I don't think I mentioned it but I did W3D3 yesterday. It felt great but I did have to talk myself into the last minute or so of three. When I woke up this morning my knee was hurting like it was bruised. I pressed on it to feel if it was indeed bruised (yes I have banged my legs and not remembered how or when) but it wasn't. It was just sore from the inside. I am wondering if it would be a good idea to take some Ibuprofen before my runs. Anyone else have anything like that?
Hey girls! I did w5d2 today and the run went great. w5d3 (ooh my) is going to be during that TOM but i hope this doesn't change anything! Thanks for keeping me inspired with all your great posts!
Mama bear...I've posted similar issues. Both my knees were feeling like they would give out Thurs. ( when I ran W3D3) and Fri. I have used ice...ibuprofen and rest...today they feel pretty good and my next run is not until tomorrow so I will see. I'm trying to decide if I should not push it and do wk 3 over to strengthen my knees or press on to w4d1....ugh...idk! Anyone with advice its greatly appreciated!
I should mention that along with the feeling of giving out..I also had slight pain with occas. Sharp pain if I moved wrong fast but that all seems gone today with no ibuprofen or anything.
So today I did W2D2 and it was so much more difficult than W2D1! Why is this?! Also, when I was going to check the Time left on my phone, it suddenly decided to restart! I was so upset. So that workout didn't get logged, however I am extremely proud of myself for completing the run without the help of the app. I was so tempted to just walk the rest of the way, but instead I watched the time on my phone and completed the last minute and a half of jogging and did my cool down. I was pouring sweat! It was 85 and sunny today.
Good job Lotra91! There are many reasons that could explain who one run is easier or harder than the other. I know that there are days when I just feel better in general and my runs are usually easier on those days.
Like yesterday, I tried running W7D1 and I couldn't finish. I stopped after 18 minutes. Two days before I ran 22 minutes without a problem. But yesterday I ran in the afternoon, it was hot and I probably hadn't waited long enough after eating so the run did not go well.
Angelic, thanks for the input! It was probably because I was an idiot and didn't wait long enough after drinking A LOT of espresso! Espresso + heat + running... No good. I'm going for W2D2 tonight and going to try a hit of Advair (I got it a couple of months back when I had a bad chest cold) to see if that will help with the breathing problems I have. I'm considering going to the doc to get a script for a real inhaler. That is - if they believe it would help.
Hey everyone! A little update on me - i finished w5d3 today and it was great! I was all grumpy in the morning from having cramps (TOM) and having overslept a bit, i went for my run - didn't think about how scary long it was or anything. I just put music on and started my run and before i knew it it was over! I really missed having walking intervals though - because i usually use them to fix the wedgie my sports pants give me and to shuffle around my music.

You go Lotra for pushing yourself to finish it even without the app! I know what you mean, so far for me Day 1 is usually okay, Day 2 SUCKS and then Day 3 I feel all strong and stuff. There are so many variables, but I certainly think espresso could be the culprit

Hahahahahaha, thanks for making me smile Wow, congrats. What an inspiration that you have finished week 5! No walking breaks? Okay yeh, I can't think too far ahead, being on week 3, I'll scare myself.
So, Yesterday I finished W2D3 and today I started W3D1! Usually I give myself a day of rest in between, but since we are traveling this weekend, I wanted to make sure I would be able to complete W3 by Saturday.
I never really look at what the App has in store for me, so today I was totally thrown off by two different run times (90 seconds and 3 minutes). And then I was really thrown off when it said I was half way done. REALLY!? Oh well, I pushed through it. The 3 minute run intervals were certainly difficult, but I' proud of myself for getting through them.
I'm feeling some soreness in my lower calf, and I can also feel muscle there. I've always had big upper calves, but my lower calves have never felt like this before. I will definitely do a lot of stretching. I know going hiking on Saturday probably also contributed to the soreness in my lower calves/ankles.
100Mother, I'm glad you found my wedgie problem funny, because i am sure the innocent onlookers don't appreciate it much
Week 3 is a special milestone in this program, i think, because it steps it up from previous weeks with the first truly longer run intervals and the transition to week 4 is minimal - just add extra 100m running. I also experienced soreness in my calf but if you give yourself a bit of rest it will go away ( i must admit every time i feel this kind of deep faint soreness in my calf i think of deep vein thrombosis because it freaks me out so much).
I'd like to sign up for the virtual 5k too!
By the way basementcat...I smiled because I can RELATE! Except for me I use the breakst to adjust my braw straps. These 'girls' just don't wanna stay in, haha. Oh, and of course, to find better music if needed. Guess I will have to pay more attention to how I set up my play list once I get that far in the program.
100Mother, my girls sit nice and tight under 3 (three) sports bras. But the sports wedgie is killing me, also my 3/4 sports pants ride up above my knees exposing my not so thin calfs to the world!
I am entertaining the notion of bragging about the 3.2 km run on FB ... i just feel proud and want to share it with all my non-committed to sports non-running friends. But i feel like i will be making a fool of myself when someone says - wow 3 km? Really? That's like spitting in the ocean, or something What do you girls think?
