Mystical - Did you eat anything yesterday that would account for that jump? If not then I'd say it's just your body doing something and if we're tracking your food religously, and working out, you're making a deficit and it will come off. I have one from Racheal Ray that I'm sure she has on her website, it's southwestern turkey chili, it has loads of veggies hidden in it too. Turkey meatloaf is awesome too, I usually swap out ground turkey and chicken in recipes depending on what my little old grocery store is carrying that week and I can't tell the difference although I don't know about the calories or fat, etc.
Delphi - Yup I guess we'll call this summer a success, we'll all be laying out in our bikini's next year (maybe just in the backyard though) and that will be enjoying the success. Packing is moving along, slowly, I'm trying not to overpack, which is amazing considering the only clothes that fit are those ones I just bought but I'm still managing to bring too much so right now I'm figuring out outfit combinations to bring least amount with the most variations. Wow the excitment of my life is overwhelming, lol. And my dear you are doing it and doing it well And I'm with you in the soy free department, you won't catch me eating it, unless it's fermented that is
Cmo4 - You need them to go back just for the break, holy, that's crazy busy. I'm totally gonna try me some pita pizza soon, you're an excellent sales person I tell ya. I bet ya that's gonna be one of the supplies the teacher needs, lol. Oh well happy hunting! Did you say you're looking forward to the run? That's just crazy! Chicken stir fry, just sub out the chicken for your tofu in a favorite recipe and you're golden. I'm pretty soy free over here though, that's all I've ever done, maybe add some goat cheese too, just a thought
Jeannep - I'm all for unplugged some days, helps the world slow down a bit. WTG on working through some social events and look forward to that weigh in tomorrow. Supportive ones are hard to find, I'm glad you have some great support over there!
Sasha - And you can't tell the difference with turkey or ground chicken it's true, chili, tacos all that super spicy stuff it all blends in. I got this fantastic turkey burger recipe from recipezaar called Greek Style Turkey Burgers. It's a family favorite and tastes like a greek salad.
Hotsplashes - Welcome aboard, yup, loved the goat cheese joke, I could hear Delphi gagging over there.
Busy afternoon here wowsa. Gotta go feed the troops, if I can barely lift my arms after STing today, good heavens. If I can't type tomorrow I'll just have to peck out a message with the nose. TTL.

Hello!!!
Long time no see. Wow am I behind with the thread, I don't think I'll ever catch up.
Been out and about all day which is good since I missed my workout for the 3rd day in a row . I just realized this morning that I am losing the "me first" attitude that I've had for this past year and I am starting to put the needs/wants of other people first. I gotta do some thinking and re-focusing. Things are just going to get busier for me from now and I cannot let that become an excuse.
Ok..mini rant over.
Hope you all have a great evening.

Hotsplashes
Sasha Thanks for the tip on Tofu... I am ventoring out these days and trying new foods. I will have to try your recipe...
jeannep Happy Monday to you as well... Glad to hear from you. :flow:
crazymamaof4 Don't forget to eat and drink plenty of water LOL... I know I have been so busy lately too and I think that is why the body has been on this crazy roller coaster...
Delphi Hope all went well with the kids and school... My kids, should I say young men.. My youngest starts High School this year and my oldest son this is his last year where has the time gone. My daughter is starting nursing school and has 2 babies... Boy do I feel old and I don't even turn 40 until September.
Tummy Girl I think you are right we were out most of the weekend shopping so I didn't eat much yesterday I think only one good meal and a piece of fruit I know not good... I am doing much better today and I made a chicken/vegetable meatloaf today it was so good... Kind of funny I had veggies in it that I never eat.. WOW can you believe it I am eating veggies. Almost forgot to tell you DH and I are starting HIIT tomorrow we were going to last night but we had company until midnight.... Today is his late night so I will just do my regular cardio and then tomorrow here we go... Thanks for all the help you are the best!
Newshinyme Just remember you are worth it.... I am finding that out for myself.... It seems I have been somebody's wife, mother, sister, friend, but never there for just myself... So every morning I get up now and say Yes you are worth it... Take care of me first!
As for me I have been struggling with trying to get over these cat allergies and then I got a summer cold and I just feel tired and drained today.. I feel like I just need a good upside my head... I am really trying to get the eating back under control and the exercising routine back on track... I can tell you when I was not able to post here everyday it really makes a big difference for me... I would like to thank each and everyone of you for all the inspiration and support I need here... You all are my guardian Thanks! Hope you all have a fantastic night....

