Good morning girlies!! It's Wednesday! The week's already at the halfway point! Man, this week is flyin'! I bet it's because I have a ton of stuff to do before the weekend and not a whole lot of motivation to do it!
Nello~ I'm going to have to Google that bad boy and check it out. Like I said, hubby won't go for it right now, but my curiosity has been piqued so I gotta check it out!
Gekster~ Yeah, those men and their persuasiveness...grrr...back when I was 'dieting' (ya know, before I decided to make this a life style vs. a diet ) when I would tell hubby, "ya know, I am on a diet ya know" he'd say, "but you have to be bad sometimes" with a glint in his eye...I know it was just his way of trying to get what he wanted by being cute, but still, as cute as he was it made me want to rip of his arm and beat him with it! He tried it again this time, in the beginning, but because he knows he should be eating better, he's not as persistent. Plus, when he does suggest take out, I always say, "you guys can eat that, and I'll have something else" he gets all defensive and defeated and huffy. He's like a little kid who's been told he can't have an ice cream cone before dinner! Do have have a talk with your guy and see if that helps, it might take time, but I'm sure he'll get it eventually. In the meantime, just keep moving forward!
Glutio~ I sure hope you feel better today!! About the movement issue...have you tried the probiotic yogurt? Jacqui and I were chatting about it last week...it seems to be helping some to at least regulate things with me. I also take acidophilus every morning. There's also a new pill out called Align--I think it's at Sams club but I bet you can find it at Walmart too since they're owned by the same company. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there. Hope you feel better hun!
Velveteen~ WTG on your Day3 today!! 20 mins straight...I can't even wrap my head around that! Congrats on getting over that hump, you should be very proud of yourself!
Delphi~ aw, you're too kind. I love taking pics, but it's taken a back seat lately--what with the gardening and working out, etc. Ah well, gives me a chance to read up on the stuff I'm struggling with right? Congrats on the pound!! Sorry you still have Hulk hands though. I'm always slightly puffy in the morning (my rings are always snug, where as they spin around during the day) but after a bit of water it goes away. Sounds like you're having more than mild swelling though. If it persisits I may insist that you go chat with your dr, ya know, just to be on the safe side--rule out something like high blood pressure. Good luck on fitting 4 gallons in the frig! It's a dance I do weekly! Rearrange this, move that, toss out that--adjust this shelf here...move this out of the way--cram, stuff, wedge...voila! 4 gallons of milk in the fridge!! Not sure if I have any advice or words of wisdom on the guy friend front...just trust your gut is all I can say...oh, and keep us posted.
Jacque~ yeah, I'm thinking that measuring my neck now is kind of pointless--all my chins are pretty much gone and I doubt I'd see any kind of loss. My arms, now I measure those bad boys every week--just willing them to shrink, even a tiny bit--but they, like my calves, seem content on just staying the same...week after week after week...
Susie~ congrats on the pound!! Hmm, wonder what's up with your duck? Weird that she would lay eggs that were all duds. I'm not sure where our mama duck went--we used to see her every night with her 2 boyfriends--guess she had a hard time choosing a guy or something and it's been a couple of weeks now since we've seen them. I'm guessing they're down by the pond with their other ducklings??
Well ladies, it's not supposed to rain all day, but it's still ugly outside and it's supposed to be humid and icky. I keep praying that we'll get some drier, cooler weather because my mom and little sister are flying in on Monday for a week long visit. I'm going to do my best to stay POP all week, but my goal this month is to stay POP 85% of the time, so it gives me a little wiggle room if I should decide to endulge in a little alcohol or sweets...right?
Down another full pound today! I'm not entirely sure if it'll stick, but I'm doing the happy dance anyway! And with that loss, I now I know for sure that TOM is outta here! Oddly short visit this month, but I'm not complaining!!
Well girls I better get going. I really need a shower and the kids are starting to wake up.
Oh, but I forgot to ask you all--I need small pet suggestions! After the whole duckling experience we've decided that it's time to get the kids a pet. We have fish, but they're not 'real pets' as my oldest put it. Cats and dogs are out right now so we're looking at something small that lives in a cage. Hamsters are also out as they are nocturnal and not exactly much fun for the kids. Also out are any animals that require live food and heat lamps (ick and too many power outtages during the stormy season). I guess that doesn't leave much does it? Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts! I'm thinking ginea pig at this point, but have been told they're stinky?? Help!
