  • ds072793- congrats, you are doing great!

I hope you feel better MSEMDEE. Take some time and make sure you're all healed before you try and go out again.

I just re-did W6D3 and completed it! I tried to go further so I wouldn't come to that same "hill" with a minute to go as last time but somehow I was almost in the exact same spot at the 14 minute mark. This time I made sure I kept going and it felt really good to get that done with. I am worried about the 20 minute run on Wednesday though.
  • You can do it Changergirl!!!

I've had some pain in my knee and the back of my thigh last week so I took a few days off. I don't want to risk an injury. I'm hoping to redo W6D2 tonight but it's raining pretty hard and it might rain some more tonight so we'll see.

    Have a good week everyone!
  • Changegirl - Definitely agree with everyone else that you shouldn't beat yourself up. Sounds like you are doing AMAZING!

Elvis - You are such an inspiration! I designed this t-shirt one time and it said 'Plus Size Athlete' and I had a really cool saying on the back, but now I can't think of it, haha! Anyway, you ARE a runner! You go girl.

So today I completed W1D3!! Very excited to get my first week under my belt! My plan is to run this Wednesday, Friday, and finish up W2 on either Saturday or Monday (depending on how I feel Saturday). Yay!
  • Hey all...I started C25K on the treadmill a couple weeks ago. I've had a few challenges around work and such with the gym, so my weeks 1-2 were a bit extended. I think I'll give week 3 a shot on my next treadmill day.

If it's too much of a challenge, I'll still on week 2's workout...we'll see.

Pretty exciting, though, to think that I can actually be doing some running. (Yes, it's a slow jog, but I'm moving.)
  • This is one of my favorite threads ever, you all make me so happy to read your messages. But please please please take it easy if you are sick or injured!! This isn't a contest but a journey and we need you all to be healthy and strong!

Doing W8D1 later this afternoon, will be back with a report!

    Happy Monday, everyone!
  • Did W4D3 today - i run a lot more faster than d1 and d2 and it was fun! I am looking forward to w5, but i am scared to attempt it as the weather is foul and i will be that time of the month soon
Anyway, you are doing great girls!
Elvis, i am looking forward to your update on week 8!
100Mother - wow you made it through week 1! Keep going strong
  • W8D1 is done!! I feel so great doing this program, I'm a bit nervous for it to end at the end of next week. Today I was actually impatiently waiting for the warm up time to end so I could get my run on! I find that I focus on small bits of time rather than staring at the whole big 28 more minutes. So I look at the 28 and focus on getting to 20. Then when I get to 20 I know at 14 mins. she will say I'm half way through. Then when I get to 10mins. I know I'm almost in single digits. Then when I get to 9, I know it's almost done. Isn't it weird that mental games make it seem easy?

I was talking to my doctor today about doing the C25K and he was absolutely excited for me. I told him I'm really slow (he's a "real" runner!), like painfully slow. He was actually HAPPY that I only do 3.8mph and building up my time weekly like C25K does. He said the speed isn't important, it's better to work on the time. And I said I wanted to run faster and longer and he said just to concentrate on the time running so I was pretty happy about that. I felt almost embarrassed telling him I'm only doing 28mins running as of today (and it ended up equaling only 2.40miles) but I'm glad I was honest with him.

We are doing great things here!! Good luck with your runs this week.

Too bad we couldn't buy 3FC tshirts on here. Maybe one that says "I run with 3FC!" or something!!

We were typing at the same time!
  • Gasp! Congrats on a very successful w8d1!
  • Quote: Gasp! Congrats on a very successful w8d1!
Thank you!! I still can't even believe it. I feel like I'm having an out of body experience when I run, like I can't believe it's me!
  • Congrats runner!
I am still laid up with this cold and a terrible chest cough now.
    Makes my lungs burn.
It's ok though because I will be mentally ready to run my butt off when my lungs are ready!
    Go runners go!
So proud of each and every one of us!
  • Just checking in to say I'm still here and still sticking with it. I'm up to 3k now. Mostly running. I've found the last few runs very hard. Not sure why but my legs just feel heavy and although I want to do it mentally my body isn't into it. I hate to admit this but I've been having some hip pain as well. I've researched the causes and there's such a range that it's hard to speculate on what exactly it is. Right now I don't think it's super serious. I'm closely monitoring it though. I really don't want to stop now
  • FINALLY

I did my first day (again) Phew. Hard work, even more that I haven't been to the gym more than a handful of times in the last few weeks. Not gunna lie, I sort of took a break halfway through. The treadmill I was on felt really odd, and it was making strange noises, so I stopped.... but there were no more free treadmills. So I went and rode the recumbent bike until a different one opened up... Not ideal, but whatevs

I have committed to a 5k color run in September, and I want to be able to run the whole damn thing. I am going to do this dammit!

You guys are all so awesome and such an inspiration. I have been lurking here for weeks

  • elvis: You're doing fantastic! And I see the weight is melting, woohoo! I've been on a plateau for a month so I enjoy seeing others be successful!

    Silverfire: You can do it!!!!!

I'm not gonna be able to run today (bad weather). It's supposed to be nice outside tomorrow so I'll go for sure. I'm a bit nervous since I haven't run since Thursday, but I didn't want to risk getting a bad injury. My thigh muscle and my knee no longer hurt so that's good.
  • W6D2 is finally DONE!!!

It went really well too. I ran 3.59 km total so I'm slowly getting closer to 5K. And I didn't feel any pain in my knee or thigh so all is good. I'm glad I took a few days off.

Next up is the 22 minutes run!!!
