Almost every morning when I wake up I say to myself, Nah, we're not going to the gym today. Today is a good stay to flop on the couch and read a good book. You deserve it. But after I get up and have a cup of coffee and check my email and feed the animals I say to myself Well, you might just as well go and work out a little bit. You don't have to work really hard today. And then after I get there I am happy to be there and I do my usual workout and feel very virtuous afterwards.
And it is a gradual improvement. At first I could only go to the gym a few times a week and then do the bare minimum. It gets a little better every day.
okay today was 35 min. elliptical and 30 min. triceps and chest. my hubby was there to explain these terms to me. i also had a NSV today. i was able to run around our yard for 10 min. chasing my almost 2 yr. old son. wooooohoooooo!!!!
Wow great job, everybody! I decided not to go to the pool today but get other stuff done... but this afternoon I decided to go out and yay glad I did as I got in 80 minutes of water aerobics.
Norma, actually I think a treadmill sounds like a nice option for you. You can go slowly on them and increase speed and incline as you are able. Set it up maybe so you can watch TV while you are on it and the time will go faster. OR just get outside and walk... that's how I started. Even if you can't go far, just do what you can and stop and rest as you need.
Celery, good job! I do the same... once I get out there and get going I kind of enjoy it and mostly enjoy the good feeling from having done it!

I agree many days don't want to do it but force myself to at least start and before I know it I am done. It is such a good feeling to be moving forward. Nelie you are so amazing!Today I did 60 minutes between elliptical, treadmill, bike. so for me60 brings personal to 580
50 mins on the exercise bike yesterday and 60 mins on the treadmill today. The weather has been too wet for hubby and I to get our usual weekend walks in, which is a little sad. I hope we can get some in next weekend, because the Sunday after that we are walking in the City to Surf. That is pretty much exactly as it sounds... we walk from the centre of the city to the beach. It is 12km (7.2miles) and has a couple of hills, so I am assuming it will take us a couple of hours or so. We have never done it before and I just felt that this year was the right time, seeing as I have reached my goal. Hubby said he would do it with me as long as I didn't go too fast. Fingers crossed that all goes well. Thousands of people do it (running and walking), so I'm not sure I'll like the crowds, but we'll see.

Okee ... considering I wasnt gonna do any exercise today (Sunday here in NZ) I ended up getting up a good sweat when I started cleaning and couldnt stop! rofl .. Usually I just do a little area a day .. but today I started and then I found something in the room I was cleaning that should have been in another room so I finished up what I was doing and then went to the other room just to put this something in there and thought .. oh .. that needs a clean so got out the cleaning gear and started scrubbing the bathroom ... (I really need to get myself a mop one of these days!) ... then there was some washing to do and while I was waiting for that I cleaned up the kitchen from lunch (usually I wait until the end of the day to do the dishes as there arent many), then I carried the washing out and hung it up (we are having a lovely day here today), then ended up playing with the dogs ... I was pooped by then but thought I had only been busy for about 15-20 minutes .. when I came back in and looked at the clock I had been cleaning and running around non-stop for 1 WHOLE HOUR!!! I was all hot and a little sweaty, and a little sore with the bending and stuff .. but when I saw that I felt great again! rofl. So I hope its ok but Im adding that to my total

wow hit my goal of 700 min. for the month of august, last night. i actually went over by 2 min. yay!!!!! today i did 35 min. on treadmill at 3.0 speed and 2.5 incline which is the fastest and longest i have been able to achieve since i began. i feel good!
