Well after a day celebrating on Monday and drinking WAY too much (but doing better than normal on my food for such an event!) I had to deal with the hangover of all hangovers yesterday, so by the time I'd battled my way through work and only had healthy lunch adn brekkie, I got to my mates and her fella cooked up a carb and meat fest followed by a monster serving of pudding, and there was no way I was going to refuse!
Back on it today though, looking forward to losing the blurgh feeling that over eating has finally begun to give me, yay!
Pump and Boxercise later, dissertation proposal to write before then. And meeting a mate later for coffee, and today, coffee so does not have to come with a side of cake!
Lozz good luck for today hun we are all rooting for you
Jose haha yeah not buying it might help, we all have low days i hope you feel better and brighter soon
TC that sounds like a good night out and a great hangover menu lol glad you had a good time, we all need to blow off steam now and again
Ellie congrats on your fantastic loss you are a real inspiration
i am still hanging onto an extra half a pound, but i feel a lot less bloated and sluggish today. got course work and house work this morning then actual work this afternoon, bloody work work work lol roll on july and i will be lying on the beach wondering how many calories are in the mythos beer i am drinking haha
I am so exhausted in the last few weeks. I don't know why that is, wish I did, zzzzz. In other news I lost 1lb. Oh well, it's something.
Sounds fab MissSMcC! I am going on holiday next week too; London for a few days then Brighton for a few days. HOW do people get through holiday when they are on a diet? Just avoiding gaining would be something if I don't lose. I want to enjoy some nice meals on holiday but not to go mad.
Hope your exercise goes well TC! Well done on coping well with the party! Holidays, parties, special events are SOOO hard, I find, avoiding going totally off track. Even coffee with friends; I hope you can resist the cake, i think I could not!!
xxxx
Elliemar you have done so well......keep at it!!
I have taken to sucking an extra strong mint when I am tempted by kids left overs or when I am cooking tea. I don't really like them and it stops me picking mindlessly...especially at cheese!! I shove leftovers in the food bin and put coffee grounds on top!
Lozz I am not working myself at the moment....for different reasons to you and some days I get so bored! I know how difficult it is to find a half decent job these days. Good luck!
After feeling completely crappy yesterday, tired, achey, short of breath cheesed off the whole nine yards I went out and walked 3.7 miles today. We have a place called Cosmeston Country Park near us and it has lovely lakes and woods. I know every single bl**dy inch of it but it is lovely!
Still listening to Madonna for motivation.....anybody got any other suggestions??
Have a lovely day all.
Joselo - avoiding things is all about changing habits. I always used to have a cake or something in Costa with friends - now I almost never do and it doesn't even occur to me.
Parties? Eat before you go so you're not so hungry and tempted. Try and stand away from the food tables so you don't mindlessly pick.
Holidays can also be done depending on where you go. I went to Greece twice and LOST both times. The food is great and I munched away on salads and kebabs and meat dishes. I always asked for salad or veg instead of chips and only allowed myself things like hummus & garlic pitta once or twice a week. Drink wise I cut out wine during the day, drank lots of water and then stuck to vodka & diet coke in the evenings.
1987 - we're the same height too - stick at it and you WILL get there!
MissSMcC - Thank you GL with the coursework and roll on that Mythos
TC - blow-outs are good for the soul or it all gets too much.
Lozz - GL today! *fingers crossed*
Going back to Joselo and you feeling tired. Could be the diet change - make sure you're getting enough protein and carb. Also, might sound mad, but try doing some more exercise even if it's just walking. Your stamina builds up really quickly and the more you do, the more energy you'll have.
Jose, it's likely the change in diet that's making you tired. You're trying to dramatically reduce your calories, so you're putting a lot less fuel in than your body's used to. It will adjust in time. And exercise might help too - for a start it'll mean you feel like you've got a good reason to be exhausted!
Inspiring walking music, hmm... I always liked listening to pretty bouncy happy ska music when walking. You get a good rhythm going, plus there's something about the bass and the brass that makes me feel like I'm in the sunshine even when it's raining. Try some Reel Big Fish, they're ska-punk so a bit faster (with some of the slower stuff it's hard to get a good rhythm going). I like going on the exercise bike listening to them.
Holidays on a diet... pass. All my holidays are at my sister's house cos I'm a poor person and she tends to need help with the childcare during school holidays. And until recently they had the sort of kitchen that always has a cupboard full of crisps and biscuits and sweets. I seem to have inspired my sister, she's emptied out that cupboard and has been texting me daily to tell me what she's eaten, so next time I'm down there it might be a bit easier, but in the past the amount of mindless munching that's gone on is ridiculous. Who are you going with, Jose, or are you going by yourself?
Also, Jose, losing a pound isn't just something, it's bloody brilliant! Remember the doom and disaster of the blip? Even with that you've managed to lose! Well done!
Those Slimming World chips are pretty good - I used to have a housemate who liked to make them after coming home from the pub, not sure how all that beer fitted into Slimming World... The thing with me and chips though, is I didn't really eat them at all for years and years, except the occasional takeaway, because I've never been a fan of oven chips. We had a chip pan when I was a kid, but then Mum decided it was giving her indigestion and stopped making them. Last year, I had to borrow my parents' old chip pan for steak and cake night (I provide the steak, guests provide the cake). And my dad said it can be a long term loan. And by god, I'd forgotten how awesome proper homemade chips in a chip pan taste. Especially with a great big dollop of real Hellmann's mayonnaise.
