Hi Biker chicks,

Wow it's been awhile...
Went on a benifit run Sunday - it was long (form 7a.m. to 5;30 p.m.) HOT, dirty and sticky....
There were about 6,000 bikes there....everyone looked just as hot (temp) as me...and by the end of the thing I went to the womens bathroom and all of us looked like we had been run over by a 18 wheeler. needless to say, I told DH I won't be going on that ride next year. This was actually our third year.
Problem number one is that where the ride starts is 1 and 1/2 hours from our house, before that ride we meet out friends for breakfast 30 minutes away, eat breakfast, then ride to Dundee, MI where the ride begins. There you hang out in the Cabellas store and parking lot until noon. Then you go on a three hour stop and go ride thru the country - very slow. Then it's back to Biker Bob's Harley Shop for grub, shopping, bands, etc - mostly all outside (to bake more). Afer that, we get to ride 1 and 1/2 more hours back home. I was wiped out and a shower never felt so darn good.
Oh, did I forget, even with sunscreen, my arms got really burnt - not my face too much makeup and sunscreen there...lol
nag-nag-nag....you two are probably wondering where Star went and who took over her body huh? Sorry for ranting and raving here, but I know you two understand......
So on the way home, riding side by side with DH, at a redlight, I ask "Honey, Remind me WHAT is it that me like about all this?" lol
Hugs, me

good morning chicks!!

Star, that wasn't raving...that WAS a long ride!!! in the sun....long and hot! remember the evaporation that occurs and we don't even feel it.... Dehydration! that can sap our energy also.

Our poker run was fun, but nothing to write home about. It wasn't group riding, just husband and I. but it was a GORGEOUS day, and that was enjoyable. I learned that I can NOT have a Corono on an empty stomach and ride well. 'nuff said?

husband has actually been better lately...thank good ness for small favors I don't know how to get him to doctor to be checked physically and mentally..we have a mutual acquaintance who works in the ER (and is actually a Medical Examinor - pronounces people deceased at scene of accidents :eek) so I would like to try to contact her privately and see what she says....so yes, our troubles are still on-going, but that's life

OH!!! guess what! I decided to just go ahead and plan on a power/pipes upgrade on my baby. It'll be about $7-$800, but I want it. New pipes, Stage 1 kit, rejetting, new air intake....which will give me a little more horsepower and hopefully MORE NOISE this is also against Hubster's idea, but it's MY money....saved from inheritence from my deceased dad's estate. I called my mechanic yesterday, so he's gonna start researching what pipe styles I can choose from

i say it's against Hubster's idea because he suggested...get this...drilling out my baffles. I''m sorry, I haven't been riding "forever" like him but only the ignorant drill out baffles for more noise. It's a cheap way but it's not the right way...then you also have to adjust your carbs...he says he can do that also...I said, um, since when? I've never heard that you can do that. And then I insulted him, I guess, by saying, I guess I can accept that you CAN do it but I want it done right. Zing! too bad.

there I go being negative again

We are going to Americade this Friday, just for the day. Leaving by 6:00 am will hopefully get us there in about 2 hours. We might meet up with our southern Vermont friend and others there. If not, I'll just enjoy riding with hubby. If I can

Hi Rebel!!! 'sup with you?

gotta get ready for work!! Tuesday and Wednesday I took on the job of cooking breakfast at the club. Hansnt been too bad yet; the most has been 6 guests and 8 staff. Wait til it get to be 30 guests! eek!

Sorry that I have been absent for a few days. My summer maintanence job has been crazy with long hours and then during breaks I was trying to walk or get some exercise in, so computer time has been nearly impossible. We celebrated our 1st anniversary at home wiht homemade spaghetti and had a great evening together. We were supposed to go on a rally in a neighboring town on Sunday, but I woke with a stomach flu bug of some sort. The diet is going ok, but in the 2 weeks or so that I wasnt as strict I can feel that I have gained by the way clothes are fitting. GRRRR. I am getting back to it and have done fairly good this week. Well, when I get a few more minutes I will respond and read your messages better. i'm on my lunch break now and our new boss is very touchy on being a few minutes late. This is going to be one long summer...
I hope you're doing ok.
Big Hugs!

Default 1 Way to speed up your Metabolism

Read this article in "Fitness" magizine this morning at the gym (cardio day).....

