I'm doing awful. I keep craving salt, salt, and more salt. I don't know what's going on, but it's hard to eat normally when you just want to stick your head on a salt lick!
The only thing I'm doing right is exercise. I think I've got the January exercise challenge licked!
At least you're sticking with the exercise, julie! That's always important. I'm doing "ok" with exercise but really need to kick it up if I want to even lose one pound in the stupid challenge, hehe.
Today was a bridal expo. Taste-sampled 2 different pieces of cake (but the pieces are about bite-sized) and a little bit of potato salad (about 2 bites) and a bite-sized piece of steak. Yummmm. I could have stood by the cake samples all day. I love cake. Especially wedding cake.
Anyway, I did ok with a 516 calorie deficit today. If the formula works, I'm well over a 4,000 calorie-deficit so in theory I should be 1 pound down when my TOM bloating wears off. I just may burst a blood vessel if not.
Good morning everyone!!! Wow, I haven't posted on this thread in about a week now and boy oh boy has this place EXPLODED!!!! Lots of chatting going on. Sorry I mised out.
The reason I didn't post was that I was having a difficult time counting my calories. I most certainly watched them quite well, but as far as the actual counting - not so much. The reason is I had a week of nibbling. Quite a bit in fact. It was all healthy foods, I'm not concerned that I went over my calorie allotment for any given day. I skipped a meal or two to compensate (stupidly so). I'm down 2 1/2 lbs for the week so there really was no problem in that area. Managed to exercise pretty decently.
I have finally come to the realization that I am a nibbler, no ifs ands or buts about it. And I just can't or probably should say won't stop for the time being, maybe if and when I get to that plateau that would be a good time to stop. I leave plenty of room in my day for the extra calories. Breakfast is about 200 calories, lunch about 300 and dinner anywhere from 350-500. And I usually have 2 planned snacks as well that come to about 120 calories. So there is definitely room for some nibbling. My nibbles consist of 1/2 cucumber, a teensy tinsy handful of dry cereal, 4 or 5 pistachio nuts, a couple of strawberries and the such. And for now that's fine with me. So, I haven't decided yet if I continue to post on this thread if I will actually ADD up all my actual calories for the day. We shall see.
I haven't read most of last week's post, so I've got some catching up to do. Looking forward to posting here again and reacquainting myself with you guys.
rockinrobin ... maybe, since whatever you are doing is obviously working, careful counting can be your next step. Ya know how folks talk about baby steps?
You are losing and losing well! If things slow up ... careful counting can be your next tweak.
We have a beautiful countryside this morning, lots of white, fluffy snow! Yippee! I'm going to make this post short, ha ha! Quatoncita... Good luck on your new adventure here at 3FC! It's a great site! Mary aka Petra... Calories at 1112, fantastic! I made your grill cheese sandwiches last nite. I used the zero cooking spray on the pan and both sides of the low calories bread. It browned up beautifully and I also used a new find in cheese. It's called "Veggie Chipotle", with peppers and spices in it. One oz is 60 calories and plenty cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. Lindy... 1196 calories, 3.9 mile run plus 120 minutes of exercise. Why aren't you skin and bones? Wish I had your love of exercise. Diva... 3 cheers for you! Wow, big loss (3.6). I bet you were smiling all day, all your hard work and exercise really paid off. About Fitday, I put one serving of Fiber One in my "Favorties" section and it's been registering my calories correctly all along. Then a few days ago it went Haywire for some reason, so I deleted it and entered it again into my custom, then favorites. It's working correctly again! I can see why you don't trust it. Susan... Nice to hear from you again after your vacation. Imenonelse... You mentioned "Radishes, Yum" in your last post. A few years ago DH and I went to a fancy party that had unusual hors d'oeuvre. One of them was crustless toast points spread with real butter and sliced radishes, salt and course ground pepper. That's it! Something about the radishes and butter that make them good. I make them with "Smart Squeeze" oleo on low calorie toast (I leave the crust on) and sliced radishes, fresh ground pepper. Sometimes when I need something crunchy to munch on, these satisfy me. Since you like radishes so much, give this a try. Sakuya... Congrats on your 1 pound loss. You're smart planning two weeks of menus and only buying that at the grocery store. That's really the key to losing weight, don't buy junk food, only planned healthy foods. Fl-Mom... Good walk/jog you had! How do you calculate the exercise in 4 wheelers? You must burn lots of calories and use muscles you don't normally use. I've never been on one but they look fun! Julie... Does drinking gallons of water curb your salt appetite? I just noticed your exercise ticker, that's a good idea. I think I'll set one up after the Valentine's challenge is over. My post are long enough without adding another ticker right now.
