  • hey ladies, new here
yesterday was really my first day 'back'. i'm trying to not beat myself up as i have so long to go. i did not have a great food day, but i did do well with water and exercise. i know i will not make all my changes successfully overnight. Hoping to make better food choices today.
    hugs and good luck everyone.
tracyg (just because i think he's cute tee hee!)
  • Hi Petra.......I seem to post about the same time you do and I miss your post. Great calories (1114) and my calore counts are usually off with Fitday too. I had to play with them this morning to make them come out. You have to click on the last line of fitday sometimes for the last food you typed in to be included in the total. Does that make sense???
I forgot to post a cute joke that was sent to me this morning.
"A Lady in a restaurant ordering food from a waiter"
Potato chips aren't rubber and blubber like fat. They're crispy and crunchy like lettuce. That proves they're diet food, right?

My doc told me to start my exercise program very gradually. Today I drove past a store that sells sweat pants.

    Bobbi
  • Bobbi - I usually like to eat raw, plain nuts, but I am eating some dry roasted almonds right now because they were on sale one week for $3 for a bag with about 20 servings, which is CHEAP for almonds, at least in my area. They usually run about $6 per bag. I don't really count sodium too much though... I don't have problems with water retention and I don't have high blood pressure so it's not a big deal for me at this point in my life.

Petra - GREAT JOB resisting going for fast food! I have alot of trouble with that sometimes. I wish I could replicate how good some of that fast food tastes at home.

Tracy - You are right to understand that it may take awhile to get back on track. After Christmas time I was way off track and it took me a few weeks to get back on. I've had a pretty good week, especially the last few days, but it definately was a challenge.
  • Good morning ladies!
Bobbi- Lol, no I have not been scared away from posting my calories, I have just been a little lax when it comes to making my calorie count exact these past couple of days. I think I post right after you do, so maybe you aren't seeing my posts??

Yesterday was a good day. I had an egg-bake for breakfast which was basically like an egg white omelette but I bake it in the oven in a pan so that I have leftovers. I put blackbeans, corn, peppers, onions, and spinach in it.. For lunch I had a quesadilla with low fat cheese, whole wheat tortilla, cilantro, onion, and some avocado... for my snack I had some wheat thins (shhh... not the best but I only ate about 6), and for dinner I had a calzone. In my calzone I use a whole wheat pita pocket, skim mozerella cheese, calorie-watchers ragu, bell peppers, onions, and some olives. It tastes great and is great for you ....
I didn't count calories but it is probably around my usual mark..
I am a little disappointed with myself for not getting in all of the exercise in that I wanted to, but I ended up getting a migraine which kind of put a damper on things...
    have a great day everyone!!!
  • Imenonelse - Your calzone sounds great! I'm going to try that!

Charlene - Hope it's going well with your Mom!

After my ROUGH day Wednesday, Thursday was a doozy too. I'd planned to get right back on track, but we ended up with a very surprising snow day, my exercise class was canceled, I couldn't run in the snow/ice, and thus... my excuses all made perfect sense to me at the time!

But today went fine. Low on calories due to no hunger due to lots of food previous two days.

    B: No breakfast.
L: Egg beaters with wilted spinach and sauteed mushrooms, lf swiss cheese, and a sprinkle of parmesan.

    S: Strawberries and greek yogurt.

Total for the day: 1111 calories.

Ran 4.0 miles, did 60 minutes on elliptical and 60 minutes step aerobics.

    Feeling good!

  • Total calories for yesterday were 1066 with 27% coming from fat.