Except mayonnaise is the devil. 90 calories per 13g! I don't know how much 13g is but I'm guessing very little. I don't actually worry much about the chips themselves - they're thick cut so they're not particularly soggy with grease, they get a few minutes to drain before being dished up, I don't have a vast portion, and it's only about once a fortnight. But the mayonnaise is something I really need to watch. Give me a healthy way of eating tasty chips, and the mayonnaise is going to drag me down, down, down, all the way to an incredibly tasty heart attack.
As for what diet I'm doing - none in particular. Just no simple carbs, limited complex carbs, minimised cheese intake, smaller plate for the evening meal to reduce portion size, and no cakes, crisps or other crap. Working pretty well so far!
Weekly weigh in for the chart, if someone could add it there: 14st 11.6lbs or 207.6lbs. Which is a whole 1.4lbs less than last week, so yay! We'll not mention the fact that that's actually quite slow since I typically lose 5lbs per fortnight... Especially as I just checked and have actually lost exactly 4lbs in the past two weeks. No complaints!
Jose - I agree with everyone else about the tiredness. About 3 weeks in I got tired very easily, but give it a week or two and you should see an improvement. Your body is freaking out about the changes you've made. Maybe try and get some healthy carbs in, bananas, more veg etc.
MW - my walking music is anything from Katy Perry and gaga, to ok go and Sabbath lol i looooove sabbath
Well... Those peeps on mfp have probably seen my status. But for the others who aren't or i havent got round to requesting.... THIS GIRL DID GOOD!!! I start on monday!!! OMFG!! Now all I need is a wooosh for WI on Saturday or Sunday depending on how i feel lol.
again guys thanks for all the good licks and positive vibes. I seriously thing we are a force to be reckoned with
I'm a relatively poor person too, but I am also a rich person, in the big picture.
I am going with 2 of my best friends called Sophie and Hannah. We have plans to go clubbing, see a show and a museum and SHOPPING!!! Mind, both of them are size 6 clothing, so they are very very slim people, maybe I will just watch what they eat, which can mean I don't gain weight!
CONGRATULATIONDS LOZZ!!!!!! How exciting. This really is a new start for you, career and health wise in your life!!
Well done on the weightloss Brid! Thinking about it, I am happy about losing the pound because I was half expecting to gain everything back! I've lost 4 and a half lbs now. 2 more pounds and I'll be out of the 400s (my stats here are a bit wrong, my start weight was 406lbs), hopefully never to return!!

I've been absent a while because between Sunday and yesterday, I have been revising like a fiend and I actually did my exams on Monday and my last one yesterday. EXAMS ARE FINISHED! I am so relieved, it's like a weight has been lifted off of me. Also, I weighed this morning and lost 1lb - down to 164lbs!! I am so stoked. I have boxing class tonight, so that'll burn some serious calories.
How is everyone else doing? Jose, Lozz, TC, Miss SMC. Mountain Walker, Brid, 1987, Elliemar, and everyone else?

Brid - well done on the loss. It doesn't matter how big or small, they all add up in the long run.
Marchmallow - well done on loss and finishing exams.
Joselo - wd on the loss and your next mini target is getting under the 400s and then celebrate making it. Celebrate every little mini achievement because they all count!
My fave walking music is rock like AC/DC or things like Black Eyed Peas or Faithless - all with good, marchy beats Have just filled my fridge with veg, chicken and fish and am off out for a walk shortly. Have a good day everyone x
Hi everyone
Just checking in as not been doing too well. Still weigh same, but having a stressful time at work and not been coping too well. If anyone has a large boot to give me a kick and some motivation I'd appreciate it
Hey Choccy - good to see you! Not doing well? You've maintained and that's way better than putting on, especially in times of stress, so give yourself a pat on the back!
Come on girl - 4lb to target for both of us. One last big push needed!
Marchmallow well done on the exams that must be a huge relief for you, my sister has just finished hers too.
Jose im sure once your body gets used to your new diet you will feel a lot better as Lozz said, it takes time to adjust.
Choccy maintaining in a stressful time is an achievement in it's self, so don't be too down about it
i am off to look at a car this afternoon, hopefully it's decent and i can call the scrappy for the old one, keeping my fingers crossed as i am fed up of looking and worrying haha my mum is coming with me so if nothing else it will be a nice drive out and time spent with her.
We skipped the chips in the end. Just didn't seem worth it the day before weighing. The scales seem to approve - I'm a pound lower this morning than yesterday. Thank you, Scale Gremlins!
Awesome news on the job, Lozz! Should definitely help you in terms of being on your feet more often, as well as mentally - being unemployed can suck far too much.
Marchmallow, nice one for surviving the exams! How long do you have to stress about them before they give you the results?
Jose - clubbing on holiday's going to involve drinking, isn't it? Beware, drinking often leads to takeaways, and being drunk makes it very hard to resist. Do your friends know you're trying to change your eating habits? If not, it could be a good idea to tell them something. Not necessarily all the details if you don't want to go into it, but at least let them know you're trying to cut back on the takeaways. If they're expecting you to eat like you used to, you're likely to end up in situations where you've got a great big pile of unhealthy food in front of you, and it's often a lot easier to just eat it than explain why you can't. So explain first, and good luck!
Doing the New Car Dance for you, Miss SMcC. Thank god the boyfriend's asleep or he'd be laughing himself silly at how stupid a dance it is.
Still craving chocolate hobnobs. Stupid brain. I've come up with a plan though - I can store a packet of chocolate hobnobs at my parents' house! It's a ten minute walk away, which removes any possibility of mindless munching, and I can have ONE hobnob when I'm round there, once or twice a week. "Part of a healthy and balanced diet", and all that. What does everyone think, good plan, or doomed to disaster?