Okay ladies, have a fantastic day and be good to yourselves!!! Be sure to Drink Your Water too and if you haven't gotten your exercise in yet--get on it!! Daylight's a wastin'!!! Get a move on! You can't lose it if you don't move it girls!!!
Sandye ~ Yeah, the fridge is a constant struggle. I have a side by side, so most of the time, it's hard to fit things in the freezer. Hey but I got a good deal on it and it had an automatic ice maker and I was sold. So I deal. Three 's for dropping another pound. You are on a roll as of late. But you've been uber busy and doing all that work outside which translates to a lot of calories being burned. I wish I could stay off my butt a bit more. I have no trouble exercising, it's all the times in between that I tend to take up residence at my puter. At any rate, have yourself a grrrrrrrrreat day!
As for me, I opted out of the treadmill this morning. I just felt like I needed a change to shock the body a bit. My body was screaming treadmill but my intuition was screaming the Wii, the Wii. So I went for low impact boxing and tennis this morning. The upside is that I'm still gonna try to get my other workouts in today as well. Plus all the walking around at the grocery store, that should keep my butt off the puter today. Anywho, you ladies take it easy today. Oh and my Wii Fit told me I was no longer obese and that I'm now just over-weight....how cool is that?
Good morning all! Mostly feeling better today, at least so far! Yesterday morning, it didn't really hit until 10a, though. Here's hoping it doesn't happen again today!
I won't be around all day, but I wanted to drop in and share that my scale FINALLY went down!! Woohoo!! 276.5 this morning, ladies!
Yay glutio on the pound gone! I do hope you're able to pin point what's causing you all this trouble so you can counteract it somehow.
Blondie-I measure my chest, hips, waist, thighs, and upper arms. I measure the first of every month (once a month) to see progress. Whether I'm losing pounds or not, it tells me what else is going on with my body.
Velveteen-I have printed out the C25K challenge and intend to begin next month. I'm going to make it a July goal to get half way through it. What do you think of it so far?
CMof4-Excellent photo! What an adorable duckling! Good to hear the little guy is safe at the rescue. I don't have any good suggestions for small pets except hamsters. Guinea pigs do smell. Ferrets are messy and can nibble on toes. Birds are messy and loud sometimes. Hamsters are nocturnal, but they're awake some during the day and the kiddos can play with it then. My friend's kids have one and they love it. The big problem is they don't tend to live real long.
My good news is that I'm less than a pound from my June goal! It really should be doable even though next week is like the week of incredible diet challenges. We are going to Wisconsin Dells for 3 days (eating out the whole time) and then we come back to this town's festival weekend (YUMMY food booths, LOTS of temptations!!!). I CAN do it though. I WILL make good choices. I WILL make good food choices. I WILL make good food choices!!!!!

Reason: spelling
Glutio ~ Good to hear you feel better this morning. Oh and I found that when I up'ed my fiber, I started going regular. But only after I ate an entire bowl of corn.
Sandye ~ Oh yeah, no pet suggestions from me either. I'm not fond of pets. I'm a dog person, so I do like dogs, but all other types of household pets...meh, not so much. Plus with canaan, we can not have ANY pets, soooo, sorry I can't help ya with this one.
Jacqui ~ Ya your posting again. , I read over in the sister thread that you are on an upswing today and that has really made my freakin' day, let me tell ya. I may be lakes and miles away but dang if we still don't worry about our friends, regardless of how far away they may be. So I'm thrilled. Today is your day!!! I sense greatness in you young padawan and I feel as if your one with the force again. Breathe easy dear and enjoy the **** out of your day. One day at a time.
MsP ~ Your sister thread news about the run was freakin' awesome. I mentioned to you in another thread that you've really been on top of things lately, and really pushing yourself. It's simply awesome and kudos for sticking with it and just doing a stand up job. Oh and I was thinking of doing the C2k program. I'd love to do it with ya next month. We shall see how my knees are at the end of this month. Oh and on the loss.
Jacqui-I second what Delphi said. Hearing you're having a good day totally made mine! So glad to hear you are smokin' it today. One day at a time, chickie! Delphi-Allow me to join the ranks of those who are truly blessed by you. Thanks for those super encouraging words. It would to have a C25K partner. Let's do it!