In a nutshell, they put four women on different methods of workout/nutritonal plans to see which method supercharged metabolism. The program lasted eight weeks. Here where the four different plans;
*The Strength Plan
*The Cardio Plan
*The Nutrition Plan
*The Strength/Cardio Plan

Note: Since diet is a vital part of the metabolic equation, each woman alsor worked with a dietician (for weight maintenance, consume the same number of calories as your TMR each day).

The Winner - The Strength/Cardio Combo -
The plan: Cardio 30 to 40 minutes three to four times a week. Weight lifting 2 times a week (alternate body parts).
She boosted her metabolism 61 percent, she lost inches all over and dropped her body fat by nearly 2%.

Note: It was noted at the bottom, if your already working out regularly, don't be surprised if your response isn't as overwhelming as this.

I thought this was worth posting

Hi Andrea! And Holly (where are you chick?)

Anyhow - I need to confess, after my bragging about that little pound lost........lol
Well went to a graduation party on Saturday and my DH made me a couple kick-butt drinks. I was really good with the food, didn't eat much. But made up for it in the cocktail section.......Anyhow I weighed in this moring and I know I'm still up about 2 pounds from Sat morning weight......(frown/tisk sound).....darnnnn-it....
Anyhow the sooner I learn that my body just does not process acohol at all the better off my dumb-_ss would be......I even was 100% on plan yesterday and drank TONS of water.........and still I'm up. Oh well, maybe when I'm 70 I will learn to say "A cocktail? OH NO THANK YOU, my body can't process them and I GAIN like 4 pounds with 2 little drinks" Well I'm over it now and back to normal - talk to you later...
Hugs.....

Star- I hear your frustration. The good thing is that in order to gain 1 pound of fat you have to go over 3500 cals or something like that. It's prolly just water weight gain. If you do have cocktails maybe going with rum and diet coke, whiskey and flavored carbonated water, or something like that. You may wake up tomorrow and be a few pounds down. Anyhow, I totally understand.

We went to something that Big Dog motorcycles sponsored over the weekend called Tornado Rally and it was very impressive. Thousands of bikes, tons of vendors, bike builders, bike games, bands, it rocked!

We have been soaked in rain here since last Thursday...lots of flooding, but it looks like its finally clearing up now.

Talk to you girls later!

Andrea - Thanks for the understanding. It's not like I'm the only chick this has ever happened to , right? lol Your right it was probably the cranberry juice........
So far today is going great...I guess it's just a blessing that I don't work at a bar.....
Sounds like your event was really cool......
We have had alot of rain here too and it's been hot and muggy......

Hello, I'm here!

first, Andrea, absolutely right about 1 pound of fat = 3500 calories. Alcoholic drinks will make the scale look like we've gained a coupla pounds, but the damage is not that bad. Good call on drinking lots of water, though, Star...that helps. With the hangover but also in helping to flush out the alkyhol.

We did ride to Americade last Friday; what a gorgeous ride!!! All country roads, twisties; then open farmland; then into NY with more beautiful countryside; then almost 30 miles of a road that winds right by Lake George. It was a HOT day - had to lose the chaps right away...and was glad of my little tank top (with the "****'s Cupcakes" logo - got lots of stares ) Couldn't meet up with our friends, as our stoooopid cell phone said "no service" though everyone else around us was getting service...but it was fun anyways. always fun to see many many bikes!! and again, it was a very enjoyable ride. We did get rained on for about 25 miles on the way home, but we had dodged rain so many times in the previous days, I guess we were due.

Haven't heard from my mechanic yet, but I did visit Vance & Hines website, and found the Cruzers pipes for my VLX...and they have an audio link to click on, to hear what your bike would sound like...kewl

Have been doing very well on eating and exercising...well, very good on exercising, p-r-e-t-t-y good on eating Still hovering at around 144. Star....I remember you speaking about working hard on your arms, and seeing the difference....once I get the pics from Americade, I want to show you guys my arms...I was riding with that tank top, and I don't think I can find fault with my arms, in how they look in the pics!! Isn't that amazing In person, when I look at myself in the mirror, they still look chunky to me...and I've still got a slight crease just above my elbow..but it is so much better than the overhang it used to be!!!! Yay to cutting calories and working muscles!

