Great job on the weigh in everybody!! We only lost one person this week, and that is great!! I weighed myself today and guess what I am back down! sheeh! I must had just had too much water or something! Oh well.
Thanks to everybody for the well wishes!! I have been able to back off my vicodin for my pain and just take advil most of the time. I tend to take a vicodin before I go to bed most nights as it helps me sleep better and I am not in quite as much pain when I wake up!
I just wanted to check in really fast I will be back later to check up on everyone. Have a great day!!
I've just now caught up with my work e-mails and all the posts on here since last Thursday. Whew....
From what I can remember -
Congrats on the new grandbaby and niece. I remember when my niece was born...19 years ago. She was so cute....now she is a very beautiful young lady, freshman at Eastern Kentucky University. And then there is her younger brother....sophmore in high school and a week away from being turned loose on the roads without having to have a licensed driver with him...he is very excited.
School and Work at the same time...I totally sympathize. When I did my student teaching I worked the 11:00 pm - 7:00 am computer operations shift at the Cincinnati Enquirer and then I was at school from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm. I don't remember much of anything except being very tired.
Am I the only non-runner here?
Plateus blow...I too have been in one for a while, but this too shall pass.
Spaghetti squash - this is what I want to try...and the challenge is a good excuse.
Losing 1 or 2 lbs.....slow and steady, that's the way to keep it off.
And finally RENO....if you would have told me two years ago that I would go to Reno and A) not have any of the free drinks, B) workout in the hotel gym every morning, and C) think the buffet was the best choice to get "healthy" food. I would have laughed. But I am here to report I did just those things AND came home with as much money as I left with.
Well, I didn't try my couscous last night b/c we ended up eating at a Greek restaurant! Yikes! The first day of the challenge I only ended up with 3 veggies!
Today may not be much better with my Mexican lunch and pool league tonight. Tomorrow I must make a better effort. It seems this week is packed with plans that will make me eat out more than I should.
Congrats to everybody on a good showing at the weigh-in.
Can't stay, but wanted to say 'Have a Great Day Folks' and good luck with the challenge!
sxulcmnky- congrats on joining a gym!! I love going to mine, it is the only thing that will get me out of bed at 5 AM, it is so weird- I can go to bed at 11 and wake up at 5 and go to the gym, but if I sleep till 8 and don't workout I am in a slump all day.
vanetta- spaghetti squash is YUMMY! you will enjoy it!
dea- did you make the bean and lentil soup or is it canned? I love lentils!
1 pound losers are AWESOME!! If we all lost just one pound a week we'd win every week. I'm just sure of it. Any loss is fabulous. Just maintaining during a bad week is fabulous. Keeping TOM at bay is fabulous.
Last go around with the challenge, we did a Black Team PUSH for just trying for losing 1 pound a week. If we each ONLY lost 1 pound a week, we'd lose 44 pounds as a group (yep, out of the 57 people that the Black Team started with, we have 44 left). Pretty neat to think about, huh?
I am so sorry, but I rather fell off the deep end in the past week or so. I had decided to try getting back into the dating scene after breaking up with my bf back in February and it left me a bit of an emotional wreck. Nothing bad happened, I just went on several dates with one guy and then had to tell him I wasn't interested and then another guy I was interested in decided I wasn't interesting enough. I wasn't really prepared for it emotionally and ended up using food as a coping mechanism. Not good, but a good lesson and I am now pulling myself back together and getting back on track. So I just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I will be back participating again. Sorry for dropping off the radar for awhile there!
Nancy...glad to see you back on track! For us "emotional eaters", it's always something pulling us in the wrong direction...a constant struggle for sure! Hang in there, I am with you all the way! Caitbeans...the beans & lentils were dried in a package with peas, barley and rice, and then you add the rest...soup base, meat, other veggies, whatever.
I am very lucky to have a MIL who loves to cook, and is very good at it! Julz..I think a one pound challenge would be great..how did it go last time around? Vanetta...I am a runner wannabe, as I am not co-ordinated enough to get involved in too many sports that require equipment!! I am planning on starting the C25K program in March...need to do it outside...no treadmill or gym membership in my near future
A distraught lady is holding a smoking gun that she just used to destroy her scale with. She is being lead away by a couple of police officers with a speech bubble that says something like "I'm sorry lady, but this is considered a hate crime". There are some days when I just hate my scale too!!

Dea, do ya have a Community center near by? I use the GYM at mine. It only cost $2 a visit and that's to use anything there while I am there. Sometimes I like to swim laps in the pool and they have aeronics classes too! I go 3 to 4 times a week, which makes it only $6 to $8. Not too shabby and their treadmills work just as good as any at an actual fitness club.
Hey Ladies!
Just a quick duck in to say that we did such a great job this past week!!!! I too am glad that we only lost one teammate.
Chellez, thanks for the banner...I didn't actually realize that we got a banner, but it is nice..thank you....
My In the Out Box Challenge today was good:
had cabbage, broccoli, berries, banana, salad, and 2 kiwis...in the mix of the other food...
was also happy with myself because there was a going away dinner tonight and it was basically pancakes with icecream...so I ate a bunch of cabbage and broccoli and some nuts before I went... and I was so happy that I did cause I probably ate half the amount of food I would have otherwise, and I didn't have any of the ice cream... never actually used that strategy before but I think I am going to employ it more and more often...
Thank you everyone!! I am beginning to feel better. I just hope I will keep it off.
I might not be on for a couple days. Hubby is getting deployed and I am going back home to ky for the time he is gone!! This will be the first time he has deployed since we have been married. So we have been lucky!!!!! I am just hoping that being back home will help me emotionally with the kids!!!
Diva...we do have a community centre down the street, but it is basically a gymnasium, and a bunch of multi-purpose rooms that various groups use for kids clubs, meetings etc.. They do run some fitness classes, but never at times that work with my schedule. Now, my hubby works at a community college, and has access to a fantastic gym with loads of top-notch equipment, a pool and an ice rink...but does he ever use these resourses????NOOOOOO!!!
I actually love being outside...just not in the winter!! chicki...pancakes and icecream vs broccolii and cabbage????? Kudos to you girl. I am afraid the pancakes and icecream would win hands down for me!
Wow, I missed a lot in a week! I'm glad everyone is showing some unity again, I got rather discouraged while reading for a while! Let me say congrats to everyone for pulling together and:
Losinitin07: CONGRATS!!!! I miss the lil ones sometimes Another special one for a great person.
Things have been nuts around here. The kids have been sick for over 2 weeks now. They've been switched from meds and I swear I am not getting anywhere. I am ready to take down the dr.
I gave in to my cravings during the PMS stage, though did have a loss. (honestly I think it was a water loss but **** I'll take it anyways.)
I've been freaking about my crappy job situation and knowing that I have to get a new one with my useless degree *sigh*. I would just like to have the $ to pay my bills. I dont ask for much.
We got some bad news on Fri that my fiance's best friends younger brother who I graduated hs with, killed himself. It's been tough for my guy since he knew him forever. We'll be going to the memorial on Sat...
So, I dont have much hope for this week, though I am trying I swear. Good luck to all.