Thanks for the advice ladies, I have talked to him a few times, even tried to get him to help me with my rewards by simply asking him to randomly stuff pieces of paper into envelopes at lb increments so it would be more of an encouragement for me to make it since i wouldn't know what my reward would be.. well I asked him to do that Friday night, he thought it was a great idea and thought he would throw in a couple of his own that would be a total surprise for me, but it is now Wednesday and they are still sitting in stacks waiting to be put into envelopes. That is kind of how he is about weight loss, he thinks it is a great idea, and eats whatever I cook, but if I am tired one night or something, it is an "oh, I can pick up something" but if it is during the week I can resist. I think because he is a guy and can drop weight so fast if he tries, he doesn't understand what a battle it is for me. This morning I got on the scale and lost 1 lb, which is awesome, but it is only .2 lower than my lowest because I've been working off weekends gain. I'm sorry for the whiny novel, I'm just tired and frustrated, I think I will go ahead and go back to sleep for a bit and wake up on the other side of the bed.
Glutio - I'll be thinking about you today, everyone loves that mandatory bowling bonding work nonesense. Nothing like wearing tacky shoes and bending over in front of your boss to feel that team spirit! And sweet it worked, 276! Maybe that was just what you needed.
Lene - Anything is possible and we've still got a week and a half so why not, away the pounds go.
Blondie - I measure monthly when I do my pics, i measure neck, upper arm, forearm, chest, waist, hips, thigh and calf. I find it excellent motivation because last month during TOM when my weight was glued to me I still lost some waist inches which is really what counts anyway. I figure anyway we can see additional progress the better.
NSM - I find that the daily weighing actually desensitizes me to it, if I weigh once a week then holy heck there better be like 5lbs gone but when I see it shift and move everyday it's easier for me, then every thursday I look back at the thursday before and say, oh cool I lost two pounds. Hope it works out for you!
Nellonello -It is awesomeness here isn't it? wtg on the steady 2 pounds a week, I'm looking into something like that too, I will have to check out Costco too and see, I never even though of that. Thanks a bunch.
CMo4 - You can totally tell you have lots of kids the way you keep us all in line Cute little guy omg no wonder the kids were upset. I'm kinda feeling like you could us a break from yard work, but that's just me, I'm tired for you. WTG on the pound!
LE - Awesome making up that workout! And you know I got out of bed today and went running so she won't get mad at me too
LTBH -If we all got together I don't think anyone would eat or exercise but I guess we won't get any bigger anyway, and talking burns calories if you do it fast enough.
Velveteen - now that's what I call dedication, posting from you blackberry! Awesome on the run, I don't know what it is but after completing a run it is the best feeling ever, nothing quite like it, wtg.
Delphi -That big old 23lbs lost was the first thing I saw when I logged onto the thread. I gave you a big arm pump woohoo when I say that. Oddly enough, after 6 days of squat I too an down a pound today (insert twilight zone theme song here) I will up date the ticka tomorrow though. And I think you're right, I have some really long term awesome guy friends and I never wonder whether they being suggestive or flirty, because they're not! And the one time I did think my best friend might be interested in me I ended up having his baby (that would be the dh of course.) And totally come running, you know you waaaant too. This is peer pressure and you will give in.
Jacque - I'm rather interested to see those arms now! I'm in the market for one of those too but I can't seem to settle on one I like, has all the features I want and doesn't impede my daughters college fund.
MsP - Only a pound?! wicked that should be child's play now, WTG!
Had an interesting night last night, I encountered my first emotionally related food craving, but I caught it, acknowleged it and went to bed. My dh is an RCMP (red jacket, funny hats, horse police for the americans) And last night at 11pm he got a call out for something rather dangerous and my first reaction was the desire to eat b/c I was worried about him. But instantly I knew what it was and went to bed, it was cool to feel that in control of once.
My run is done today, it was easier and I went farther than on Monday, in the same time, so I guess I ran faster! I do so love to get outside in the morning before all the world wakes up. Today is a quick trip to the drug store, mow 1.25acres with a push mower (OMG!) the riding one is in the shop and waiting parts, ugh. It will likely take 5 hours but I'll do what I can. And then it's off to dd's soccer round up tonight. She's not even three and to watch them all play is pretty much the funniest thing ever, but they have fun and that's the point.
