I DID IT! I'm pretty proud in case you can't tell! I can't believe it. I thought about stopping a couple of times early on. I told myself, "once I get half way I'll stop for about 10 seconds." But when she said "you're half way." I didn't need to stop! With 2 minutes 24 seconds left, I felt like I could use a break but when I saw how much time I had left, I was like "why stop now? You're almost done!" I know I'm always telling everyone else to trust the program but I fail to listen to that for myself. Anyway, have great runs today everyone!
silverfire I think you and I are on the same schedule! I just finished W3D2! I'm excited for my next run. After that first 3 minute walk my legs feel so tired! I feel like the break in the run lets my legs relax that when I start running again my legs actually feel like they'll give out before my lungs do.
Right on! I am going to postpone my run for today and hope that this nagging pain in my foot subsides, and I will give it a go tomorrow. I think my lungs and legs are in a race to see who gives out first! Haha
Thanks 100 Mother!! I want to be all done with it already! This pretty much sums up my feelings right now LOL
elvislover - good idea, definitely deserve a break, and your body may need the recovery time. You are doing awesome, and I hope you feel better!! I agree that this thread is AWESOME! I'm always so excited to post in here. Definitely my favorite thread off the entire forum. Just sayin.
MSEMDEE Welcome back! Hope you feel better soon.
Silverfire - Hope you feel better! Everybody that isn't feeling well I hope you really do get some rest and make sure to fuel your body for recover.
Feeling freaking awesome this morning after my W4D2 run! I was kind of scared of this run after W4D1, cuz yeah, that was really freaking hard. But this one went so much better. I checked my heart rate throughout both D1 and D2 and the comparisons were pretty staggering. D1 my walking heart rate was around 155 and my 'after running' heart rate bounced between 165 and 185! Yikes! Today, D2, My walking heart rate was closer to 135 and my running heart rate bounced between 155 and 165. WAY better, and it probably explains why I felt/feel so good about it.
I really tried to breath the whole time and concentrated on that most of all. When I got a pain in my leg, which happens a lot, I tried to relax instead of stiffening the rest of my best due to the pain. I think it really helped.
It feels good to figure these 'tricks' out. I know they are really important. Just like with my swimming I'm starting to see a lot of improvement with my 'technique', especially my breathing. It is key in my opinion!
Hope everyone feels better and has a great day/run! It's Friday so I might not post tomorrow, but I'm planning on doing W4D3 on Sunday!
mambear YOU ARE SO AWESOME!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS!
W5d2 is done, and it felt pretty good. Those 8 minute intervals weren't so bad. The 20 minute run is in the queue for Sun. I'm actually looking forward to the challenge!
Fitdad, it's really not as bad as you think. I was really stressed about it but it just flew by! I feel now like I turned a corner and the rest will be cake. I hope!
Woo hoo! Just finished W4D3! Can't believe it! And guess what? It felt good. I even did a little bit of a sprint at the end, hehe, and followed it up with an 8 mile bike ride. I'm excited to start W5 on Monday! I am so amazed at how much easier D3 was compared to D1, that I'm not as scared of the 20 minute run at the end of next week
I feel stuck on W4D1. I just can't get to 5 minutes of running. Going to go try again tonight but I just can't believe in myself enough to feel good about it.

Aww pupmom5, you can do it! It was one of the toughest runs I had but it was more mental than physical. Is it possible you can run it at a slower speed? I only run at 3.8mph and I know it's very slow but it allows me to run longer.
I joined the gym yesterday and did my first treadmill run in about 11 months. OMG it was so boring. Congrats to all of you who are doing this on a treadmill. I thought it would be easier than running outside but I was wrong. It didn't help that my gym was hot, they turned on the air conditioning just as I was ending my run AND I've never run on a treadmill that used km/hr. Even though I'm Canadian the treadmill at my parents house is in miles/hr. I ended up estimating the speed which meant I was going way too fast and couldn't sustain it. This all means I'll be attempting W7D3 again on Tuesday. I've changed my running schedule to Tu/Th/Sa as I'm starting a lifting program that's M/W/F!
Oh my god you guys I DID W4D1!!!! I can't even believe it. I mean it sucked. Really bad. And I was jogging so slow, but I actually did it! I think I'm going to take a couple of days to ice my shins some more because they're feeling pretty horrible. Also, I put a picture of my face from a month ago next to a picture of my face yesterday and there's actually a difference! I was getting a little discouraged because I haven't seen any weight change on the scale and kept staring at my body in the mirror looking for some difference... Never thought to look at my cheeks! WOO!
Hi everyone! I haven't posted the past couple of days so I wanted to come and say hi! I tried running W8D2 at the end of last week but failed. I could only do half of it. It was super hot and humid so that didn't help but I'll have to figure out a way to run in those conditions because summer is coming and I won't have a choice.
Since then, we've had lots of rain and thunderstorms so I haven't been able to run! It's supposed to stop raining later tonight so I'll try to go. I hate when I can't run for a few days, especially now that I'm doing longer runs.
