  • Weigh Day

Not brilliant week due to back and knee [ain I was not able to exercise as I would do normally. Food not brilliant either trips to the hospital with DH due to a bad kidney infection and the pills causing problems meant the meal plan went out the window.

So I was expecting to either be the same or a gain so what a great surprise when I found I am 1 pound down I am pleased at least it is a loss and next week I will be back to what is normal, well normal for me.
  • Aw Paula sorry to hear about the hospital trips and knee pain . Fantastic on the weight loss though!

Well I'm weighing in early at 142.0 today which is better but still dissapointing.. only lost 1.6lbs so far during this challenge! But anyway now I have time and space (and a lack of distractions) so that I can concentrate on being on plan for the next 8 days!
  • Lozz, hope the new batteries helped with your loss but, if not don't get disheartened, I've learnt that weightloss is a crazy thing, and certainly not a linear process or even a rational one. Stick at it doing th eright things, and results will happen, the scale will change, when it's good and ready!

Milly, I love this place too, wouldn't be doing this without it! The avator's cool ey? I put it there when I still couldn't imagine ever getting into exercise to try and help me keep motivated, it seems to have worked!

Paula - well done on the loss especially as you've been having a tough week, that's great. I hope your hubby is ok and knee gets better soon!

PB - I imagine the slow loss is frustrating but at your BMI expected? I hope your 8 days of hardcore 'on-planness' helps though!

Well, I wobbled last night. Back on it today, doing OK. TOM on the way, so not expecting much on teh scale. Wore a size 12 top today for the first time as an adult I reckon, that was nice When I'm fitting in size 12 pants I'll be bouncing!!!!!!!!!

    Happy weekend everyone
  • Hiya, hope no one minds me joining in, I could really do with some weight loss companians.

I'm going to the doctors next week to go on the pill to stop af for maybe a year to see if that helps me lose weight. What I've found is I can diet great for 2 weeks, then the week before I'm due I go mad and eat anything and everything then the week of af I am depressed about the week before and think what the heck I may as well eat ... I also have cervical cysts that cause problems with exercising, so I am really hoping the pill is going to help even though I dont like taking pills and havnt been on it for maybe 11 years ... this is the plan anyway haha!

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow xx
  • Hi Pentangle so sorry to hear you have cervical cysts they sound painful I hope you get this sorted out soon. B.B
  • Well today would be my normal WI, but I refuse to as the board is saying I've put on ANOTHER pound!!! **** NO!! I haven't been able to go to the loo properly for a few days... (not that you really wanted to know that lol) and i'm in a bit of pain with it (backaaaache).

I'm trying to think of reasons why the board says I havent lost.... but the loo thing is the only thing i can think of... I'm gonna leave it until tomorrow or maybe even monday for WI, I just refuse to believe I've actually gained 5lbs in less than 4 days!!
  • I've also just decided to invest in a set of bathroom scales. These ones I think http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/8303572.htm that is unless someone can suggest another set for a similar price.

Board has been really tempermental this morning so, I'll use the reading it gave me this morning which was 312lbs... So according to that I'm only 2lbs down on my starting weight.... Grrrrrr....

Getting the real scales on wednesday and will weigh again then...
  • LozzCowell the wii fit weight board is really inaccurate.. the longer we had ours the worse it got.. I love the wii fit but the weighing mechanism is screwed up.. I could get on it three of 4 times in a day and see something like a 10lbs difference at times which clearly isn't happening. It's a shame cos it started off weighing pretty consistently but just got ridiculous. It also weighs really erratically if the batteries are going... it's also important that weighing is done on a hard floor (or on carpet with special "carpet feet" you can get with some scales) and this goes for the wii fit too.. but very few people have a carpet free space infront of a TV so it just won't weigh right.
Definitely a good investment to buy the bathroom scales and I recommend trying to at the very least massively reduce how much you're weighing yourself on the wii fit and try not to take it personally.
Also have you thought about just weighing yourself once a week? It's so easy to get discouraged with daily weighings cos it's totally normal for your body to change in weight by 2-3lbs every day just due to water shifts in your body and the rate of your digestion. Daily weighing only tends to breed obsession and be disheartening.. I say this as someone who really has to fight not to weigh myself several times a day tbh... but I've got it down to once a day and I only allow myself to really record and write down and take seriously my once a week weight... but if you can stop daily weighing before you get to that point it'd be much better!
  • Great advice from PB re weighing in Lozz.

Is there a reason you picked mechanical scales over electronic ones? I find them quite difficult to get accurate readings off, and like the regularity of the electronic ones telling me how I've gone down even to the 1/4lb, which you don't get off mechanical ones.

I have these ones http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8321846/c_1/1|category_root|Home+and+furniture|14417894/c_2/2|14417894|Bathroom|14418043/c_3/3|cat_14418043|Bathroom+scales|14418073.htm and am really happy with them, and noticed they're on sale at the mo too! (I don't bother with all the otehr features they have, so can't comment on the body analysis tools) but as scales they've been great!

At the end of the day though, go with mechanical if that's your preference!

Aww thanks very much. I don't have cervical cysts though lol they are on my ovaries doh! Last time I had them scanned one was heamouriging so they aren't doing anything for them.

Re the wii fit board I wouldnt take that as red at all, mine can be a stone heavier than 2 sets of other scales. And depending where you moved it could add another half stone on on top! I do love the hulla hooping on it though!
I want to buy the just dance next for it
  • Brilliant advice girls thank you so much!!

PB - the board is always on flat laminate floor, so carpet isn't a problem... It's just reeeeally tempermental... I'm just going to use it for my yoga and other bits from now on and register my WI from today on it. That way I'm also not tempted to weigh myself again.

TC - those scales look great, why did i miss them?! lol Do you find they're accurate most of the time?

My name is Laura, and I promise not to weigh myself again until I get my new scales.
  • Lozz, I find them accurate, but that doesn't mean I always like what they say....! But yes, if I stand on them once, and then again a couple of minutes later they read the same. They also drop before and after I pee in the morning, so I trust them!
  • Thanks TC, I've had a good look at it, and I think its the one for me. what sort of batteries does it take? the description on the site is well... not fab lol it says 1x lithium... is that a AAA or AA or a square battery?! lol The hubby has the job of picking it up for me on wednesday morning when he finishes work bless him.

I think I've been doing his head in today with my moaning and moping... oh well
  • I think it's a circular battery like a watch one, but I'm not sure. It comes with one and is still going strong after over a year!

Moping is all part of the journey unfortunately!
  • TC - thanks again hunny.

On another note, i have a 16th birthday bbq to go to tomorrow afternoon... My first real test i guess... Any tips? I'm thinking munch on salad, have a bit of chicken and stay WELL AWAY from the sausage rolls... Easier said than done... lol
