trooworld,

I gather that if you don't want to be picked, just answer one of the "voire dire" questions. Say you have had a particularly bad or good experience with the police or with the courts. We had one lady raise her hand for almost every question and answer it with "I'm just confused, I got people to protect, I got my own family to take care of..." Of course, the guy in the back who was still on probation for DUI/BUI/drug trafficking didn't make it into the jury box. My favorite was the guy who raised his hand for every question only to make a comment rather than answer the actual question. One of his "answers" was to harangue the prosecuting attorney to just ask his questions and stop telling stories because it was taking too long. I'm thinking it is unwise to aggravate the DA.

Good morning everyone!
Well, we hit the fair for the second night in a row...why do they always have the best performances during the week?? Last night I had a craving for something sweet, my bf wanted funnel cake and we almost shared one. I told him he could get a donut or something if that was what he wanted, I had a frozen banana instead. I figured that was a MUCH healthier decision. I asked for it rolled it almonds instead of oreos too. I know I saved on fat, cholesterol and calories. I also felt much better about my decision. I didn't even miss the funnel cake or the indigestion I would've had from all that grease mixed with the ice cream he wanted to get on top of it! I feel if I can conquer the temptations at the fair, I can conquer anything! Thanks for the encouragement...It helped yesterday when I was tempted, I just had to come up with a compromise. No one said we can never have dessert again, let's just make smarter choices!

Tonight I have class then tomorrow I can finally get back to the gym! I miss working out! Luckily, I still have my lunch time walking, so I am not doing nothing, but still. Since my class is going to be over I think I may go to the movies this weekend and see Get Smart! Anyone seen it yet? Monday I start back to weight training. I have a question...One days that I don't workout I eat 1800, if I just walk 1900, if I go to the gym around 2200. When I start weight training, should I use the same number and eat 2200 and just make sure that I eat enough protein? Weight training always throws me off.

Work is getting crazier by the day...I better get to it!

Troo--I think the count is 120 for 1 1/4 cups, once everything is tossed together. You can eat quite a bit of it and it already has everything but the veggies, which don't add many calories. It is very good!

Misty-rock on with that fair food!

So the migraine hit last night and was still here this morning BUT I am not completely bed ridden like usual-I think all the extra O2 with the yoga has helped. I forced myself to do it this morning and it did help a bit. Dark, quite, sleep are what I need now, so while the baby is napping I am going to too. Since the migraine started last night it should be gone by this afternoon-sad I can almost set a clock to them.

Just wanted to check in real fast to say hi-have a grand Thursday!

ceegee- nope, I didn't see it...but I have been seeing some weird posts with stuff like advertising certain diet programs around 3FC and have been wondering what was going on.

Wish I would have seen that one too!

I'm baking spaghetti squash right now...I wonder how that's going to turn out. Planning on making just simple "spaghetti" with tomato sauce and bunch of veggies. hope my 2 year old dd won't be able to tell the difference.

Hey team!

I saw the stupid jerk's post. I'm glad it's gone.

I posted my FAVE salad recipe in the BT's healthy eating thread. It's YUMMY. I hope you all love it. I love the spa and pedicures. I love beer and wine and the 4th of July. I love vacations and I wish I was going with Jen!

I hate jury duty and anything to do with politics, especially politicians. lol!!!

I hate migraines even more than I hate politicians.

I love spaghetti squash and my kids did, too.

Pee as a marinade . . . Troo, you crack me up. You are beautiful on the INSIDE and I bet you are on the outside, too!!! I can tell!!! (I saw your other post . . .) My knee is popping like crazy and when I do a tall box step it sounds like water squishing. It doesn't really hurt though. It's a little tender my first lunge of the day, but it isn't painful.

I think I love myself pretty well! I try to always look at things I like about me more than things I don't like about me. I loved the "A New Earth" book. It helped me let go of a lot of negative thinking.

I'm off to torment my children . . . (hee hee hee!!)

I should confess . . .

I only made it 5 days alcohol free. BUT . . . I've cut back a LOT on my weekly consumption!!

When Friday night rolled around I got totally cranky and felt utterly deprived. Two glasses of red wine and I was a new and happier woman!!

Misty - Have you tried Rachael Ray's Kettle Corn recipe? (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/reci..._32100,00.html) My sister LOVES it. She doesn't use the chipotle pepper in it. I'd like to try it with Splenda in place of the sugar and see how it is.

BIG HUG!!!

Mindy- I am a REALLY happy woman with 2 glasses in me, lol! It is so funny...I used to drink hard-core in my 20's and early 30's. I was always ready to party and the first one to shot gun beers and do funnels. I figured I would "mature" into drinking a casual glass of wine, but for some odd reason I don't drink ANYTHING anymore. Only on special occasions. When DH and I went on our vacation last year, we were such lightweights it only took a couple of drinks to get drunk, great for our bill!!

I've never tried spaghetti squash.....don't laugh, but is it really stringy like spaghetti?? Must google...

I think I am going to try the zucchini and squash with mint someone (manick?) posted in the other thread.... the mint weirds me out, but I will go with it. Gotta use it for something other than feeding it to the dogs and in tea!

Recipe Report:

I tried the kettle corn recipe with the Splenda. It is AWESOME!!

I didn't use the chili powder because I'm sure my kids' friends won't like it. Next time I'll use 1/2 the amount of oil. 1/4 cup is WAY too much, IMHO. I used 3/4 tsp salt and it was okay. I think if you like kinda salty/sweet kettle corn 1 tsp would be okay.