Have an awesome day ladies and if anyone has a spare mower and some time on their hands, I'll give you directions!
Tummygirl ~ Too funny! OH MY GOSH, now I'm all envious of your husband and the fact that he is an officer of the law. I'm drooling over here. I get cop behind me and I'm just praying he turns the blue lights, alas, it never happens. Just want to roll around in the hay with at least one cop before I die. Geez... Good for you though on your run and oh my at all that mowing. I took care of mine yesterday And of course three 's for the pound. It was about time for both of us dangit. All that exercise is bound to result in weight loss, I mean come on. The weight loss God's are definitely smiling down on us today. All that mowing and you are liable to burn 3500 calories and drop another pound. Good luck, I'll be cheering you on with arm pumps and all.
MsP ~ You rock! Yeah, I'm trying to work my knees up, strengthen them, so I can jog a little without them killing me so I really really really hope I can do that with you next month. I want to be a runner, although my grandmother is opposed to it. She says running is bad for the knees and since mine are all blah and stuff, I just don't know. At any rate, keep up the groovy work lady.
Gekster ~ Well you're doing great even against the odd's. I am proud of you for trucking along even though, the support could be better. You keep doing what your doing darling and you will see goal.
Alright I'm about to head out and pick up some stuff and I kinda want to buy something for me. But don't know what. I'll talk to you ladies later.
Delphi - you do have to do something illegal before they'll pull you over It is pretty cool, I must admit but I was with him before too when he was a poor college student and worked at McDonalds. Its funny he's had more woman come onto him since he started than his entire life combined, and some do it right in front of me, while he's holding his daughter, we call it the scarlet fever, lol.
Gekster - hang in there chickie, it takes practice just like eveything else and the more you practice those weekends the better you'll be. And some people don't get it b/c change is really hard, and not just for us. Any change down is good and all your doing so be proud!

The Ducky is so cute. It makes me think of when my kids were little and we had a couple ducks. The only think was my littlle boy liked to carry them by the neck( not on purpose) he was only 2 years old. Geskter I know what your saying about husbands/boyfriends and eating. I think I finally got it down after 2 years. You just have to have the right mind set. Getting past being so into them and not thinking of yourself. This time you need to think about yourself. Be a little selfish, You deserve to look great, and be healthy. VelveteenGood job on the jogging.keep it up
Congrads on all the weight dropps(susiemartin, glutio,Delphie) DelphieYou are so funny about the cop thing. There is nothing more hot than a man in uniformWhen I went to the police academy I struggled cause I was married to a jerkwad. However when I got my uniform, believe it or not men like it too.
Delphi and Ms_P, thank you so much! I'll tell you, you ladies really helped me. You two, CMof4, NSM, FSA, Gator, T_Girl, Pas, Lewis, Ican--you all encouraged me to keep exercising, to keep with my weight loss plans, and to keep posting (even if it wasn't as much). Your support was amazing! And you know, it really kept me "in the game" when I might have so easily taken to my bed, stopped eating, stopped exercising, and hidden away for a while. Depression can be a tricky thing. It makes it so easy to give up. But I am feeling much better today, like myself again, and hopefully this upward trend will continue!
And now to try to jump back into personals on this very chatty thread! Oh my! Lol!
CMof4, congrats on losing another lb! Oh and your duckling is SO darling!! I know you absolutely did the right thing in handing it over to professionals, but oh my, I don't know if I could have done it! It is SO precious! I'm glad you have pics of it to keep forever. If dogs and cats are out, you might consider what I got my daughter for Christmas. She lives in an apartment and wanted a pet and she chose chinchillas! And she absolutely loves them! When I read up on them, I worried about them being too fragile, but they are a whole lot heartier than the information out there makes them out to be. And they are just so cute and, well, addictive! We had them here for two weeks at Christmas and then she took them and I've missed them ever since! They are so fun to watch and although they are not cuddling type pets, they are very social and they will climb on you and sit in your lap. They are very easy to take care of, are odorless, and do not get fleas (fur is too thick). They are different though. They can't get wet so they take dust baths, and their teeth never stop growing so they have to have things like wood to chew on. (If you've had hamsters, I believe they are similar.) Also, you catch them by the base of their tails to pic them up, which doesn't hurt them at all. You can't just grab their bodies because they have floating organs (this is what I was talking about when I said they are less fragile than they sound). And oh my, they are the softest things! My daughter absolutely loves hers! We looked into rabbits and ferrets, something to cuddle, first, but rabbits' urine has a strong odor, and ferrets, even though you can deodorize them, still have a pretty strong smell to them (but they are SO cute and playful). We also looked into sugar gliders but they are extremely active at night and we weren't sure if they'd keep her up and we also weren't sure if they were high maintenance. We also looked into hedgehogs, which are darling, but they are hard to get around here. My daughter recently saw a dego and said she thought they would make wonderful pets. But she just adores her chinchillas. Oh and chinchillas live for 10-20 years so if you get one or two (they are happier in pairs--make it same sex pairs unless you want to breed them!), you have to plan to have them for awhile! We were concerned because we had read that chinchillas can bite, but the breeder we got ours from has never been bitten and she's bred them for 20 years (has 60 of them!) and my daughter's have never even looked like they were going to bite. So it probably depends on how much they were handled as babies. Our breeder handled them multiple times a day, and ours are super friendly.
