Smile Hello to each of you!

Hi. I'm Selina. I'm a mom and I stay super busy, as most of us do. I have been losing for about 2 good years now. My husband was ill, I had a preemie newborn who ate every other hour for months, a toddler son and watched several other kids as well when I started gaining some back in 2005. I'm happy to say that we have a new home (still unpacking), husband is better, baby (19 mos) is sleeping mostly all nite long now, and I'm committed to getting the rest of this off me!

I like drinking 64 oz of water (yes, I do know more is way better but I always feel like my eyeballs are floating when I drink more.) I like eating 1200-1400 cals a day and if I know I'll be eating out more one day in the future, I like 'saving up some' to use then by eating a few less for a few days. I had dropped 79 by Spring '05. Then in June so much was going on I lost focus and had no time to worry about myself. I have managed to keep off 37 lbs. or so. I will have to take it slow as I'm still very, very busy with my daily life, but I have to do this.

Thanks for listening and I am committing to this plan. I also am using a journal to write all my info down in. That worked best for me last time. Hope you all have a great week!!

to the thread, Soon2be! This is a great forum for support and advice, as well as just keeping track of what we've eaten, how much we've exercised, etc. Also a great place to vent!

Congratulations on the weight loss so far! And your pic is gorgeous! I hate to sound cliche, but for 240 lbs, you "carry it well". Don't smack me for saying that please

Hi Smart! Thanks for the compliment. And I would never smack ya for that! That's sweet. I probably weighed closer to 225 there, but ah well. I sure don't wanna remember being back up here at 240 so Imma leave it. LOL.

I like this thread alot already. I read many posts on it before I posted, and I could tell you all are very positive and I like that. If I didn't think positively, I'd go under! LOL.

Here is how it went today. I did ok on calories. Had some dry cereal in the am, maybe 150 cals, with water. Then Olive Garden, ate one chicken parmigiana piece, removed the cheese, ate a square of lasagna, had tea with s & low. And that's it for the day. But I'm not writing down til I start it back tomorrow. I was gone all day, it was picture day for my son's team, then the game, then eating out with our exchange student and our kids, (he leaves to go back to Brazil tomorrow after 5 months here.) We are all sad. So it's not a good day for me to begin again, but I'm not going to say I'll start Monday! I hate that! LOL. I also began again (and have lost a little since) Dec. 26. I didn't wait til New Years to begin again. I know waiting never helps getting used to it all. LOL.

I have walked 6,326 steps today, hopefully can get back on the treadmill to get to 7,000. (This included all day plus over 15 mins on the t.mill so far). I wear a pedometer every day. (Best thing I ever did in 2004 was start this habit. And when one breaks, if I don't go get another, I start slacking in my walking, lol.) Gonna try to get back to my 10,000 a day. I walked over 1 million steps in 3 months in 2005. Dunno what I'm at lately but will know now!

I still need more water and to start journaling my food, etc. It really does help me.

Well, sorry for rambling on! Hope you all are doing well today.

Total calories for the day - 1277. I don't have my total deficit in front of me but it's getting there.

Gonna settle in and watch The Illusionist now. No calories there. :-)

Not much of a deficit today (better than yesterday). A gal I work with makes an amazing crab salad. I wonder if I could tweak her recipe.

I had a terrible day today with calories. I was trying to eat light at home because I knew we were going to a friend's house for dinner.

One person brought a couple different appetizers that were just irresistable. I wound up having 3 of these muffin-bite type of things with some kind of cream cheese in them, and 1 of these hot-dog-wrapped-in-bacon-dipped-in-maple-syrup bite-sized pieces that was just begging to reside on my thighs.

Dinner was 2 spare ribs, a bit too much mashed potatoes (a weakness), a small piece of bread with butter, and a small portion of spinach salad w/avocado and dried cranberries. The worst part? Dessert. I wasn't even going to have any, but the hostess brought out the plates of cake with a huge gob of vanilla ice cream and set it in front of each person at the table. It was my first time meeting everyone and I didn't want to stand out or be rude. I ate the ice cream and about half the piece of cake.

I feel kinda lame because this wouldn't be how I would have chosen to use these calories. I have an overage now for today just because I couldn't figure out how to say "no i don't want that" when i'm at a stranger's house and they slap food down in front of me.

How would you ladies have handled it? They already knew we're trying to diet, and I don't think they were being mean... just not thinking.

I usually serve myself what I want to eat and feel very unashamed to pass on anything that does not suit me. If someone were to serve me I wouldn't hesitate to tell them yes to this or no to that.

It would be no different than refusing alcohol when I'm the driver.

You don't have to explain yourself or anything... just eat what you know to be the right thing for you to eat.

and I don't think they were being mean... just not thinking.... Precisely! No one is thinking about what YOU need. So it's up to you to think for yourself.

You'll get 'em next time. You'll see!

;-)

Hello everyone
Well my calories are defiently up yesterday!!! I had 1660. Some of that comes from Michelob Ultra. I don't get out much so I think that like one day a week of beer ain't going to hurt. But I have good news!!! I got on the scale this morning I am down to 169.6!!!!

Bobbi Great Job on the weight loss, I told ya it would show up. I can imagine still being sore.

A good Sunday to you all,

Welcome Selina, glad to have you on board.

Smartbutt, a tough night you had. sounds like you had some real tempting high calorie food in front of you. Those hot dog things sure do sound beckoning. I know what you mean, it's kinda hard to turn down people you barely know. I'm not sure what I would have done. I would like to think I'd say, no thank you, but I just don't know for sure. I would just move on and forget about yesterday, it's history, over and done with. These things happen from time to time.

Petra, Good going on your scale numbers!!!!

Susan, I LOVE crab salad. YUM

Saturday's calories - about 1250

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies.

I just noticed that with my 7 lb weight loss, my BMI has gone from "obese" to just "overweight". Yay! A step in the right direction, at least.

Great job SmartButt!!!(on the BMI) as far as the other night I think you handled yourself well in that situation.... but next time maybe try 1 appetizer and then that will save some calories for later!!?? I don't know- just a suggestion.

Today calories look like 1220 - 4 mile WATP dvd

Getting menu's planned for this week and snacks packed so I don't have anymore 700 days!!!

HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY Everyone!!

OH YEAH - Welcome Selena!!! Glad to have you join us!!!
