Exactly! I want the 5k to feel like it's just a quick run around the block (LOL!). My block is 1 mile long (with hills too!) so I'd have to run around 3 times plus go up about 4 houses. I'll have to try walking that if the weather allows this weekend, then I'll have to dream about jogging/running it!

I'm so excited! I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do after C25K and I just found out the same guys who made my app also have a 5K to 10K app that picks up right where C25K leaves off. I don't have a goal of running a 10K for now, but I do want to keep working on endurance and speed and the program looks perfect for that PLUS the workout changes everytime so it stays interesting. Day one is an easy run, day two alternates slow jogs and faster runs and day three is a long run. I'm so excited I can't wait to start! But I need to finish C25K first, haha!

Oh and I'll get to keep the same "trainer" I have in C25K!

Changergirl, I feel ya. Wednesday on W4D2 I felt like that. Maybe try slowing your pace. I had to do that too. I was running at 4.5 mph and walking at 3.5 mph. Starting week 4 I have had to do 3 mph walking and 4 mph running. It's going much better though and I figure once I get through the whole thing then I'll work on speed and then maybe do the 5k to 10k.

I feel like today's run went well. Much better than Monday and Wednesday. I wonder if I should try W5D1 Monday. Maybe I'll try it and if it doesn't work out I'll go back to W4 stuff.

Oh and look at there, I just updated my c25k ticker and realized I'm half way done! My program is 8 weeks!

Congrats on hitting the halfway mark Mamabear, you'll be running 5Ks in no time!

Elvis- I meant to mention this before but forgot, I've downloaded the Zen Labs 10K program and it is starts off identical to the 5K program. You run your 5K W8D3 then it starts adding more running time W9 and it goes back to intervals. I know you don't want to run a 10K, and most likely I won't either, but I think I'm going to use it just to improve my 5K time and see from there. If you don't want to worry about planning out your own schedule, it's something to look into. Enjoy your weekend off!

Completed W3D2 (doing week 3 over ) my knees are doing well I think! If Sundays run goes well...will move on to week 4. The only trouble I'm having since having to rest my knees for a few days is my breathing....seems like I'm really gasping more...ughhh! It really stinks to have to do a week over...especially for an OCD like me...I'm trying to focus on the fact that I'm doing this at all...so hang in there even if you have to do a week over!!!

Changergirl, Thanks! And I'm using Zen labs too. I may have to look into the 5k to 10k app. I've wondered if I'd like it or not. I didn't want to pay for something I wouldn't end up liking though. Maybe I'll check it out when I'm done with c25k.

I'm so happy so many of you are looking into the 10K training apps! I won't be alone doing it!

It's raining today! I hope the weather will be nicer when the kids nap this afternoon. I really really want to go for a run today!

Hello, all you lovely runners! i finished week6 with a 3.6km run and let me tell you - it gets easier! While i was running a stray dog just kind of tagged along with me, running along side me and wished i could kidnap him to my home! Then some cyclist went by us and he continued on running along side them
i am thinking of adopting a dog and taking him or her along with me while i run and do other outdoors stuff but my bf is resisting the idea.
Anyway, that's my update!

I did W3D1 today and oh my god... I just can't even fathom moving on from this week! It was so hard. I did get through all the jogging sessions, but I was not feeling well when I got home. Maybe it's just that it was 85 degrees. I'll try W3D2 later on in the evening when the sun is going down. I was really upset to see that my pace and distance were significantly reduced on this run.

Lotra91 Try not to get discouraged...it is a tough week but you did it...I think slowing down and finishing is better than not finishing!

I had to do week 3 over due to knee problems and just finished W3D3 for the second time and it was hard!!! We have buffalo gnats here I was fighting and it was just hard! I can't imagine getting thru week 4 but I'm going to do it! Lol! Will use the bug spray next time!!

Lotra91: The first day of the week is always the hardest and I always think I'm going to have to repeat it but by Day 3 I usually can do it pretty easily. But ds072793 is right, there's no shame in repeating a week if you need it!

It finally stopped raining tonight and I was able to finish week 7! And guess what? It wasn't hard at all! Bring on week 8 and the 28 minutes run!

Somehow forgot to mention my Saturday run, probably because it didn't go so well. It appears I'm stuck right around the 20 minute mark, anything higher than that my body hates. I was supposed to do 25 minutes and got to about 22 before my body just could not go any further. I thought I was pacing myself well but I guess it wasn't a good enough job. My plan was to redo it tonight however it is currently pouring rain and is supposed to for the next couple days so I may have to take some rest days.

Lotra91- the weather definitely effects me. I'm having to run later and later as it's warming up. I'm also planning on joining the gym starting June 1st to avoid outdoor running in the summer.

Happy Memorial Day all! I did W5D1 today and it went much better than I had anticipated. I'm an ex smoker but I had a relapse Saturday night because I had a few drinks. I was worried that it would affect my run. I am sure it did a little but like I said I think the run went well. I finished it and only had to walk for a bit during one of the runs and that was going up a hill. I usually do my run on a treadmill at the gym but my cousin is in town and she's doing C25K too (she's a week ahead of me) so we went to a park and ran together. That was another thing that concerned me just a bit. I'm definitely happy with how I did. Hope you all have great runs!