Sandye-Just an FYI, I've read in a couple places recently that soy is in fact a weight loss inhibitor. It's funny because so many people turn to it due to it's low fat content. I can't recall specifics, but I heard/read from reputable places. Maybe check it out online, google it or something. I used to buy Boca Burgers, but no more... I don't need anything slowing me down! BTW, thanks for your version of chili. I LOVE my chili, but it's fun to shake it up and try new versions!
NSM-So glad you're here and posting. Just hop right back into the groove. You got this! Just don't let it spiral out of control. You ARE worth it. Life happens. We all have obligations, but you gotta make time for your health or you won't be able to do all the other things you need to do. You knwo all this, but I just wanted to encourage you to keep on truckin', baby!
mystical-It's a joy to have you here as well! You can and WILL get back on track. I just know you'll beat this crazy sickness and get back to your routine in no time, even if it's rough at first. Take good care of yourself, hon!
I'm SO glad I got all my exercise in today, and I'm on feeling very good. I may come back down to reality quickly since tomorrow I have a long run ahead of me and I still have a little tension in my calves, but I trust it'll work itself out. 'Night , ladies!

Good evening all! Just got out of the shower after my evening workout! It turns out I miss working out before bed! Who knew?
Jacque~ honestly, I'm not sure why on earth I bought it--but I have a vegetarian friend who I'm sure eats it so I'll hit her up for some ideas. We were at her house on Saturday and the bbq'd soy hot dogs--hubby tried them, one of my girls tried them and they both declared them 'yuicky' (that's toddler speak for yucky/icky )--I don't think I'll be buying those.
Mystical~ Did you find out the calorie difference between the chicken & turkey? Fitday.com is where I go when Google fails me. Ahem, correct me if I'm wrong, but did you just ask for a ? I mean, I don't want to start beatin' ya over the head if you don't want it--but I'm pretty sure you asked for it...so...here goes: Listen up chickie! You need to get yourself feeling well! Drink plenty of water, get some more vitamin C in ya! Then you need to buckle down and eat healthy! We know you want to, but now you gotta prove it to us!!! Take a deep breath, and just do it! Let's go, let's go, let's go!!!!! Whew! That's a lot tougher to do when I'm not PMS'ing! Nah, but seriously, give yourself a little break--you just moved into a new house, you're unpacking and settling in, you're all messed up with allergies and now a cold? Do the best you can--eat healthy and exercise, but if you feel awful--take care of yourself! Sleep, rest--ya know, get better! You'll be back to 100% in no time, I just know it!
Susie~ so glad to see you checking in hun! How goes it?
Tummy~ soy and goat cheese--now that sounds absolutely delish!!! I don't know if I'm ever gunna be that brave! If you think me looking forward to my run tomorrow is amazing--get this--I did some 8 Wk HIIT tonight!!! And know what else? I loved it!!! And after only one week of doing the C25K I felt so much stronger doing the HIIT! I was running faster than I ever have 6.5-6.7 and when I walked it was much faster too. And--I was barely out of breath even at the end! Which is a big deal!! Anyway, it hit me that you're doing HIIT and running 40+ mins and I figured, 'hey why can't my cardio be HIIT?' so that's what it's gunna be. So thanks for the inspiration chickie!!
NSM~ Ooooh, now how could you forget to take care of you?? You mustn't do that young lady! Nope, you need to remember that you need attention and care too! You deserve to be healthy and strong and feeling fantastic hun! If your schedule is going to get hectic--make adjustments! If that means you have to wake up earlier to work out--then make sure you go to bed earlier too! Make time for you--you deserve it!!!
MsP~ Hmm, now that's interesting! I've never heard that before (I've never researched soy stuff before either ) I'll definitely be checking into that--I'm having enough stalling issues as it is, I don't need anything else messin' with my weight loss! Oooh, you've got a good chili recipe too? Well spill it chickie!! I love mine too, but hubby complains every time I make it because there's no meat in it. The only time he squawked more was when I made split pea soup without all the ham and stuff--just plain ol' split peas--he was so disappointed. I'm sure your calves will loosen up on the run, but if you start to tighten up, take it easy! No charlie horses allowed!!!!
Well girls, it was one heck of an afternoon! I am soooo ready for school to start tomorrow! I NEEDED to do some cardio tonight after the insane afternoon the kids put me through! I feel much better now--all calm and serene...oh, and clean too!
Tomorrow's the Big Day! First Day of School and all that. Hubby will be going into work a little late so that he can see the boys off. I'm nervous about my youngest ds, he needs to eat like every 2 hrs or he gets cranky and moody...I used to half to pack snacks for him for half day kinder and he was only there 3 1/2 hours!!! So, I'll be packing him a HUGE lunch and making sure that I get in to chat with his teacher asap! He's super excited though--I'm so relieved for that because I was worried he was going to get nervous, but so far, so good!
Anyway, I'll probably be late posting tomorrow so in case you check in and I haven't yet, be sure to...
Drink Your Water!!!
Okay girls, have a great night and sleep well!!! See you tomorrow!

