  • Hi ladies!

    Everybody doing well?

I've been a pretty good girl eating and exercising and I think I finally got my husband to see the light and to work out again. He gets so grumpy when he skips the gym and he hasn't gone for about... ohhh ...a year now. He's actually gone 3 days in a row and he's eating way cleaner with me so I hope he sticks to it.

It's been SOOOO hot here. usually above 95 degrees and most of the time above 100 (lows - at night - are in the 70's). YUCK! I have to get out and work out really early in the morning so I don't fry in the sun.

The worst part is that it's way too hot to ride - even my mesh pants and jacket don't really help. I may get a ride in early in the morning one day this week, that's the only time I can go. It doesn't cool off at night enough to even go then. Blech. I did get some frame sliders, and I had my seat shaved down. I don't want to mess with the suspension, so I'm trying to see what I can do to the bike before I put the lowering links on it. I have a pair of higher healed boots on order and they should be here in a couple of days so I'll see how the help.

    Welcome Wildfire and Flower Power!

I hope everyone is doing good and getting out on their bikes. Ride safe everyone!
    Kathy
  • Hey chicks!!

WELCOME BACK STAR!! glad you had a good time! Marathon shopping, heehee

welcome Flower Power! I can understand your anxiety but sounds like your son went about his motorcycling in a responsible, adult way. Practice, practice is how he'll hone his skills. He'll probably learn it on his own but let him know that he needs to always be on his guard; at the same time, he'll have a blast

and we know ultimately YOU will decide, but why not start your motorcycling journey now, instead of later...we'll support you either way, and YES, consider yourself already a biker chick!

welcome Wildfire!!! glad you made yourself known very kewl that your neighbor is taking you around.

Hi Rebel!!!! Hi Kathy!! kathy, what are sliders? from the context, sounds like something that will lift the frame? I've heard of them but don't know what they are

My parts FINALLY got in Tuesday night!! and my freakin mechanic sez "ok, I have a couple of major projects to finish up; so I can start on your bike this Saturday, or whatever fits your schedule?"

I said VERY COLDLY "NOW fits my schedule. You've had my money for three weeks now; the job is 80% paid for; MY bike has priority." But spoken without a rise in my voice; very calm

He starts "backpedaling" and apologized about the parts being backordered, but that wasn't his fault and then told me to bring it Wednesday afternoon, which I did.

So MAYBE I'll have it back Friday evening. I am SO STOKED to hear what she's gonna sound like!!!

Hey!! I wore short shorts today, with slip-on sandals with a high wedge heel. I have always been SO self conscious about my legs...for me to be able to do this is big big big for me!!! Yay to watching my calories and EXERCISING 6X a WEEK!

I rode husbands 800 Vulcan for about 20 miles an hour ago - that baby sure gets to 70 quicker than my li'l 600

take care!!!! shiny side up and knees in the breeze I'll try to post more often (promises, promises )
  • Biker Babes - Howdy....
Sounds like you are all doing great!
Holly, you sound especailly in good spirits. could it be things are going good with you and DH? Hope so.
This weekend is really nice weather here, DH doesn't have to work. Hum.....could for sure mean some long over-do riding!!! I'm really looking forward to it, it's been awhile.
I might even need a refresher course on what is where.....lol
Well it has taken me this entire week to get back in the routine of working out, eating right and work.
DH is at our up north lake place, he had an additional week of vacation and I didn't. So at night after work I have been doing all the "girly" stuff I like to do, it's been really nice. He is coming home tonight to spend the weekend with me before he has to go back to work on Monday. It should be a nice weekend.
I usually workout M-F, well this week I really kicked back and only made it to the gym on M and T - Starting Monday I will be at it full force again. I think I've caught up on my sleep now..and am on the verge of just being lazy...lol
Holly - Short Shorts? You have really come along way baby! I'm not ready for short shorts yet, maybe next summer. But for me, my inner thighs are the hardest part to shape up but I'm working on that dang inner/outer thigh machine......You make us older chicks proud!!!!
Okay gotta run and do some work...it is Friday (Thank God).,...
    Hugs....
  • Hey ladies,

Glad to hear that everyone is doing good.

