Petra aka Mary...Grill Cheese sandwiches brings back fond memories for me. I came from a family of 7 and every Sunday nite we had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. My mom said that was her day off and wasn't going to cook a big meal. I haven't made them in a long time, I don't think they would taste as good frying them in cooking spray, yuk. My mom used butter on both sides. What do you use to keep them lower in calores?

Bobbi-
I just make them with regular bread and cheese, I don't put butter on it and I cook it on a foreman grill. Sure it flattens it out, but they taste just fine.

So today is probably going to be boring, DH had to go to work. So it is just me and the kids, it's too cold to go outside. We are suppose to get snow starting tomorrow afternoon, so the kids can't wait for that. Hasn't really snowed here in Michigan yet this winter, but hey I ain't complaining!!! LOL I hate driving in it. Well I am going to try and find something to watch until my shows come on at 3.

All this talk about grilled cheese gave me a craving, so I poked around to see what I had in the fridge that I could substitute but still have the essential taste of grilled cheese. I took half of a whole wheat pita (40 calories) and cut it open so it was two flat moon-halves, and threw it into a cast iron skillet on medium high to get it started heating. Then I took about a little over a 1/4 cup of lowfat shredded cheddar cheese (100 calories) and sprinkled it on top. I turned the broiler on in my oven, and when I thought the bottom of the pita was well-heated, I popped the skillet under the broiler and let the cheese melt and bubble. I took it out and, because I love mayo (and didn't use any butter or cooking spray), I put a tablespoon of low-fat mayo (45 calories) on one side and spread it around, then put the two cheese sides together and ate it like a sandwich.

It was sooooo good, and only 185 calories! Curbed that craving.

I started on Feb 2, 2006. I took about a month and a half stint off though in there. I did lose all of the weight with calorie counting. I believe it is the only way to go!

This week has been a very lazy week I only got 30 minutes of excersize and ate a few things I shouldn't have. Like french fries, peanut butter and chinese food! I love chinese food

According to fitday I'm still eating around 1300 calories but it's probably because I'm skipping breakfast and eating lunch around 2pm which is how late I'm waking up these days. I really need a job. Last monday I was down 4 pounds! Hopefully I will have the same luck this week. Today I ate 1 cup of honey bunches of oats and a slim fast. Later I'm having stewed chicken with peas and carrots and rice.

Well my count for today is 1112. I thought it would be more but I will go with that.

Smartbutt: That grill cheese sounds awesome!! If only I knew how to cook I would give it a try, lol. I have no idea how to even work a brolier, nor if my stove even has one.

Hi!

Today went well, but low-calorie again. I may keep it low for a little while, we'll see.

B: ww tortilla with 1/4 T peanut butter, strawberries, greek yogurt
S: clementine
L: roasted asparagus, sauteed mushrooms, egg beaters, lf swiss cheese
S: spaghetti squash, mushrooms, 1 laughing cow light cheese triangle
D: chicken breast, roasted green beans, homemade spiced cranberry sauce
S: ww tortilla with 1/4 T peanut butter, greek yogurt

Total calories: 1196

Exercise: 3.9 mile run, 60 minutes weightlifting, 60 minutes elliptical

Sundays are usually the hardest for me, since the whole family is home and in "relax and play" mode. We'll see how it goes...

Total calories today came to 1536 with 22% coming from fat.

Ran and lifted today and blew through 700+ calories just on that.

Bobbi,

I never use FitDay's foods. I don't trust it. I take everything off the label on the food, and those things unlabelled (eggs, meat, fish) I research on my own.

The 10g difference you report on Fiber One could be a quantity error. Be sure you entered the right quantity. FitDay doesn't always default to what you last used (cup vs. liter, for example). I'll be your problem is there.

;-)

Lindy - way to go on all that exercise & the low calories, looks like you're back on track!

After a 700 calorie overage yesterday (ouch!!!) I have a 1400 calorie deficit today. I ate 924 calories and did 3.1 miles on the treadmill. Woo! I know the calories are low, but I woke up late so I skipped breakfast. Just as well - that crap I ate late last night was probably still digesting anyway.

Hi folks! I'm going to count a bit more sturdily for a few days to get back in the groove after Christmas and a vacation. I really gathered up some sloppy flab

So for yesterday 1662 in and 2449 out. My percentages were not good but I did work, walk and do light weights.
It feels good to type that! Thanks for being here.

Hello everyone!
Welcome to the thread, SusanB! Lets work off those holiday pounds, together!

SmartButt: The grilled cheese sounds fabulous....
Bobbi-Fit Day is always wrong for me, too

Hello to everyone else...
Yesterday went well. I didn't measure everything out as well as I should have, but I didn't go crazy on portions. I am going to get back at counting every single calorie on monday, but I know I have been doing well based on the portion sizes and what I put into my meals...
For breakfast I had another egg bake square with some WW berried low-fat english muffin. I just discovered them and they are delicious and not unreasonable.....
For Lunch I had my classic quesadilla but I added some guacamole and black beans to it...
For a snack I had a hersheys kiss (just one, I promise), and some radishes (yum!)...
And for dinner I had a PB&J (It's been cold here in California lately, and since it has been cold, my migraines have been becoming more frequent (they are triggered by the cold)) hence, I was too achey to think of anything other than a PB&J... It was whole wheat bread at least, lol.... and I wasn't even hungry I just knew that I had to eat more for the day...

I got a 30 minute walk in with my puppy, but no strength training so I am going to work on that today!

Take care everyone!!

SusanB- Hi! I've missed you around here! I hadn't seen you on any of the threads for a little while... I guess that was while you were on vacation. Good to see you back. Good for you for posting and keeping an eye on calories... the pounds will come right back off, knowing how hard you work at it!

I've been high both today and yesterday, but I still have lost 1lb in the last week so go me! I have all my meals planned out for the next two weeks so it should be easier to stay on track because when I go grocery shopping I am only buying what I have planned!