I haven't posted in a while- August has been a busy month! Monday is my usual weigh-in day, but I skipped it today because of lovely TOM and the fact that I spent the weekend on an eating tour of Brooklyn, New York! Well, at least I walked a LOT. I embarked on this whole weight loss plan the day after my last visit to New York, and i definitely felt a lot better about myself, having lost 13 pounds. If I gained a pound or two back, so be it, I had a wonderful time with my best friend and I don't regret a bite. But tonight it was back to cabbage and lentils. (my larder is bare- time to restock on veggies!)
by the way, i love tofu. i'll post a few recipes when i get settled back in. also, i LOVE tempeh! i use it in veggie chili, among other things. it has a very meaty, chewy texture. i eat meat, but i rarely cook it myself. i live alone and i have a tiny fridge/freezer- tofu and tempeh keep better for me, and are so versatile.
maybe tomorrow i'll be brave enough to get back on the scale. or i might just give myself a couple days for the bloating to pass.
hope everyone is having a great summer!

Sorry no time for personals tonight, but I will get to it tomorrow at work. I had a very exhausting day, but I think thats how most Mondays go for me. Anyways, its funny how much water I have been able to throw back and it makes such a difference. I actually feel lighter. I know that water is crucial for WL, but I think its finally hit home for me. Well, goodnite and talk to everyone tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the advice I truly appreciate it and I really like the idea of keeping the 64oz water bottle with me I can’t stand filling up glasses! So I went ahead and bought a case of green tea I am also going to try the apple cider vinegar with a glass of orange juice daily I will give an update on how it works for me...who knows maybe the 10lbs on my *** will melt off... oh sorry.. A girl can dream right. Well just finished working out... I am doing great with exercising but the diet of course is a constant struggle I am thinking of just zapping myself every time I want something fattening cuz I have no will power... jk... but seriously...jk.. Wow bored lol! Is the tofu thing vegetarian or does it have other benefits? Well, good luck everyone and have a great day!!

Ladies I'm off to a late start. Power outage last night meant no alarm clock this morning and now I'm so behind here. I'll check back in when the boys are off and I'm caught up. Have a great day ladies.