Welcome to all the new ladies!

Cindi- I live near Wichita. I betcha miss KS?! Ha!

Well, I have some exciting news. dh and I got my bike out over the weekend and guess what... I really actually rode the darn thing! LOL. I was so freaked before about getting her into 2nd gear (not to mention any higher), but I DID IT!!!!!!!! Dh and I even went down and around 4 or so blocks. My only problem now is that I seem to kill it trying to take off. Never a problem before. Oh well, at least I am really finally coming along. I was beginning to wonder about myself. Its amazing the things we can talk ourselves into believing or not believing about ourselves. Anyhow, I am feeling so much more confident about my bike now.

I'll be back to check in a few days!

    Take care till then chickies!

  • THIS IS TOO SAD!!

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesturday of a yeast infection and
complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. A dozen celebrities
turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry
    Jack,
the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain
    Crunch.

The gravesite was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemina delivered the eulogy and lovingly and described Doughboy as
    a
man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in
    show
business, but later in life was filled with turnovers.

He was not considered a very smart cookie. A little flaky at times, he
    was
a crusty old man and was considered a roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough
    and
Jane Dough, plus they had a bun in the oven. He is also survived by his
    elderly dad, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes
  • -Where is everyone??
Are you chicks all on your ? Or What Am I the only one with no life Oh well see you when the weather gets to cold to ride.......
    Hugs...........
  • Quote: Oh well, at least I am really finally coming along. I was beginning to wonder about myself. Its amazing the things we can talk ourselves into believing or not believing about ourselves. Anyhow, I am feeling so much more confident about my bike now.
That could have been ME, quoted, three summers ago...Rebel, you'll find that each success you make each day is going to bolster your confidence...and you'll be soaring!!! yay to you!

hello chicks! usual apologies, blah blah blah the BIG NEWS is that the darn mechanic finally finished my bike (I literally yelled and screamed and cried at him!!! future story ) but OMG, I am in love all over again with my bike - she sounds SO GOOD - she rumbles at idle....and then nicely roars

I just can't get over it, what a difference. Even when I'm holding it down, going through neighborhoods, people turn to look - they never looked before when she sounded like a Singer sewing machine AND she has more zip - she does 70 at what 60 used to feel like...and I was able to easily pass someone who decided at the last moment they wanted to speed up...It has increased my riding pleasure, when I didn't think that was possible

Also got both fork seals done, and a new front tire...so the Vance & Hines pipes, Jet Kit, re-jetting carbs, fork seals, and a front tire came to just under $800.00. As the bike is my main transportation from early April to late October I think it's worth it.

Star - the Doughboy obit was a RIOT!!! Especially to me, being in the baking biz

    ttyl!!!
  • hello again! my o my, two days in a row that I post

got the new front tire (dunlop treaded) and got the reminder about taking it easy for the first 100 miles on a new tire. NO hard cornering! they're very slippery. Guy told me that dirt roads are especially great for helping to scrub that new finish off, which is great, as my ride to and from work included 6 miles of dirt roads

Nothing brilliant to say I did a workout tape this morning that used to be a regular ( 3 or 4 times a week) then I got a new favorite one; but I did the first one this morning, and loved how I could feel a difference from when I did it last. You finally get to a point where a muscle has developed enough, that when you lift, you actually feel the flex of the muscle, and can hone and control it, as opposed to just lifting that damn tree trunk of a leg The flex I can feel now is in the butt and hip area. It is possible, everyone, if I can do it, anyone can!!

    c ya later!

