and I tend to have tinned mackerel on it - 267 calories for the tin and that lasts me five days, so about 54 for that. I tend to have a yoghurt or a bit of fruit with it too - the yoghurts I have in at the moment are called "Nom", and with a name like that how can I possibly resist?
I've just sent the boyfriend out for bananas, so I'll freeze one of them and give the peanut butter and banana idea a try. It does sound delicious.
Yesterday's minimal food / too much beer plan seems to have worked well according to the scales - 2.4lbs lower than yesterday. But I think it's because I don't have much food sitting in my digestive tract right now. Averaging two pounds a day lost during this TOM, I think my body's just weird.
Too much beer, though, that was interesting. I used to drink a lot, I'd go out with my dad twice a week and put away six or seven double rum and cokes each time. Figured that really wasn't going to help with losing weight, plus our local changed hands and the new manager was a total pillock and we stopped going in there, so since I started in February I've cut back a lot - out only once every two or three weeks, and usually only one or two pints. Last night my aunt and uncle were in town, so I went out with them and my dad, and it was six or seven pints again. Hangovers were never fun before, but now that I'm treating my body better and feeling so much better, the way I felt this morning was so bad, I finally understand that alcohol really is a poison. I'll spare you the details, but it was grim. It's going to be a long time before I drink that much in an evening again!
Hi guys, hope you all had fun Jubilee weekends. 4 days over already eh, time flies!
I ate pretty poorly this weekend, combination of a family BBQ and a friend's wedding. Oh well, these things happen! Roll on being back at work as I eat so much better on those days. The structure and routine really helps me.
I went shopping today and for the first time in my life, I got a MEDIUM. Admittedly the medium in H&M is pretty generous at the equivalent of a 14 - 16, but still - the labels on my 2 new dresses don't say large. Super happy with that!