My Sunday's Journal I'll shorten up: 1200 calories and 29%Fat. (Thanks to almonds, I can reach 1200 on the button.) This is a weird menu but I don't cook much on Sunday's. Breakfast; vit/Fiber One/ Flatout with pizza sauce & Elk: 237 calories. Lunch; Left-over pizza and 3 bean salad. 290 calories. Supper; Grilled cheese sandwich, pork n' bean and peanut soup calories 374 Evening snack; Pineapple Fluff with cool whip, 4 almonds and 8oz milk, 2 teaspoon Olive oil calories 299 Have a "Healthy Eatting Day"!
Well yesterday my count was about 860. I know it's low. I didn't do much but I did excerise. It's hard for me to eat alot on Sundays. But I did cook (I don't cook much) skinless chicken breast. They were really good.
So I did not go to work today, and their is no school we actually got our first winter snowfall . We have about 4 inches, dh is out there snowblowing as I type. The kids can't wait to go out and make snow angels and snowmen. I have already done my excerising. I lost another .6 lb, even with it being my tom!! I am very surprised about that. Well gotta get ready to play in the snow.
Mary
Hi, all! Bobbo-I do love to exercise. My theory is that I'm serotonin deficient (just a theory) so that my body craves either 1) sweets/carbs or 2) excess food or 3) exercise because all three of those can supposedly raise serotonin levels. Who knows? The thing is, I'm not skin and bones because of numbers 1 and 2!!
Congrats to all on your weight loss. Most of you seem to be doing well, and I'm excited for you. Julie, just ride it out! You'll get through your salt kick!!
Yesterday (Sunday) went well. Sundays are usually my hardest day, so I'm pleased with that. Had approx 1200 calories of healthy foods, ran 4.0 miles, did 60 minutes on the elliptical.
Hope you guys have a good one! SmartButt, hang tough, the scale is sure to drop soon!
Hi, I haven't posted on this thread in a while but I have a friend that will be joining us here at Calorie Counters. And we need to give her a nice welcome.
Her name is Lynn and we were in Lifetime Losers, on the 3-hr. diet for quite awhile...that site no longer exists. So I have bragged about how nice this group is and she will be joining us.
Glad to see familiar faces are still here.....I joined the Valentine Day 10lb. challenge and still trying there. Will start posting my calories again.
" Fl-Mom... Good walk/jog you had! How do you calculate the exercise in 4 wheelers? You must burn lots of calories and use muscles you don't normally use. I've never been on one but they look fun!"
Bobbi - I have no idea how to enter it in Fit Day - but I can tell you it defintely uses muscles I haven't used in awhile!! I am sore today!!!
Calories are a little low today - I may look into some almonds - I have never been a big nut eater... I did my walk/jog 2.5 miles and regular stuff...
Calories - 1006 - 23% fat
Everyone is home today - MLK day so we have been at the playground and playing tennis.... I can't get over this weather!!! 80 degrees in January!! Go Figure!! But we are enjoying every minute of it!!!
Today is a much better day for me. Calories will be a bit low but after yesterday that is a good thing! I already got in 60 minutes on the stationary bike (480 calories burned) and need to do my weights (~150 calories burned) and I might do a little dancing tonight if I feel up to it. I have alot of energy and not much appetite today but I think that's because yesterday was so high.
Good news about yesterday even thought I calculated to be around 3800 calories (!! we had no power and nothing but oatmeal cookies, crackers and chips, I rounded everything up so it's probably not actually that bad but I'd rather assume higher than lower) is I exercised even though it was my rest day. That is an extra 370 cals I wouldn't have burned this week - go me!
Breakfast: South Beach Diet Peanut butter bar (140) Lunch: 222g ffsf vanilla yogurt, 62g all bran (239) Snack: chocolate protein bar, apple (263) Snack: brownie made with pumpkin (212) Dinner: Tuna with lemon juice and romaine, tilapia fillet (278)
Totals:
Calories: 1134
Exercise: 60 minutes stationary bike, 40 minutes upper body lifting, 20-30 minutes DDR (haven't done that yet)
Total calories for the day are 643 with 25% coming from fat. I love these light days when my body says "you don't need all this food". Amazing how increasing fiber makes it so much easier to stick to the 1200 - 1300 range.
Anyway, total deficit for January is 7333 which translates to 2.09 pounds.
My daughter (a nutritionist and RD) had her first baby in October and she's already training for a marathon. Youth! She's nursing full time and told me that two cups of water weigh one pound. So nursing mothers are always carrying around an extra four to six pounds of water so that they can produce milk.
I know there are a lot of nursing mothers here and I wanted to pass this along.
As for the water weight, she said that you have to take the lowest weight and use that as your true weight, and that any fluctuation during the day is water. You cannot possibly gain three pounds of fat in one or two days unless you have just binged for twelve hours straight while lying in bed.