  • hiya :)
Just registered for this site and was cruising around and found this club and was thrilled.
The way I see it, what better place for me but one that combines my two obsessions (bike and current body comp)?
I haven't been riding really at all in the last year. I kind of got hit by a car and stuff - no worries i was ultra-super-fantastically LUCKY that i wasn't injured more than a scrape and a couple of bumps but i do think i was mentally injured in the way of confidence, it shall return!
I lovingly (wistfully?) gawk at my bike daily. My bf will be taking the MSF in August (finally!). Hopefully he will love it and maybe we will ride to the gym ? LOL
I recently discovered that focusing on my job, relationship, not riding, and eating pretty much whatever i wanted caught up with me so I started SouthBeach a few weeks back. I am not noticing any external changes yet but I sure am feeling better!
I think i just need to kick up the working out and riding (i really feel that riding is more demanding than most ppl realize)

So, I just wanted to pop in and say hi

    mikki
  • Hi Mikki - Welcome to our biker chick thread......glad you found us too!

Hey sorry to hear about your accident, really glad you didn't get hurt! When we went to the Harly 100th anniversary in Milwaukee I got into a wreck too, the worst part it was with my husband - my bike didn't get a mark, but his got a couple dents, neither of us got hurt - it was a miracle too. I had no choice but right then and there to get back on my bike and ride the rest of the way home, like 3 hours more.....I was so shaken up I wanted to have the bike trailered back home, but it was 5 a.m. and that wasn't really an option. Anyhow in the long run that was the best thing that could of happened. I rarely think of the accident anymore and thank God we were so lucky. In you own time you will get back on - you will be fine.
Just thought I'd share that - hope you don't mind....
  • Hey girls!

Star- Loved your Doughboy obit...too cute!

Holly- Your bike sounds really great. I am so glad that you are enjoying it even more. Thanks for the confidence about riding!!!

This will (as usual) be short and sweet. I am really really hoping to get the computer up and going by the time school starts b/c I don't think that I will get as much time on the computer this year that I did last. I really miss you girls!!! Not much new going on here, so I will check back in a few days.

    Mikki- Welcome!!!!
  • A drunken man walks into a biker bar, sits down at the bar
    and orders a drink.

Looking around, he sees three men sitting at a corner table.

He gets up, staggers to the table, leans over, looks the biggest,

meanest, biker in the face and says: "I went by your grandma's

house today and I saw her in the hallway buck naked.

Man, she is one fine looking woman!"

The biker looks at him and doesn't say a word.

His buddies are confused, because he is one bad biker and
would fight at the drop of a hat.

The drunk leans on the table again and says:
"I got it on with your grandma and she is good, the best I ever had!"

The biker's buddies are starting to get really mad but the
    biker still says nothing.

The drunk leans on the table one more time and says, "I'll
tell you something else, boy, your grandma liked it!"

At this point the biker stands up, takes the drunk by the
shoulders looks him square in the eyes and says,
    "Grandpa.......Go home, you're drunk."
  • Star-- HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! That was too hilarious! Thanks for sharing. Are you getting lonely here all by yourself? I am so sorry that I haven't been around. I told Dh today that I really plan on checking the board 2-3 times a week now. I have so much fun visiting with you ladies.

Well, I haven't been out riding much since my last report. Boo to me!! Dh told me that I need to take it out several times a week in order to build my confidence and I do agree, but it seems that I don't make or find the time to do it. Don't get me wrong I really want to accomplish this. We are looking for bigger (more comfortable) pegs for the Softtail b/c my feet fall asleep so darn easy. This weekend is a rally in a nearby town and I am not really looking forward to it...whcih is awful. I feel so fat, bloated and awful on the back of that thing. When I'm losing I feel so good on it. Right now I feel like a sausage in my clothes. Ugghh!

My husband and I are trying to think of more activities to be involved in that will count as exercise. We need to do things that we like in order to get ourselves going. Our goal for this week is to swim 3-4 days this week. Since he's been off work he's been eating much more and we are forming some AWFUL habits. I'm trying to prevent those habits. I have been eating yogurt and fruit for breakfast, a nice healthy veggie filled turkey sandwich, FF Pringles (counted out), and fruit for lunch, and salad for supper. Hopefully that will help me out. I have to get control!

Well, I will check back. hope you are all doing well and enjoying the riding!