Joci, can't wait to see those pics of you, girl!
Susie, congrats on another lb down! You are doing great!!
Velveteen, welcome back after your brief respite from the thread! You are one of the people at 3FC whom I have followed the progress of through various threads since I returned to 3FC is March, and I think you are just doing fantastic now! Good for you, chickie!
Glutio, congrats on the scale moving down again! Keep going, girl!
Blondie, I forgot to take my measurements at the beginning of this month but I usually do. I just take bust-waist-hips to get a general idea of my overall weight loss. It's a nice thing to fall back on when the scale isn't moving!
Lene, losing 5 lbs is possible! My weight loss always seems to wait until the last moment and although I never seem to make my 10 lbs goal, I have made 9 lbs a couple times now with 5 lbs coming off in the last couple of weeks! So don't give up! Think positive and keep going!
NSM, I weigh daily, and although I don't know if it's the best way (Joci's once-a-week seems to be working out great for her), like I said before, I do okay with the daily fluctuations, probably better than I'd do if the scale didn't happen to move on the one day I stepped on it if I only weighed once a week. It might help you!
Nello, good luck with your new toy! Let's us know how it turns out!
Gekster, congrats on being POP yesterday! And you have a great attitude about the monthly goal! These monthly goals are for motivation. They are not set in stone, because let's face it, we can only influence our metabolisms so much. We just have to keep doing the best we can!
T_Girl, I hope you are feeling better today with your cold! I absolutely love your determination! And great job not giving into your craving last night! And I am so happy your DH made it home safely!
Lewis, c'mon girlie! You are one of my inspiration chicks! I know that when you set your mind to something, you do it! So get in gear, girlie! You feel so great when you are OP and exercising and those lbs start dropping off, down and down and down! So c'mon now! You can do it!!
FSA, I'm so glad you have enjoyed your fresh halibut! It just sounds so wonderful! If you start passing your recipe out, please pass it my way!
Hi to all our ladies!
Well, I am down 2 lbs today! Finally! I was afraid that I wasn't going to lose any more weight this month with everything going on, I knew that stress can mess with your metabolism, but I thought for sure I was going to find out the hard way! But you know, I think the fact that I went off plan this past weekend really did jump start things again! I was hoping that that kind of theory was right--I had always heard that if you are doing everything strictly OP and not getting anywhere, to give it up for one day to one week, and although you might show a gain initially, it would come off and then more. And at least for me, that seemed to work! I was off plan for the weekend, was up a lb for a couple of days, and then boom, I was down 2 additional lbs! I don't want to make a habit of it, of course, but if I think my metabolism has hit a plateau, I am definitely willing to try it again!
Hey ladies! Just stopping in to say, I did get my Strength Training in and still plan on doing my treadmill as well, after dinner tonight. Just mixing it up a bit today. Anywho, my friend just sent me a 12 month gift subscription to NetFlix. Talk about awesome! I always watch movies on my treadmill and when he asked about my birthday, I suggested the first season of Lost. Because I've never seen not one episode but I when i played the game, I knew I would like the show. So he just sent me the NetFlix gift. Talk about uber excited. Now I can actually watch movies I haven't seen like a trillion times. I'll be back later to do personals, just wanted to share my news. I hope you all are having a great day!
EDIT: Just got another email and I got me a fancy 200$ gift certificate to a local spa.
