mamabear - I was wondering that myself. I just finished w6d2, and I guess I'll find out first hand, since there are no more walk breaks for the rest of the program.
Before I did the 20 minute run, I would have said that one long run is tougher, but now I think the opposite may be the case. For me, this program has done a good job pushing me just a bit more each week - enough that it's a challenge, but not so much that I get frustrated and quit.
Hey girls and guys! You haven't heard from me for a while - its because i started weight training and I've had no energy to run! But tomorrow i will attempt W8D1 because i miss running and the high it gives me and i don't care how sore my legs are!
Congrats to all of you, who are progressing slowly but surely into the program.
Elvis! I think you miss the structure that c25k gave you while you were on the program - the three runs, every week, timed. Maybe you should look into other running programs/apps!
Woohoo! Finished W5D3!!! Can't believe it! And it went smooth and I felt strong! Cannot believe that I am more than half way done with the program now. So exciting

I did stop twice for about 15 seconds each time but going back and forth kills me.
I was JUST thinking this today. Today the 20 minute run was way easier than my run with two 8 min runs. Maybe the stop/start causes things to cramp up? Not sure though. I guess it is a good thing either way.
Hey all!! I'm gonna join back in here now that I'm back on the horse. I've been putting off moving on (i.e. repeating shorter runs) and pretty inconsistent lately but today I decided enough stalling and completed W7D1. I find broken up runs wayyyyy easier for me but I think its mainly a mental block. I went into my run accepting that I'll probably take a couple min speed walk break in the middle but when i got to 10 min I thought wellll maybe at 15... then when I got to 20 I figured may as well just finish it.
So somehow I made it through all 25min (@6mph) without any breaks! I'm still in that post-exercise bliss now. Its not a lot for experienced runners but MAN it feels good to face your demons.
fitdad, I totally agree. Little bumps are good! And thanks! I didn't realize there were no breaks anymore. Eek! LOL
basementcat, welcome back!
100mother, I was telling my hubby that I thought the stops made it harder too. It's like my muscles think we're done so they don't want to start running again when it's time.
dehtripper, 6 mph?!? That's way faster than I run! I run at 3.8. Welcome back to you too!
tobotfingers, Great job getting to that next day! Keep up the good work!

I love that post-exercise bliss. Be proud of what you did!
I usually run M, W, F. I didn't run yesterday because my husband hit me in the eye Sunday and it still hurt yesterday. Don't start thinking is was "like that." LOL I'm that girl that certain things only happen to. We were picking up a pack and play from someone on Craigslist and were putting it back together. We were each pulling one of the velcro straps to close it and his hand slipped and his thumb went right in my eye! Such is my life. Anyway, my head was hurting pretty bad so I didn't want to run yesterday and I figured that if I ran this morning that it would be enough of a break since I don't run till Wednesday after school. I'm also a little (just a little) concerned about the long runs coming up. No short ones left for me.
mamabear - you'll kick out those long runs - no fear. I just did w7d1 yesterday (25 minute run), and it was really empowering. Keep a comfortable (slow, in my case) pace and you can do it. For me, with these longer runs, I'm realizing that a large part of the "block" is mental.
W7D1. I didn't run the whole 25 minutes but definitely ran more than walked. I did it at a park too so I don't know exactly how long I ran and how long I walked (which is bugging my OCD nature) but it was more running than walking. I did 2.38 miles in 37:53 which averages out to 3.76 mph. I walked my 5 minute warm-up then ran for about 11 minutes before I walked for the first time. I didn't time the walk/run intervals after that. I think I did well though because I am used to the treadmill and it was starting to get pretty warm out there. Plus my average was 3.76 mph and on the treadmill, I run at about 3.8 mph. And let's face it, I'm WAY more active than I was 7 weeks ago!
Here's my question I'm posing today. Do you find yourself wanting to eat everything in sight these days? I track my calories on myfitnesspal and I am always like "geez I'm starving but I only have 100 calories left (even after my run) and 100 calories isn't going to cut it!" I just can't eat enough and I don't know what the deal is!
Hey everybody, I didn't run yesterday or this morning because I have been feeling so icky and nauseous. But I wanted to come in here and say that I will be doing W6D1 today darn it!!! I don't really have anything planned for this afternoon other than working out and cooking dinner, so there is no reason that I shouldn't.
Fit Dad you are so right, it is almost completely mental. And I love that word 'empowering'. Don't know why, just one of my favorites Good job btw.
mamabear You are doing so awesome! I know what you mean about the OCD thing, lol. So far as eating everything, I agree. But what is nice is that the things I want aren't necessarily bad for me. It is almost like my body is giving me feedback that it needs a certain kind of nutrition to recover. About the only time I crave unhealthy food is when I'm having an emotional issue. How many calories are you intaking? Maybe you need to give yourself a 'spike'/'cheat' day and up them so your body gets some extra nutrients.
I finished W5D1!!! I'm really proud of myself because I had such a hard time with the 5 minute runs on W4D3 - I even had to do it twice because I gave up the first time. I'm feeling pretty good about doing W5D2 on Friday. I got a foam roller and it has helped so much with the shin splints. I also got used to taking longer strides so that helps too. Does anybody else find it hard to pace yourself? I find that when I run at 5.5-6mph I like it more, but it poses a problem when I get toward the end of my session and I'm worn out
Hey girls and guys! Checking in today - i am headed to week 9 and i lack motivation, not to run, but to go outside. The weather is miserable, i am tired from weight lifting and i am very worried about my weigh in in a few weeks.
Anyway, i know many of us wanted to do a virtual 5k in July, so hows that going?
Hi everyone, just wanted to check in really quick and say that yesterday evening I did W6D1 with no problems! Not doing too great otherwise, super low energy and just feeling yuck. Going to the doctor tomorrow morning, so hopefully I will find out what is going on.
Hey guys... I'm baaaaaaack! After two weeks off, I finally felt good enough to run. I was scared it would be hard, but it went really well. I started right where I had left off on Week 8 Day 2 and I was able to run the whole 28 minutes, though I did it slower than usual. I felt fine the whole time.
It's so good to be back! Now I need to get back to training regularly so I can be ready for the virtual 5K!