Andrea, I'm so jealous at all the bike events you have in your area! well, happily jealous

I can NOT believe that Vermont used to be cold We have had hot, humid, hazy weather since Saturday...everything has exploded into such greenness! like a jungle. Crazy, compared to how long and severe our winters are.

LACONIA!!! We're going this weekend!!!!!!! we got our long-anticipated invitation from friends (both ride) who have family there...and the family has a BIG house on Lake Winnepesauke...FOUR guest rooms, lots of bathrooms, the mom keeps the fridge and pantry full just for guests...huge garage for cars truck and bikes...So we ride with them either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning there; spend Saturday night; and leave late Sunday. YEE HAW They also have a motor boat, and if traffic is too crazy (which, on the second weekend, it will be...usually over 200,000 bikes in a small area) then we take the motor boat over to Weirs Beach..pretty cool

When we were there last year, after a family cookout on Saturday night, everyone else settled in for the evening....Joe and I said we wanted to sample the night life, and went out at 10:00 pm. I had my biker chick attire on under my jacket ( I was embarassed for friends to find out what an attention 'ho I am ) and went to the Broken Spoke Saloon and saw bikes and people-watched, and I rode the bull Want to do exactly the same this year, but will ask Terry and Liz if they'd like to come also, if they're not embarassed by me

Oh! and one more cool thing. Liz does ride (has a Vulcan 500) but she's going to drive her pickup truck there...and let us know we can stow stuff in there instead of loading the bikes. Always nice to ride so unencumbered, and to not have to decide between what clothes to bring...just bring 'em all

Tomorrow and Wednesday are the work days that I cook breakfast for the guests (and staff). I've been lucky that so far, it's been very manageable low numbers, and slowly working up. I might have two tables (of 12 each) tomorrow and Wed., but think I can handle it

oo, just looked at my odo and did calculations...have ridden a little over 4000 miles since starting in late March I have to make a conscious effort to drive my car occasionally, to keep it going smoothly

will try to check in again before leaving for laconia!

hugs to my fellow chick riders!!

Default Biker Babes

Morning....Today is much better already. Weighed this morning and I'm down 1.4 pounds from yesterday. Drank alot of water and stayed POP (perfect on plan) Hopfully by tomorrow I will be where I was Saturday morning.....

Holly about the alkyhol - I know it isn't real pounds but it always scares me, I should just remember how much I hate for the scale to go UP next time I want to throw back afew

Also Holly about you being a wild/fun biker babe = you sound way like me. I have rode the bull more than afew times, I have arm wrestled, and stuff like that. Usually after afew

I also had a picture taken on my bike just last week, in a sleeveless top and I had my arms on the handlebars - I was happy with the way they looked. Again, like you, in the mirror they still look alittle big to me, but that is probably just muscle.....so that's okay.

Andrea - what's up with you girl?

Have to run and do some work.....
Hugs - Star

Hi gals!!! I'm new here and a fellow rider. I have an '04 Ninja 250 and a '03 TTR125L. This is my 3rd year riding so as good as I'd like to think I am, I'm still new at it We're just now getting into good riding weather and I go out as often as I can with my husband.
I really want to lose some weight so my riding gear fits better than it does now (15 lb gain in 3 years makes the riding pants a bit tight). I have about 50 lbs to lose and I'm glad to have found you all with the same interest as me to go thru this journey with.
You ladies have a great day!

Hi Kathy and Welcome.....
You know when I was re-learning to ride aout four years ago I gained about 15 pounds too. The reason was right after work I would go to boyfriend's house (now DH) and we would go out in the country and ride. Then stop and eat ofcouse. Plus prior to this practice, I was going to the gym right after work, that fell by the wayside. So after that summer I had gained 15 pounds. Since then I have lost it, still have 15 pounds to goal. We will get there!
Holly and Rebel will be glad to have a new rider here too. Actually I'm surprised there are only 3, oh make that 4 of us biker babes that post here.
What is a TTR125L? By the way, I have a 97 Dyna Lowrider (Harley).
Oh and where do you live?

Hi there! I don't think the riding had anything to do with me gaining weight, I'm pretty sure it was the beer and crappy food, so I've given up both I'm know I'll be better for it The TTR is a dirt bike. I love both the street and off-road riding. I live in southern Idaho so I get the best of both worlds here. Good roads and lots of dirt!