Total deficit for January - 5,279 calories
  • Total Calories for yesterday 1352 according to my calculations. 1312 according to Fitday. I didn't get much excerise done because of the fact that my DH didn't tell me that he was going to be working late, and I was planning on him getting supper last night. So when I got home (which is about 6 pm) I had to get the kids around and run back into town to get supper. Then I had no energy for excerise (it sometimes can take a lot out of you when you have to take my son somewhere), so I decide to do some laundry well I got a burst of energy and got it all almost done, which was like 5 loads waiting to be folded and I got 3 more washed and folded. If that wasn't enough I also cleaned the bathroom. I had to have burned some calories with all that up down, lol. Since most you don't really know me, I hate folding clothes so I really have to be in the mood to do that!! LOL Well I hope that everyone does good thru the weekend.
  • Good Morning Again, just wanted to do some personal chatting.
Petra aka Mary...Grill Cheese sandwiches brings back fond memories for me. I came from a family of 7 and every Sunday nite we had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. My mom said that was her day off and wasn't going to cook a big meal. I haven't made them in a long time, I don't think they would taste as good frying them in cooking spray, yuk. My mom used butter on both sides. What do you use to keep them lower in calores?
Tracy... Welcome back, your hiatus was much shorter than mine. I joined a couple of years ago, then liked eatting and dining on fine wine better than counting calories and left the program for a long time.
Sakuya...Have you checked the raw nuts versus the dry roasted almonds in calories? I'm just wondering if I should be eating the raw nuts too? Good menu and those almond calories sure do add up. I ate 7 of them last night to get my calores up to 1200, yum!
Imenonelse...I drooled when I read your Thursdays menu, I love wheat thins! I don't keep them in the house, too tempting. I can sympathize with you and migraine headaches. One good thing about getting older is they don't come around as much. I suffered for years with them, especially around "TOM" time.
Lindy...What's the difference between regular yogurt and Greek yogurt? You must be in great physical condition to run 4 miles and 120 minutes on elliptical/stepper.
Charlene...Plum wine! I love any kind of wine, especially cabernet. That's what puts weight on me, not food. Just call me old grape nose! I'm glad to see you added on your menu the words (I know) when posting your fatty 2x4 Bacon, Egg & Cheese sandwich.
Diva...This morning I had trouble with the Fitday again. Yesterday's fat was 39% and I thought no way. They said my Fiber One cereal had 11 gram of fat, it actually has only 1 gram. I had to delete it out of the custom section and re-enter it. I don't know why Fitday recorded at 11 grams, all the other mornings it's been at 1 g. It made me think of you, do you use Fitday? If so, check anything that looks abnormal on the food log. Fitday has so many benefits but I wish they'd work the bugs out.
Valerie Joy...Speaking of Fitday, this morning I peeked at yours and wondered about something. (2) Zone Bars fat is 14. 14 What? 14 grams or 14%? Same with the (5) 110 Pira bars, 18. Is that 18% fat or 18 grams. What are those bars anyway, I've never heard of them. It seems like a lot of fat and calories for something that takes a couple of minutes to eat. Do they have lots of protein in them? Are you losing weight on them? I don't get enough exercise to eat something like that, on me it would turn my hips and tummy into more fat then I already have.
I hear DH getting up, the lazy head! Think I'll go make breakfast.
P.S. I found the recipe for Peanut Soup, it was in my old Weight Watchers cookbook. I can't remember who wanted it, let me know and I'll post it.

    Bobbi
I lost another 1/2 pound this morning and that FINALLY put me in the 140's, just barely!
  • I didnt have time to post yesterday!!! It was 78 and beautiful - we played outside ALL day (the kids were off of school) and then we went to the store and got some chicken breast and grilled them and ate outside!!! SOOOOOO wonderful for a January day!!! Today it is supposed to be 80!! We are going on a bike ride here in a few!!!
Calories yesterday - 1213 23% fat 4 Miles walking/running/rollerblading - we went around the block 3 different times!!! It was fun!! We also played tag and hide n seek on the playground so I burned some more then too!!
Well I am off to enjoy this rare January day!!

HAVE FUN LADIES AND KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • FL-MOM - I'm jealous. We're in a cold spurt in the Pac NW - I just got in from a 4-mile jog in 20 degrees. Brrr.

Bobbo - Greek yogurt (which I buy at Trader Joe's) is much denser than regular yogurt. I buy the plain, nonfat, then I dress it up with Splenda, berries, sometimes cinnamon, sometimes pure lemon extract. It is not runny at all, and I think it is the superthick creamy texture that is so wonderful. Fage is a well-known brand of Greek yogurt, but I go for the Trader Joe's generic version because it is cheaper (and I can't taste a difference). Plus, it is very low in calories for the non-fat version so it makes a wonderful, decadent snack.

    Have a great day everybody!

    Lindy
  • I went way overboard with the eating yesterday and don't have a deficit to report - in fact I probably have quite the overage. I'd rather not peek yet.

Started off ok but major cramps kicked in and I needed chocolate in the worst way. Had 2 pieces of chocolate truffle AND a snicker's bar! doh!!!

Then we went out for a friend's birthday and had a few chips (i tried to be good, probably only had like 8 chips) and a margarita (oops). Unfortunately we hadn't planned correctly and thought we were eating dinner there. By the time the party was over we were STARVING and it was late at night, so we wound up hitting fast food, a big no-no for me because I can't control myself. The fact that I ordered a cheeseburger, and they gave me a DOUBLE cheeseburger - well, the gods had it in for me. And no, I couldn't have just eaten half of it..... that's why fast-food is such a no no for me. It's my crack.

So anyway, today will be recovery mode. I'm going to eat very few calories so make up for the excess yesterday and hope that helps, and we're going to the gym later to run some of it off.
  • Today it's awful. It is cold and snowy. I couldn't go in to work today because we couldn't even get our car doors open after pouring hot water on them for 30 minutes. Not to mention the roads were all covered with 1" of ice at least. I didn't think it was worth risking driving there for $30.

But I am having a hungry day. EVERY meal I have ate I have been just as hungry after it as I was before I ate at all. I hate it. I am starving, my stomach is growling and I have to just sit here all day and be uncomfortable. At least if I had to go to work today I would be distracted.
