I've been too busy for the last two days to gab and I still don't have the time. I need to get out and shovel more snow. We had 7 inches a couple of days ago and it got down to 27 degree's below zero! I didn't get to the Fitness center today so I thought I'd shovel some snow for my exercise.
Smartbutt... Congrats on the 1 pound loss. As for the heart monitor, I have a Polar monitor. It stopped working a couple of years ago and I sent it in for repair. When I got it back it still didn't work so I gave up on it.
Lindy... I checked out the "caloriesperhour.com" web site and you have to subscribe to get it.

I just re-read my post after posting it and got such a laugh. I had never, ever thought about how that type of mushroom has an 'unacceptable' swear word as the first four letters! Apparently when I posted it they bleeped those out! How cute!

So what kind of mushrooms were they, give us a hint!
Julie... I'm always interested in trying something new, I checked out the "Diet Power" you and Lynn mentioned. But I didn't have time to take the free trial offer. What's the difference between that and Fitday?
Lynn... Welcome and maybe you can fill me in also on "Diet Power"
Susan... So what's wrong with a few pretzels? It's a lot better alternative then sweet junk! I'm 1/2 pound away from a 10 pound loss and decided to see how many inches I lost after you mentioned losing inches. I was shocked, I've lost 6.5 inches. I was a bit puzzled about my bicep, that showed a gain. Maybe because I've been working out at the gym or else I measured the wrong arm. Isn't right handed peoples right arm bigger?
Robin... Good calorie stats for the last two days. How did your cholesterol numbers come out. I'm on meds for high cholesterol after hitting a total cholesterol of 336.
Mary... How much snow did you get? Do you cross country ski?
Diva... I'm so proud of you, 4/10th left to make your Valentine's goal? Awesome and you deserve a pat on the back for all the hard work and exercise you do. I'm thinking of purchasing another HRM, what kind do you have? I want something very simple, I checked the internet and there are so many to choose from. What would you suggest for me?
Leesaw... Welcome to you too! I've tried all kinds of diet programs and I always come back to counting calories. That works the best for my type of personality. I want to know exactly how many calories I'm eatting daily, which is why I use a digital scale and weigh everything. (Mostly in grams since that's the most accurate)
Sakuya... I can't believe someone that weighs 124 pounds could put all that Chinese food away. You did not!
Looks like I'm burning sunlight, gotta go throw some snow around..........Catch ya all tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,

Today I
exercised first thing this morning.
finished a course on writing your own autobiography - (materials are online at http://www.lifebio.net).
cleaned out my 2006 files
visited a porcelain factory
went furniture shopping

Yesterday, I consumed 1287 calories.
My breakdown = 35% fat; 32% protein; and 34% carbs.

Diet Power is a downloadable program where you track your weight & your food intake. The program then gives you various nutritional breakdowns and reports on your weight projections. Get information about it at http://www.dietpower.com

I am the comedic relief for this thread. Hehehe.

Only a 216 calorie deficit today - having kind've a big hamburger for dinner, but at least it's homemade and with lean ground beef. I'm having a craving so I'm trying to fulfill it with slightly healthier alternatives. (e.g. baked potato instead of fries.)

I don't want to get too carried away though. Now I just need TWO pounds on that dang Valentine's ticker and I'll be happy. hehe

1430 in and 1789 out. Good night before I have more chips.

I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow and I'm pretty excited about it. I've been good-ish for a few days.

Bobbi,

I am quite partial to the Polar F4 monitor. Simple enough to use and tracks calories burned. I have to change the weight information with every pound I lose (Actually... I don't LOSE weight... I know exactly where I've left it!), and I am floored when I see how my heart rate goes down one to two beats each week doing the same work at the same intensity. I'm running farther in the same amount of time... wouldn't have known that without the HRM. However, I would hold Polar to the repair. They're very good at honoring their warranty.

Florida Mom - yes... I found Outback to be quite accommodating when I asked for my meal sans butter. The fact that the waiter was a young buck I wanted to take home helped, too. I hope he didn't see me drool. Seems like Outback hires gorgeous men and Olive Garden beautiful women!

Total calories for yesterday were 914 with 36% coming from fat (olive oil did me in).

Total deficit for January - 7255

Okay, why in the world would ****ake mushrooms be deleted? What are we 2 years old around here? So, the ****ake mushrooms that I just typed is going to be deleted too? I just don't get that. Sorry. Whatever.

Julie, I hear you on the Chinese Food, it's been months and months for me since I had any, I am quite in the mood for it myself. Although I do make a quite good stir-fry if I do say so myself. But that's NOT what I'm in the mood for. I'm in the mood for wonton soup and fried rice, all right .. I'll stop.

Susan, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your weigh-in

Okay Diva, so OUTBACK IT IS!!!

Thanks Bobbi, I took the retest on Tuesday, waiting to hear the results.

Yesterday was WITHOUT A DOUBT the toughest day I've had since I started this new lifestyle. Lots of cravings and a stupid sense of everyone has a bad day now and then, and I'm entitled to one too. Managed to get through it some way, some how without TOO much damage. It was my DD 15th birthday, her friends made her the most amazing cookies and I ate THREE of them. Yikes and then I ate a 1/2 piece of her birthday cake, which was an apple crisp. Thank goodness for my workout, it got me back on track or the whole day would have been a total, complete disaster. So,

Wednesday's calories - about 1750 and that's an approximate, I really don't know how much those evil chocolate cookies were, I'm estimating them at about 75 cals. a piece.

Here's hoping today is a better day, it had better be, no it will, it will, for sure. Have a good one ladies.

There's an easy solution to the mushroom problem. I think the more common spelling is "shiitake."
