I did it. Still am.
I started roughly at 260 back in February. I have severe lung issues and when I started, I couldn't even complete the first week until I had been on it for two months. I mean, walking DOWN my stairs was a challenge, much less up! And I wanted to do C25K?!?!?
But, here I am, 30 pounds lighter, 7 months later, EASILY running 3 miles the entire time and can often times get my numbers to 7 minutes a mile, although I will admit I tend to only go that fast on days I am pissed. I usually average 12 minutes a mile....my start was 22 minutes a mile though.
The key is to start slow. If you can't move to the next level quite yet, don't. Get running shoes from a running store that fit properly (I get mine from Fleet Feet.) And have fun. It is surprisingly enpowering to do something you never before thought possible.