Helloooo chickies! (Are there any men here? If so, sorry!)
MsP - I teach high school Biology. I started looking into the transition a couple weeks ago and I'm going to be fine food wise, my breaks at work fell just right so that I'll be able to eat as frequently as I have been. The exercise is going to be tough, but I can manage. I dislike working out in the afternoon so I'm going to try to keep that to 2 days a week (mon and weds) tues, thurs is c25k which I'll do in the morning and then I'm going to try to squeeze curves in on friday before work because otherwise I KNOW it won't get done. How did your kids like their teachers?
Tummy - You paint such lovely mental pictures! haha. Congrats on being down on a Monday! I think that's kind of rare for a lot of us...
Shasha - Woohoo on maintaining over the weekend! That's not easy to do!
Delphi - Good luck with the paint! And look at you being all saucy! Did you start week 2 yet?
cmo4 - I use ground turkey allll the time in stuff like chili. You honestly can't tell a difference in things like that and I find I can get ground turkey in those frozen tubes farrr cheaper than I can get the extra lean ground beef. Also, the only thing I've ever done with tofu is poke at it and laugh uncomfortably... so I'm no help there.
NSM - You know, I applaud you for recognizing you're losing the "me" attitude. There is a time for others, but there also has to be a time for YOU! You can get back into it, I know it.
mystical - Allergies! Doh! I hate them. They can make you sooo miserable. Feel better! I'll let cmo4 do all the tough talking... she seems good at it. hehe
Oh my... I think I'm caught up. Whew! Well, I did day one of week 2 of the c25k this morning. I was sooo worried I wouldn't be able to do it but I did just fine! I did slow my pace, I think.. but I was having pacing issues all last week. It seemed as though I'd speed up and slow down and speed up and slow down and it was so frustrating. I think I maintained the same pace the entire time so that is encouraging. I'm feeling a bit empowered that I was able to complete it so I'm all giddy and happy (or maybe it's the endorphins... who cares).
So many things I should be doing to get ready for work but I'm not gonna do a single one and I'm just going to work my butt off during the institutes. It's nice to have enough years in now that I don't panic over not being 100% prepared, I know all my tricks and I know my content and I know my lessons and everything else falls into place.
Hope everyone has a great day!

SG-The kids both loved their teachers. My DD found a group of friends already, but she's like that...very good socially. My DS found a friend and was so happy, because I think that was his biggest concern. So, all is well for this week....I hope!
Delphi-Bummer about the power outage, but at least you got up in time to get your little men off to school. Not bad!
I feel like I'm back on track today. My weight is close to where I want it for this point in the month and my exercise is coming along nicely. I mentioned in the exer. thread that I'm trying a new dvd today to see if I need to add some pilates into my schedule when I change things up next time. Now I need to go clean off my dresser which has become the drop zone for every paper and trinket that I didn't have a place for. I'm cleaning my room in "zones" because it's gotten to be so cluttered with prepping for school and with all my workout weights and things. Normally, I am a pretty tidy person, but that's out the window right now, living at the in-laws. I only have so much space to operate in!
P.S. I got to add a new smilie to my ticker..another 5# bites the dust, baby!

