Oolong... on being our biggest loser this week. We are at least in second place

Manick--love the doggies! They must have worked hard today

Cheree--I read his book YOU: on a diet and it really clicked with me. He doesn't just tell you what to eat, but explains how your body functions and why he recommends things. I am not big on science, but I learned so much from learning why things are necessary. Things I picked up: eating red pepper in the morning takes away hunger in ther afternoon (and it really works!); learn to eat to fuel and energize your body, not for emotions, and he explains why emotional eating happens, and recommends automizing at least one meal a day...but recommends doing breakfast, lunch, and two snacks, then changing dinner up as you like daily. I didn't think that would work for me, eating the same things everyday would get boring, but he says it takes the choices away so you don't emotional eat, overeat, but it gets automatic so you are just doing it to feed your body and not thinking so much about food. You can have 2-3 options that you rotate around, but he said the people that dropped the most weight and stuck to it long term were those that just picked one thing and suck with it. Okay, there is so much and I don't want to hog the list typing it all You can PM me if you want more info on what all I am doing...but that book is SO worth the read. It looks big, but it's large print with lots of illustrations so it reads quick. The illustrations are repeats of what was said on the other pages, so I just skippped them.

Purplefirefly - thanks so much for taking the time to share this information! I'm going to read through a copy of the book and get going with some new strategies, thank you!!!

Well, of course one day after I post my weigh-in, I get on the scale and it says the same thing it said all weekend, except it was at my regular time! I am half a pound from my weight starting with a 2!! It pushed me to walk today even though it is hot out since I am not going to the gym after work today. I am really hoping to post a weight that starts with a 2 this week!!! I have upped my cardio time to 40 from the 30 I was doing. I am trying to get ready for the 5k in a few weeks. Just wanted to post that tidbit of good news! I hope that everyone is having an excellent day!!

Bye for now...

Bette k: Glad you aren't affected by the floods. I hope the best for Iowa. Such a tragedy in so many ways.

reda: what kind of racing does your son do?

Oolong: congrats on being biggest loser!

Barb: one of my favorite moments of BL is the second time they get on the scale, the first time they show a loss. What an amazing moment that must be! The finals are pretty cool, too.

Manick: I can totally relate to the 5 lbs at a time thing, too...exactly what happened to me. Now if I can just not notice and wake up one day and the weight have been gone 5 lbs at a time! Cute doggies. Puppies are fun but they are a lot of work! I like both big and small dogs but I choose to have small dogs because the size of their poops is more manageable.

Ann: what a tough decision. I wish you luck with the meeting.

Well, yesterday wasn't very successful. Today has started off well but it's always supper that kills me. It's my turn to cook tonight, so I know we will eat healthy. When hubby has to cook, he can talk me into eating out so that doesn't go so well. When he doesn't feel like cooking, I have to start saying, "Okay I will cook then" even though I don't feel like cooking either. It's up to me to put healthy stuff in my mouth. Weightloss doesn't happen by accident! Today is laundry day. Not too bad today, I only did 2 loads so far, I think I may have 1 more load but that's it. We are lucky in that we have free laundry, we just have to share it with the other tenants. So far, I haven't had to wait for the washer or dryer.

I have a question for you all: do you think it is bad to watch the Food Network? I don't really think it affects me to watch it, but just in case, I've been staying away from it. But I love me some Alton Brown!

Trooworld I LOVE the food network, and I find it has no effect on me-although I do find myself saying stuff like "wow that is a lot of empty calories" or "I bet I could make it without all that butter and it would still be as good". There are some great (healthy) meals that they do on there too. I am not one that gets cravings for foods I see on tv though-I have to smell it so good thing I don't have a smellivision

Hey everyone else! Me and 2 of my kids have been sick the past couple of days and can I just tell you how sick I am of cleaning up after my sick kids-when do kids learn to run for the bathroom rather than my bed? Needless to say working out yesterday was not an option unless you count rolling over, sitting, up or walking to the bathroom exercise (it sure felt like it to me). I feel quite a bit better today and will try me some yoga tonight after I get the kids asleep.

I did find new motivation on Saturday though. Our city pool opened and I took the kids-I have a long ways to go before I feel comfortable taking of my shorts and t-shirt

I have a lot of catching up to do in the reading department!

Congrats Black Team!!!!!

Manick- cute doggies! My two labs are currently hogging the couch, and me and DH are scrunched on the love seat....wtf, lol!

Troo - I love food network! It doesn't really get to me though. Giada pisses me off though....does she ever eat??? lol. DH calls her "pointy."
(You would definitely not like my doggies poo!)

Smurf - ah, nothing like fear of the bathing suit to get one motivated! My little one's playgroup recently had a "mommy and me day" at the pool. I can't even tell you how good it felt to be able to feel pretty decent in my suit. What a difference a few weeks can make! Just think, if you can lose 1 or 2 pounds a week, you will be smoking in no time!

WOO HOO!!! Way to go ladies!!!! We did it, we won the weigh in this week!!! Keep it up!!

In case you want to see what I was doing in Chicago this past weekend, you can go to www.birdsongphotography.com and click on "blog" ... there's a small sample of what we did. We have a lot more to edit/post. And, you may recognize the lady in the pictures. Her name is Amber and she was "amberelise" on here last challenge, she was on the Black Team. She also happens to be my 4th cousin (we actually "met" on here, and had NO clue we were related until she told me her last name... and I realized her last name was the same as my maiden name... and through some digging on her aunts part, we found out we have the same great-great-great grandparents!...pretty nifty! Going to Chicago was the first time we'd met in person and she is an absolute blast to hang out with, as is her husband)