I was scared of the Splenda exploding (for absolutely no good reason) so I didn't add it until the popcorn started popping. Not good. A lot of it stuck on the sides of the pan and some of it clumped up. (I scraped the excess into a bowl and crushed it with the back of a spoon and sprinkled it on the popped corn.) Next time, I'll add it with everything else and stir it with a spoon to make certain it doesn't burn. Once it starts popping, I'll hold the lid down and shake like normal.

Ceegee - Your muffin recipe awaits!!

ceegee, I'm eating it right now...and I thought I cooked it too long because it seemed kinda mushy when I tried to scrape it with fork...but I can't even tell it's squash. It's like I'm eating angel hair pasta. I made spaghetti sauce with canned tomato sauce, mushroom, white bean, red pepper, zucchini, onion, garlic..Italian seasoning and pepper....It's sooo good. Barb: I'm going to give it a shot...I guess if I get picked, though, I will just deal with it. I just don't want to spend my summer vacation sitting on some stupid jury. I guess that's what I get for registering to vote. :P

Misty: you did fantastic! I love those frozen bananas, and that is way healthier than funnel cake. That's a good example of how we can make better choices. That's great that the chicken salad only has that amount of calories. I think I have to go to Costco this weekend, if I can afford it I will get some of it.

smurf: migraines suck! During my first marriage, I used to get them so bad that I had to go to the emergency room and get demerol shots. I guess it was just the ex because I haven't had to go since the divorce. I saw that weird post and wondered what the heck is was doing here.

mugsy: thanks a lot. I am so down on myself. My husband said to me the other day: "I can't control how you feel about yourself/talk to yourself outside of this house but in this house, you are beautiful." He is so sweet. He really tries to make me feel sexy/attractive/loved etc. You know, it's funny that you say that your knee is popping...back when we were getting ready to move, my dog tripped me and I went down hard on my knee and ever since then, it's not been good. At first it was popping and hurting and now it just hurts when I walk up the stairs or get up from a sitting position. I went to the doctor's and they took xrays but nothing was broken. He just said it was water on the knee and gave me a prescription for Naproxen. I have been taking the Naproxen very sporadically, I guess I should take it as directed and maybe the problem would go away. A friend gave me "The Power of Now" to read...have you read that? I am just starting it. That's good that you cut back on consumption. My hubby quit drinking (he says it makes him lazy...I say he was lazy before that!) and wants me to stop for the next 2 weeks to make it easier on him. I will cut back a lot, too, probably just to a couple of glasses on Friday and Saturday nights. Wine is a miracle drink. haha

Tara: I've only had spaghetti squash once and I think I didn't cook it enough because it was still crunchy a little. You make me want to try it again, I think we should make it the next veggie to try.

I'm getting awfully hungry. I've already had 1192 cals and my limit is 1800. I can stay under my cals if I stick to the eating plan, but if I give into the hunger I am now feeling, I might go over. I just had a peanut butter sandwich. Not the lowest calorie-wise but I really wanted some peanut butter. I am going to go drink some water.

Hello!
I am going to keep this short. I am doing good...I keep feeling like TOM is going to start, but doesn't, I feel like I am being tortured!!

Mindy--I will have to try it once my humongo bag of kettle corn from the fair is gone...Thanks!

Troo--Don't be scared by the price...I think it is like $9, but there is enough there to make 2 big salads. Everything is split up so you can make half now and half later. Half should feed you and your husband, plus some. It has the chicken, nuts, dressing, noodles. I add spinach, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, celery, cuties, pea pods, and sometimes I get more adventurous and add canned corn and green beans, bean sprouts, etc. My bf won't eat it, so I have a HUGE bowl and then take some for lunch the next day. I just leave the noodles off until I am about to eat it, so they don't get soggy.

Smurf--Hope you are feeling better! I get really bad hormonal headaches too during TOM, real fun in combo with the cramps! I feel for you!

Hi to everyone else! I have tons o' work to do!

TTYL--
Misty

WHERE IS EVERYONE???!!!

Hi team,

I kinda fell off the turnip wagon this week. Last week, I had all that dread or depression about work and it sort of materialized this week. I was in a funk for a couple of days and have been much better mentally the last couple. I didn't slip into any stress eating so that's good. But between this and allergies, I haven't been very energetic about exercise. I'm headed back to the fitness center tonight. I feel like its been forever since I've gone.

The spaghetti squash sounds really good. I will have to get DH to cook that for me.

I saw that weird post too. Seems like it stunted the thread for a bit.

to all. Hope to post more postive stuff this weekend and get out of this funk.

Troo, I cooked mine at 375 for 40 minutes. My oven cooks pretty slow, though... For example, when a recipe asks for 30 minutes, it is never done in 30 minutes. So..good luck next time. I freezed the rest of it..will let you know how frozen ones are when it's thawed out. (the scraped ones)

gg, my bf loves popcorn...EXTRA EXTRA butter ones, too. I have a feeling he's going to like kettle corns. I will have to try...since it sounds healthier than those XX butter ones he gets.

Since I work Sun-Thurs, it's weekend for me, which I'm so glad. The work has been crazy for me this week, it felt like these 2 people were out to just get me! GRR... Well, my friend is throwing a house party tonight. They are going to have pizza....hopefully they will have some salad like last time. The last time they saw me was about 17 lbs ago. (right before my first weigh-in) Hopefully it goes well...and see if they can tell the difference.