Gooooooooooooood Morning Ladies!!!!
It's the first day of school and the boys are probably sitting in class getting to know their teachers as I type! My youngest was so excited!!! My oldest was a total grouch! He woke up at 5:00 and never got back to sleep so he's going to have a tough day if he doesn't perk up. Oh well, I'm sure seeing his friends again will help.
Okay, time for personals:
pucedaisy~ yay! I'm glad you have some tofu recipes to share--like I said, I'm clueless! Sounds like you had a fun time in NY! I'm glad you're not going to beat yourself up over a couple of vacation lbs--sometimes you just have to live it up!
shasha~ woo hoo! Another water lover!! Good for you getting it all in! In the past when I've fallen off the wagon, it's always been that water consumption was the first thing to go. So now when I notice I'm not getting in all my water in for no good reason (like I'm in a car all day or super crazy busy and just forget...), I make sure the second I notice it that I fill up my bottle and chug! It not only keeps my hydrated, but fills me up so that if there was a temptation to eat--it'll be knocked out cold! Have a great day!
twilightfan~ apple cider and orange juice? I must have missed that--I'll have to go back and read the posts. I'm like you, I hate filling up glasses all day long! So it's a big ol' jug for me! You mentioned getting a case of green tea--be careful when buying prepared teas, hubby just had a 20oz lemon iced tea last night and noticed that the bottle was 2.5 servings--he drank it all and in the process downed over 200 calories!
Delphi~ man power outages stink! Glad you got the boys off to school on time though! Have you done your C25K yet this morning? I like the podcast for the first one better than the second one, but it's all good.
SG~ Hahahaha! 'Poke at it and laugh uncomfortably' That's hysterical! Yeah, I bet I'll be the same way when I open up the package and actually have to touch it. I got my C25K in today! So great that you breezed through it! I'm doing mine on a treadmill so keeping my pace the same is relatively easy (wouldn't be if I was outside though I'm sure!), but my issue is going to be with stamina. I am very nervous about how I'm going to be able to handle the longer running times...but, one week at a time right? I made it through today and didn't drop dead so I guess that's a good sign right?
MsP~ Congrats on the new smilie!!!! 45 lbs!!!! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!! I am so proud of you!!! Have fun cleaning your dresser , I have a lot of cleaning ahead of me today too. Things kind of got out of hand the last few days of Summer.
Well ladies, as I mentioned, it's the first day of school. Hubby went to work a little late so that he could see the boys off and help out if need be. I planned on waking up at 5:30 and working out, but after a cruddy night of sleep and realizing that I didn't *have* to wake up that early since hubby was home I slept until 6:00. I learned that I will not be able to do that tomorrow! In fact, I'll probably have to wake up closer to 5:00! Ugh... Delphi, send me some of your special Early Morning Wake Up Dust!!!!
I'm really getting irked with my HRM!! I can't take a reading during my workouts at all! And um, I'm thinking that's when I need to be able to do it right? Yeah. So hubby suggested that I exchange it and I probably will. I need to see what else Target has and if I can't find anything I'll have to start shopping around.
Okay, now for some fanfreakin'tastic news!!!
Ladies, I have MADE MY GOAL!!!! I stepped on the scale and was met with 149.4 today!!! Do you know what that means? It means that my BMI is now at 24.9!!!!! NORMAL!!! OMG! Normal?! Yes!!! It's been far too long girls, far too long.
I could NOT have done this without you all! This group has been one of the biggest sources of inspiration, support, friendship and humor I've ever belonged to!!! Each and every one of you, from oldies to newbies are just amazing! I cannot thank you all enough for everything that you've done for me. *sniff* Seriously, I know I'm a big goof, but you gotta know that I appreciate you all so very, very much!!!
Now that I've reached my goal, I'll be setting a new one--so you're still stuck with me girls! Well, I'm off to change my ticker, add a new goal and then get some much needed housework done! Have a wonderful day girls and thank you again and again and again from the bottom of my heart!!!
Now, get out there and have a great day! And of course, be sure to...
Drink Your Water!!!

woo-hoo. Everyone is doing well. I am up a pound unofficially. I think it is because of the picnic on Sunday and just water weight. The food was more salty than I was used to.
Anyway ran with hubby again last night so I get to fix that.
My son had 6th grade orientation today He started middle school and he was SOOOO excited. He woke up on his own and pushed us to the door. You don't understand what I feat that is. He never gets up in the morning!

Ok, action steps:
1. plan daily meals in detail
2. plan and record workouts as appointments in my day planner
3. keep my water bottle with me at all times (and drink from it )
4. get a scale for BF's house
The last one it because (like many of you) I work better when I weigh myself every day, but I've been spending more time at the boyfriend's house and he doesn't own a scale. He weighs 130 lbs soaking wet.
